ROYAL YACHT BRITANNIA

His Majesty's Yacht Britannia, also known as the Royal Yacht Britannia, is the former royal yacht of the British monarchy. She was in service from 1954 until 1997. During her 43-year career, the Britannia yacht travelled more than a million nautical miles around the world.  Yacht Britannia was designed to be converted into a hospital ship in time of war. In the event of nuclear war, it was intended for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to take refuge aboard Britannia off the north-west coast of Scotland. Britannia was launched by Queen Elizabeth II on 16 April 1953 and commissioned on 11 January 1954.

During her career as Royal Yacht, she conveyed the Queen, other members of the Royal Family, and various dignitaries on 696 foreign visits and 272 visits in British waters. HMY Britannia, when on royal duties, was escorted by a Royal Navy warship.

Now retired from royal service, yacht Britannia is permanently berthed in Leith in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a popular visitor attraction with over 300,000 visits each year.

We build this scratch-built primarily wood royal yacht Britannia model the following sizes:

35" long (1/144 scale) $3,975   Shipping and insurance in the contiguous USA included. Other places: $400 flat rate. Please note that this size has lighting option which is $300 extra. 

50" long (1/100 scale) $7,940   Shipping and insurance in the contiguous USA included. Other places: $600 flat rate. Please note that this size has lighting option which is $500 extra.

About the Britannia Boat

The Britannia was a cutter yacht that screamed royalty. Built in 1893 for King Edward VII (Prince of Wales at the time of building), it is considered one of the most important English racing yachts.

Claiming many victories, it was later used by King George V before being sunk as part of his dying wish. This marked the end of big yacht racing in Europe, though this model kit will give you the chance a big part of royal history.

A scale model of the Royal Yacht "Britannia"

The yacht Britannia was built at the John Brown shipyard in Clyde Bank and launched in April 1953. She carried the Queen and royal family on 968 official voyages visiting 135 countries. In June 1994 it was announced the the Britannia would be taken out of service and her last voyage took place in 1997. She is now moored permanently at Leigh near Edinburgh and is open to the public.

All parcels are sent by Royal Mail and Parcelforce and may require a signature on delivery. If for any reason an item cannot be delivered, a card will be left at the delivery address and the package will be returned to the local depot for collection or redelivery. Any items not collected within three weeks will be returned to us, and you may be liable for delivery charges.

RETURNS POLICY

We are happy to issue a refund for unused and unmarked goods in their original packaging. All items must be returned with the sales invoice within 28 days of the purchase date We will offer a full refund if the goods that we supplied to you are found to be defective in any way. Unfortunately, we are unable to exchange items. Please return your original item for a refund and submit a new order.

Due to health and hygiene reasons. No refunds are available on pierced earrings.  We also cannot accept the exchange or refund of necklace and earring sets.
