Lurssen is unquestionably one of the world’s leading builders of large luxury motor, mega and giga yachts . They have the reliability and experience of a family that has been building standard-setting yachts and ships since 1875. They are based in Germany with headquarters in Bremen-Vegesack with five shipyards throughout northern Germany.

The Yachts That Make Lurssen Great

More than 13,000 boats and ships built since 1875, many of them still in service after decades of use. Unlike any other shipyard, Lurssen has delivered 11 out of the 20 largest yachts built in the past 20 years. First place goes to “MY Azzam” (2015), measuring an impressive 180.65m and not only setting a record for length and speed, for which she exceeds 30 knots but also for her swift building time of less than 3 years. “MY Dilbar” (2016), the biggest yacht in the world in terms of gross tonnage, loaded with highly sophisticated technology, she is one of the most complex and challenging yachts ever built. To name but a few of their iconic motor yachts “Al Said, A+, Nord, Al Salamah, Rising Sun, Flying Fox and Crescent” all measuring between 130-156m in length and lastly “Octopus” launched in 2003 and commissioned for the co-founder of Microsoft, Paul Allen.

In 1875, Friedrich Lurssen founds the company and sets up a boat building workshop in Aumund near Bremen, Germany and builds the very first 6 metre motor boat “REMS” with Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach. In the early 1900’s the yard continues to expand and includes a site in Bremen-Vegesack where there is direct access to the open water. In 1925, the yard celebrates two major milestones, its 50th anniversary and the building of its 10,000th vessel, a 14-metre wooden wooden motor yacht and sister ship of the “Onkel Fid II.” Prior to Lurssen celebrating a century in business, “MY Carinthia VI” redefines yacht design, her exterior design setting new worldwide standards. Designer Jon Bannenberg overseas his first major yacht project and to this day, she remains contemporary in styling, a precursor of Lurssen yachts today.  In 1977, Friedrich Lurssen joins the company and today the 4th generation pairing of Friedrich and Peter Lurssen are at the helm of Lurssen yachts who continue to consistently produce some of the world’s most extraordinary vessels.

The multi-award winning 141.63m/464'8" expedition yacht 'Nord' was built by Lurssen in Germany at their Bremen shipyard. Her interior is styled by Italian designer design house Nuvolari Lenard and she was delivered to her owner in February 2021. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Nuvolari Lenard.

Nord has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 36 guests in 20 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 42 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Nord is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by 4 x diesel MTU (20V 4000M 93L) 20-cylinder 5,765hp engines running at 2100rpm, she comfortably cruises at 15 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 20 knots. Nord features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 100,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register PYC classification society rules.

This ultra-luxurious yacht has a number of accolades to her name, earned from her excellent internal and external layout, naval architecture and facilities. She is able to accommodate up to 12 charter guests in 6 spacious cabins and is an ideal vessel for relaxing charter vacations with family or friends.

For guests arriving by tender, the main deck aft will be the first sight that greets them and a wide swim platform connects to a broad stairway which in turn leads up to the alfresco lounge shaded by the upper deck overhang. The exterior seating is designed to make the most of the views and the L-shaped sofas face outwards, while two coffee tables create the ideal setting for breakfast on the fresh air.

The upper deck is also known as the Owner's deck, and charter guests occupying this floor can choose to use it exclusively or share the space with the other guests. The upper deck aft contains the alfresco dining area which is designed to seat 12 guests in stately elegance with drinks available from the nearby bar. Along the stern, there is a surplus of seating arranged so that guests can break off into smaller groups for more personal conversations. The upper deck forward also features a Portuguese deck for an additional outdoor lounge that takes in the forward view. Down on the bow, the tenders are stored beneath a hatch and a winch crane for easy unloading and retrieval.

The bridge deck is fitted with a shaded aft spa pool and the area behind to the stern could be used for sun loungers, a helipad or as a place to party.

Up, on the sundeck, guests can admire their surroundings while lying back in the generous forward Jacuzzi or making use of the curving forward seating areas that can be used for alfresco dining or converted into sun pads. To the aft, there is plenty of room for exercise such as yoga.

The main deck salon is decorated using classic styling and contemporary colours for bold and sophisticated recreational areas. In the middle, there are two almost symmetrical seating areas on the port and starboard sides and there is a grand piano for live entertainment.

Forward of the salon, there is a spacious formal dining area that both adults and children will enjoy for its beautiful detailing and combination of pale and vibrant colours.

The forward area of the main deck is reserved for the majority of the guest accommodation and on the starboard side, there is also a guest office and a massage room.
