Alm Jachtbouw widens its trawler fleet by adding Delfino 64

WAALWIJK – Trawler yachts are at home in North America, covering vast distances – Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes and Canadian and US inland rivers – at water displacement speeds.

In Europe, trawlers represent a lifestyle that attracts modest attention and few builders, perhaps because distances are shorter and littered with history.

The to-go-to Dutch trawler yard is Alm Jachtbouw which to date has built dozens of cabin cruisers from 10 to 30m (32 to 98ft). The 21.5 m (71ft) “Skippers Yacht,

” based on European two-deck inland cargo vessels, is possibly its most interesting.

De Alm builds highly customized cruisers. It just launched the 19.5m Almtrawler Delfino 64, a robust boat with a Portuguese bridge, a flared bow, a 425HP John Deer diesel and a 10,500-liter fuel tank that keeps the engine purring for 3,000 nm.

The steel hull (8 mm below the waterline, 6 mm above it) carries a superstructure of 5 mm seawater-resistant aluminum. The Delfino 64 has a Side-power hydraulic system with bow and stern thrusters, a hydraulic anchor winch for a 100m anchor line and Side-power stabilization with SP67 Vector fins. The navigation gear is by Simrad.

The Delfino series’ flagship runs to a 29.6m (100ft) and boasts a 600HP engine.

The cherry wood interior includes a large salon, an open galley, and a raised wheelhouse. In the latter is a bed. Below deck are three guest cabins with bunk beds, a prominent owner’s cabin, and a lazaret/crew cabin in the stern.

The owner’s cabin has a private bathroom with a toilet and shower. The guests have a shared bathroom with a toilet and shower. The engine room can also be reached via the master bedroom if necessary.

The flybridge has a steering position, with integrated seating on either side. On both the bow and stern decks, there is a bench. The spacious fly deck also houses a crane for the tender and the mast with antennas.

Some extras installed: 150 AMP alternator, washing machine, Miele appliances, TV screen on an elevator, Norsap helm seats, composite countertops in galley and bathrooms, Simrad radar Halo 4, second radar Simrad Halo 6, Simrad NSO EVO3S 19” monitors, satellite compass, weather station, AIS, two life rafts, Epirb, and remote control for engine, bow and stern thruster.
