Island Girl is ready to sail away for off-grid live aboard and cruising!

Upgrades and Features include rigging inspected and new sails about 4 years ago, New top -of-the line sun shade system, and new cushions. Raymarine Doppler Radar + IAS 12 Helm Plotter. Yanmar main engines in excellent condition and low hours with upgraded high capacity alternators. Low hours on Northern Lights 6 Kw generator as well as 2200 watt solar and 1200 amp hour Lithium house batteries for off grid power needs. Additional cruising equipment includes washer/dryer, Newport Spectra 400C Water maker, upgraded Frigomar air conditioner that can run off the house battery bank. Included is 12′ dinghy with 25 hp outboard. Extensive list of spare parts already onboard.

In 2004, Leopard partnered with designers Morelli & Melvin for their Leopard 40 model. Between 2004 and 2009, Leopard produced 136 Leopard 40s before replacing it with the Leopard 39. Then, in 2014, Leopard engaged with Simonis Voogd Design to launch a newer Leopard 40 model that is still in production today with over 210 vessels produced.

The Leopard 40, a product of South African boat builders Robertson & Caine, features a unique, modern design thanks to experienced naval architects Simonis and Voogd as well as Robertson & Caine’s design team. She resembles her predecessors in speed, agility, and blue-water performance, but her enhancements include an increased hull volume and an innovative interior layout.

The Leopard 40’s interior design is unlike any Leopard before her. Her galley is located forward and the forward-facing settee and table are now located aft. This allows for a panoramic view with large sliding glass doors between the saloon and the aft cockpit. This arrangement promotes easy communication for guests and an open flow between the saloon and the aft cockpit, and a fusion of indoor and outdoor living space. In addition, the galley area includes a large forward-facing window and an access door to the forward platform of the boat. The access door enhances the open concept feel and easy navigation in and around the yacht. It also promotes ventilation throughout the interior.

Leopard 47 Powercat Review

Robertson and Caine – Leopard 47 Power Cat

The Leopard 47 Power Cat is a yacht born from many innovations, and a design that has won over many owners (even sailors) and charter companies too.

The Leopard 47 PC is a collaboration between South African boatbuilder Robertson and Caine and California sail- and power-catamaran designers Morelli & Melvin.  Debuting in 2009, the 47-footer forms the basis for island charter fleets and is found in private ownership all over the world.

The Leopard 47PC was designed from the ground up to be an open water yacht with the displacement necessary to carry endless cruising gear, and maintain its waterline.  Being a multihull means it’s very comfortable on the move and also stable at anchor, a feature that monohull power-yachts cannot compete with unless equipped with expensive active stabilizers. 

For the power plant of this vessel, the early model of 47PC were fitted with the Volvo 150’s.  These were then switched to the amazing Cummins 150’s, which powers the majority of the four cabin 47PC’s built.  Then due to EPA compliancy regulations they switched to the John Deere 150’s the last year of the run.

Of the yachts powered by two straight drive Cummins 150HP turbo charged four cylinder engines, this yacht offers high reliability and efficiency, especially in the 12-15 knot cruising speed.  Higher speeds (17-18 knots) are achievable, at the expense of higher fuel consumption, though still massively lower than equal size power boats.  If you chose to cruise at maximum fuel efficiency, you can run on just one engine at half-throttle (2000 rpm), which gives a healthy 8 to 9 knots.  At this speed you’re only using 2-3 GPH, which means you have  range of roughly 1000 nautical miles using the built-in 320 gallon tanks only.  With these numbers, suddenly a stable and comfortable power-boat makes sense, for those looking to make the jump from sailing to power, or those looking for a more efficient power-boat.

For those looking for more power, there was the option to upgrade the engines to 2 x Volvo D4-260’s.   These are found more often in the three cabin owners layout.  Powered by these engines, the yacht can reach speeds of 22-23 knots, cruising at 15-18 knots.  Cruising using the same one engine running trick, at 2000rpm also only burns 3 GPH, which is remarkable.

Being a wide beam catamaran hull, means this yacht has really generous space for both living areas and storage.   There are two layout versions for the 47PC, an owners three cabin layout (where the starboard hull is very open plan, and features a study/lounge area and huge forwards head/shower), and a more conventional 4 cabin/4 head version.  The main salon has plenty of natural light through the large side and forward windows, with galley aft and table seating forwards.  There is a full sized nav station in the starboard forward part of the salon, and the option to fit a second internal helm here.  The yacht is fully air-conditioned and is powered by a 9kw Northern Lights generator, proving quiet cool living on the water.  There are crew quarters on both sides, with the starboard side having its own head, sink and bunk. 

The side decks are extremely wide, for a yacht this size, with a solid deck between the bows giving immense floor space, and high stainless tube guard rail providing safety whilst under way.  The fixed GRP dinghy davits are an ingenious design, where the forward facing bench seat can be folded flat and then lowered into the water to become a boarding platform.  The aft cockpit is very spacious, with comfortable seating for ten around the table to port and additional seating to starboard, for al fresco dining.  Where this yacht really shines is the flybridge, which becomes the living area in all but the most adverse conditions.  Here you have a commanding view of your surroundings, and can helm the yacht from the three person helm seat, whilst also being able to socialize with your guests sitting in the forward area.  The forward area of the flybridge features luxurious wrap around seating to port and an additional bench seat facing forward.  There is also a wet bar to prepare food and drinks, and there is provision to fit stove/BBQ and fridge/ice-maker, so you have all you need to make the flybridge your elevated home on the water. 

The Leopard 47 power cat is unquestionably one of the more exciting power-cats out there, and today offers tremendous value, being priced at a third of the cost of a similar new design, whilst also being an incredible strong and efficient design.  Speaking with delivery crews and owners they all talk highly of the performance, sea-worthiness, build quality, and livability of the yacht. In 2007 the power catamaran emerged with Leopard’s 47 power catamaran. Boasting of stellar fuel efficiency, the Leopard 47PC was all the rage. Next came the Leopard 37PC for those desiring a smaller powercat. Then in 2011 it was replaced by the Leopard 39PC. As we fall upon 2015, the Leopard 43PC took the main seat and finally, the Leopard 51PC replaced the Leopard 47PC encompassing lots of exciting features such as a forward cockpit.

New on the Docks: Leopard 46

Leopard Catamarans has unveiled the Leopard 46 sailing cat.

“The Leopard 46 is a testament to Leopard Catamarans and Robertson and Caine’s commitment to engineering excellence and elevated onboard living,” Franck Bauguil, global sales manager at Leopard Catamarans, stated in a press release. “We have meticulously designed and built a vessel that not only delivers exceptional performance but also provides an unparalleled level of luxury and comfort.”

The Leopard 46 has an exterior design inspired by powercats. Its wraparound coachroof windows allow for panoramic views and lots of natural light inside. The companionway sliding door fully retracts abaft the helm station, connecting the saloon and cockpit as a single area for relaxation and entertainment.

Other key features include a hybrid electric drive option and integrated solar panels, both of which have the potential to make cruising more sustainable and efficient.

Leopard allows owners to personalize the 46 by ordering one of several layouts. Options include three staterooms plus a utility room; or four- and five-stateroom variations. Owners also can choose the configuration of tables and furniture in the saloon and cockpit.

There’s an optional performance-sail package, as well as an optional lifting tender platform.

Where to see the Leopard 46: The boat is expected to be at the Annapolis Sailboat Show in October, where it will be a nominee for Cruising World ’s 2025 Boat of the Year. It will also be available for charter through The Moorings and Sunsail.

As the exclusive dealer worldwide, every single new Leopard Catamaran that has been built by Robertson & Caine was sold by us. Sales agents within our business have been with Leopard since the inception.  The only catamaran brand that they sell is Leopard. Our team of brokers are not only experts of the Leopard product but have also forged strong relationships with Leopard owners globally.  As the exclusive dealer, we speak with owners and buyers about our product every day.

With a globally connected, Leopard-focused team we have sold more Leopard Catamarans than any other brokerage, both new and used. We have sold 100's of preowned Leopards listed on LeopardBrokerage.com. This is not including the 1000’s of pre-owned Leopard Catamarans sold by our team that have come out of the charter fleets of The Moorings and Sunsail.

Sales Support

We do our homework so you don’t have to. Our sales team studies a detailed market analysis of recent Leopard Catamaran sales and market trends. We use this knowledge to establish a fair asking price relative to today’s market. We are able to offer a trade evaluation on your current Leopard if you are interested in purchasing a new Leopard. We will support you through the entire sales process and handle the transaction from start to finish. We organize the survey/ sea trial and haul out and supervise the entire event. Your presence will not be required. We know many qualified captains and will coordinate the process. We are able to recommend third parties for all facets from documentation to survey to repairs/ maintenance and delivery of the vessel.

Global Support

With over 20 global charter bases through our sister companies, The Moorings and Sunsail, as well as dedicated Leopard Catamarans regional sales and support offices located in the United States, Mediterannean, and Asia, owner's of both new and used Leopards purchased through our brokerage office have access to our team no matter what part of the world you are cruising.

Robertson and Caine

Unique to any other brokerage, we are able to access technical information and history through Robertson and Caine, in addition to the Leopard Service Department. We have very active communication with Robertson and Caine, and full access to their technical team. If we need to get a question answered quickly, or if we need urgent upgrade advice in order to make a sale, we can achieve this better than anyone else. Our relationship with the factory is unrivaled. Any parts that need to be special ordered can be done easily through us. Considering we are the exclusive dealer of Leopard Catamarans, we can advise surveyors and clients on how the boat is built and designed, unlike any other brokerage who is not privy to that information. The information we house can make or break a deal.

Our Reach is Global We have marketing teams around the globe to ensure that your yacht is not only being exposed to the US market, but to international buyers in the European market, across the Mediterranean, Asia and Australia as well. Regional Managers

Cyril Lelievre has been sailing since his youth and his experience spans from skipper to teacher to racer. With an early career in the biggest shipyards of France, Cyril has been in the yacht brokerage business for nearly 20 years. Cyril opened The Moorings/Sunsail Brokerage office in Nice, France in 1999 and still manages that office today.

Patrick’s childhood summers were spent sailing the coast of Maine with his father on their Lightning. It was there that his interest for sailing began. Over the next 25 years he developed a passion, not just for sailing, but also for racing. Most of his time was spent cruising/racing in Galveston Bay. However, some of his favorite sailing destinations are the British Virgin Islands, Belize, and Cyclades in Greece. Finally able to mesh his sales career with his passion for sailing, Patrick has been with The Moorings Yacht Brokerage since 2013.

Meet Michael, a seasoned sailor whose love for the open waters has taken him on journeys all over the world. Navigating through the waters of the British Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, and the Grenadines, to the remote destinations of French Polynesia and the Seychelles. With a passion for sailing, Michael has seamlessly transitioned from exploring the world's most breathtaking destinations with The Moorings & Sunsail to now sharing his expertise and insights in the yacht brokerage industry. Whether you're a seasoned sailor seeking your next adventure or a newcomer eager to dip your toes into the world of cruising, Michael is here to guide you every step of the way. With his wealth of experience and dedication to client satisfaction, he's your trusted partner in turning your waterfront dreams into reality. 

Giles’ first memory of sailing was sitting on the bow of a dinghy when he was 5, while he sailed around the bay with his Dad. He has been sailing ever since. After studying engineering at university he worked as a sales manager selling classic and sports cars. He cast off his lines 15 years ago and returned to the water. As an MCA/RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor, he has been around the world skippering, racing and teaching and brings his enthusiasm for sailing to the brokerage. After 10 years in the brokerage based in Tortola he has a lot of experience with the boats and the process to pass on.

Richard Vass first moved to the British Virgin Islands more than a decade ago, working for both Sunsail and The Moorings during this time. Richard’s family are keen sailors and his introduction to yachts began at an early age. Drawing on his knowledge of charter yachts, passion for sailing, and his local knowledge, you’ll find Richard a friendly chap who is happy to explain the brokerage process as well as help you find your dream yacht.

Daniela was born and raised in Croatia and has been around boats and the sea her whole life. She studied at the College of Maritime Studies in Split, and has worked for Sunsail since 2003 in various positions from Purchasing and Logistics Manager to Customer Service and Base Manager. She began her current role as a Yacht Broker in 2015.

Growing up in Nice on the French Riviera, Marjorie has had a lifelong affinity for the water. After completing her education in France and Thailand, with a Degree from Edhec Business school, Marjorie worked in superyacht chartering and had operational experience aboard the 120ft motoryacht ‘DB9’ for few seasons in Med. She joined the Sunsail Yacht Brokerage team in 2007 following four years as sales broker. Then she relocated to China for nine years to pursue a career in the Yachting industry. Before coming back to France, Marjorie took her young family cruising in the Coral sea aboard her 38ft catamaran. They enjoyed a six month sailing adventure, visiting Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Now back to France, she is delighted to continue with the Sunsail Brokerage team and to service buyers and sellers alike.​

Alexandra is from Palairos, a small fishing harbor where Sunsail and The Moorings were previously based (Vounaki resort). She studied Business and Tourism Administration and has been working for the company since 2012. Before starting with yacht sales in June 2019, Alexandra spent 2 years with the charter side of the business, working in customer service at Zea Marina in Athens. 

Derrick started his maritime career almost 20 years ago as a dive instructor / boat captain working in the Caribbean. He later created a scuba diving business in the U.S. Virgin Islands where he had numerous opportunities to enjoy sailing and entertaining visitors to the area. After 12 years, Derrick sold his business and relocated to South Florida where he continues to enjoy providing assistance to boat sellers and buyers. He holds a U.S. Coast Guard 100 ton Captain’s License and PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.

Ikraam was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. He studied Business Management and joined Sunsail and The Moorings 9 years ago as the Sales Manager in the charter division of the Cape Town Sales Office. Ikraam has good first-hand knowledge of our world renowned Leopard Catamarans having been to the Robertson & Caine factory on numerous occasions. He has experience sailing in the challenging waters of Cape Town, experienced the ocean safari like seas of The Seychelles, enjoyed the pristine conditions of the Bahamas and British Virgin Islands, sailed the exotic islands of Phuket and the majestic islands of Croatia. During his time with the company, he relocated to Asia as the Business Development Manager for Sunsail and The Moorings charter division. Upon his return to South Africa in September 2020, Ikraam is excited to join the Sunsail, Moorings and Leopard Brokerage team as a yacht broker.

Originally from Chicago, Joe discovered his passion for the sea on an Outward Bound Survival Course sailing from Maine to Bermuda roundtrip. This transformative experience ignited his love for the sea. After attending the prestigious Michigan State University, Joe honed his sales skills from his time at Echo Global Logistics and Salesforce. During the height of the COVID pandemic, he alone moved to Miami to be closer to the ocean and embrace a sense of freedom. With his strong professional background, Joe transitioned into the maritime industry by first working at a yacht charter company and then a maritime MLS. His expertise and enthusiasm for yachting led him to join Moorings Brokerage & Sunsail as a yacht broker. Joe has attended numerous prestigious yacht shows, including the renowned Monaco Yacht Show, bringing a wealth of knowledge and a keen eye for detail to his clients. Deanna moved to Florida 3 1/2 years ago from Ohio so that she and her husband could be closer to the ocean where they enjoy fishing, boating and kayaking. She has worked in the automotive field since 2001 in multiple areas from service to finance as well as warranty claims. She also has multiple years of experience in customer service and office management and is excited to enter into the marine industry.
