Built in 1993, Brazil offers guest accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising a master suite, two double cabins and two twin cabins. There are 7 beds in total, including 1 king, 2 queen and 4 singles. She is also capable of carrying up to 8 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 19 knots with a range of up to 3,000 nautical miles from her 61,500 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed. Her low draft of 2.2m/7'3" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy fun on the water with the collection of water toys and accessories aboard Brazil. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Additionally, there are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. In addition there are wakeboards so guests can show off at speed. If that isn't enough Brazil also features kayaks, fishing equipment and snorkelling equipment. In 1993, Dutch yard Heesen combined forces with Art-Line Interiors, Gerhard Gilgenast and Richard Hein to create the striking superyacht BRAZIL. She is a 131.3-foot (40m) semi-displacement, aluminum-hulled yacht designed for stylish living and has become highly popular on the charter scene. The luxury motor yacht cruises at 14 knots and can reach 19 knots at top steed. Her range at 15 knots is 2,300 nautical miles. The yacht was refitted in 2016 with the talents of Claudette Bonville, ensuring her interior surpasses expectations.

Up to 10 guests are invited to sleep in the five luxurious staterooms. For dockside events, BRAZIL can host up to 45 guests. She is the ideal yacht for both family parties seeking fun and adventure or groups of friends wanting a more elegant charter full of high-class entertainment and fascinating trips ashore. A crew of eight are on hand at all times to offer the finest luxury service and ensure everyone has a holiday of a lifetime.

Explore the yachting oasis of Brazil’s Green Coast

One of the best-kept yacht charter secrets in the Atlantic, Brazil is slowly gaining popularity as a luxury yacht destination, and it’s easy to see why. Along this gorgeous stretch of Atlantic Coastline, you’ll find thousands of beaches, bays, natural harbors, and islands, most of which are uninhabited. Sunshine is plentiful, the emerald waters are calm and crystalline, the ever-present breeze is warm and gentle, and the culture is unique and welcoming, enticing travelers from around the world to this cultural melting pot. From the original natives and 16 th  Century Portuguese explorers, to more recent immigrants from Japan, Italy, France, Germany, and Lebanon, Brazil is a fusion of ethnicities, offering a dynamic variety of cultural, historical, and dining experiences.

Angra dos Reis, or Bay of Kings, in the state of Rio de Janeiro is the perfect place to begin your voyage. Sheltered by the large island of Ilha Grande, the gorgeous bay is home to more than 300 islands, and the short distances between them offer infinite spots to stop off and enjoy snorkeling, diving, or swimming. Venture ashore to enjoy a private picnic or beach barbecue prepared by your chef, or explore rainforest trails leading to cascading waterfalls and immerse yourself in the splendor within. Brazil is so much more than Rio and Ipanema, and your luxury yacht is waiting to take you there.

Arrive in Angra dos Reis via charter flight or helicopter from Rio de Janeiro, and head to Marina Verolme to meet your yacht and crew. Enjoy a celebratory cocktail on board as your captain makes way to the village of Abraão on Ilha Grande, where you can sample the local “feijoada” (bean and meat stew). With more than 100 stunning beaches, countless scenic hiking trails, and lush mountainous landscapes, it’s the perfect spot to venture ashore and explore.

Cruising along coast from Angra to Paraty, you’ll have your choice of anchorages, each one more beautiful than the next. Explore the landlocked cove of Saco do Céu, find a spot to anchor, and then head ashore for a forested hike and a swim under a waterfall. Continue to the enchanting city of Paraty, where you’ll find art galleries, famous restaurants, jazz clubs, and several bars with lively samba dancing.

Ilha da Cotia

Take a quick jaunt to Praia Grande for sunbathing on its stunning sandy beach, kayaking in the gorgeous waters, or simply strolling along the coast. Set out for Saco do Mamanguá, home to Brazil’s only fjord, with majestic towering rock walls jutting into the lush rainforest, and then continue to Ilha da Cotia to find a secluded anchorage and take in the panorama around you.

Ilha de Paquetá

Brightly adorned horse-drawn carriages are the only “vehicles” you’ll see, as no cars are permitted in this quaint, leisurely village. For a chance of pace, dine at Chez Dominique, serving up the best French food in the region.

As you make way back toward Ilha Grande, stop off at one of the many islands in the Baía da Ribeira, an idyllic spot to swim or splash around with the yacht’s water toys. Anchor out near Araçatiba, known for its abundant fishing and reflective aquamarine waters that may turn phosphorescent at night.

If weather conditions are favorable, take a counterclockwise turn towards Aventureiro, a rugged bay surrounded by tumbled boulders forming serene pools. Continue to Parnaioca, a nature-lover’s paradise, where a flowing river finds its way down to the unspoiled beach. Cruise around to the tip of Ilha Grande to Palmas and find a serene anchorage, enjoy a cocktail on deck, and take in the beautiful views.

Angra dos Reis

After navigating through this beautiful oasis of more than 300 islands, return to Angra for your ride to São Paulo for some last-minute shopping and dining. Or head to Rio de Janeiro to take in landmarks, such as the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. However you choose to end your journey, it will surely be the perfect finale.

44m Heesen motor yacht Brazil sold

The 44-metre motor yacht Brazil has been sold with Arvid Ljungberg of MYSEA representing the seller and a "private introducer" bringing the buyer.

Built in aluminium by Dutch yard Heesen Yachts to a design by Richard Hein and the late Gerhard Gilgenast , Brazil is ABS classed and was delivered in 1993 with several upgrades since. Her most recent refit was completed in 2022, with the "multi-million-euro" works including a four-metre extension, the addition of a Jacuzzi and new all-electric CMC stabilisers. 

Her contemporary interior can accommodate up to ten guests in five staterooms comprising a master suite with a king-sized bed, two further queen-sized doubles and two twin cabins. All of the guest cabins come with entertainment systems, LCD televisions and en suite facilities. There is also room for a crew of eight on board. 

Her main deck saloon has a lounging and relaxation area, an entertainment centre including a large-screen television and electrically operated sunshades and curtains. So in much of the country, the seasons are reversed in comparison with Europe or North America. There is no winter season and no period in which it is particularly dry.

Polish-flagged yachts are being used by criminals to export cocaine and other drugs across the Atlantic from South America to Europe and elsewhere, the UN and maritime authorities have warned.

Drug traffickers are taking advantage of a legal loophole giving Polish vessels “de facto immunity” from arrest in international waters, said Julien Garsany, Brussels representative of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

“When other countries see a vessel flying the Polish flag and [it’s] suspected to be involved in drug trafficking, they basically have no one to authorise them to board it,” said Garsany.

The UN has long been concerned about vessels sailing under flags that are completely unrelated to the ownership of the boat — so-called flags of convenience that can help smugglers avoid scrutiny at sea.

Poland’s has become the latest flag in vogue with criminals, who are exploiting the rush by British and other boat-owners to use the EU country’s cheap registration system for small sailing yachts and other boats up to 24m long, according to maritime law enforcement authorities.

The Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre — Narcotics (MAOC-N), a joint US, UK and European operations centre for narcotics traffic based in Lisbon and focusing mainly on smaller vessels, has registered an increase in Polish-flagged pleasure craft suspected of carrying drugs since 2021.

While MAOC-N was monitoring 12 Polish-flagged vessels potentially linked to trafficking in 2021, that number rose to 31 in 2022 and 47 last year. Boats appear on the organisation’s radar because of intelligence tip-offs, ongoing investigations and suspicious vessel or crew movements.

“If you are a trafficker you will want to . . . sail through with as few obstacles as possible. And a European member state flag is normally not really drawing a lot of attention, especially in the Atlantic,” said Garsany.

Poland set up a new boat registration system in 2020 for vessels up to 24m, financed by the EU. The number of boat registrations has rocketed from about 2,000 initially to almost 77,000 to date, with just over a third of owners giving an address outside the country, according to Polish authorities.

“It’s cheap, it’s superfast and it doesn’t require much information. So obviously the criminals will try to register on that,” said a MAOC-N analyst. “It’s a fantastic business.”

According to MAOC-N and the UNODC, criminals may be exploiting the fact that Poland is not properly implementing international rules that would allow other countries to board Polish-flagged vessels at sea. This means suspected drug smugglers have been able to get away provided they do not enter the enforcing country’s territorial waters.

Two years ago, for example, Portuguese authorities searched a Polish-flagged vessel at sea off the Azores islands, arresting two Dutch nationals and seizing 1.2 tonnes of cocaine.

A Portuguese judge later ruled the operation was unlawful because Poland did not authorise it. Although a court overruled that decision earlier this year, Portuguese media reported the two suspects had in the meantime been freed and left Portugal, thus avoiding prosecution.

The Polish police’s central bureau of investigation, which is supposed to issue permits to board vessels, cannot do so because a recent amendment to drugs legislation is yet to come into force, according to the country’s health ministry, which is in charge of implementing the UN convention against drug trafficking.

Numerous websites offer Polish yacht registrations from prices as low as €395, and some also propose the establishment of a UK or Delaware company as owner of the boat — in effect allowing clients to obscure their identity when registering.

Since the new registration system was implemented, seizures of Polish-flagged boats carrying cocaine and other drugs have increased.

MAOC-N has reported 19 seizures of small Polish vessels, most of them from 2021 onwards. Law enforcers seized more than 18 tonnes of cannabis, 13.5 tonnes of cocaine and 56kg of MDMA (ecstasy) from yachts and motor boats sailing under a Polish flag, including off the coasts of Portugal, Brazil, Cabo Verde and Guinea-Bissau.

“What we started seeing some years ago is a huge movement of cocaine from South America to west Africa . . . because the criminals know it’s easier for us to target [them] if they are going directly to Europe,” said the MAOC-N analyst, adding that vessels coming from west Africa to Europe may be checked less frequently for narcotics than those coming directly from South America.

While Poland’s flag is now particularly popular for small vessels, other flags such as those of the UK and the Netherlands were used in the past, according to MAOC-N. The Netherlands in 2021 changed its rules around boat certificates after revelations they had been used by drug traffickers.

Poland’s infrastructure ministry said it was aware of reports about “incidents of drug smuggling on board [yachts] flying the Polish flag”, but had “no information about the involvement of organised criminal groups in these incidents”.

It also said that “considering the number of watercraft in the register — over 70,000 — this is not large-scale”. The ministry pledged to review the drugs trafficking problem raised by the Financial Times but at this stage was “not aware of any concerns from international law enforcement authorities”.

Poland’s health ministry said Warsaw hoped to facilitate inspections of Polish-flagged boats by the end of the year. “Competent authorities in Poland are working on legislative changes . . . which will allow them [the police] to issue such permits,” the ministry said.
