Cuyahoga River

Although there's no dock space near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River, there are a few places where you can legally tie your boat up in Cleveland's most popular summer spot. Enjoy the live music at Shooter's or try some of the restaurants at the Flats East Bank, like the huge Margaritaville or Lindy's Lakehouse.

The marina in downtown Put-in-Bay is a place to park and have a shower. Meet Karl W. Sooy

Expect the best with Captain Karl, a seasoned veteran who has logged 200,000+ nautical miles on the Great Lakes and New England’s Coastline. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard, piloting vessels and yachts ranging from 18’ to 60’. While serving in the Coast Guard on the Cutter Sundew, he logged hundreds of miles on the Great Lakes. He also was stationed at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in Woods Hole, MA, where he conducted search and rescue and law enforcement missions. This is where Karl further expanded his knowledge of vessel safety, navigation, boat handling, and heavy weather search and rescue. In addition, he obtained his USCG 100-ton Master Captain’s license along with a towing endorsement.

Amazing day on the Brew Boat. We celebrated my 25th birthday and the staff was so nice and accommodating!

Fun for all ages! Three generations of family had a great time on the water. The pedals were pretty much decorative for us (great little outboard engine on the back). All made possible by the captain and first mate who could not have been more attentive, helpful, and accommodating.

Freddie and Allie were great! They were so friendly and outgoing, we had a marvelous cruise with them!

The people who drove the Brewboat were so much fun! We were there celebrating my bachelorette party and we had such a fun time. They volunteered to take pictures of us with the amazing view, they suggested games we could play, and had the best customer service I’ve had in a long time! We’re planning on doing it again soon!

We had a great time on the BrewBoat celebrating my sister-in-laws birthday. It was a first time on the boat for everyone. You can rent the entire boat which we did since it was a family affair. The captain and mate were very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend taking the cruise.

Cleveland Boat Cruise LLC is based out the Rocky River area and offers two hour cruises with Captain Ray; a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain .  Experience Lake Erie like you never have before.  Cleveland Boat Cruise will customize your outing whether it’s a shoreline cruise, tour of the Cuyahoga River or a sunset cruise.  

Closed For The 2024 Season – Bookings Will Resume In Spring 2025

Cleveland Boat Cruise runs a 26-foot fiberglass Formula Sun Sport named “Surge”.  The boat is white with gold and blue trim with a Merc Cruiser engine and comfortably seats up to six passengers.  On board are seven adult Type 1 U.S. Coast approved life jackets and two child Type 1 U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets.  “Surge” passed a U.S. Coast Guard safety check and is compliant with all state and federal regulations.

Beer, wine & hard seltzers permitted, smoking, vaping, marijuana and illegal drugs not permitted, fishing not permitted, food & snacks permitted, bluetooth sound system, porta potty.

Meet Captain Ray!

U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain Captain Ray has always had a love for the water and he’s owned boats since he was 19-years-old.  He holds a 50-ton United States of America Merchant Mariner Credential issued by the United States Coast Guard National Maritime Center.   He’s completed the requirements for the American Red Cross adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED class.  Captain Ray is also a member of the Maritime Consortium.

Captain Ray’s Recommendations

Safety first!  Weather and lake conditions are checked before leaving the dock.  If conditions are not ideal for boating, trips will be either rescheduled or cancelled.  Waivers required for all passengers.  

Wear sunscreen

Bring a hat and sunglasses, take dramamine or wear motion sickness ear patches if you are susceptible to getting seasick (hour before departure).

We live on the lake and don’t own our own boat. This was a great way for us to spend a gorgeous afternoon on Lake Erie. Captain Ray was great!

The private charter was the perfect way to celebrate our achievements. The boat was beautiful and the captain made us feel like royalty.

The cruise was a lot of fun and the Cleveland skyline views from the water were amazing. Captain Ray was a true pro out on the water!
