First look: Mengi-Yay's 48m flagship La Vie

Turkish shipyard Mengi-Yay has provided a closer look at its 47.8 metre flagship motor yacht La Vie . First launched in April this year, she marks the first hull in the yard’s new Virtus 47 line and eclipses her recently launched sistership, Balmy , by half a metre in length.

La Vie 's exterior has been designed by VYD Studio , while interiors come from Italian designer Leonardo Santi Design and naval architecture is by Ginton Naval Architects. 

One of the yacht's key features is a generous beach club which features unfolding sea terraces and a hydraulic set of steps that provides easy access to the water. A lounge area on the interior creates a shaded zone while maintaining a connection to the water. 

Elsewhere, the main saloon and owner's cabin also feature unfolding balconies as standard, but prospective owners looking to buy a Virtus 47 can remove this feature at their request.

Opportunities for al fresco living can be found across the yacht, including a sunpad spread and shaded dining on the main deck aft and a convivial seating arrangement on the upper deck above.  The foredeck also makes use of the available space, with optional umbrellas that make this space well-suited to all-day enjoyment. 

There is plenty of scope for customisation on offer with this model, including the option of a transverse or longitudinal tender garage, different pool and jacuzzi configurations and even the positioning of the superstructure.

Owners can also choose their interior designer. To this end, Red Yacht Design is developing the interiors on the two other Virtus 47 hulls under construction: the NB100 and the NB102.

 Built in steel and aluminium, the 498 GT superyacht offers accommodation for up to 10 guests across five staterooms, and seven crew accommodated in four cabins. 

Performance-wise, La Vie can reach speeds of up to 14.5 knots, which can be trimmed down to 12 knots, and draws power from twin CAT engines. 

Alongside La Vie , the yard has been busy with several other projects including two other Virtus 47M models. 

The Turkish yard has also got a new model in the works: the Atlante Mistral 41. The semi-custom series comprises six superyachts, with the first hull set to launch next year and the second hull available for sale . 

Balmy , the second hull in the Virtus 47M series hit the water in June .

The luxurious super yacht, called Vive La Vie berths in Belfast

Designed by Monaco’s Espen Oino and built by German shipbuilder Lurssen, Viva La Vie was made exactly to Mr Michel’s specifications.

The yacht includes seven cabins comfortably housing 13 guests, as well as separate accommodation for crew.

A striking design feature is the interior stairwell, which includes glass bridges suspended in woven steel grids. An illuminated glass sculpture incorporated within the nearby glass elevator can change colour depending on the mood of the guests.

• Willy Michel

Willy Michel is the owner of the yacht Vive la Vie. He is a Swiss entrepreneur and founder of the company Ypsomed. Together with his brother he founded the company Disetronic in 1984. Disetronics Holding AG was a company focused on the manufacture and distribution of infusion systems in medicine. It was known for developing insulin pumps for the treatment of diabetes. In 2000, the company had 1,021 employees and realized sales of more than USD 200 million. In 2003, the company was split and partly sold topharmaceutical company Roche. Willy Michel continued the injection business (Disetronic Injection Systems AG), which was renamed Ypsomed. Ypsomed was brought to the Swiss Stock Exchange. Willy Michel and his family still own 76% off the Ypsomed shares. The Swiss magazine Bilanz estimates the net worth of Willy Michel at CHF 700 million, which is more or less USD 700 million.

A super yacht belonging to a Swiss businessman arrived in Aberdeen harbour yesterday.

Social media erupted as the 195ft Vive La Vie berthed at Regent Quay at about 10.50am.

The yacht belongs to entrepreneur Willy Michel, who founded Ypsomed – a company that manufactures and distributes infusion systems in medicine.

The 67-year-old has owned Vive La Vie since 2008.

Designed by Monaco’s Espen Oino and built by German shipbuilder Lurssen, Viva La Vie was made exactly to Mr Michel’s specifications.

The yacht includes seven cabins comfortably housing 13 guests, as well as separate accommodation for crew.

A striking design feature is the interior stairwell, which includes glass bridges suspended in woven steel grids. An illuminated glass sculpture incorporated within the nearby glass elevator can change colour depending on the mood of the guests.

The most impressive cabin belongs to the owner, and includes a rotating circular platform beneath the bed, to make the most of spectacular views through the full-height windows.

The vessel, which is registered in the Cayman Islands, features various other luxury features including a gym, Jacuzzi, two on-board tenders, and a dining table which can be raised to ceiling height to create a disco space.

Vive La Vie arrived in Aberdeen from Torshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands, after making stops in Lerwick and Stromness.

With a top cruising speed of 15.5 knots (17.8mph) and a cruising speed of 12 knots (13.8mph) the yacht has a maximum range of around 7,000 nautical miles, or almost three times the distance of London to New York.

The yacht is expected to remain in the harbour until Wednesday, but its next destination is not yet known.

Mr Michel lives in Schloss Gumligen, an 18th century castle in the municipality of Muri bei Bern, Switzerland, and works as CEO of the Ypsomed Group. Most recent figures, from 2012, show the businessman to have an estimated fortune of £493million.

Introducing La Vie, Mengi-Yay's flagship 47.8-meter yacht

The exterior was designed by Studio VYD, the interiors were created by Italian designer Leonardo Santi.

Turkish yacht yard Mengi-Yay has officially unveiled its 47.8m flagship motor yacht La Vie, the first vessel in the new Virtus 47 line, which was launched in the spring of 2022.

The exterior of La Vie was designed by VYD, the interiors were designed by Italian yacht designer Leonardo Santi, and the naval architecture by Ginton Naval Architects.

Constructed of aluminum and steel, this superyacht has a huge beach club with swivel tables and hydraulic steps, as well as a swim platform with easy access to the water. The dining area is located on the main deck aft. The forward deck has another area for lounging during the day. A separate private space is also designed in the enclosed lounge area, with additional lounge chairs and cozy armchairs.

The main salon and the owner's cabin are equipped with transforming multifunctional balconies. La Vie also has a transverse or longitudinal tender garage, several pools and jacuzzis and other options that can be changed at the request of the owner at the stage of ordering a yacht.

The vessel can accommodate up to ten guests in five cabins, as well as seven crew members in four cabins. The maximum speed of the yacht is up to 14.5 knots, or can be reduced to 12 knots when two CAT engines are connected.

Several other yachts are currently under construction at the Mengi-Yay shipyard, including two more Virtus 47Ms. In addition, the Atlante Mistral 41 is under development, with the first one to be launched in 2023 and the second to go on sale.

Mengi Yay Yachts Launches First Virtus 47 Motor Yacht, La Vie, and Delivers to Owner in June 2022

Mengi Yay Yachts, a prestigious Turkish shipyard with nearly 60 years of experience, successfully launched the first of its Virtus 47 motor yacht series on April 10, 2022. Named La Vie , this 47.8-meter superyacht was built at the Mengi Yay facility in Tuzla, known for its state-of-the-art production capabilities. Following final equipment installation and sea trials at Pendik Marintürk Marina, La Vie was delivered to its owner in June 2022. This launch marks a significant milestone as the first model of the Virtus 47 series, with Mengi Yay already working on additional units in this range.

La Vie is the first of Mengi Yay’s Virtus 47 series, continuing the success of the Virtus 44-meter yacht delivered in 2020. Constructed with a steel and aluminum hull, La Vie embodies the shipyard's commitment to custom-made, high-performance yachts. A STRIKING EXTERIOR DESIGN

The exterior of La Vie , designed by VYD Studio with naval architecture by Ginton Naval Architects, boasts modern, clean lines that exude a sporty and sophisticated allure. The yacht's smooth surfaces and fluid, uninterrupted windows create a striking profile, enhanced by subtle color contrasts and wood accents. Inside, La Vie features a fresh, contemporary design by Leonardo Santi Design. The interior is characterized by a soft palette that fosters a calm and soothing atmosphere. With a gross tonnage of 498 GT, the space is utilized to bring guests closer to the water, particularly on the lower deck, which includes a sports area for guests to enjoy their workout with stunning sea views. The interior design reflects a seamless blend of comfort and elegance, offering a tranquil retreat.

HOSPITALITY AND SOCIAL SPACES

The main deck of La Vie is designed to maximize social interaction, featuring an open and spacious cockpit that serves as both a lounge and a welcoming area. This deck transitions seamlessly into the saloon, where different textures and tones create a warm and inviting environment. The saloon, with its expansive windows and comfortable furnishings, is an ideal space for dining and socializing. The kitchen, equipped with state-of-the-art appliances, is also located on this deck, ensuring that all culinary needs are met.

DESIGN WITHOUT COMPROMISE

The design of the main deck is supported by a harmonious combination of materials, including marble surfaces, soft-textured flooring, and linear lighting that enhances the brightness and elegance of the space. A 12-person dining table adds to the luxurious ambiance. In the center of the yacht, an elevator provides easy access between decks, while a circular staircase with teak wood accents offers an alternative route, emphasizing both functionality and aesthetic appeal.

SOCIALITY TO THE FULLEST

The upper deck of La Vie features the captain's cabin, equipped with cutting-edge technology and designed for maximum comfort and user-oriented functionality. This deck also includes open spaces that have been thoughtfully designed to enhance the guest experience. A sunbathing area with a custom canopy and a lounge for relaxation are just a few of the amenities offered on this deck.

The flybridge, spanning 83 square meters, includes a dining area, a bar, and an elevator for convenient access to the lower decks. Earth tones dominate the décor, creating a warm and natural ambiance that complements the surrounding ocean views. The sundeck, with its sun loungers and serene atmosphere, provides an ideal space for relaxation.

TECHNOLOGY AND LUXURY FOR ALL

La Vie is equipped with a state-of-the-art intelligent automation system, allowing both the owner and guests to control ventilation, lighting, and curtains according to their preferences. Vive La Vie

Delivered in 2008, the 59-metre yacht VIVE LA VIE is a truly bespoke yacht, conceived for her owner to enjoy a circumnavigation. Differing in her layout from typical charter yachts, she has an uncomplicated interior with many curvaceous elements designed by Art-Line. Her exterior was designed in-house using a proven hull for excellent seagoing performance and comfort. Large tanks and efficient engines result in an extraordinary range of 7,200 nautical miles.

Vive la Vie

Motor Yacht

Luxury motor yacht Vive la Vie was built in 2008 by German shipyard Lurssen. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she features exterior design by Lurssen Yachts and the interior work of Art-Line Interiors. This twin screw superyacht measures 59.4 metres and is strictly for private use.

Motor yacht Vive la Vie shares a hull design with sister ship Capri but exhibits extreme difference in superstructure, layout and interior design. Built for the private use of her owner only, the super yacht exhibits many personal quirks and individual indulgences often avoided in yachts destined for charter. Designed to support the owner’s friends and families for long periods of time, the vessel was specifically designed as more of a live aboard.

An indication of its family focus, almost the entire bridge deck is dedicated to the owner’s suite and children’s cabin, although the wheelhouse and captain’s cabin are also found on this level. The owner’s suite is located aft and boasts a striking semi-circle of ceiling-to-floor windows that cast wide views over the suite’s private deck and ship’s wake.

The private aft deck features a gel-burning fire and fridge. The large bed is positioned on a revolving pedestal that allows its occupants to swivel from facing toward the windows, to looking port towards the children’s cabin. This smaller cabin ahs the delightful feature of a Wendy house providing access to the ‘hers’ half of the double bathroom.

The colour tone of the interior décor is a subtle wash of creamy white carpets and sofas and caramel brown woodwork.

One of the ship’s true highlights is her elevator; a fur-lined creation located almost amidships and boasting an immense nine metre sculpture of colour-changing LED lights positioned behind a glass wall. Guests may choose however to rather use the visually stunning carpeted staircase that spirals up between the levels and opens the interior up.

The main deck is home to a gym and saloon with a small dining area for up to eight guests. Also on deck is a forward observation area with dining table for 12 that, if needed, can rise to the ceiling and make way for a dance floor.

Besides her indulgent owner’s suite and children’s cabin are a VIP cabin and four guest cabins. The VIP cabin is situated on the main deck and the four guest cabins are all below deck, each served by the stunning staircase and elevator.

Luxury yacht Vive la Vie is powered by two 1,455kW Caterpillar 3512B engines that allow her to reach a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. She can achieve a range of 7,000 nautical miles while cruising at a speed of 12 knots.

She was the winner of the Best Displacement Motor Yacht 50-59m at the 2009 World Superyacht Awards due to her high construction quality, superior exterior styling and extremely practical general arrangement plans. The luxury vessel has been built to Lloyd’s classification.

The 36.6m/120'1" motor yacht 'La Vie' (ex. Chao Yono) was built by Tecnomar in Italy at their Carrara shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Gian Marco Companino Design and she was delivered to her owner in September 2018. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Gian Marco Companino Design.

Guest Accommodation

La Vie has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 7 guests in 3 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 5 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 2000 M96L) 12-cylinder 1,920hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 22 knots with a range of up to 1,600 nautical miles from her 15,000 litre fuel tanks at 10 knots. La Vie features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 3,500 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) C ✠ HULL ● MACH classification society rules.

I called the massage I got here the "bad touch" massage. A friend of mine bought a groupon for the Angel Massage Spa not realizing that the two massages advertized had to be performed at the same time. I'm not one to turn down a massage, so when she offered one of the spots to me I jumped at the chance! I figured that the worst that could happen would be a subpar massage, which is better than no massage, right? Wrong! First, there was a little window in the door of the massage room. It had a little lace curtain over it, but really anyone in the hall could see right in (there was a little folding screen to change behind). Usually when I get a massage I strip right down to my chonies without a thought, but I'm not much of an exibitionist so this time I left my bra on and scurried over to the table where another surprise awaited me. There was no sheet to get under, just a little towel! I remembered a massage instructor once telling a class that's how they do draping in Australia, so I thought, "weird, but okay," climbed on, and draped the towel over my rear. A minute or so later the massage therapist knocked and came in. I said hi, she said hi, and a second later I was getting massaged. No questions about my preferences or if I have any areas she needs to be careful around, just right into the massage. Now, to be fair, I don't think she spoke much English, but really for safety's sake, these are things that should be addressed before a massage is started. As for the massage, well, it vacillated between bad and creepy. The therapist rubbed some oil on my skin and then proceeded to dig her elbows into my muscles. I loves me some deep tissue massaging, but you HAVE to warm up the muscles first with some lighter strokes or you're going to hurt someone. It did not feel good. Then came the legs. I know that people have different tolerances for how high up the inside of their legs they're comfortable with people massaging, but this lady went so high that she brushed against my genitals a couple of times (not a joke!). When I was on my back she put a couple of hot (really just lukewarm) stones under the waistband of my underwear. I don't think it that any of this was purposely sexual, but honestly I left the massage more tense than I started it. The final straw for me was when she finished her face massage by (I swear to God!) putting her fingers inside my ears and wiggling them around! Gross! Also, CREEPY! In short, this was the least professional, creepiest, most bizarre, and absolutely worst massage I have ever received! When we were leaving I told my friend who had treated me, "I need an adult!"

I'm no massage expert but all I know is that I'm leaving here feeling like an invertebrate. David was my massage dude-I recommend him if you like medium pressure massage.

we went to get massages and I got 2 males for full body massages uhmm we were expecting girls but ok, one of the masseuse was doing this weird sounds of mouth breathing, lip smacking and snoring, it was gross and loud, we were no relaxed, also the massage felt careless, it was not a good massage, we went there because of the good reviews, but did not have a good experience. almost forgot! we asked to change the masseuses for girls, they agreed, but it didn't happen. Because that day was very busy, masseuse they are busy, clines come is only free masseur, one of them to help you massage masseur, he was hay fever, so breathe through his mouth. Very good hour long Swedish message. Loved it & will absolutely be back after my next hockey game or motocross race.

Just got a full body massage there, they do deep issue and stepping Back for me. The masseur did a really good job, her name is Fairy I guess. I will definitely recommend this shop, the most professional massage service near this area.

Usually I go to Massage Envy as I have a membership there, but its almost impossible to book a massage last minute. I was looking around on yelp and found Angel Massage Spa. The prices were incredible and the pictures were nice, so I booked a last minute massage. When I got there it was dark and quiet and everything was clean and smelled fresh. The lady that gave me the massage was very professional and sweet. The massage was amazing, she took the time to work on all of my muscles and focused a lot on my shoulders and upper back. I really loved that when she finished massaging, she used a hot towel to wipe off the excess oil. Compared to Massage Envy, I feel that this spa provides greater attention to detail and also gives you the full hour.. all for less money. It was a great experience and it's highly recommended :)

I want to update my review because their customer service is great. The owner contacted me via Yelp because of my prior bad experience, and she offered me a complimentary hot stone massage. I decided to give them another chance and glad I did! Great massage by Joanna, very clean and private room. The only reason I am only giving 3 stars is because their phone was ringing nonstop with a speaking caller i.d. that would read the names of callers aloud. That was the only part that wasn't relaxing, I will definitely return still.

This review is only based on a phone call I made to book an appointment. Horrible customer service here! I didn't even get as far as booking an appointment, I called to inquire about the different types of massages they have listed on their website. The gal who answered was very vague and seemed annoyed with having to explain anything at all. I asked her where they were located and she told me to google it because she was too busy working. Isn't answering simple questions about the business part of the job?? What kind of place is this?! Not about to waste my time or money to find out.

I have visited Mr Xu for about 4 months. He is the most skilled massage therapist that I have ever met. He is very different from others in that he studied from a teacher when he was a teenager and followed the teacher for many years, in the tradition Chinese teach-student relationship. In addition to his skills, he is also very dedicated to his clients. Each visit, you get a solid one hour treatment. I highly recommend him to everyone seeking serious massage treatment.

This is just a customer service review since I have yet to go here. I called this place Sunday morning to see if they had anything available for a couples massage. The woman I spoke to said she had an apt available so I asked her to book it for me, before I got off the phone I repeat the time to her to make sure it was correct (I work in the spa industry so I like to confirm the times at least twice so theres no confusion.) As were on our way there 10 mins before our apt I received a call from the receptionist stating that the client before us just arrived and that they would have to move our apt to a later time, Im sorry but my schedule does not revolve around other clients you told me a time to be there im going to be there. They should have rescheduled the person who was late. So I told the girl no thanks I will just go somewhere else. 5 mins after I hung up the phone another lady calls me from there begging me to come back on a different day I explained to her that what they did was unprofessional and that she should have rescheduled the other person and because of that I am going somewhere else and to please stop calling me. I honestly don't think I will ever go to them. book at your own risk and expect 3 or more calls from them either canceling on you last min or begging you to come in another day.

AMAZING!!!! I LOVE ANGEL"S MASSAGE. I have been looking for the past 2 years for somewhere great. I finally found it with Angel's I go every month now thank you thank you so much!

I-680 Northbound Sunol Express Lanes

The I-680 Northbound Sunol Express Lanes will be constructed in phases and includes widening 15 miles of freeway, pavement rehabilitation, 64 overhead sign structures, new auxiliary lanes, 14 bridge modifications, bridge rehabilitation, 45 new retaining walls, sound wall replacement, extensive safety lighting, ramp metering modifications, and an integrated electronic toll collection system. Right-of-way requirements include 13 property acquisitions, and utility relocations. A continuous access express lane facility is proposed and will be operated and enforced in consistence with the other express lane projects in the Bay Area Regional Express Lane network.

Notably, the PID document was approved in 9 months; EIR (CEQA) / complex EA (NEPA) document was approved in 33 months; and PS&E for Phase 1 was completed in 15 months.

The WMH Team received commendations from Alameda CTC staff and elected officials for the tremendous commitment to deliver this vital project under an accelerated schedule.
