Drake Talks Plans for a "Graceful Exit" From the Music Industry
“i’m not going to force myself to compete.”.
After releasing his critically acclaimed Let’s Start Here album , Lil Yachty has now turned his attention to his sunglasses brand, FUTUREMOOD . Promoting his emerging imprint, Lil Yachty launched FUTUREMOOD ‘s “A Moody Conversation” by tapping Drake for a candid interview.
During the chat, the two artists went back and forth in the engaging conversation but an interesting moment came when Drake shared that he’s been mulling “a graceful exit.” At the 5:50 mark, the Canadian artist begins to discuss the idea after being asked about what there is “to even search for or want” anymore. “Well, I think like on a broader scale, I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna, like—I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day—but I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit, said Drake.”

On “Too Much” featuring Sampha, Drake rapped “Moment I stop havin’ fun with it, I’ll be done with it,” and a recent interview with Lil Yachty teases the time may have come. The 36-year-old rapper hinted at retiring from music during a snippet shared on social media.
Conducted to promote Lil Boat’s new sunglasses company, Future Mood, the “Poland” rapper promised to share the full conversation on Friday (Feb. 24).

This is not the first time the chart-topping rapper has discussed retirement with his peers, however, his tune has changed. According to HipHopDX , during an episode of Queen Radio with Nicki Minaj in August 2022, the “light skin Keith Sweat” discussed his intention to never put down the mic.
“I’m not at that point where I even consider that being an option,” explained the highest-selling singles artist in RIAA history. “One of the best feelings I have in my life is completing a song or project. And by the way, those things are painful as well. A lot of nerves, a lot of confidence wavering. “
He continued, “But I feel like I’m reaching a new level of fun. I’ve reached a new level of comfortability where I want to try things. Like this last album, I put out something I wanted to do to challenge myself.”

Drake Admitted To Thinking About A ‘Graceful Exit’ In A Teaser For His Interview With Lil Yachty
Rappers and retirement historically don’t mix , but Drake is flirting it anyway. Lil Yachty is the latest guest on the Rap Radar podcast, but that’s been slightly overshadowed by Yachty posting a clip from “A Moody Conversation” interview with Drake for his Futuremood sunglasses company.
“I think I’m at the point now where I just wanna, like — I feel like maybe we talked about this the other day, but I feel like I’m kind of introducing the concept in my mind of a graceful exit,” Drake told Yachty while ocean waves crashed behind them.

Yachty teased that the full episode will drop tomorrow, February 24.
Drake taking stock of his life and career was on full display during his Apollo Theater performance last month, which even featured him wearing his old Jimmy Brooks Degrassi jersey .
“I wanted to make this a show about gratitude,” Drake told his intimate Apollo audience, according to Uproxx’s review . “This is a little story that we put together. My deep love for my family, for my dear friends, and for each and every one of you who have been supporting me for a long time. […] This is my bedroom in my mom’s basement where I wrote a lot of new songs. […] I’m gonna play you some of the sh*t that got us out of here.”
Yachty recently gushed about Drake to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe while promoting his new album, Let’s Start Here .
“I love him to death,” Yachty told Lowe. “That’s my guy, man. … Our relationship has just grown so big and so tight. But that’s my guy, man. That’s my brother, man. That’s like the only person I probably talk to since I was, like, nineteen on a daily basis. Like, every single day.”

Lil Yachty Talks Drake’s Support and How He Ended Up Working on ‘Her Loss’ in Exclusive ‘Rap Radar’ Clip
Lil Yachty speaks on 'Rap Radar' about his contributions to Drake and 21 Savage's 'Her Loss,' saying he'd been looking to "just be in the room" for years.
Lil Yachty says Drake isn’t only a “good guy,” he’s also the GOAT.
The Georgia-born artist made the bold statement in a Rap Radar clip premiering exclusively on Complex. During the podcast sit-down co-hosted by Brian “B.Dot” Miller and Elliot Wilson, Yachty was asked about his relationship with Drake and his contributions to 2022’s Her Loss , Drizzy’s collaborative project with 21 Savage . Yachty received writing and production credits on a number of tracks , including “Major Distribution,” “Privileged Rappers,” “Circo Loco,” “Jumbrotron Shit Poppin,” and more.
Wilson declared Lil Boat “the genius behind” the No. 1 album and asked how his involvement came about.
“I, for a very long time, wanted to do anything involving music with [Drake],” Yachty said of his eventual “Oprah’s Bank Account” collaborator. “So I’ve been telling him for the last, like, I don’t know how many years, like, ‘Bro...can I even just be in the room? I just wanna soak it up and see how you do it. I wanna see you rap, I wanna anything , you know?’ For real. I just feel like he’s—to my opinion...the greatest rapper ever. And that’s my personal opinion. I ain’t arguing with nobody or their mama.”
The Let’s Start Here artist went on to say he always looked up to Drake and began communicating with him several years ago, when he didn’t feel fully embraced by the hip-hop community.
“He always loved my beat selection,” the 25-year-old continued. “He was one of the first people to post one of my albums and just be like, ‘Man, your beat selections are so crazy.’ And that’s crazy to hear from him, especially during times when nobody was really fuckin’ with me. Like, I never had many rap friends. I feel like a lot of the rap people I even hung around was because I was probably [in Quality Control]. … I probably would never met any of those people if I wasn’t QC.”
Yachty went on to say his involvement with Her Loss was an organic process that occurred after he and Drake started hanging out. “I don’t know, man, it just happened,” he said with a smile.

Rap Rada r comes from Warner Music Group’s new in-house network Interval Presents. The full episode, which premiered on Thursday via Apple Podcasts , addresses Yachty’s creative direction and lifestyle, as well as his expansive Let’s Start Here album. Check it out below via YouTube.
