Sailing Italy
With extensive coastline, Italy bareboat charters have something to offer even the most experienced sailors. From chic resorts in Capri to gorgeous views of Sardinia, erupting volcanoes in the Aeolian Islands, the rich history of Rome, sandy beaches of Sicily and the charming slow-paced life on the Amalfi Coast, whichever region you choose for your sailing vacation each will be a unique adventure.
Being a center of international tourism, Italy is visited by over 50 million people each year. Experiencing Italy on a sailing vacation is a great way to enjoy this wonderful, sunny country and make lasting memories. Many find that one trip isn't enough, and will return again and again to relax and soak up all that Italy has to offer.
Italian Cuisine
Apart from the exciting history, fashion and friendly people, Italy is a country that is world famous for its delicious cuisine. Once you charter a boat in Italy, make this trip an unforgettable experience by exploring culture and traditional lifestyle through local foods. You may dine in small marinas, stock up with seafood, try fantastic fruits and vegetables in local markets, or lunch in casual waterside pizzerias while sailing in Salerno or Naples. Discover Italy's famous gelato ice-cream in Rome, or sample world renowned Tuscan wines while sailing in Follonica, Piombino or Livorno.
Sailing in Italy is the best possible way to explore this gorgeous country, as you can reach the most beautiful spots while avoiding crowded tourist destinations. As is typical for much of the Mediterranean, Italy's climate is mostly subtropical, with warm dry summers and wet winters. The months of May through October are optimal for a bareboat charter in Italy. During these months you can expect moderate winds from 10 to 20 knots while average temperatures will range from 70 to 90 F (20 to 30 C). July and August are the peak of the summer season, with temperatures reaching up to 90 F (30 C) and warm seas that can rise to a comfortable 75 F (24 C). This is a great time for sailors with moderate skills to experience and explore the region. The winter months can also be a wonderful time for a sailing trip in Italy, with mild temperatures and fewer crowds.
Sailing Areas
There are 5 major areas in Italy with the highest concentration of sailing yachts and catamarans for charter. 12 knots offers yacht rentals in Salerno, as well as a large fleet of charter yachts in Tropea, Follonica, Skarlino and Naples.
Naples bareboat charter, Amalfi Coast
Sheltered short passages and light breezes make this area ideal for a relaxed sailing vacation. When taking a yacht charter in Italy you must consider sailing along the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Most Italy and Amalfi yacht charters begin in Naples. This city has distinct energy - chaotic but beautiful. While it may feel daunting at first sight, Naples will soon charm you with its hospitality and colorful culture. From the Naples yacht charter base in southern Italy, you have an easy gateway to Capri and the Amalfi coast.
In less than a day's passage from Naples you may reach the Amalfi coastline that stretches from Sorrento to Salerno, the most stunning and incomparable coastline of the Mediterranean. Beautiful hillside towns with colorful terrace houses clinging to steep cliffs represent authentic Italian architecture.
Salerno is the biggest yacht charter base in Italy that can boast a long history dating back to the 4th century. One of the most popular historical sites of this sailing destination is the Arechi Castle. Built in the 6th century, this castle offers the best views of the entire town of Salerno.
From there you may head to Capri, one of the most prestigious sailing destinations. A reservation is necessary for a berth in the marina beforehand, as this is a popular and busy place during the summer season.
Yacht charters in Procida can be an alternative to Naples. Located in the Bay of Naples, this relatively undiscovered and untouched island can be easily reached by ferry. Procida has open access to the Amalfi Coast and Pontine Islands.
Sailing Scarlino
This is another must visit destination for an Italian yacht charter. This tiny town has cobblestone streets and is framed by hills of ancient, silvery olive groves. From the top of the hill, opens a breathtaking view of the harbor and beautiful coastline. Numerous waterside cafes offer great places to sit and watch the glamorous yachting world. Further down the Italian coast, you may sail to Elba, the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago, located only 6 miles from Piombino. Elba has several coastal villages, all with the same spectacular views of the seas. You may also like to stop and take a walk along the streets of the island's principal town – Portoferraio.
Boat rentals In Italy
A yacht charter in Italy requires a valid skipper's license. The skipper must be at least 18 years of age (this is also a basic requirement for obtaining a sailing license) and must carry their license at all times during the vacation. A valid skipper's license will allow you to sail along the coastline within 20 miles of the shore.
In order to charter a motor boat you will also need an official permit allowing you to operate a power vessel with an engine over 40 hp. Italian authorities recognize most of the International Certificates of Pleasure Craft Operators.
Italians are very sensitive about the protection of their marine reserves. You should keep in mind that it is forbidden to bring a yacht close to the shore in protected areas (usually a minimum distance is 1 to 2 miles). In these areas it is also prohibited to fish, collect seashells, sea plants, cruise on a boat with a working engine, anchor, or practice any type of water sport. Italian protected areas are found in Cinque Terre, the Tuscan Archipelago, Isole Tremiti, Miramar, Maddalena Archipelago, Egadiysky Archipelago, the island of Ustica, Porto Cesareo and Ventotene.
Italy is among the countries of the Schengen Agreement, and is a member of EFTA. For citizens of the countries that are members of these organizations, as well as for EU citizens, a valid passport is all that is required to enter Italy. You are allowed to stay in the country for up to 90 days.

Guide to Italy
Explore the history and beauty of this Mediterranean idyll
One of those rare but must-do experiences in life is to discover Italy. Few places on earth succeed in intermingling la dolce vita so effortlessly with a heady mix of art, history, architecture, opera, fashion, and food, not to mention the stunning coastlines to visit. Italy is a destination for a luxury yacht charter bucket list.
The Italian coasts attract many visitors each year on a Mediterranean yacht charter , not least because of the electric blue waters and vistas of picturesque coastlines, but primarily because once on land one is never far from the architectural treasures to be found in any in the major cities or rolling vineyards in the countryside.
The Ligurian Riviera The Ligurian Riviera offers a relaxed and enchanting experience, perhaps because of its history inspiring some of Italy’s most famous artists. The rugged coastline dotted with villages, cliffs and multi-coloured architecture is a sight to behold from a yacht. The village of Portofino offers a mix of designer boutiques and superb restaurants, and the five unspoilt villages of Cinque Terre make up a UNESCO protected national park. From Genoa, down the Riviera di Ponente to San Remo, this beautiful region is not to be missed.
The West Coast The west coast of Italy incorporates the stunning cities of Rome, Capri , Ravello, Naples , and Salerno. Tuscany is easily accessed, and with its formidable landscapes of rolling vineyards, medieval architecture, and statue of David overlooking Florence, there is little that comes close to competing. The island of Elba with curved bays and beaches, and the volcanic island of Ischia with its thermal springs and spa centres that take some beating, are perfect destination hotspots for those on a charter adventure.
Sardinia The island of Sardinia offers an exciting blend of a cosmopolitan lifestyle, prehistoric culture, and stunning natural beauty. Explore rugged coastal trails, kayak in secret bays, and meet friendly locals and the extraordinary wildlife in an island deceptively larger than its size. The island is also famous for boasting some of the finest beaches on the European coastline, with Costa Smeralda’s scalloped bays and Golfo di Orosei’s coves as real highlights.
Amalfi Coast In 1997 the Amalfi Coast was deemed a UNESCO World Heritage site and it is hardly surprising. The coastal scenery of beautiful hilltop towns, winding roads, and lemon groves edging the sparkling sea is enough to cement this area into travel folklore as of the most beautiful region to charter a yacht. It boasts an array of luxury resorts, world-class restaurants, and various little coves, and attracts A-listers from around the world as regular visitors.
Aeolian Islands The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily, named after the demigod of the winds Aeolus. The island of Sicily brings with it history in the form of stunning ancient ruins and baroque churches, boutique shopping experiences in the capital Palermo, and not to mention Mount Etna, the famed volcanic mountain that dominates the skyline. An absolute must-visit is San Vito lo Capo, a beautiful curved bay with golden sands, the perfect end to an Italian charter.
Italian East Coast The east coast of Italy will offer you the delights of Venice , a city so perfectly created for those with a love of boats and the water, the very glamorous Ravenna, and the seaside spot of Rimini. Beautiful beaches and an area steeped in history surround the port town of Ancona, and just beyond, Puglia with its rustic charm, baroque churches, and relative seclusion wait for you.

What's better, a motor yacht or sailing yacht charter in Amalfi?
Whether a motor or luxury sailing yacht rental is best depends entirely on your preferences and desired experiences. A luxury motor boat will typically boast a larger volume, including spacious saloons, cabins, and sun decks, and will often feature more amenities than a comparably sized sailing boat. Motor boats are also more accessible and offer enhanced comfort levels. A luxury sailing yacht, however, provides the sheer thrill and romance of harnessing the power of Mother Nature. Indeed, nothing can be more spectacular than watching the sails flutter in the wind while you cruise the Amalfi Coast. For many, a yacht wich sails thanks the wing, without the use of enginee also fosters a greater connection with the sea. Our Amalfi superyacht charter specialists at Northrop & Johnson will be able to advise you on the pros and cons of both motor yachts and sailing boats and then handpick a selection of vessels that meet your needs.

Italy luxury yacht charter
Awash with elegant cliff-top villages and tempting cruising grounds around every corner, a luxury yacht charter is one of the best ways to discover all that Italy has to offer. Whether cruising around the unspoilt Aeolian islands, touring the impossibly pretty towns of the Amalfi coast and picture-perfect Capri , hitting the hotspots of Sardinia or revelling in the world-famous cuisine, culture and heritage of Tuscany and its islands, the Italian Riviera is always a good idea for a summer yacht charter.
Italy yacht season and weather
The peak summer months of July and August provide warm, sunny days with highs of 30°C. During August, many Italians take the entire month off work, meaning resorts and coastal areas are very busy. June and September offer quieter cruising grounds and very pleasant temperatures.
Climates do vary from north to south, with the south generally experiencing milder winters. In October, Sicily often has long, warm sunny days with temperatures still in the mid-20s.
Italy yacht charter itineraries
La Spezia’s Porto Lotti can accommodate yachts up to 180 metres and Porto Mirabello has capacity for yachts up to 140 metres – both good jumping-off points for Portovenere and the Cinque Terre. Rome Marina Yachting is in the port of Civitavecchia and has berths up to 100 metres. The marina is an hour and 15 minutes from Rome by car. On Sicily , Marina di Riposto is an ideal base for visiting Mount Etna and Catania, is six nautical miles from Taormina and has moorings for yachts up to 80 metres. Porto Cervo marina on Sardinia has moorings for yachts up to 120 metres. Porto di Mergellina in Naples has moorings for up to 75 metres.
Awash with old Hollywood glamour and synonymous with Italian aristocracy, the Amalfi coast is one of Italy’s most famous and coveted cruising grounds. Departing from Naples and the shadow of the volcanic peak of Vesuvius, charterers can venture 20 nautical miles to the low key isle of Procida, then take a 10 nautical-mile passage to the volcanic wonders of Ischia, hop south to the famed isle of Capri before cruising 20 nautical miles to Amalfi and the neighbouring gems of Ravello and Positano. For those wanting a mix of city and sea, charters can also make an overnight passage and arrive for sightseeing in Rome.
The island of Sardinia is a superyacht magnet and its famous Costa Smeralda attracts the yachting elite every summer. Mixing Michelin restaurants and five-star hotels with kaleidoscopic bays, sublime beaches and celebrity haunts such as Porto Cervo, Sardinia is one of the hottest charter destinations in Europe.
Charters in the Tuscan archipelago are equally bewitching, with the islands of Elba, Gorgona, Capraia, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri home to pristine shores, stunning coves and charming villages steeped in history. The islands form a convenient stepping stone between the coastline of Tuscany and Corsica, allowing charterers to combine the delights of Italy and the French island in on trip.
Further north the pearls of the Ligurian coastline, the UNESCO protected Cinque Terre, comprise the picture-perfect towns of Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore cling to the cliffs, while romantic Portofino is a must-visit.
For natural wonders and more off-the-beaten-track adventures, the volcanic Aeolian Islands lie 25 miles off the north-east coast of Sicily and provide a varied and stunning itinerary. Sicily itself has also catapulted onto the charter scene, with an enticing mix of secret grottos, secluded coves and glittering beaches.
Italy by superyacht
Getting to italy.
The mainland has a host of international airports that handle commercial and private aircraft including those in Naples, Rome and Pisa.
Sardinia’s three airports of Olbia, Alghero and Cagliari all handle commercial and private jets.
Catania and Palermo airports in Sicily handle private and commercial aircraft.
Common charter routes in and out of Italy include crossings from the Adriatic and Croatia, and crossings from the French Riviera and western Mediterranean.
Legal requirements
Official documentation required from the crew for charters must be sent to the Italian authorities at least two weeks prior to arrival.
Yachts based in the European Union, on which VAT has already been paid or is not applicable, are welcome to enter Italy from any other EU country without having to undergo customs formalities. Vessels arriving from outside the EU must report to customs on arrival, however. The current VAT rate of 22% is reduced for yachts depending on how much time they have spent cruising in waters outside of the EU.
There are some local laws concerning where to anchor and swim, which can be punishable by fines. It is illegal to swim in an Italian harbour, so swimmers must dive in further out from shore.
Except when entering or leaving, motoring within 300 metres of the shoreline is forbidden. It is also prohibited to anchor within 200 metres of a beach in Italy.

Area Guide: Italy Charter Destinations
You could spend months exploring all the hidden treasures that Italy has to offer. But in the interest of time, you’d better stick to the highlight reel. While you’re free to dock at different destinations during your Italy boat charter, we recommend these four popular locations:
- Amalfi Coast Home to secluded beaches, vibrant homes tucked into its jagged mountains, familiar towns, idyllic natural landscapes, fruitful terraced gardens, seaside valleys, and all the beauty a yacht charter guest could hope for, Amalfi Coast is regarded as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Make sure to visit Positano, Capri, Sorrento, and Naples.
- Italian Riviera Equal parts glamorous and naturally beautiful, the Italian Riviera is the epitome of Italian history and class. Dotted with ancient fishing ports, inherent charm, and some of the globe’s most popular destinations, like Portofino, San Remo, and the Cinque Terre, the Italian Riviera has become an international favorite for yacht charters in the Mediterranean Sea.
- Sardinia As the second-largest island in the Mediterranean, Sardinia has one of the most beautiful coastlines in all of Europe. From near-perfect beaches and archaeological ruins to charming coastal towns and villages and world-renowned caves, Sardinia is a destination with water and land activities all yacht charter guests can enjoy.
- Sicily & Aeolian Islands Known for being a melting pot of European, African, and Asian heritage, Sicily is home to plentiful Arab castles, Greek temples, and Aragonese churches. As the largest and most unique island in the Mediterranean, it boasts architectural gems, a complex history, and interesting folklore that is sure to impress.
VAT (Value Added Tax) on Yacht Charters in Italy
As any yachter knows, when it comes to chartering in international waters, a Value Added Tax (VAT) will typically be applied. The following VAT laws pertain to private yacht charters in Italian waters:
– If a yacht only cruises through Italian/EU waters, a standard 22% VAT rate will be applied.
– If a yacht cruises both in and outside EU waters, the VAT rate is only applied to the charter for the amount of time spent in Italian waters.
Italy Yachting: When to Go
Typically, yachting season runs from mid-May through the end of September, with the height of the season being during the summer months, in July and August .
During these particular months, you will benefit from both warm climates and light winds, making this time of year ideal for boat exploration. That said, May-June and September shouldn’t be passed up as potential times to visit the area. Given that outside temperatures are still comfortable, waters are still warm enough for swimming and these months fall just outside tourist season – when destinations are most crowded – this time of year is ideal for yacht charter guests to set sail on their private charter yacht and explore the enchanting Italian coast.
Ready to explore all Italy has to offer? Enjoy pampering amenities aboard your luxurious Italian rental yacht. Here at Worldwide Boat, we’ll pair you with the vessel and crew best suiting your needs, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy a full-bodied red as you sail along the Italian coast.

Video shows moments before superyacht went down in storm off Sicily
A celebration turned into tragedy for a british tycoon when the storm sank the vessel off sicily. six people remain missing., by henry austin and corky siemaszko | nbc news • published august 21, 2024 • updated on august 21, 2024 at 4:08 pm.
Newly released video captures a luxury superyacht being battered by a violent storm before it suddenly sank off Sicily with 22 people aboard Monday.
The grainy images obtained by NBC News and other outlets were recorded on closed-circuit television not far from where the Bayesian was anchored, about a half-mile from the port of Porticello, on Sicily’s northern coast .
The yacht's 250-foot mast, illuminated with lights and lashed by the storm, appears to bend to one side before it finally disappears and is replaced by darkness.

The speed with which a yacht built to handle the roughest seas capsized stunned maritime experts.
“I can’t remember the last time I read about a vessel going down quickly like that, you know, completely capsizing and going down that quickly, a vessel of that nature, a yacht of that size,” said Stephen Richter of SAR Marine Consulting.
British tech tycoon Mike Lynch and five of the 22 other people who were aboard the 184-foot vessel remain unaccounted for and are believed to be trapped in the Bayesian’s hull, nearly 170 feet underwater.

Officials confirmed Monday that at least one person, the ship’s cook, had died.
Missing revealed as divers search superyacht that sank in storm off Sicily
British tech magnate Mike Lynch, 2 US citizens among missing after luxury yacht sinks off Sicily
Superyachts like the Bayesian, which had been available for charters at a rate of $215,000 a week, are designed to stay afloat even as they are taking on water to give the people aboard a chance to escape, Richter said.
“Boats of this size, they’re taking passengers on an excursion or a holiday,” Richter said. “They are not going to put them in situations where it may be dangerous or it may be uncomfortable, so this storm that popped up was obviously an anomaly. These vessels that carry passengers, they’re typically very well-maintained, very well-appointed.”
Built by Italian shipbuilder Perini Navi in 2008, the U.K.-registered Bayesian could carry 12 guests and a crew of up to 10, according to online specialist yacht sites. Its nearly 250-foot mast is the tallest aluminum sailing mast in the world, according to CharterWorld Luxury Yacht Charters.
On Tuesday, Italian rescue workers resumed the search for Lynch and the five other passengers still missing: Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah; Morgan Stanley International Chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife; and Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife.
“The fear is that the bodies got trapped inside the vessel,” Salvatore Cocina, the head of civil protection in Sicily, told Reuters .
The Bayesian is owned by a firm linked to Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, who was one of the 15 people rescued Monday after it capsized.
“It’s extremely rare for a boat of this size to sink,” Richter said.
What’s not rare is the kind of storm that sank it , said Simon Boxall, senior lecturer in oceanography at Britain’s University of Southampton.
“People assume the Mediterranean is this rather calm and passive place that never gets storms and always blue skies,” Boxall said. “In fact, you get some quite horrendous storms that are not uncommon at this time of year.”
The president of Italy’s meteorological society has said Monday’s violent storm may have involved a waterspout, essentially a tornado over water, or a downburst, which occurs more frequently but doesn’t involve the rotation of the air.
Luca Mercalli, president of the Italian Meteorology Society, also said recent temperatures may have been a factor.
“The sea surface temperature around Sicily was around 30 degrees Celsius [86 Fahrenheit], which is almost 3 degrees more than normal,” Mercalli told Reuters. “This creates an enormous source of energy that contributes to these storms.”
The Mediterranean sailing vacation was designed to be a celebration for Lynch, who two months ago was acquitted by a San Francisco jury of fraud charges stemming from the 2011 sale of his software company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion.
Prosecutors alleged that Lynch, dubbed “Britain’s Bill Gates,” and Autonomy’s vice president for finance, Stephen Chamberlain, had padded the firm’s finances ahead of the sale. Lynch’s lawyers argued that HP was so eager to acquire Autonomy that it failed to adequately check the books .
Lynch had taken Morvill, who was one of his defense attorneys, on the luxury trip.
Chamberlain was not on the Bayesian.
In what appears to be a tragic coincidence, a car struck and killed Chamberlain on Saturday as he was jogging in a village about 68 miles north of London, local police said.
“Steve fought successfully to clear his good name at trial earlier this year, and his good name now lives on through his wonderful family,” Chamberlain’s lawyer, Gary Lincenberg, said in a statement .
Henry Austin reported from London and Corky Siemaszko from New York City.

British tech tycoon Mike Lynch 'likely died of suffocation' in yacht, source reveals
British tech tycoon Mike Lynch died of suffocation after running out of oxygen, an investigative source has revealed.
Reuters has reported the verdict came after initial examinations carried out on Saturday on Mr Lynch’s body, which was recovered from the family yacht that sank off Sicily's coast last month .
Mr Lynch, his daughter Hannah, 18, an onboard cook and four guests died when the British-flagged superyacht Bayesian sank during a severe and sudden weather event off the port of Porticello, near Palermo , on August 19.
Initial results on Hannah Lynch's body, whose examinations were carried out on Saturday, were inconclusive, the source told Reuters.
The examinations succeeded only in ruling out any traumas or wounds as the cause of death and leaving open the possibilities she either ran out of oxygen or drowned.
The bodies of the dead, except for the cook, were found in cabins on the left-hand side of the 56m vessel, where the trapped passengers may have tried to search for remaining bubbles of air, the head of Palermo's Fire Brigade said last month.
Preliminary results from autopsies on four other victims - Morgan Stanley international chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judith, lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda - indicated suffocation as the likely cause of death, judicial sources said earlier this week.
Fifteen people survived, including Lynch's wife, whose company owned the Bayesian, and the yacht's captain.
Initial examinations of the Canadian-Antiguan onboard chef Recaldo Thomas indicated he died by drowning, the investigative source said on Saturday.

Mike Lynch associate Stephen Chamberlain 'died of head injury after car hit him'
Banking boss and wife 'suffocated in air bubble' on sunken Bayesian yacht
What’s causing your headache? The answer may surprise you
Further forensic tests have been ordered all the victims, with results expected in the coming weeks, the source said.
The sinking has puzzled naval experts, who said a vessel like the Bayesian, built by high-end yacht manufacturer Perini, which is owned by The Italian Sea Group, should have withstood the storm and not have sunk as quickly as it did.
Born in Ilford , Mr Lynch founded software giant Autonomy in 1996, which he went on to sell to US firm Hewlett Packard (HP) in 2011 for $11bn (£8.64bn).
The news of Mr Lynch’s demise led to an outpouring of grief in the tech community .
David Tabizel, who co-founded software giant Autonomy with him in 1996, described him as “a giant of a man”.
He tweeted: “It looks like we’ve lost our dear Dr Mike Lynch. RIP. The world has lost a genius. His family have lost a giant of a man.”

Below deck mediterranean season 9’s joe bradley is the worst lead deckhand in franchise history (he’s upset the entire team), below deck mediterranean season 9 shows captain sandy’s selfish side (she’s inconsiderate).
After facing harsh criticism and backlash for his poor performance, Below Deck Mediterranean star Johnathan Shillingford may be joining Below Deck Sailing Yacht , despite his behavior this season. Chef Jono left an impression on viewers during his first season with the Below Deck franchise. However, it wasn't a good first impression. Throughout Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 , he managed to dodge being fired by Captain Sandy Yawn, even after he almost served a charter guest something fatal .
Below Deck Med star Johnathan Shillingford hinted at his future return to the Bravo franchise with Below Deck Sailing Yacht instead.
The Below Deck Med star hinted at a return for a new charter alongside a possibly different Bravo cast and crew. Chef Jono recently shared a collage of photos on his Instagram, featuring beautiful selfies as he celebrated a successful summer charter outside of Below Deck . He fondly reminisced about the places he had been and the success of the charter. He then teased, " Next season will be a bit more unconventional. But I'm so pumped and ready to take on the next challenge. Will share with you guys very soon. "
After mentioning the next season, fans began to speculate in the comments section, with @lyfebykad wondering, " Below Deck Sailing Yacht ," with a side-eye emoji. Chef Jono liked the comment, which hinted at a possible appearance on Below Deck Sailing Yacht .
Should Chef Jono Return To Below Deck Franchise?
Captain sandy hasn't fired chef jono.
Chef Johnathan experienced a notably challenging stint on Below Deck Mediterranean , where his performance fell short of expectations. His once-self-celebrated culinary skills faced scrutiny as he struggled with inconsistent meal quality and kitchen management, leading to several guest complaints and crew frustrations. Despite his initial enthusiasm, Chef Jono's time was marked by frequent missteps , including missed service deadlines and underwhelming dishes. While his return could offer redemption and growth, his current performance hasn't justified another opportunity with the franchise . However, it did imply that fresh talent is better suited to meet the high standards of Below Deck .
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
Captain Sandy Yawn faced a difficult decision regarding Chef Jono’s performance on Below Deck Mediterranean , but she ultimately chose not to fire him, despite his struggles. Chef Jono's culinary skills had been criticized from the start, leading to several guest complaints. Although his performance fell short of expectations and created tension among the crew, Captain Sandy decided to give him a chance to improve. She valued his commitment and potential for growth, believing that Chef Jono could overcome his challenges. Her decision reflected her belief in second chances and a commitment to fostering her crew's talent , even amid backlash.
On and off the screen, Chef Jono has strived to show that his culinary skills are top-notch. He has showcased his talents through videos and photos on social media to restore his reputation as one of the most lackluster chefs to grace the Below Deck franchise. It has been his mission to demonstrate his culinary abilities, and some fans have noticed that Chef Jono can cook. However, whether he is ready to redeem himself with another season of Below Deck is another question entirely.
Below Deck Mediterranean airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
