About this boatStyled after Herreshoff’s Alerion, the Landing School 26 shows her traditional looks above the waterline, while the modern hull shape, fin keel, and spade rudder deliver modern performance. She has a fractional sailplan with roller-furling jib. The cockpit is deep with traditional teak high coamings and long bench seats, providing safety and ample room for guests or lounging with legs outstretched. The Landing School 26 performs well in light air and digs her shoulder in when it blows. Her hand-built Maine cold-molded construction is of the highest quality to be found. The Elco electric inboard drivetrain was ahead of its time when installed as original equipment by The Landing School. It propels the craft up to hull speed without the noise of a diesel auxiliary. For the occasional overnight, the low-profile house provides a v-berth, small galley, portable toilet, and two form-fit wooden seats that combine to create a traditional nautical ambiance and comfortable, cozy cabin.
