AIOU Code 1423 English-I Past Papers and Preparation Guide 2024
Education »
Preparation for code number 1423 English-I is one of the main headaches for the students. The paper has eight questions . The paper pattern consists of the questions of a letter (formal/informal), conversation, suggestions/questions, writing a paragraph, essay, and tenses ( active/passive voice, sentences , etc). We'll cover all these important questions with their preparation materials in this blog.
Spring Past Papers
Autumn past papers, spring model papers, assignments for code 1423, essay and article writing, letter writing, dialog between people, grammar and tenses (active and passive voice).
To succeed and pass the exam easily we'll take you through the general category of each question and important topics for every question. Before you know the paper pattern, you can browse through the previous papers for the past examinations in the next section.
English-I (Code 1423) Papers
In my opinion, past papers are a big resource for the preparation of the subject when it comes to the minimal time for the preparation. Not only preparation, but previous exam papers also give you a sketch and paper pattern. Due to the semester system of the AIOU past papers are categorized into the spring and autumn sections.

Previous and current semester assignments are great resources for the preparation of the final term exam.
We have a great collection of assignments for previous semesters which we'll be posting on the site. So keep visiting this page for updates!
Paper Pattern
So far we've been talking about the preparation materials like past papers, model papers, and assignments. If you've gone through all those above resources, you must have an idea of the pattern of the paper. But, here in this section, we'll go through every type of question in depth.
The main difference between the essay and article is that; essay consists of heading and sub-headings while the article does not.
The essays in general are of the length 200-300 words with the given choice to the students. Usually, there are 4 topics to choose from. You can choose any of the topics you feel comfortable with and write a full essay with headings and sub-headings .
Generally, essays can be categorized as follow:
A trip to a place/city
Advantages or disadvantages of a thing/life
Essay on health, sport
Letters are of two types; formal and informal. Formal letters include letters to the organizations and institutes while informal letters are the ones written to friends, parents, and relatives.
Letter layouts are very important . I highly suggest you go through layouts (commas, breaks, etc) to get easy marks.
Letters can be broadly categorized as follow:
Letter to your father (tell about your studies, asking him for a fee, etc)
Writing to a friend (lending, thanking, or wishing him/her)
Letter to close relatives like a sister, brother, etc
This is a real scenario-based question where students are asked to write the conversation between two friends, brothers, or two entities.
The real hack to this question can be the similar starting and ending of a conversation/dialog. The starting of a conversation between two people will always stay the same (with Salam and respect). Similarly, the ending of a conversation will also be similar no matter what topic students are asked to write on.
Grammar is an important part of the paper. Students don't need to use mind-blowing and difficult vocabulary but they need to use precise and grammatically correct sentences.
The test for the understanding of 'tenses' and grammar is done through the following type of questions:
Write synonyms of the word
Correct use of a word in a sentence
Conversion of active voice to passive voice
Correction of the verbs in sentences

Education research at Nottingham Trent University (NTU)
The programme of study supports students to produce research that generates new knowledge within professional domains in order to advance the field. Research is developed in stages and students will, through a process of supervision and cohort workshops, produce and submit a series of documents based around a research topic with direct relevance to the candidate’s own professional interest and working life.
What you'll study
This course will provide you with an opportunity to undertake a research study in a subject that supports your practice and contributes to academic and professional knowledge.
The Doctor of Education is convened into two main stages: pre-thesis stage and thesis stage. In the first part of the doctorate you will study two modules that will help support the development of your research plans. The first module will support the development of your research plan and proposal. The second more substantive module will support the gradual development of your research through the production of three documents consisting of a critical literature review, a methodological rationale and approaches in data collection and analysis.
On completion of modules 1 and 2, you will transfer to stage 2 of the Doctor of Education. At stage 2, you will work towards your final thesis and a reflexive document that closes the gap between theory and practice in relation to your final thesis.
Supporting the processes at all stages of the research process are a series of workshops that align to the modules you study and the documents you submit. They are:
Research workshop one: Research plan, questions, aims, professional context and ethics
Research workshop two: Critical literature review
Research workshop three: Research design and methodology
Research workshop four: Generating data and data analysis
Research workshop five: The thesis, the viva and being the reflexive researcher
How will I be assessed?
Unlike the PhD, which is assessed by a single thesis delivered at the end of the project, the professional doctorate structure involves students in shaping their research project around a sequence of four documents. The first two documents are submitted and assessed during the first four years of the programme of study. The remaining two documents are completed during the remainder of your time with us and are assessed by a viva voce examination.
Careers and employability
The EdD is designed to enhance knowledge and practice for a range of professionals including practitioners, policy-makers, leaders and managers, academics, teachers and teaching-related staff. It is suitable for professionals working at all levels of education from early education, primary and secondary sectors, adult and further education, higher education as well as alternative sectors of education such as community education and alternative education.

Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD)
Introduction to the program.
The PhD in Education at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) is a four to 6 year postgraduate degree program taught in English.
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. Established in 2004, with the full approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education, we are run by The University of Nottingham with cooperation from Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, a key player in the education sector in China. The University of Nottingham is in the top one percent of more than 7,500 higher education institutions worldwide and league tables consistently rank the University highly. For more info visit the page here.
About the Program
This programme is an exciting opportunity for experienced education professionals to develop the critical knowledge and skills necessary to undertake their own research and thereby improve their educational practices and contexts.
The Professional Doctorate brings people together from across education sectors to work as a cohort in a series of weekend study schools and then on an extended piece of original research. The programme is directed by Professor Anwei Feng and taught by an established team of nationally and internationally recognised education scholars who boast a wide range of expertise and experience in research, teaching and policy work.
The programme has a focus on theoretically-informed, applied educational research as a basis for understanding and transforming education understanding, practices and contexts across a range of sectors. It seeks to explore the connections between policy, research and professional knowledge and practice. At all times students will be expected to develop their own arguments and critical standpoint in relation to education research.
Programme Structure
The Professional Doctorate will recruit for an October start each year. Students will normally take a minimum of four years part-time to complete the degree although typical students may take up to six years. The programme is divided into two Parts as described below and candidates will be awarded the Professional Doctorate if they successfully complete Part II by submitting a thesis or portfolio of 50-60,000 words and undergo a viva voce examination. Progression to Part II is predicated upon successful completion of Part I.
The structuring of the programme in this way is designed to support busy professionals undergoing part time study and allows exit routes, where appropriate, for students who for whatever reason are not able to complete the full programme.
Part I (taught element: attendance at eight weekend schools)
The first part of the programme is taught in a series of eight weekend schools (Friday/Saturday; two weekend schools per module). The timing of these weekends has been provisionally planned up until 2014 and has avoided major holiday periods (for the UK, e.g. Easter, Spring Bank Holiday). All refreshments and lunches will be provided. Some participants will travel from a distance for study weekends and information about University accommodation will be made available well in advance, although applicants are free to organise their own alternative.
Accommodation costs are not included in the course fee.
The development of the cohort is central to ensuring maximum benefit from the support within the group, particularly during the later stages of the programme.
During Part I the cohort will follow the same programme. However, as we assume that participants’ education context will be the site for application of the principles learned in modules, there will be regular opportunity to focus assessed work on your own particular area of interest.
Module 1: Understanding education knowledge This introductory module explores what it means to be a researching professional by developing critical perspectives on knowledge and practice in educational settings. It considers how policy, research, professional, pedagogic and practical knowledge is created, contested and/or consumed by education policymakers, professionals and practitioners. Drawing upon a range of approaches to, and ideas about, knowledge-work the module allows participants to explore these forms of knowledge within areas of education that are of particular concern to individuals and/or subgroups within the cohort.
Module 2: Methodology and Methods for Researching Education This module explores the challenges of designing good education research studies, particularly when researching one’s context or practice. This includes consideration of the peculiar ethical and practical difficulties faced by insider researchers. Some introduction is made to common methodological frameworks and techniques but generally the emphasis is less upon research methods training and more upon developing the dispositions needed for doctoral research (eg. criticality, reflexivity, positionality).
Module 3: Reviewing Literature for Researching Education Module 3 is about how to develop a critical review of research literature, specifically in relation to students’ own professional interests. Some of the theoretical ‘big ideas’ in educational research are explored as well as how these might be used by researching professionals. The module is informed by the work covered in modules 1 and 2 and aims to integrate theory, methodology and techniques.
Module 4: Key debates and issues for researching education The final taught module builds on Module 1 and allows participants to take a more in depth look at educational practice within their own sector. Participants will explore relevant and key debates and literatures which will be useful in framing their ideas for developing the research proposal in Part II of the programme. The assessment from this module is likely to act as a springboard for the programme of research for Part II/III.
Part II (Thesis Stage)
Part II starts with compulsory attendance at the Summer School undertaken at the end of year two. There will be an expectation that participants return each year during summer school to form an ongoing community of researching education professionals. At this time relevant, optional short courses can be made available and there will be opportunities to present work in progress. There will also be an explicit focus on planning the strategic dissemination of research to colleagues, the wider profession and the education community in general.
All candidates will go through a Confirmation of Research Status process at the end the first year in Part II. This will include a submission of a paper of 10-12,000 words and will involve a Viva Voce examination.
In Part II of the programme participants undertake a sustained programme of research in their own education sub-field, focused on their own context and/or practice. This should take a minimum of two years and can take two forms:
Thesis of 50-60,000 words based on a single empirical study
Production of a 50-60,000 word Portfolio typically consisting of three linked pieces of research (3x 10,000) and a 20,000 word overview and meta-analysis. This can, where appropriate, include educational products (e.g. film, design research outputs, software) as part of the submission but this would be in addition to the requisite 50,000 words.
Entry Requirements
A candidate for the Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) degree must:
(a) be a graduate of the University of Nottingham (or any other approved university) holding a Bachelor’s degree (normally first or second class Honours or equivalent) and normally holding an appropriate Masters degree or

Structure of a PhD journey
First year candidates will undertake a research methods module in order to gain a more in-depth background in designing and conducting quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research. The first year (probationary year) is seen as a bridge between undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional experience and the required independent level of research. Candidates spend this year broadening their knowledge in the area of interest, refining their proposal, developing the methodology, securing ethical clearance, and collecting some initial data. At the end of the first year, this well-developed research proposal and the research skills gained are assessed in a mini-viva with an internal assessor. In the second year, candidates collect and analyse data, while continuously engaging with the literature and refining their chapters. The progress made this year is also assessed by an internal review, where the internal assessor determines whether requisite progress has been made in order to submit it at the end of the third year. The third year is primarily focused on preparing and writing up the thesis, which is defended in an oral examination (viva voce) by an external examiner who is an expert in the field.
MPhil students must present a thesis of up to 60,000 words, embodying the results of their advanced study and research. The thesis must satisfy the examiners regarding knowledge of the general field of scholarship to which the subject belongs. An oral examination occurs at the discretion of the examiners. PhD students must present a thesis, a maximum of 100,000 words, demonstrating originality and innovation on the subject of their advanced study and research. The thesis must satisfy examiners regarding knowledge of the general field of scholarship to which the subject belongs. They must also present themselves for an oral examination on the subject of their thesis and its general field of scholarship.
Entry requirements
All candidates are considered on an individual basis and we accept a broad range of qualifications. The entrance requirements below apply to 2024 entry.
A master’s degree, normally with a merit grade (or international equivalent) in a relevant discipline and some experience in research methodology, (e.g., postgraduate level dissertation or research project) plus, an upper second class honours degree. Non-UK qualifications will be assessed against this standard.

A Nottingham doctor made racist remarks about his patients, a tribunal has heard. Dr Balvinder Mehat, a GP partner at Bakersfield Medical Centre , is accused of being hostile to people based on their race or religion.
At a Medical Practitioners Tribunal held on Wednesday, August 28, he admitted to making the remarks but not that they were racist. The General Medical Council (GMC) argue these actions "demonstrate hostility based on race or religion" and were "motivated wholly or partly by racial or religious hostility". It said the alleged misconduct impaired the doctor's fitness to practice.
The tribunal, expected to conclude on Tuesday, September 3, will determine whether Dr Mehat's actions amount to misconduct and if so, will hand out an appropriate punishment. An apology was published on the Bakersfield Medical Centre website on November 16.

"I understand that a voice recording has been circulated on social media that caused offence to some of our population," Dr Mehat wrote. "I apologise for the comments made in the recording. I would like to assure you that these comments are not in keeping with our practice ethos."
The tribunal, taking place in Manchester, continues. Dr Mehat, who has been at the practice since 1989, was previously suspended for one month in late 2019 after circumcising a boy without his mother's consent. The doctor is currently facing a GMC investigation regarding a circumcision carried out without the father's consent in 2022.
Dr Mehat was also suspended for one month in early 2019 due to his "cavalier attitude" as a landlord. He admitted to 14 failures at Houses of Multiple Occupany (HMOs) he owned, including a failure to ensure fire alarms were maintained in good working order.

Stem (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), ph.d. or ed.d..
The College of Education, Health and Human Sciences (EHHS) has a specialization in STEM education within its Ph.D. in education. The college focuses on the disciplines within STEM not only because the skills and knowledge in each discipline are essential for student success, but also because these disciplines are deeply intertwined in the real world and in how students learn most effectively.
There are various areas of expertise and experience in EHHS that include but are not limited to:
K-12 STEM Education
Math and Science Education
Engineering and Technology Education
Indigenous STEM Education
Experiential STEM Education
Because there is so much variance among study plans in the STEM Education specialization based on students’ backgrounds and focus, a sample program sheet is not provided. Contact the associate dean for the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences for specific information regarding a given focus within STEM Education.

Kemi Badenoch takes on Doctor Who as Conservative leadership race heats up with return of MPs

I would like to be emailed about offers, event and updates from Evening Standard. Read our privacy notice .
Kemi Badenoch launched her Conservative leadership campaign on Monday with a pointed attack on Doctor Who actor David Tennant that provoked some ridicule online.
MPs were returning to Westminster after the summer break with the six Tory candidates seeking support ahead of the first round of voting in their leadership race on Wednesday.
At her formal launch in Westminster, Ms Badenoch lashed out at Labour and called for change in the Conservative Party after its demoralising defeat by Sir Keir Starmer in July.
The shadow communities secretary, the bookmakers’ favourite to replace Rishi Sunak , said her party has to “focus on renewal” to be ready to return to power.
Reflecting on where it went wrong under previous leaders, she said: “We talked right but governed left, sounding like Conservatives but acting like Labour. Government should do fewer things, but what it does, it should do with brilliance.”
Leadership rival James Cleverly , who won the endorsement of Tory heavy-hitter Grant Shapps , used his own speech on Monday to say “we must think and act like Conservatives again”, arguing for a smaller state and that he was “uniquely suited” to unite the party and country.
Showing she means to stay on the frontlines of the “culture wars”, Ms Badenoch’s launch video replayed a clip in which Tennant accepted a prize at the British LGBT Awards in June and urged the top Tory to “shut up”.
The former equalities minister says in the clip: “No, I will not shut up.
“When you have that type of cultural establishment trying to keep Conservatives down, you need someone like me who's not afraid of Doctor Who or whoever, and who is going to take the fight to them and not let them try and keep us down.
“That's not going to happen with me.”
The video ends with the Conservative reminding viewers of how to say her surname, to pronounce it ‘Bayd-e-noch’ rather than Bad-e-noch.
“There is no bad in my name - I just want people to be clear on that,” she says.
The video raised eyebrows on X (formerly Twitter), with several users querying why Ms Badenoch was taking on a popular actor rather than spelling out her policy goals to rebuild the Tories in opposition.
“We do not want fights with actors and grandstanding,” one said. “If you cannot be serious and actually listen to the concerns of voters and attempt not to make it all about you, then you should just drop out now.”
But Ms Badenoch defended her combative approach to politics, arguing at her launch that “people who say that all I did was culture wars were not paying attention”.
“I was doing my job. I was the equalities minister. I had to look after very, very tricky issues like race and gender – things that everybody ran away from,” she said, insisting that her despatch box attacks on Labour in the Commons showed how she would be “taking the fight to Keir Starmer” if elected as Tory leader.
The top Tories bidding to succeed Mr Sunak as party leader ramped up their campaigns to avoid getting knocked out of the contest within days.
Conservative MPs, who now number only 121 in Parliament after the party’s disastrous election loss in July, will vote on Wednesday to eliminate one of the six candidates from the leadership race.
A second vote will take place, if needed, the following Monday to reduce the number of contenders to four.
It is possible, though, that the MP getting the second lowest backing from MPs this Wednesday may withdraw from the contest which would mean there was no need for the Monday vote.
The build-up to the ballot has already seen major speeches by candidates Tom Tugendhat , Dame Priti Patel and Robert Jenrick in recent days.
Both Ms Badenoch and Mr Cleverly were making campaign speeches on Monday.
Ms Badenoch said: “We have to focus on renewal. The renewal of our party, our politics and our thinking.”
She added: “The British people are yearning for something better and this Labour government is not it.
“They have no ideas. At best they are re-announcing things we have already done.”
Mr Cleverly said the Tories “must get our act together” to present solutions to “an unstable world, global migration and a crisis of confidence in capitalism”.
The shadow home secretary argued for “family-first resilience” rather than looking to the state as the first port of call when a problem arises.
“We accept that the state has a primary duty to protect its people and its borders. But Conservatives must be honest about the trade-offs in doing these things properly,” he said.
“The state should focus on doing fewer things well, not everything badly.”
Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Mr Cleverly also said he wanted to abolish stamp duty on all home purchases, calling it a “bad tax”.
The field of six candidates - which also includes Mel Stride - will be whittled down to four by the time of the Conservative conference in Birmingham at the end of the month.
After that, MPs will carry out further rounds of voting to select two final candidates for the Conservative members to choose between, with the result announced on November 2.
To get into the last four, a contender needs 24 votes from Tory MPs.
Mr Jenrick’s team are confident he has a clear path to gain the backing of 41 MPs to make the shortlist in Birmingham.
He has made 72 visits to meet local Tories across the country so far in his campaign, and his allies say he has the backing of 16 Tory MPs so far including the newly announced support of shadow justice secretary Edward Argar.
The former immigration minister is seeking to present himself as the most credible candidate to win back millions of voters who switch from the Tories to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.
He backs withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights and replacing it with a British Bill of Rights.
Mr Jenrick, who resigned from Mr Sunak’s government over the failure to take a more hardline approach to reduce immigration, supports a tougher Rwanda policy and Parliament setting a cap on annual legal migration in the tens of thousands.
He believes that Reform needs to be taken on to create space to also seek to win back voters who deserted his party to the Liberal Democrats and Labour, in London and other regions, by showing it is competent and professional on the economy and improving public services.

The University of Idaho awards the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in recognition of high achievement in scholarly and research activity. The degree of Doctor of Education is granted for high scholarly attainment and in recognition of the completion of academic preparation for professional practice. See the "Ph.D. and Ed.D. Procedures" tab for more details. The Doctor of Athletic Training is offered through the College of Education and the Department of Movement Sciences (see the "DAT Procedures" tab for more details).
The major professor and program offering a particular doctoral program indicate the general philosophy of the degree program, the objectives of courses and seminars, the research specialties available, and requirements unique to the department. Admission to the doctoral program is granted only to those who have a recognized potential for completing the degree.
Requirements for Doctoral Degrees
Credit requirements.
For the Ph.D. and Ed.D., a minimum of 78 credits beyond the bachelor's degree is required.; At least 52 credits must be at the 500 level or above and at least 33 of the 78 credits must be in courses other than 600 (Doctoral Research and Dissertation). A maximum of 45 research credits in 600 (Doctoral Research and Dissertation) including 6 credits of 599 (Non-thesis Research) or 500 (Master's Research and Thesis) may be in the 45 research credits used toward the degree. For the D.A.T., a minimum of 66 credits is required and follows a prescribed set of courses set by the program.
Courses numbered below 300 may not be used to fulfill the requirements for a doctoral degree; courses numbered 300-399 may be used only in supporting areas and are not to be used to make up deficiencies. Individual programs may require additional course work. Applicants having a doctoral degree may obtain a second doctoral degree subject to the approval of the Graduate Council. The Graduate Council will establish the requirements for the second degree.
Credit Limitations for Transfer, Correspondence Study, and Non-degree
For the Ph.D. and Ed.D. degrees, a student must complete at least 39 of the 78 required credits at the University of Idaho (U of I) while matriculated in the College of Graduate Studies. Credits can be transferred to U of I with the consent of the student's major professor, the committee (if required by the program), the program's administrator, and the dean of the College of Graduate Studies. Credits can be transferred only if the institution from which the credits are being transferred has a graduate program in the course's discipline. All credits used toward graduate degrees must be from regionally accredited American institutions or from non-US institutions recognized by the appropriate authorities in their respective countries. Transfer credits are subject to all other College of Graduate Studies rules and regulations. Correspondence study courses may be applied to the degree only with the prior written approval of the College of Graduate Studies. Courses used toward an undergraduate degree, professional development courses, and courses on a professional development transcript are not available to be used toward a doctoral degree.
Time Limits
Of the credits submitted to satisfy the requirements for a Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree, a maximum of 30 may be more than eight years old when the degree is conferred, provided the student's committee and program administrator determine that the student has kept current in the subjects concerned. Graduation must occur no later than five years after the date on which the candidate passed their preliminary or general examination. These time limitations can be extended only on recommendation of the committee and approval by the Graduate Council.
Awarding Doctoral Degrees to Members of the Faculty
Regulations are outlined in Section 4920 of the Faculty-Staff Handbook.
Particular Requirements for the Ed.D. Degree
A period of professional practice is required for the Doctor of Education degree; the period involved is determined by the student's supervisory committee. While the Ed.D. is a College of Education degree, you should consult with the departments in the College of Education to learn of specific emphasis requirements.
Procedures for Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Education Degrees
Appointment of major professor and committee.
Refer to " Appointment of Major Professor and Committee for All Degree Seeking Graduate Students " in the preceding General Graduate Regulations section. In addition, a doctoral supervisory committee consists of at least four people: the major professor as chair and at least one additional UI faculty member from the program, the balance of the committee may be made up of faculty members from a minor or supporting area, and faculty members from a discipline outside the major. If the committee has a co-chair, the minimum number of committee members is five.
Qualifying Examination
The qualifying examination is a program option and serves to assess the background of the student in both the major and supporting fields and to provide partially the basis for preparation of the student's study program. A particular program may or may not require a master's degree as a prerequisite for the qualifying evaluation. As soon as the program's qualifications are met, a supervisory committee is appointed.
Preparation of Study Plan
Refer to " Preparation and Submission of Study Plan " in the preceding General Graduate Regulations section.
Preliminary Examination for Ph.D. Degree
The preliminary examination should be scheduled only after the student has completed the majority of the courses on their study plan. The student is required to be registered during the semester the preliminary examination is taken. The student's committee certifies to the College of Graduate Studies the results of the preliminary examination and if passed, the student is advanced to candidacy. Graduation must occur no later than five years after the date on which the candidate passed their examination. If the preliminary examination is failed, it may be repeated only once; the repeat examination must be taken within a period of not less than three months or more than one year following the first attempt. If a student fails the preliminary examination a second time, or the program does not allow the student to repeat the examination after the first failure or the student does not retake the examination within one year, the student is automatically moved to unclassified enrollment status and is no longer in the degree program.
General Examination for Ed.D . Degree
When the student approaches the end of their course work, has completed the professional experience requirement, and has outlined the dissertation subject in detail, the supervisory committee approves the holding of the general examination. The student is required to be registered during the semester the general examination is taken. The examination is both written and oral and is intended to assess progress toward degree objectives. The student's committee certifies to the College of Graduate Studies the results of the general examination and if passed, the student is advanced to candidacy. Graduation must occur no later than five years after the date on which the candidate passed their examination. If the general examination is failed, it may be repeated only once; the repeat examination must be taken within a period of not less than three months or more than one year following the first attempt. If a student fails the general examination a second time, or the program does not allow the student to repeat the examination after the first failure or the student does not retake the examination within one year, the student is automatically moved to unclassified status and is no longer in the degree program.
See the General Graduate Regulations section regarding application for advanced degree, registration requirements, final defense and dissertation requirements.
Procedures for Doctor of Athletic Training
The culminating clinical project.
Students enrolled in the Doctor of Athletic Training (D.A.T.) will engage in research projects during the curricular phase of the program. These project(s) will lead to at least two publication ready manuscripts, and all students must meet professional authorship requirements (regardless of order). See the Department of Movement Sciences and Doctor of Athletic Training webpages for more information.
The Team (Committee)
All D.A.T. project team committees will have at least four committee members: two members of the athletic training faculty (all with graduate faculty status), the student's attending clinician (who is the student's on-site mentor during the student's residency), and an expert in the student's chosen area of clinical research. The athletic training faculty members will always chair the CCP, provide research guidance, and serve as the experts in the development of advanced practice in Athletic Training. A situation may arise in which one or both of the members of the committee that are outside of the AT program faculty may have a degree less than that of which the student is seeking; however, the intent of the third and fourth D.A.T. committee membership is to provide outside validation of the student's progress toward advanced practice and clinical utility of action research studies.
Culminating Clinical Project Hours
These dissertation hours may be used in instances when the CCP has not been successfully completed and the curricular phase of program has been completed.
