By Katia Damborsky   17 October 2018

Playing host to a star-studded party in Taylor Swift’s ‘End Game’ music video, the 53m/174ft motor yacht MIZU showed off her decadent new interiors and stand-out amenities on location in Miami .

Charter yacht MIZU can now count Taylor Swift among her notable guests after appearing in the glitzy music video for the singer's chart-topping single End Game , featuring Ed Sheeran and rapper Future.

Including stunning shots of the superyacht glittering off the coast of Miami and a closer look at the yacht’s freshly-refitted interiors, it’s easy to see why Swift chose MIZU for the party scenes.

The video opens with Swift and her entourage dancing on the sun deck in front of the illuminated spa pool and marble-topped wet bar. It then takes viewers inside, where the yacht’s luxurious interiors can be admired up close. The frosted wet bar in the main salon makes an appearance, as does the glass-embossed central stairwell where Future and Swift are posed.

In other shots, the pair can be seen on the foredeck against the backdrop of the sparkling Miami coastline. The word ‘Rep’ is lit up behind them, in reference to Swift’s clothing line and an abbreviation of her latest album titled Reputation , on which End Game  features.

Shot across three different locations, Ed Sheeran makes an appearance later in the London and Tokyo portions of the music video.

Launched by Oceanfast in 2004, the motor yacht is a popular charter option with a superb selection of on-board facilities including a private cinema and basketball ring on the main deck.

Esteemed design firm Sam Sorgiovanni are responsible for the interior and exterior of the yacht, and have used plush carpets, glass furnishings and sophisticated cream tones to create an opulent and elegant on-board ambience. Meaning of Or that I'd like to be on a mega yacht

In Taylor Swift's song "Now That We Don't Talk," the overarching themes revolve around the aftermath of a breakup, the loss of communication, and the emotional journey towards self-discovery. Through her heartfelt lyrics, Swift delves into the complex emotions and experiences that come with the end of a relationship. One particular line that stands out is, "Or that I'd like to be on a mega yacht." While at first glance, this line may seem like a casual mention of a desire for luxury and extravagance, it actually contributes to the overall imaginative theme of the song. The mention of a mega yacht symbolizes a desire to escape the pain and heartache that often accompany a breakup. It represents the longing for a life of opulence, freedom, and the ability to leave behind the memories and emotions associated with the lost relationship. The theme of seeking solace through materialistic pursuits is not uncommon in songs about heartbreak. It reflects the idea that sometimes, when faced with emotional turmoil, we may fantasize about a life far removed from our current reality. This longing for escape serves as a coping mechanism, allowing one to momentarily forget their pain and imagine a life of luxury and grandeur. Moreover, the mention of a mega yacht carries a deeper meaning related to power and independence. In popular culture, mega yachts are often associated with wealth, success, and the ability to navigate vast oceans freely. By expressing her desire to be on a mega yacht, Swift conveys her desire to reclaim power and assert her independence in the face of a failed relationship. The line also hints at the concept of reinvention and transformation. Swift wishes to shed her past and embrace a new identity, one that is untethered from the pain of the breakup. Just as a mega yacht glides effortlessly through the water, Swift wants to navigate her life with confidence, leaving behind the heartbreak and embracing the freedom to discover new possibilities. In a broader sense, this line represents the instinctive human response to seek refuge from pain and distress. It reminds us that during challenging times, we may find solace in imaginative pursuits, allowing our minds to wander and dream of a reality free from heartache.Ultimately, the line "Or that I'd like to be on a mega yacht" serves as a creative expression of longing, escapism, and the desire for personal growth in the aftermath of a breakup. It adds depth and imagination to the song's overarching themes of loss, self-reflection, and moving on. Through her thoughtful lyricism, Taylor Swift invites listeners to explore their own aspirations and desires while navigating the complexities of relationships and personal growth.

See Taylor Swift Direct Epic Yacht Scene from 'The Man' Video: 'They're All Focused on Me, Sorry!'

The Grammy winner played double duty on set of her "The Man" music video shoot

Melody Chiu is an Executive Editor at PEOPLE overseeing music, events and emerging content. She has been with the brand since 2009, editing, writing and reporting across all entertainment verticals. She has written cover stories on Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Melissa McCarthy, Blake Shelton, Jordan Turpin and Sandra Oh. The Los Angeles native graduated from the University of Southern California and has appeared on Extra! , The Talk, Access Hollywood and Good Morning America .

It may have been her directorial debut, but Taylor Swift was right at home on the set of her music video for “The Man .”

In a behind-the-scenes clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE, the singer — who’s previously co-directed music videos (including for her hit songs “Lover” and “ You Need to Calm Down “) — the Grammy winner, 30, is fully at the helm.

“You know, this shoot was so hilarious because … I would just tell the actors what was going on and how I wanted them to react,” says Swift — whose director of photography was Rodrigo Prieto ( The Irishman, The Wolf of Wallstreet) — in the clip. “We would just roll.”

Working on a scene in which her alter-ego “Tyler Swift” parties with a gaggle of young, bikini-clad models on a yacht, Swift elicits laughs from the cast and crew as she plots out specific details.

“I was wondering if it’s funny if Brett is somewhere in the frame very, very … feeling left out, dejected and not having a good time,” says a costume-clad Swift about the actor portraying a crew member who has to put up with Tyler’s boorish behavior. “None of the girls are looking at you ’cause they’re all focused on me. Sorry!”

Earlier this month, Swift released her highly anticipated music video for the feminist anthem in which she imagines what her life would be like if she were, well, a man.

Fans were giddily shocked by the singer’s astonishing transformation into a dark-haired, bearded man who urinates on a wall, man-spreads on the subway and loses his temper during a tennis match.

The superstar — who also wore muscle suits under her clothes for the video — previously revealed it took “five hours every morning” for her makeup artist Bill Corso and his team to turn her into Tyler.

“I had no idea what they do to your body to make it look different. I have muscle suits on underneath things,” said Swift in another behind-the-scenes clip. “I don’t even want to talk about what else, I don’t even want to tell you about it, this is a family show.”

Over the last year, Swift has been vocal about the pressures women face in Hollywood.

“It was a song that I wrote from my personal experience, but also from a general experience that I’ve heard from women in all parts of our industry . I think that the more we can talk about it in a song like that, the better off we’ll be in a place to call it out when it’s happening,” she previously told Billboard about writing the track . “ So many of these things are ingrained in even women, these perceptions, and it’s really about re-training your own brain to be less critical of women when we are not criticizing men for the same things.”

Here Are All the Easter Eggs From Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ Vault Tracks: Harry Styles, Past Songs & More

1989 (Taylor's Version) dropped Oct. 27.

When she first announced 1989 (Taylor’s Version) back in August, Taylor Swift wrote on social media that the project was her “most FAVORITE re-record” she’s ever done because “the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane.”

“I can’t believe they were ever left behind,” she added at the time. “But not for long!”

Flash forward to Oct. 27, and it’s clear that the 33-year-old pop star wasn’t kidding. The five “From the Vault” tracks have got to be some of the most detailed, vulnerable and visceral previously unreleased songs that Swift has retroactively put out, arguably beating out Vault songs from July’s Speak Now re-release and 2021’s Fearless and Red . (Well, maybe aside from “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).”)

Taylor Swift

Every 'From the Vault' Song Ranked on '1989 (Taylor's Version)'

As Swifties have been quick to notice, the singer-songwriter’s newly uncovered tracks — originally written circa 2013-2014 — appear to be riddled with references to Swift’s life, relationships and past work. Namely, the vault songs feel especially reminiscent of the wavy-haired, Gucci suit-wearing elephant in the room: Harry Styles, who dated Swift in 2012 and is the rumored muse behind many of the songs on the original 1989 ( cough cough , “Style”).

As prominent as the themes of romantic love and loss are on 1989 , its most important lasting effect is perhaps the artistic renaissance it meant for Swift, who made a sharp pivot from country to pop and claimed a newfound independence with the album in 2014. “I was born in 1989, reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was reclaimed in 2023 with the re-release of this album I love so dearly,” she wrote on Instagram following the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) . “This moment is a reflection of the woods we’ve wandered through and all this love between us still glowing in the darkest dark.”

The  pop  superstar is this year’s leading  Billboard Music Awards  finalist. You can watch the BBMAs on Nov. 19 on  Billboard  and the BBMA’s social media channels, as well as  here .

Keep reading to see all of the hidden Easter eggs Billboard could find in Swift’s 1989 vault tracks, mostly co-written and produced by Jack Antonoff, below:

Taylor Swift, 1989

Swift has long been open about the public slut-shaming she’s faced over the course of her career, specifically in the years leading up to 1989 ‘s original release in 2014. The lyrics on “Slut!” find the star falling in love with someone while staying keenly aware of the misogynistic consequences she’ll face once the world finds out.

  • “Love thorns all over this rose”: A possible reference to the “Blank Space” line “Rose garden filled with thorns.”
  • “I’ll pay the price, you won’t”: Swift seems to call out how only the woman in a relationship will be scrutinized for a romance gone awry, while men make it out scot-free.
  • “The sticks and stones they throw froze midair/ Everyone wants him, that was my crime”: Fans may remember the hate Swift used to get from some One Direction fans who weren’t keen on her dating their favorite heartthrob.
  • “In a world of boys, he’s a gentleman”: Possibly a cheeky nod to Styles’ profession at the time Swift dated him — a singer in a “boy” band.

"Say Don't Go"

Taylor Swift, 1989

This track, co-written with master songwriter Diane Warren, is full of unrelenting anxiety that mirrors “Out of the Woods” and “I Know Places.”

  • “The waiting is a sadness/ Fading into madness”: A possible callback to a lyric from “Wonderland,” a deluxe 1989 track about someone with “green eyes” (like a certain former boy bander) and a “Cheshire Cat smile” — “And in the end, in Wonderland, we both went mad.”
  • “I’m standin’ on the sidewalk alone … I’m tryna see the cards that you won’t show”: This parallels lyrics from Speak Now ‘s “Spark’s Fly” — “The way you move is like a full on rainstorm, and I’m a house of cards … Kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain.”

"Now That We Don't Talk"

Taylor Swift, 1989

“Now That We Don’t Talk” is a song full of things Swift wishes she could say, but can’t — similar to sister 1989 tracks “I Wish You Would” and “How You Get the Girl.”

  • “You part the crowd like the Red Sea”: Though clearly a Biblical reference, invoking the color red could also connect this song to Midnights ‘ “Maroon,” which many fans believe is also about Styles.
  • “You grew your hair long … And from the outside/ It looks like you’re tryin’ lives on”: The “Watermelon Sugar” singer sported long hair in 2014.
  • “I don’t have to pretend I like acid rock/ Or that I’d like to be on a mega yacht/ With important men who think important thoughts”: This line calls back to lyrics on “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” — “Find your peace of mind with some indie record that’s much cooler than mine”; as well as “I Bet You Think About Me” — “I tried to fit in with your upper-crust circles … They sit around talking ’bout the meaning of life/ And the book that just saved ’em that I hadn’t heard of.”
  • “And the only way back to my dignity/ Was to turn into a shrouded mystery”: This feels like an allusion to Swift’s self-admitted attempt to shake off media scrutiny into her love life. “I swore off hanging out with guys, dating, flirting or anything that could be weaponized against me by a culture that claimed to believe in liberating women but consistently treated me with the harsh moral codes of the Victorian Era,” she writes in the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) prologue.

"Suburban Legends"

Taylor Swift, 1989

“Suburban Legends” proves that Swift has been stewing on small-town high-school metaphors long before Lover ‘s “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince” or many of the songs on Folklore and Evermore.

  • “I had the fantasy that maybe our mismatched star signs/ Would surprise the whole school”: Swift and Styles have differing Zodiac signs — Sagittarius and Aquarius, respectively. This stands in contrast to someone like, say, Jake Gyllenhaal, who is also a Sagittarius and is rumored to have inspired the “State of Grace” lyric “Twin fire signs, four blue eyes.”
  • “You’d be more than a chapter in my old diaries”: Given that Swift has shared she’s kept dozens of diaries over the course of her life and even released pages from a few of them to promote Lover in 2019, this line probably isn’t merely a metaphor.
  • “I am standin’ in a 1950s gymnasium”: This line parallels Folklore ‘s “Betty” –“Your favorite song was playing/ From the far side of the gym.”
  • “When you told me we’d get back together”: A possible reference to “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”
  • “Waves crash on the shore, I dash to the door”: Water is a recurring theme throughout 1989 , from “This Love” (“Clear blue water/ High tide came and brought you in”) to “Clean” (“Rain came pouring down/ When I was drowning, that’s when I could finally breathe”).

Taylor Swift's '1989 (Taylor's Version)' album cover review vault tracks

It was a very good year, 1989 was. And by 1989, of course we mean 2014. That’s the year Taylor Swift put out her biggest and most transformative album, ensuring that, for the rest of our lives, any citation of “1989” will make just about anyone in the world immediately think of “Shake It Off” and “Bad Blood,” not “My Prerogative” or “Wind Beneath My Wings” or any of the music that actually came out in Swift’s birth year.

Popular on variety.

Plainly put, in the “1989” Vault tracks, she’s falling for a higher class of rogue. And mourning them just a little less, when things don’t work out. None of the gut-wrenching anguish of “All Too Well,” here (10-minute version or five-minute version). Even as she still registers the pain of separations, there’s also a sense of no great loss in some of these old/new tunes. “I call my mom / She says that it was for the best / Remind myself the more I gave, you’d want me less,” she sings in “Now That We Don’t Talk,” the most pungent and possibly the best of the five Vault tracks. “I don’t have to pretend I like acid rock / Or that I’d like to be on a mega yacht / With important men who speak important thoughts / Guess maybe I am better off / Now that we don’t talk.” She even kind of prophesies the defensive retreat of the “Reputation” era to come when she adds: “And the only way back to my dignity / Was to turn into a shrouded mystery / Just like I had been when you were chasing me.” The benefits of the silent treatment have never been better articulated.

Anyone looking for clues as to who these songs might have been about IRL may be stymied here, although there’s at leat one intriguing detail in the closing song, “Is It Over Now?”: The line “When you lost control / Red blood, white snow” seems to mark this number as at least a cousin to “Out of the Woods,” with its eternally memorable snowmobile accident. She’s got a few smart remarks for this guy, whoever he was or wasn’t: “You dream of my mouth before it called you ‘a lying traitor’ / You search in every model’s bed for something greater, baby.” (You sense she throws in the “baby” because sometimes a rhyme that lands too exactly doesn’t sound quite conversational enough.) “At least I had the decency to keep my nights out of sight,” she adds, further poking the bear for becoming the talk of the town for his indiscretions … even though she admits to her own elsewhere in the song.

Why weren’t these songs picked up for the original “1989” album? Well, besides the fact that she already had 16 corkers, you can see a few areas of lyrical or thematic overlap that were probably best avoided. Listen to “Say Don’t Go,” for instance — the closest thing to a pure ballad here, and the one song not co-written with Antonoff, but with Diane Warren instead. (Who knew they once worked together? Now we do.) “I would stay forever if you say ‘Stay, don’t go,’” she sings. Well, she already had one definitive “stay” song on the album — “All You Had to Do Was Stay,” and as has become her growing custom, she went with the weirder one.

If none of these songs come off as total tragedies, that’s partly because of the slightly tempered nature of her lyric-writing at the time — although she was still capable of reeling off all-or-nothing lines like “You kiss me in a way that’s gonna ruin me forever.” But it’s also because the music beds that she and Antonoff have come up with in the here-and-now for these songs has a mid-tempo throb that is going for pleasure more than abject sadness. “Is It Over Now” sounds like nothing so much as it does “Bejeweled,” the most cheerful — and sheen-iest — “Midnights” track. “Now That We Don’t Talk” has the light pop-suspense feel that characterized the last album’s “Mastermind.” Watching the lyric video for “’Slut!,’” with its background images of champagne and palm trees, you may think of a summertime that doesn’t feel all that cruel, after all.

The ”1989” Vault turns out not to have any songs that would have been obvious singles, like “I Can See You,” from the “Speak Now” re-do that came out just months ago. Or if there are any leftover Max Martin/Shellback cuts still somewhere in the can, she decided to keep them there for now, in favor of emphasizing what she’s got going now with Antonoff. It’s a good call, in my mind, to make the first Vault section that sounds kind of all of a piece, and a modern-day piece. She knows what never goes out of style, even if that means reverse-engineering some of her older writing here to feel like it takes place just before midnight.

How Taylor Swift subtly addresses her iconic sad boat photo on 1989 (Taylor's Version)

Sad Keanu, but make it Taylor's Version.

mega yacht taylor swift

You've heard of the Sad Keanu meme , but have you heard of Sad Taylor?

Longtime Swifties will recall a photo that made the rounds online in 2013 (below), featuring Taylor Swift sitting glumly by herself on a boat in the Virgin Islands wearing a blue dress and black sunglasses. According to reports at the time , Swift and Harry Styles had been vacationing together, got into a disagreement, and broke up, with said photo capturing her leaving the trip alone. (It all worked out for Swift, though, who would go on to create 1989 , her second record to win the coveted Grammy for Album of the Year.)

While the music video for the 1989 song "Out of the Woods" featured Swift in a blue dress, leading some to speculate if it was the dress or perhaps an allusion to it, she's never overtly addressed the "sad boat photo" moment in her music... until now.

On the just-released re-recording of the album, 1989 (Taylor's Version) , the all-new vault track "Is It Over Now?" contains a fairly obvious nod to the alleged incident with the lyrics, "Blue dress / On a boat / Your new girl / Is my clone." (Fans have also pointed out that the latter half of the lyric seems like a companion or response to Styles' song "From the Dining Table," which includes the lyrics, "Woke up the girl who looked just like you / I almost said your name.")

"Is It Over Now?" is a breakup song from the perspective of a narrator wondering exactly when a doomed relationship ended (while also getting in a few good jabs at the ex, naturally). It seems to include several other references to Styles, including that infamous alleged snowmobile accident in 2012 , lending credence to the theory that it could be about the former couple and their ill-fated trip to the Caribbean — and by extension, yes, that sadly hilarious photo.

If "Is It Over Now?" is a vault track new to most listeners' ears, it was technically written back around the time the rest of 1989 was. Swift and Styles have since moved on. They appeared to have no bad blood when they were seen chatting it up and applauding each other at the 2021 Grammys, and then fist-bumping at the 2023 ceremony, much to fans' delight. The two globe-conquering pop stars would probably laugh about it all today.

A decade after it went viral the first time, a photo of Taylor Swift in a blue dress on a boat is circulating on the internet again after she referenced it in her new song, “Is It Over Now?”

“Is It Over Now?” is the fifth “From the Vault” track and the last song on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , a re-release of Taylor’s fifth studio album, 1989 , which was first released in 2014 and won the Grammy for Album of the Year.

Taylor Swift’s blue dress on a boat photo explained

1989 (taylor’s version) by taylor swift.

1989 Taylor's Version

According to People, the photo of Taylor Swift in a blue dress on the boat was taken while was sitting in customs. Styles, meanwhile, stayed on the vacation and even paid a visit to business magnate Richard Branson’s private island. “Richard Branson heard Harry was staying nearby so invited him to come check out Necker,” a source told Business Insider at the time. “So when Taylor left for the states, Harry went to Branson’s island for the day to let off some steam.”

(Is it? Is it? Is it? Is it? Is it?)

Once the flight had flown (Uh-huh)

With the wilt of the rose (Uh-huh)

I slept all alone (Uh-huh)

You still wouldn’t go

[Pre-Chorus]

Let’s fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later

I see your profile and your smile on unsuspecting waiters

You dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor

You search in every maiden’s bed for somethin’ greater, baby

Was it over when she laid down on your couch?

Was it over when he unbuttoned my blouse?

“Come here,” I whispered in your ear

In your dream as you passеd out, baby

Was it over then? And is it over now?

[Post-Chorus]

(Is it? Is it? Is it?)

Whеn you lost control (Uh-huh)

Red blood, white snow (Uh-huh)

Your new girl is my clone

And did you think I didn’t see you?

There were flashin’ lights

At least I had the decency

To keep my nights out of sight

Only rumors ’bout my hips and thighs

And my whispered sighs

Oh, Lord, I think about jumpin’

Off of very tall somethings

Just to see you come runnin’

And say the one thing I’ve been wanting, but no

Let’s fast forward to three hundred awkward blind dates later

If she’s got blue eyes, I will surmise that you’ll probably date her (Oh, no)

You dream of my mouth before it called you a lying traitor (Oh)

You search in every model’s bed for somethin’ greater, baby

In your dream as you passed out, baby

(Is it? Is it?)

Think I didn’t see you?

Just to see you come runnin’ (Runnin’)

Flashin’ lights, oh, Lord (Oh)

Let’s fast forward to three hundred takeout coffees later (Oh)

(Flashin’ lights) I was hoping you’d be there

And say the one thing (Oh, Lord)

I’ve been wanting (Oh, Lord)

Kamala Harris Is ‘Very Proud’ to Have Taylor Swift’s Vote — Even Though They Disagreed on Last Year’s Super Bowl

By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

Kamala Harris celebrated securing the endorsement of Taylor Swift , saying she was “very proud” to have the pop star’s support on Wired ’s “Autocomplete Interview” series.

The series finds celebrities answering questions based on Google autocomplete search results, and unsurprisingly, one thing that pops up when you search Harris’ name these days, is Swift’s name. Swift announced that she would be voting for Harris earlier this month, saying the VP “fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

Harris, in turn, called Swift an “incredible artist” and said, “I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes is right.”

In her endorsement, Swift also said she thought Harris was “a steady-handed, gifted leader” and believed we could “accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.” She also celebrated Harris’ selection of Tim Walz as her vice presidential candidate for his record of “standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

One person who, obviously, wasn’t thrilled about Swift’s endorsement of Harris was Donald Trump . At first, Trump tried to brush off losing the endorsement of the most famous person in the world by calling Swift a “very liberal person” and suggesting “she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.” But he couldn’t help from revealing just how big mad he was a few days later when he posted on Truth Social, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT .”

SNYDE | Taylor Swift drops her version of ‘1989’ — with Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Bad Blood’ remix

Taylor Swift

“1989 (Taylor’s Version)” entered the world exactly nine years after the release of what many regard as the 12-time Grammy winner ’s best album.

In addition to re-recordings of 2014 hits like “Blank Space” and “Style,” the revised album — like each “Taylor’s Version” drop thus far — also features five “vault” tracks — previously unreleased songs written in consideration for the original release on her old label, Big Machine Records.

Eight hours later, Swift dropped a bonus surprise: a “Taylor’s Version” of her “Bad Blood” remix featuring Kendrick Lamar, who re-recorded his contributions for the album’s deluxe edition.

Swift rings in release day with a message to fans:

Also at midnight, the “Out of the Woods” singer shared a carousel of photos on her Instagram that ends with a hand-written message to fans:

I was born in 1989, reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was reclaimed in 2023 with the re-release of this album I love so dearly. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the magic you would sprinkle on my life for so long.

This moment is a reflection of the woods we’ve wandered through and all this love between us still glowing in the darkest dark.

I present to you, with gratitude and wild wonder, my version of 1989.

It’s been waiting for you.

—Taylor

An early-morning surprise — Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version) featuring Kendrick Lamar

When Swift announced the tracks for her version of “1989,” many fans were disappointed to see this beloved version of the song was not included. The track serves as the soundtrack for the explosive music video , and Swifties chant Lamar’s line “You forgive, you forget, but you never let it go” every time Swift performs “Bad Blood” live. To our collective relief, the singer dropped her version of the remix Friday morning around 8 a.m. E.T. and announced it was part of the deluxe edition of the release.

From the Vault

In late September, the “Welcome to New York” songstress revealed the names of the previously unreleased tracks that would finally be getting their due — all of which are capped off with “(Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault).”

Those songs, in order of track listing, are “‘Slut!’” as well as “Say Don’t Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends” and “Is It Over Now?”

Amid announcing “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” the month prior, Swift admitted the album was her “most FAVORITE re-record” because this handful of songs was “so insane.”

“I can’t believe they were ever left behind,” she admitted. “But not for long!”

“Say Don’t Go” introduces a new composer to the mix with Diane Warren. And with lyrics like, “I said, ‘I love you,’ you say nothing back,” fans are already speculating about the object of this unrequited love.

But far more theories are sure to spin out of “Now That We Don’t Talk.” Who compelled Swift to pretend she liked acid rock and being “on a mega-yacht with important men who think important thoughts” until they stopped talking? Harry, is that you?

Fan reactions — and theories

Any Swiftie knows the “Clean” singer has a penchant for dropping hints to her dedicated fan base , about future work as well as a look back on the context or inspiration for a given track.

The lead-up to “1989 (TV)” is no different, with fans scouring the rare Instagram Stories she posted this week, all of which appear to be the hand-written lyrics to some of the “From The Vault” tracks — before signing off with a link to the album and a countdown for its release.

On Tuesday, she shared one that read, in black ink: “Let’s fast forward to / 300 takeout coffees later / I see your profile and your smile on / unsuspecting waiters.” This turned out to be part of “Is It Over Now,” a track fans will undoubtedly see as a sequel to “Out of the Woods.”

Wednesday, she offered up in alternating teal and black lines: “Aquamarine / Moonlit swimming pool / What if / All I need is you.” Those lyrics are within “Slut!” — a dreamy love ballad about not caring if people call her a slut if she can be with the object of the song.

Thursday, she shared, once again in black ink: “I broke my own heart / Cause you were too polite to do it.” You’ll find those lyrics in “Suburban Legends.”

Because Swift said last year that the songs she writes in fountain pen are more personal, and those written with a glitter gel pen are more fun, dance tracks, one X user, @Like_AFolkSong suggested the posts hint at her self-assigned genre — which also includes a “Quill Pen” category.

Another fan, @Aubriedl, took to TikTok to theorize that the handwriting in each post differs because it belongs to “the person that’s featured on the song.”

MAGA Is Straight Up Freaking Out After Trump’s New Taylor Swift Post

Donald Trump’s angry post attacking Taylor Swift is drawing backlash from his own supporters.

On Sunday, in an all-caps post, Trump posted on Truth Social “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” And the convicted felon’s MAGA faithful were immediately concerned.

Even on Truth Social, a platform almost exclusively made up of Trump fans, the comments were negative, with supporters posting “why are you doing this” and “this one isn’t going to help much.” Some of them speculated that his account was hacked, and others advised him not to take on the pop star’s numerous and vocal fanbase.

Only three months ago, Trump made some creepy comments praising Swift, saying , “I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually— unusually beautiful.”

Last week, he had a somewhat more muted, although weird, response after the pop star endorsed Harris after Tuesday’s presidential debate, telling Fox News the next morning that he preferred Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, alluding to Swift’s partner Travis Kelce. (Brittany Mahomes has been perceived to be pro-Trump, while her husband has said he wasn’t endorsing any presidential candidates).

“She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it at the, uh, in the marketplace,” Trump said of Swift at the time. Does Trump think his post Sunday will hurt her, and maybe even draw away her Republican fans? If so, he’d be deluded, and it might even backfire on him. The A.I. images his fans made to make him friendly to Swift fans didn’t work, with Trump even seeing a need to distance himself from them.

Swift’s popularity has driven the right wing mad , with many of them unable to comprehend her popularity. Trump’s post isn’t likely to help him or his campaign, and Swift will let the haters hate, hate, hate and shake it off.

Twitter screenshot Sahil Kapur @sahilkapur: Donald Trump is getting ratio’d on his own social media platform for his “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” post — including by his own supporters, who are baffled; they say it’s “disturbing” and “isn’t going to help” him win the election and are pleading with him to “stop the dumb shit.” (screenshots of 4 posts on Truth Social)

Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris after presidential debate

Pop superstar Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential candidacy on Tuesday night after the high-stakes debate with former President Donald Trump, calling the Democratic nominee a "steady-handed, gifted leader."

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," Swift said in a post on Instagram to her more than 283 million followers. "I’m voting for @kamalaharris  because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos."

Swift went on to say that she was "heartened and impressed" by Harris' selection of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, praising him as a champion of "LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and a woman's right to own her body for decades."

"I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice," the Grammy-winning artist added. "Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story."

Swift, 34, signed her post "Childless Cat Lady" — a reference to language used by Trump's running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, to describe women who do not have kids. Swift included a photo of herself holding her cat, Benjamin Button , who has graced the cover of Time magazine with the singer.

Swift's endorsement came as a surprise to the Harris campaign, two campaign officials told NBC News. The campaign views the singer's backing as part of a "decisive victory" for the vice president on the debate stage and speaks to her ability to attract support, one of the officials said.

Walz appeared to learn about the endorsement during a live post-debate interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. Walz patted his chest and smiled as Maddow read Swift's endorsement message.

"That was eloquent and it was clear," Walz said, "and that's the kind of courage we need in America to stand up."

The endorsement had been widely anticipated. Swift, who has an enormous worldwide fan base, threw her support behind President Joe Biden and Harris during the 2020 presidential election. Swift allowed the Biden-Harris campaign to use her song “Only the Young” in an advertisement during the 2020 cycle.

Swift once shied away from weighing in on American politics. But with the release of her documentary "Miss Americana" in 2020, she became more vocal. The movie chronicled her behind-the-scenes fight to publicly denounce Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., then a member of the House. She endorsed Blackburn's Senate opponent, Phil Bredesen.

Blackburn ultimately won the race, but Swift's post on Instagram encouraging her followers to register to vote activated waves of young people,  Vote.org said at the time .

In November, a national NBC News poll found 40% of registered voters had positive views of Swift, while 16% had negative views. A majority of Democrats (53%) viewed her positively, while 28% of Republicans said the same.

In the Instagram post, Swift also criticized social media users who have circulated images generated by artificial intelligence falsely stating that she had endorsed the Trump-Vance ticket. Trump shared a series of those images on his Truth Social platform.

"Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation," she said. "It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth."

Swifties for Kamala, a group of fans who have no official affiliation with either woman, said they were "thrilled."

"We’ve had no doubt that Taylor would endorse at the right time and are excited about the momentum she will bring to this campaign," Irene Kim, the group's co-founder, said in a statement.

In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday morning, Trump said he was not a fan of Swift. "She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace," he said.
