Boot Düsseldorf 2024: 12 of the most exciting new boats to track down

  • Top stories

Boot Düsseldorf returns next week with an array of new boat launches. Here’s our pick of the best models to track down at Europe’s biggest boat show…

If you genuinely want to compare a lot of boats back-to-back then no other show makes it more convenient than Boot Düsseldorf. It’s one of the biggest indoor boat shows in the world (if not  the  biggest) and it has everything from kayaks to superyachts.

The nine-day exhibition is expected to be busier than ever this year, with almost 4,000 exhibitors already confirmed to show their wares at the Messe Düsseldorf showground.

There is far too much to see in one day, we’d recommend spending at least two days there (with a mandatory night out in between to enjoy the delights of the altstadt).

So without further ado, here are our top motorboat picks from the Boot Düsseldorf 2024 line-up:

Brig Navigator 24

Launched at the  2023 Southampton Boat Show , the Brig Navigator 24 is part of a wider overhaul of the brand’s Navigator range, and as such it will be joined by an all-new Brig Navigator 22 at the  Dusseldorf show .

These are the first new models to emerge from Brig’s Kharkiv facility since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in February 2022.

As the name suggests, the Brig Navigator 24 is 24ft long and features a  centre console  layout powered by either single or twin  outboard engines  up to a maximum of 250hp.

Replacing the outgoing Navigator 730, this versatile RIB is equally comfortable performing fishing,  watersports  or family cruising duties, with all the features and storage options you’d expect for each.

Dromeas 33 suv.

Since Olympic sailor, Efe Kuyumcu, founded Dromeas Yachts in 2017, his mission has been to build the toughest and most versatile high-performance offshore leisure boats in the world – and the new 33 SUV represents the next step in that campaign.

Built using vacuum-infusion, epoxy resins and carbon fibre reinforcements, this larger of the two wheelhouse models takes the same twin-stepped deep vee Adam Younger hull as the Walkaround variant but adds an enclosed pilothouse with twin side doors for year-round practicality.

Available with inboards or outboards, this 50-knot offshore platform also uses aggressive spray rails, thickset rubbing strakes and elevated forward gunwales for a safe, dry ride.

Given Dromeas’s model protocol, it’s reasonable to expect an SUV variant of the flagship 38 CC to land at some point in the future but for now, this easily customised and inherently flexible four-season platform looks like the standout boat in the fleet.

Fairline Targa 40

Fairline’s Targa 40 is a much more substantial boat than the previous best-selling Targa 38 – not just 3ft 6in longer but also 20% more voluminous, thanks to taller topsides and a wider beam that extends further towards an upright bow.

It looks like the extra space has been put to good use too. Fairline’s lead designer, Christian Gott, who will be in attendance on the Düsseldorf show stand, has created a versatile new cockpit layout and a lower deck with 6ft 6in of headroom, while maintaining (and arguably even upgrading) the sporty looks that were such a major part of the T38’s appeal.

While this sleek hardtop sportscruiser shares several features with the smaller F//Line 33 and the new Fairline Phantom 65, it also delivers a fair few tricks of its own.

Nerea NY24 Limo

Launched in Genoa and making its second public appearance in Düsseldorf, the new NY24 Limo from Italian yard, Nerea, takes the underpinnings of the NY24 Deluxe and GT models and strips away the covered foredeck to ramp up the open-air seating.

What you get in here is a big wraparound cockpit with easy three-tier boarding points at the transom and on both sides, as well as a bow dinette that can be converted into a sunbed to supplement the lounge seats aft.

It’s not as versatile as the weekender-style models but if you need a compact and manageable tender that looks a million dollars, make sure you check it out.

german yacht show

Omikron OT60

Omikron’s debut production model is apparently built for Mediterranean island hopping at “a peaceful pace with abundant space”. To that end, it uses an Eco-Cruise hull by Juan Kouyoumdjian, alongside carbon fibre in the construction of the superstructure for uprated stability at sea.

Equipped with a pair of Yanmar 4LV diesels, Omikron is quoting a fuel flow of just 1.25 litres per nautical mile for a very useful cruising range in the region of 750 miles, and there’s plenty of space on offer here too.

The internal saloon opens out into the cockpit, thanks to an array of doors and windows that virtually eradicates the aft bulkhead, and the cockpit features a pair of symmetrical L-shaped sofas with big views across an open transom.

german yacht show

Quarken 35 Cabin

Finnish yard, Quarken, is gearing up to launch its largest model yet. Known as the Quarken 35 Cabin, this Category B model looks likely to pick up where the Quarken 27 Cabin left off.

Like its smaller sibling, it features a near-plumb bow and an asymmetric wheelhouse to maximise internal space, while still leaving room for a deeper, wider side deck to starboard.

A forward-raked windscreen with slender mullions and plunging windows all-round should deliver good visibility from the helm, as well as plenty of natural light. A large overhead sunroof should help open things up even further and the provision of both an aft door and a sliding skipper’s door should make movement pretty easy too.

Equipped to carry ten people and sleep three, the established Quarken formula suggests that the new 35 Cabin will be joined by Open and T-top versions in the near future. But even as a standalone boat, it’s clear that this high-value weekender is going to be a strong contender.

german yacht show

Saxdor 400 GTC

Saxdor’s new 400 GTC is ostensibly a Saxador 400 GTO with less in the way of openness and more in the way of pilothouse protection.

Like the GTO variant, the wheelhouse encompasses the full-beam of the boat, maximising internal living space while providing easy movement fore and aft via a generous offset door in the windscreen. But unlike that boat, the GTC model replaces open space and canvas curtains with permanent glazing on both sides.

Direct access to the long fold-down side terraces is still perfectly achievable though, thanks to big sliding side doors, and the configurable aft deck can also join the party courtesy of the same aft door and hinged window as the GTO variant.

You get the luxury of an offset forward cabin and a separate bathroom, each with standing headroom of more than 6ft, plus the option of an additional double cabin beneath the cockpit further aft.

SAY Carbon 52

Performance brand SAY Carbon Yachts is launching its largest boat yet – a 52ft stunner with the performance to match its high-tech looks…

Weighing in at just 7.5 tonnes, thanks to an all-carbon-fibre hull and deck (around half the weight of a typical 50ft GRP craft), the SAY Carbon 52 will be powered by a relatively modest pair of petrol or diesel engines for a top speed of around 45 knots.

A hybrid electric waterjet drive is also an option, giving near silent displacement cruising at speeds of up to 8 knots. As well as its lightweight construction, the SAY Carbon 52 features a Petestep hull, which impressed us so much during our recent test drive of the X-Power 33.

This patented design uses specially shaped spray rails that fan out from the centreline, deflecting spray back under the hull and creating a high-pressure zone at the stern that is said to deliver a faster, smoother ride as well as increased fuel efficiency.

It will be powered by a pair of 430hp Volvo V8 petrol engines on sterndrives as standard, but 440hp D6 diesels are also on offer.

Sunseeker Ocean 182

This is the first chance for European showgoers to see the new tri-deck version of the original Ocean 90.

It’s called the 182 to reflect its gross tonnage rather than its length and foreground the fact that the wide-beam design and newly enclosed top deck deliver more than 2,000ft2 of interior space.

The standard arrangement is equally interesting. A stylish internal staircase leads to an upper deck, where a fully-covered forward area enables the helm to move upstairs, freeing up space on the main deck.

The upper deck’s central zone can be left open or specced as an enclosed sky lounge but in all cases, the lower helm’s absence creates room on the main deck for a bright dining area and galley forward, which in turn frees up the space further aft for a larger saloon.

The upper structure does reduce outdoor space, of course, but with a vast 24m2 split-level beach club, alongside four big cabins, 27-knot performance and a cruising range of 1,100 miles, it’s a tempting package.

sunseeker-predator-75-yacht-tour-video

Sunseeker Predator 75

This largest of Sunseeker’s “next generation” Predators looks superb, thanks to a Midnight Grey hull with jet-black detailing and a potent coupé-style silhouette. However, this boat is designed as much for parties as for performance and the deck layouts reflect that.

The cockpit provides a carbon- fibre table for up to six people, within easy reach of an electric barbecue, 80-litre fridge and icemaker.

There’s also an electric canopy back here, as well as dimmable lighting – and the foredeck also provides seating and a sunpad, plus zoned Sonos music and a pair of large drawer fridges.

In the standard layout, the lower deck features a forward VIP, a starboard double and a full-beam owner’s mid-cabin, plus a port galley with integrated Miele appliances, a wine cooler and a Quooker tap.

There’s also a neat breakfast bar and seating area in here – and at the aft end, there’s room for a two-berth crew cabin to port and a tender garage to starboard.

german yacht show

WallyPower 50

If you’re torn between the open-style thrills of the WallyTender line and the luxury of the WallyPower line, the WallyPower50 might be the most attractive model yet.

It certainly possesses the angular lines, fine stem and aggressive double-chine profile you would expect of a classic WallyPower model but you can also spec it with the same workmanlike wraparound fender as a WallyTender.

Like the  WallyTender 48  and the  WallyPower 58 , the new WallyPower 50 is available with either inboard or  outboard  propulsion. The standard model is fitted with twin Volvo Penta IPS-650 pod drives and user-friendly joystick control for berthing manoeuvres.

german yacht show

Windy 29 Huracán

Slotting neatly between the Windy 27 Solano and the Windy 32 Grand Zonda, the new Windy Huracán 29 is likely to be a major Düsseldorf attraction.

Designed by Espen Øino, with interiors in collaboration with Fareham-based Design Unlimited, it ticks all the classical Windy boxes with a step-free deep-vee hull, a choice of petrol or diesel inboard engines, a deep, wide cockpit and an aggressively raked foredeck.

The deck layout is also classical Windy. Encompassing the full beam, thanks to a step-through screen, the cockpit adopts an asymmetrical arrangement with a pair of helm seats backing onto a starboard dinette with a facing corner seat to port. Behind that, a sunpad adjoins the aft end of the dinette, with a sliding backrest for extra flexibility.

It’s a fine looking boat too, and production has reportedly already been pre-sold up to 2025.

Keep checking back with mby.com during the Boot Düsseldorf show as we will be sharing yacht tour videos of as many of the above debuts as possible.

boot Düsseldorf 2024 latest: show kicks off with 55,000 visitors over the weekend

Monday, January 22nd, 2024

Written by: Marine Industry News

Boot Dusseldorf 2024

Almost 55,000 visitors visited boot Düsseldorf 2024 on Saturday and Sunday to find out about the innovations and new products in the yachting and water sports industry, say organisers.

The event runs 20 – 28 January 2024 and has already seen world debuts and new partnerships launch.

“The atmosphere in the 16 exhibition halls is excellent,” says boot director Petros Michelidakis . “Despite the challenging economic conditions, the majority of exhibiting companies have given us very positive feedback and reported high quality discussions and a keen buying public. I am particularly pleased with the high level of satisfaction among the companies that are returning after a break in 2023. The hands-on activities and exciting stage programs are also real crowd pullers.”

The latest roundup of boot Düsseldorf 2024 news includes: BlueNav showcases bumpy blades, ePropulsion unveils its smallest outboard, world debut of Fairline ‘s Targa 40, iAQUA premieres its extreme electric surfboard, Nautor Swan speaks of successes, Searider talks motorbikes of the sea, Sunseeker uses YouTuber to intro Ocean 182 (3-deck behemoth), Nimbus Group showcases the Alukin Ocean Air 8, world debut of Brabus Shadow 1200 XC Cross-Cabin Black Ops Signature Edition, Riva ‘s first electric model, and Wally introduces wallypower50 (tender).

The Axopar 29 range launch marks a ‘new era in innovation’ for the brand and also kicks off Axopar’s 10th anniversary celebrations at the show.

The 29 is replacement for the hugely popular Axopar 28, which, when launched in 2014, was the first Nordic walkaround outboard-powered 28-foot boat range, laying the foundation for Axopar’s future.

The brand says the Axopar 29 range is even more multifunctional, maintaining exceptional value for money and is made to push and redefine the adventure boat genre, even when the sub-30-foot category itself has developed enormously with new brands entering the market in the last years.

BlueNav showcases whale design blades

BlueNav, heavily invested in creating solutions to convert medium-sized boats (8 to 15 metres) from combustion engines into hybrid electric boats, has presented a new design for its BlueSpin electric motor’s blades at boot Düsseldorf 2024.

The company says the engineering office spent a year on research and technical studies, to craft blades in the shape of a whale’s fin. BlueNav ’s engineers demonstrated with computational fluid dynamics that the bumps on the flippers of cetaceans and the striations on their belly have a result: they reduce drag, and increase fluid flow efficiency.

While nature follows an incremental and random bias for its evolution, humans can mimic designs that have been shown to be more efficient and quieter, even if, sometimes, they defy traditional engineering theories, says the company.

“We are proud to introduce the Whale Design, a testament to our dedication to progress and sustainable engineering. Our mission has always been to push the boundaries of what is possible, and with this innovative design, we are one step closer to achieving that goal,” says Hervé Frouin, co-founder and CTO.

Brabus premieres Shadow 1200 Black Ops Signature Edition

BRABUS-Shadow-1200-aft-cabin-1

At 45 feet, the all-new Brabus Shadow 1200 XC Cross-Cabin Black Ops Signature Edition is the biggest Brabus Shadow ever built. The combined power of triple 400 HP Mercury Racing 5.7l V10 engines gives a claimed top speed of up to 55 knots.

The new Brabus Shadow 1200 XC Cross-Cabin model enters the market with the bold and renowned ‘Black Ops Signature Edition’ look, boasting graphite black paint job, with matching upholstery colours and sleek hull badges in black chrome.

Brabus Marine is an alliance of Finnish boat builder Axopar Boats and Brabus, a luxury mobility brand out of Germany’s Ruhr-Region.

ePropulsion unveils eLite electric outboard motor

This is the smallest offering so far in ePropulsion ’s extensive electric outboard portfolio, benefiting the tender and smaller boating market

The eLite benefits from nominal power of 500W and a maximum power in boost mode of 750W. It has been created for the tender and smaller boating market.

The direct-drive motor and advanced design propeller are said to deliver high efficiency with near-silent operation. With a focus on minimal maintenance and cutting-edge technology, this addition to the range raises the bar in electric boating standards.

Boasting a compact and lightweight design, weighing just 6.7kg (excluding bracket) and measuring a mere 297 x 75 x 890mm, the eLite is transportable. It features easy removal and installation facilitated by a one-click quick release system.

Designed for adaptability, the eLite features an easy-grip twist grab handle which is extendable, foldable and the angle is adjustable for a personalised boating experience.

The eLite also includes an adjustable shaft length to accommodate numerous boat sizes and types. Additionally, it offers multiple angles for trim and tilt.

Fairline Targa 40

Fairline has unveiled its highly anticipated all-new Targa 40 in a world debut at this year’s Boot Düsseldorf, supported by the European debut of the all-new Squadron 58.

german yacht show

According to the UK boatbuilder, the Targa 40 brings the ‘wow’ factor to Fairline’s line-up, taking the popularity of the Targa 38 and elevating it for the 21st century with a landmark power-down beach club balcony to starboard.  Its open cockpit offers a hardtop and electric canvas sunroof, opening the whole main deck.

iAQUA premieres its extreme e-surfboard

iAQUA says its X-Jet Extreme, revealed during boot Düsseldorf 2024, is the world’s fastest, most powerful, and most versatile electric surfboard. It has a 20kW jet drive and has previously reached 68kph.

“The power and endurance of the X-Jet Extreme is truly game-changing. I am completely hooked,” says Annissa Flynn, three times World Flow-Board Champion, and 19 times (and current) Thailand National Surfing Champion.

german yacht show

At just 23kg, the 100 per cent carbon fibre X-Jet Extreme is one of the lightest e-surfboards in its category and offers a 160kg weight capacity for two surfers. It can, seemingly, cover a distance of more than 30 kilometres on a single charge.

Nautor Swan promises a vibrant 2024

Nautor Swan says it’s looking forward to a ‘sparkling 2024’ for the group. At a press briefing during boot Düsseldorf the firm said that, thanks to its new product strategy, the turnover growth over the past year is +16 per cent. It’s currently sitting with an active order portfolio over €150 million; five new models under construction across sail and motor; and it’s investing in new models.

“We are thrilled to start the new year with so many updates to share with our passionate followers. We are working on more, but we want to tickle your curiosity,” says Giovanni Pomati, Nautor Group CEO. “We are going through a very positive, but still challenging period and we are striving to do our best to deliver our beautiful yachts, both in the sailing and power segments.”

german yacht show

Nautor ’s strategy to broaden its motor yacht range is taking shape with the Swan Arrow 75 footer, designed by Jarkko Jamsén, the motor yacht division resident designer. Swan Arrow aims to be an ‘open’ yacht suited to extended cruising.

Nimbus Group exhibits Alukin Ocean Air 8

Nimbus Group is showcasing a new energy-efficient concept boat, Alukin Ocean Air 8 , at the international trade fair.

Nimbus Group is also displaying a new RIB (rigid inflatable boat) boat with an electric engine from Stream, another of the group’s brands.

“Sustainability is increasingly important within the boating industry, and Alukin Ocean Air 8 is based on a new and very interesting hull technology with great energy-saving potential,” says Michael Bohm, CMO at Nimbus Group. “But the RIB technology is also of great interest from a sustainability perspective as these types of boats do not require as much power and thus are easy to electrify.”

OceanAir8

Alukin Ocean Air 8 is a concept boat that has been developed in collaboration between Nimbus Group’s brand Alukin and the two Norwegian companies Pascal Technologies and Evoy. The hull is based on Pascal Technologies’ energy efficient AirHull technology which requires up to 50 percent less energy for propulsion which increases the boat’s range by 50-100 percent compared to using a traditional hull.

By using aluminum for Ocean Air 8’s hull and superstructure the boat is 100 percent recyclable, which further reduces the boat’s environmental impact. It is the first time that Alukin-branded boats have gone on display at boot Düsseldorf.

Riva debuts first electric model

Ferretti Group is taking a fleet of six boats to the German boat show, including the world premiere of the Riva El-Iseo, which was presented in prototype form last September at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Riva El-Iseo

A runabout almost 9 metres in length, Riva El-Iseo uses a fully electric motor and high-density lithium battery pack with a capacity of 150 kWh split into two independent blocks. The Italian boatbuilder says it delivers unprecedented performance in terms of speed, acceleration and navigation.

After successfully completing the final test cycle, Ferretti Group says the official version of El-Iseo — the first Riva model created for the e-luxury segment — is ready for sale.

Searider brings its water motorbikes

Searider has ‘officially’ launched at the show. The company describes itself as blending the essence of motorcycling with the spirit of water sports. Thus, it has created three models of watercraft to suit varying abilities (beginners, experienced riders, or thrill-seekers).

The watercraft are fully electric, equipped with removable batteries for maximum autonomy, and weigh less than 70kg, This means, says the company , that they offer a fun and sustainable boating experience.

german yacht show

‘It’s not just a new way to move on water; it’s a revolution redefining the future of navigation, where innovation and ecology meet’ apparently.

Sunseeker celebrates its Ocean 182

Sunseeker has debuted its Ocean 182 to the European market. The company says the Ocean 182 has already had a phenomenal twelve months with several debuts in the United States. It’s got over 2,000 square feet of interior space spanning three decks.

The boot Düsseldorf 2024 event welcomed supercar expert and international YouTube star, Tim Burton (pictured centre) better known as Shmee150 (between Andrea Frabetti and Christopher Head).

german yacht show

“The Ocean 182 European debut was a fantastic experience that I was thrilled to be a part of,” says Burton. “It is an impressive machine with 4,000 horsepower and an incredible amount of space. It’s a floating penthouse with supercar engines. I’m tempted to switch gears and try my hand at driving a Sunseeker on the water.”

Wally launches wallypower50

Wally and Ferretti Group teams believe they’ve built a bridge between their two ranges with all-new wallypower50. This can seemingly serve as anything from chaseboat to tender to day-cruiser to luxury weekender to high-octane thrill-ride.

It’s not just about grunt, of course, says the company (the standard model offers propulsion via twin Volvo Penta IPS650s that offer a 30-knot cruise and a top speed of 36 knots). The wallypower50 and wallypower50X draw on a deep-V hull to offer stability at speed and the ability to cruise faster even in bigger seas, meaning more scope to enjoy everything the wallypower50 offers in more conditions.

“It’s no accident the original wallypower118 has become so iconic, thanks to her revolutionary looks and revelatory performance,” says Luca Bassani, founder and chief designer of Wally . “And it’s no accident that the new wallypower50 shares that groundbreaking spirit and performance DNA, showing how we are able to capture the essence of that original model and distil it into a new milestone model for the modern boater.

wallypower50

“At Wally , design has always been at the forefront of what we do, and what we do has always been at the forefront of the yachting industry. The wallypower50 is another perfect example of form and function coming together, where stylish lines do not come at the expense of dynamic performance but complement it. And the further you drill down into the details, the more of Wally you find, from our distinctive angular windshield design up top to the option of our Magic Portholes below.”

Magellano 60 sunset view

Azimut is preparing to attend Boot Düsseldorf, held from the 20 th  to the 28 th  of January 2024.  The stand will feature the Magellano 60, presented as a world premiere at Cannes 2023, and the S7. The Fly Series is also well represented with three models on display: the Fly 53, Fly 68 and Fly 78.

The 2024 edition of Boot Düsseldorf, the largest indoor boat show that will be held from 20 th  to 28 th  of January, anticipates Azimut among its protagonists. The Avigliana Shipyard will participate in the German boat show, one of the industry’s main fairs with more than 1,500 exhibitors and almost 237,000 visitors from all over the world, to welcome customers with some of its most internationally beloved models.

The  Magellano 60 , Azimut’s most recent launch, is a crossover characterized by timeless design and elegant lines, conceived for owners who love long cruises and who wish to spend extended periods of time on board. For this new model, the Shipyard has integrated the latest innovations from the Azimut|Benetti Group R&D department to reduce emissions and generally improve life on board.  Additionally, the Magellano 60 was selected as the vessel for the first voyages powered by  HVOlution, the biofuel produced by Eni Live (Eni Sustainable Mobility)  with 100% renewable raw materials* which, combined with the high-efficiency, semi-planing Dual Mode hull, reduces well-to-wake CO2 emissions by more than 80% compared to a yacht of comparable size powered by fossil fuels.  In addition, on the  Magellano  60 Azimut has introduced a new smart boat automation system which brings  artificial intelligence on board, developed by the Shipyard in partnership with  Google Cloud  and  Reply : through a proprietary app it is possible to interact with the yacht via commands that allow you to control, even remotely, various functions on board.

The S7 , the returning protagonist of Boot 2023, will also be among the models on display in Düsseldorf at the next edition of the boat show. Born from a collaboration with Alberto Mancini for the exteriors, this 22-meter cruiser is characterized by the chic, residentially styled interiors of creative boutique Yachtique. The S7 is a super-light and technologically advanced sport yacht, designed for the most sporty and dynamic owners, which fits into the family of  Azimut’s Low Emission Yachts . Thanks to the combination of a triple Volvo IPS propulsion configuration with the most advanced naval architecture in the category, this model offers optimized performance, achieving a reduction in consumption and CO2 emissions of up to 30% compared to shaft line yachts of the same weight and size with a traditional hard-chine hull.

Azimut S7_running

Alongside these two yachts,  three models from Azimut’s iconic, best-selling Fly Series  will also be present, showcasing more of the Shipyard’s design collaborations with Alberto Mancini. The  Fly 53  is a streamlined vessel, which hides surprisingly large spaces for the 50-foot segment and is perfect for those who want to enjoy longer cruises in absolute comfort. The  Fly 68 , meanwhile, is a cosmopolitan yacht, built around the owner with a selection of three interior layouts, each adapted to a different lifestyle at sea.  Finally, the  Fly 78  features a layout that maximizes comfort and privacy with a clear separation between crew and guest footpaths, as well as a highly versatile living area, which satisfies the taste of the contemporary owner.

Olympus: Angebot in Monaco

Olympus : Angebot in Monaco

Bold: Weit gereist in diesem Jahr

Bold : Weit gereist in diesem Jahr

Salone Nautico typically forecasts if the sector's heading into a slump. This year, with 30 yacht launches, perfect weather, and big, enthusiastic crowds, the show seemed to signal that boating is doing just fine.

“The numbers suggest that the newcomers who came during Covid, who are trending younger, are not transient,” Andrea Razeto, president of I Saloni Nautici, the event organizer, told Robb Report.

german yacht show

But the real importance of Genoa, at least to most showgoers, were the 30 new Italian premieres, ranging from rigid-hulled inflatables to superyachts. Some were brand flagships, others new models in existing families, and even more showed innovative designs that are new to yachting.

Apreamare’s 88 Maestro flagship made its global debut, a change in direction for a shipyard known for its rounded-stern “gozzo” yachts from 35 to 48 feet, based on a traditional Italian fishing vessel.

“This navetta style was custom made for an owner of one of our smaller boats,” Apreamare’s marketing manager, Corrado Del Fonti, told Robb Report during a tour. “The owners are a couple with no children, so they designed it for themselves so they could live aboard for months.”

Apreamare 88

The sense of open space also defined the rest of the yacht, from the upper flybridge with its outdoor kitchen, dining table, and rear seating to the lower foredeck, also with seating and a table. Fit and finish across the 88-footer was excellent, showing that Apreamare’s boatbuilding abilities with smaller vessels could transfer to a larger yacht.

Perhaps the most impressive feature was the one most boaters never see—the engine room, which measures 430 square feet and holds twin 2000 MAN diesels. The space looked massive compared to most engine rooms in this size range. “Again, the owners wanted space that will allow the engine to be easily repaired when something inevitably breaks,” said Del Fonti. “They are being very practical about it.” The price for the vessel is about $9.1 million.

Apreamare 88 Maestro Motoryacht

Another innovative design making its Italian premiere was Azimut ’s new Seadeck 7 , with the world’s first Volvo-Penta hybrid electric-diesel propulsion. The 71-footer was designed to be a truly sustainable boat—without greenwashing—with a hull, superstructure, and engine that combines to produce 40 percent fewer emissions than another boat its size.

“It was also born to have a different style of livability on board,” says Edoardo Giudice, from Azimut’s Product Intelligence department. His team has been working on the Seadeck 7 concept for several years. “We wanted it to be gentle on the sea, with an area we call the ‘Fun Island’ that is an open, split-level design that goes down to the water.” The space includes a barbecue near the water, a custom-designed hammock that hangs over a side panel when it’s folded down, and a “transformer” step at the rear that drops into the water for easy access.

Azimut Seadeck 7 Hybrid Yacht

But the real eco-differentiator on this boat is the hybrid propulsion. Marine engine maker Volvo Penta has been working on a hybrid diesel-electric version for its IPS system for four years, and it began planning the Seadeck 7 concept with Azimut two years ago. “In full electric, you can get 11 knots of speed for 11 miles, and if you go down to 7 knots, the range goes to 32 nautical miles,” says Giudice. “The boat can also stay in hotel mode for up to eight hours overnight.”

Sanlorenzo ’s new SP92 is also a new style of cruiser, the smaller sistership to the SP110 , which was launched two years ago to great acclaim.

“You can see the family DNA in the exterior,” says Sanlorenzo’s Tilli Antonelli, who spearheaded both SP yachts with Zuccon International and interior designer Piero Lissoni. “But the interior is different. We created an open space to have multiple possible layouts.”

Azimut Seadeck 7 Hybrid Yacht

The interior, like the SP110, is a paradigm shift for yachting, with a four-level design that include the large open salon on the main deck, a forward area on the deck below with three staterooms, a rear area on another lower deck that can serve as a salon or extra bedroom, and the invisible flybridge—which has been designed to look seamless with the rest of the hull.

Sanlorenzo SP92 Superyacht

Ferretti Yachts also launched the Infynito 80. Like its larger sistership, the Infynito 90 , which premiered a year ago, the new 80 is about simple design and open space, putting a premium on the outdoors. The four-stateroom, 80-footer has a large open salon, cockpit, and flybridge.

But the true innovation here is the foredeck . It’s open to the wind but has a slatted frame above it for both sun protection and protection at the bow. This clever design also won a Robb Report Best of the Best Award earlier this year, with editors praising the protection it provides without being fully enclosed.

Genoa International Boat Show

Genoa also tends to be the Italian show where ideas are discussed and politicians meet industry leaders to discuss common goals. This year’s event was no different, with panels doing deep dives into sustainability across the yachting sector and looking at how marine tourism can be a driving force for cleaning up the ocean.

The show’s infrastructure also continues to grow and modernize each year, with the completion of the new Palasport stadium, waterfront condos, and docks. The refresh of what was a dowdy waterfront area into a high-cost residential section is called the Waterfront di Levante project. It has been a boon for the show: Total space for this year’s event grew to nearly 237,000 square feet between the dock and exhibit halls, up 54,000 from 2023. “This show has always been the way we got our ‘Made in Italy’ yacht brands out into the world,” says Razeto, adding that it will continue to grow next year.

Heesen reveals ambitious new 62-metre superyacht project at Monaco Yacht Show – Monte-Carlo

german yacht show

World-renowned Dutch superyacht builder Heesen Yachts debuted a daring new Steel FDHF 62-metre superyacht – codenamed Project Monte-Carlo , at their kick-off press conference at the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco.

german yacht show

One of the shipyard’s most ambitious projects to date, the yacht’s design by British studio Harrison Eidsgaard has been tailored to meet the requirements of modern owners who want to spend increased periods of time on board.

The four-deck yacht will be one of the yard’s largest yachts by volume ever built in Oss. Heesen’s CEO , Niels Vaessen, explained that the design is a direct response to trends they are currently seeing in the market. “It is unusual for us to build a four-decker, but we have had a few requests for such a boat from former clients, so it made sense to create one. We are addressing a key market of owners that are looking to maximise space and experience on board to share with family and friends.”

german yacht show

The luxury of privacy Optimising the increased space afforded by the four-deck design, Project Monte-Carlo will have an entire deck dedicated to the owners. Catering to a trend post-pandemic of owners spending periods of time working on board, the area incorporates both a lavish master suite and a spacious office area.

Designer Peder Eidsgaard highlighted that the owner’s deck offers supreme privacy and could be utilised in different ways depending on their reference.

“It is a very open master suite, with the bathtub, shower and office all interconnected,” he said. “The benefit of this arrangement is that an incoming owner can easily toy with the space devoted to each area. The potential is huge; you expand the master suite to include a private foredeck with its own sundeck, jacuzzi and a fold-down balcony to starboard. From his/her office, the owner can walk straight out onto the balcony and take a seat.”

The guest accommodation will be split across the main and lower decks. Eidsgaard’s design proposes a mix of up to five lavish VIP cabins and comfortable doubles.

german yacht show

Connected to the sea Project Monte-Carlo has also been created to allow owners and guests to feel a constant connection to the water. The design includes a large 23-square-metre pool, with glass sides giving the impression that you are swimming in the sea and fold-down wings on the aft deck that allow you to sit right over the water.

Other key spaces include a ‘beach lounge’ on the main deck, where low-slung sofas offer an informal dining area for up to 14 guests, with sliding doors again connecting the yacht to its surroundings. There is also a firepit observation lounge under the mast, an outdoor kitchen, and a semi-open sky lounge seating area, including a hidden pop-up TV for movie nights.

german yacht show

Holistic living Wellness is also of increasing importance to owners, and therefore, the design allows for a dedicated centre on the lower deck.  Provisional designs for this space include a large gym, sauna, hammam and massage or beauty room.

The yacht’s beach club is also ideal for launching water toys, and its impressive storage will ensure that Project Monte-Carlo can be equipped with the latest toys available, including e-foils, wave runners and a diving kit. Additionally, the yacht has storage for two tenders, which are used for easy excursions back to the shore.

Sustainable planning Along with the rest of the superyacht community, Heesen is committed to a more sustainable future. In line with this and Heesen’s BlueNautech strategy , the boat is technically enabled for serial hybrid propulsion, with space for a large battery bank. It also has a methanol-ready tank layout for future conversion to hydrogen combustion or even a fuel cell. The fast displacement hull form is optimised for 12-knot cruising, but the power train can manage up to 16 knots.

“We see that our owners are increasingly interested in minimising their environmental impact,” added Peter Van Der Zanden, Heesen’s General Manager for Design & Development. “By planning the yacht around tried-and-tested green solutions, we are helping them make good decisions that don’t add much time and cost to the build.”
