Cdm shipyard

Cantiere delle Marche lays keel on 45m custom explorer Project T

Italian shipyard Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) has laid the keel on the in-build 45 metre Project T.

The project was commissioned by an experienced owner and the sale of the fully-custom explorer yacht was announced in September 2021.

During a ceremony at the yard's Ancona facility, the owner welded a small steel plate to the keel, which "symbolised the start of the production of his yacht," the yard said. The owner had worked closely with the design team during the design and development stage of the build.

Designed by Giorgio Maria Cassetta , the explorer features sleek, rigorous exterior lines that connect an almost vertical bow to an inviting transom with a generous beach club.

Up to eight guests can be accommodated in four large suites located on the lower deck. The owners will have to themselves the entire forward section of the main deck, which will encompass a full beam apartment complete with his and her bathrooms, a dressing room and an adjoining lounging area for relaxing  in total privacy.

A key focus of the design is a connection with the outdoors. Oversized windows on both the main and upper decks offer a close connection with the exterior environment while ample space has been dedicated to al fresco lounging and dining.

“This project is the outcome of a long and careful refinement work that was carried on, along with the owners, for more than one year and with many productive design iterations,” said Cassetta.

He added: “It is the bold vision of an experienced client made into reality and, in our view, is a statement of essential and pure design, where form and function collaborate closely to offer the best experience to the future lucky users.”

Twin MAN V12-1400 engines will power the explorer yacht to a top speed of 14.5 knots, and an extended cruising range of 4000 nautical miles will ensure that Project T can explore the furthest reaches of the globe with her new owner.

“ It is an exciting feeling to kick off a new project. We are really grateful to the owner and his family for this amazing opportunity, ” said Vasco Buonpensiere, sales and marketing director of CdM. “He knows what he needs, he is an expert of the yachting market and CdM meets his highly demanding requisites as for construction quality and reliability."

Articles First Look: Custom 45m Superyacht MILELE

Delivered in 2023 and making her international debut with Ocean Independence at this year's Monaco Yacht Show, we dive into why MILELE is one of the most exciting yachts attending the show.

Luxury yacht purchase  goes beyond a simple transaction—it’s a bespoke journey curated with precision. At the heart of this experience stands an Owner with a vision and a shipyard able to bring that vision to life. Ocean Independence has recently been instrumental in one such journey, guiding an experienced yacht Owner through the exciting process of commissioning MILELE, an innovative, fully custom, 45m Hakvoort superyacht.

Choosing the right shipyard and management for a new build project is a crucial decision for a buyer, with numerous factors to consider. It goes beyond profile and budget, extending to elements such as expertise, specialisms, cost-effectiveness, preferred style, and delivery times.

In this case, it was the buyer’s specific desire to build a fast and efficient 45m with a sizable range, and crucially, the yacht had to house a personal submarine.

The Client’s pursuit of perfection paired with Ocean Independence’s deep knowledge of  luxury yacht construction  ultimately resulted with the decision to commission the build of MILELE in 2018.

Drawing on decades of experience, and understanding the Owner’s desire to be heavily involved in the design process, Ocean Independence oversaw the creation of this custom project, collaborating with both the shipyard and Owner.

MILELE’S INNOVATIVE DESIGN FEATURES

At the heart of the decision to commission the build of MILELE was the wish for the highest level of quality, innovation, and elegance. With several bespoke and ingenious features MILELE stands as a tour de force of innovation and a masterpiece of modern design.

BLURRING THE LINES

At the forefront of MILELE’s distinctive design is to blur the boundaries between outside and in. The scooped bulwarks paired with custom-designed stainless handrails on each deck, offer unobstructed views from any angle, and pull the beauty of the sea right into the living spaces. Complementing this are the floor-to-ceiling wrap-around windows aft on both decks, flooding the interior with natural light, and forging a true connection between the yacht and its surroundings.

A NOD TO THE FUTURE OF YACHT DESIGN

A pivotal point of MILELE’s innovation lies in her full aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form paired with a Hull Vane®, a patented ‘underwater-spoiler’ strategically placed beneath the stern to provide lift. This combination promises reduced fuel consumption by an impressive 20% to 25%, and enhanced comfort through decreased ship motion.

Laying a firm foundation for green yachting, her hull design pairs with twin MTU engines and two electric booster engines for fast and efficient cruising at speeds up to 25.5 knots, and a maximum range of 3,700 nautical miles. Whilst an electric-only drive mode allows MILELE to glide through protected waters gracefully and without leaving a footprint.

BESPOKE INTERIORS

With tailor-made furniture designed to suit every space, the interiors are a sight to behold. Accommodating ten guests, the three staterooms on the lower deck are a testament to luxury and deliberate design, while the Owner’s suite on the main deck is both a retreat and a home-from-home, coming equipped with a private office.

Attention to detail is manifested in every element, from a fully equipped gym to fine art and a central spiral staircase with intricate curved wood panelling, MILELE’s interiors offer both beauty and functionality to cater to the diverse needs of her guests.

A PERSONAL SUBMERSIBLE

MILELE answers the call of adventure too. Alongside the customary toy box, a two-person submarine stored within the bow offers undiscovered experiences for guests eager to explore the underwater world. It’s an offering that extends the onboard experience beyond the traditional confines of luxury yachting, inviting guests to dive into the ocean’s depths from the comfort of their home at sea.
