Euroyachts are a long established boat sales and service company located in Scotland. We have bases in Largs Yacht Haven and Troon Yacht Haven. At Largs Marina we operate from the largest custom built boat sales Showroom in the UK. Our business was established in 1965 and we have been distributors for Jeanneau sailing and motorboats since 1978.

Ronnie and Angus Scott

Our name, and that of founder Ronnie Scott, has been at the forefront of pleasure craft retailing in the UK since the late sixties.

Ronnie Scott pioneered the use of indoor boat sales premises, part exchange and imported yachts for national distribution as early as 1962, with the still prolific East German Folkboat.

Since 1978 we have enjoyed a unique trading relationship with French builders  Jeanneau , running the national distribution until 1993, and today are responsible for distribution in Scotland. Ronnie Scott’s son Angus worked in the business full time from 1981 until the company was sold to Yachts.co in October 2020. In his time in the business Angus ran the UK and Irish distribution of Jeanneau boats from our Hamble office between 1988 and 1992 and more recently was responsible for the development of our Largs Showroom. Angus Scott ran the business from 1994 to 2020.

In addition to domestic sales we have enjoyed success overseas, exporting regularly to the Far East and Mediterranean markets. We have commissioning bases in the South of France and have seen more than twenty new Jeanneau yachts, most above 40ft, being handed over in a single season

New Ownership at Euroyachts

Following negotiations which started in 2019 on the 22nd of October 2020 for the first time in 55 years Euroyachts ceased to be owned by a member of the Scott family.

Yachts.co, Jeanneau distributors based in Swansea, now own Euroyachts entirely. Everybody involved is delighted with the change which sees all of our team staying with the company with the exception of our bookkeeper and of course Angus who is looking forward to less selling and more sailing having run the company for 26 years.

David Noble who has been with the company since 2001 will take over responsibility for general management and Nic Le Clanche who is a well respected member of the marine trade in Scotland and an accomplished yachtsman will take on responsibility for running our service department and customer satisfaction as well some brokerage.

There are no dramatic operational changes being made however improvements are underway already in terms of IT and digital presence which we anticipate will boost the efficiency of our brokerage activities.

Antoine Chancelier who is Jeanneau’s sales manager for UK and Ireland had this to say of the transaction:

“Jeanneau are delighted that Yachts.co have purchased Euroyachts. Euroyachts are amongst our longest serving, most experienced dealers globally and the influence of Yachts.co will complement the existing strengths at Euroyachts. The deal will also assure continuity of service for our customers which is something we prize very highly.”

With offices at Troon Yacht Haven and Scotland's first purpose-built showroom at Largs Yacht Haven,  Euroyachts are distributers for Sun Odyssey, Sun Fast and Jeanneau Yachts, as well as Prestige, Merry Fisher and the NC range of Jeanneau Powerboats. In addition, Euroyachts are also dealers for BRIG RIBs and Suzuki outboards.

Family-run euroyachts has been acquired by yachts.co.

Euroyachts, the long-established Scottish boat dealer and broker, has been sold to Yachts.co as part of the Swansea-based Jeanneau dealer’s UK expansion plan.

Originally based on the Clyde in Glasgow, Euroyachts was established in 1965 by Ronnie Scott, who pioneered the import of pleasure craft to the UK by introducing the East-German Folkboat, making owning a yacht and sailing more accessible to many, whilst becoming a well-known boat dealer and broker.

The acquisition by Yachts.co, for an undisclosed six figure sum, means that Euroyachts will cease to be owned by a member of the Scott family for the first time in 55 years.

The firm went on to become dealers of many popular brands, but is best known for its 40-year plus relationship with Jeanneau, which makes it one of longest-serving Jeanneau dealers in the world. Euroyachts distributed Jeanneau products on an exclusive basis in the UK from 1978 to 1993. Other business interests include brokerage operations and engineering services.

Since 1994, the firm has been run by Ronnie Scott’s son, Angus, who has worked in the business since 1981. He made the move of the main premises from Glasgow city centre to the first, and still only, custom-built boat showroom of its scale in the UK, at Largs Yacht Haven. The firm also operates from Troon Yacht Haven.

Angus Scott commented:

“The sale of the company to Yachts.co will give us access to fresh thinking and improved digital skills, which will help Euroyachts to maintain and grow its market leading position in Scotland.

“I am delighted that all of the staff, with the exception of myself, are staying onboard and also that a new hiring has been made at Largs.

“Now is the perfect time for me to bow out of the business and concentrate on sailing rather than selling. I would like to thank all of our staff, trading partners and especially our customers for their support over the decades.”

Nic Le Clanche, a well respected member of the marine trade in Scotland and an accomplished yachtsman, will take on responsibility for running the service department, as well as some brokerage.

Used ‘van buyer’s guide – Mobilvetta Euroyacht motorhome

If you’re searching for used motorhomes for sale but you still want some luxury, we think the Mobilvetta Euroyacht A-class motorhomes are worth considering

Luxurious and powerful, the Mobilvetta Euroyacht A-class motorhomes built between 1996 and 2002 should be on your ‘must-see’ list if you’re thinking of buying a deluxe motorhome.

As we do regularly at Practical Motorhome, online and in the magazine , here we are focusing on a great used mainstream motorhome, giving you expert advice so you are able to buy with confidence. We tell you which is the best of the bunch, what to pay and any problems to look out for.

This time, we are looking at the Iveco-based Mobilvetta Euroyacht. If you are looking for the best luxury used motorhomes for sale, make sure you take a look at some pre-owned Euroyachts. 

Mobilvetta Design began making high-end furniture in 1961 – in 1976 it built its first motorhome. Around 20 years later, the company launched the Euroyacht, which – when coupled with the bombproof twin-rear-wheel-drive Iveco chassis-cowl – resulted in one of the best A-class motorhomes ever built. 

These Italian lovelies really were in a class of their own, featuring 
quality cabinetwork with traditional joinery and radius hardwoods. The high standards of equipment levels and practical, new-to-Britain layouts led to them sailing out of the showroom with ease.

The Iveco-based range kicked off with the 6.8m 170 LX and 175 LX models. The 170 has a forward lounge and a midships kitchen ahead of a rear washroom. The 175, meanwhile, has double and single Pullman dinettes and bunk beds – bringing the sleeping-berth count to seven!

Next up was the 7.45m 180 LX, with a similar lounge to the 170. However, the extra length allows a fixed, European-style corner bed ahead of the full-width rear washroom.

The Mobilvetta Design Euroyacht A-class coachbuilt was built in Barberino Val D’Elsa, Tuscany, Italy between 1996 and 2002. The Euroyacht’s overall length is a modest 6.85m to 7.45m (22ft 6in to 24ft 6in).

So, what should you look out for when looking round a used Mobilvetta Euroyacht at a motorhome dealership? Here are Practical Motorhome’s expert tips to help you buy better. Let’s start with the base vehicle. The 2.5- and 2.8-litre mechanical injection TD units are under-stressed and should – given regular maintenance – last 250,000 miles. On early five-speeders, the first gear was so short that many drivers didn’t bother to use it: so do check that it can still be selected easily.

Some back-axle noise is acceptable, but avoid motorhomes with incontinent gearboxes and rear-axles. Almost all examples of the Mobilvetta Euroyacht are left-hand drive vehicles, which might be an advantage if you spend a lot of time on tour abroad in your motorhome. 

The skirts of the Euroyacht can discolour over time, and the gel coat on the moulded GRP front end cap goes flat! Bargain hard if this is the case, but be prepared to put a lot of effort in if you decide that you want to restore it to its former glory.

The foam in the habitation seat squabs was soft even when new, so this is likely to need replacing for maximum seat comfort. 

So, what do we think of these ‘vans? Here are our likes:

• Eye-candy good looks
• Revolutionary (in their day) layouts
• Twin-rear-wheel drive
• Easy chassis upgrade

And our dislikes: 

• Three-piece windscreen has blind spots
• Challenging access to the in-line engine

What’s our pick of the range? Well, unless you have a large family, go for the Movilvetta Euroyacht 180 LX. We think this is the motorhome that offers the most sensuous luxury. 

But what to pay? Mint examples are available from close to £18,000. Those that have been lived-in and need an interior overhaul are sometimes available on eBay from £10,000 (on European plates).

What alternatives are there? You could also try the  Laika Ecovip 200i and 400i Iveco-based A-class models, or the Mobilvetta Icaro. These have the same layouts and are also based on Iveco vans, but have been built as overcab coachbuilt motorhomes. Consider all three if you see them come up at a good price on the secondhand market.

Our activities are broadly split in two. Dedicated offices at Troon and Largs are responsible for  brokerage activities  at both Yacht Havens.
