Falmouth Powerboat School
Falmouth Powerboat School (FPS) was established in 2011 to run alongside Falmouth School of Sailing (FSOS), with Falmouth Training Solutions created later in 2015. As an independent RYA recognised training centre, Falmouth Powerboat School runs all our Power and Motorboat training, offering a wide range of courses suitable for beginners through to commercial skippers.
Our friendly yet highly professional approach to power and motorboat training has seen us become the leading provider of motor and powerboat courses in Cornwall. Every one of our instructors hold strong operational commercial experience which enhances the already top-quality training they provide.
Over the years we have expanded and thanks in part to the mild Cornish winter, we are able to deliver courses throughout the year in one of the most scenic parts of England. With our commitment to excellence, we pride ourselves on delivering an unrivalled training experience in a friendly, relaxed environment.
We use a range of boats to ensure you have the most suitable vessel available for your training. Our well-maintained fleet includes:
- Motor Yachts: Nelson 44 and Sealine F37
- Powerboats: 6.4m Ribcraft powered by a 175HP Suzuki engine and 5.4m Solent

Falmouth School of Sailing
Falmouth School of Sailing (FSOS) was established in Falmouth in 1981 with Rob and the family running it since 2005. Initially we were offering dinghy and keelboat sailing, powerboat training, theory courses, but we have moved on to year round yachting courses, theory courses having expanded dramatically, plus custom own boat training.
Falmouth School of Sailing is an independent, fully recognised Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training and Chartering School. It has a well-earned reputation for high standards across all courses, providing top quality tuition in a fun and enjoyable fashion.

Falmouth Training Solutions are Cornwall’s leading provider of maritime and workplace training offering multiple courses led by highly experienced professional experts, each of whom are leaders within their field. Whether you’re looking for some time out on the water with the family or in need of a vessel to charter for filming or team building, we can arrange the right vessel for you. We can help you experience sailing holidays along the Cornish coast, voyages to the beautiful Isles of Scilly and anchorages in secluded coves. With the longest stretch of coastline in the UK, there is no better way to explore than from on the water.
Falmouth Marine Solutions
Falmouth Marine Solutions (FMS) was established to provide high-quality services for a range of boating needs. Our wealth of experience in the maritime industry means we are able to cater for various requirements including yacht management, yacht maintenance and yacht delivery, from land or afloat. We offer several guardianship and maintenance packages too with customised options available to help keep you safe on the water and take the hassle out of boat ownership.
All Falmouth Powerboat School courses are run in Falmouth and the surrounding areas which offer not just stunning scenery but a variety of excellent locations to refine your navigation skills on the water and even give you the opportunity to steer your way to a Cornish pasty.
As with all our courses, your instructor will ensure that you will come away from the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course with a far greater knowledge of safe boat driving and a huge grin on your face.

Falmouth Powerboat School (FPS) is a well established family run recognised Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training centre, with a vast and respected reputation throughout the maritime industry in Cornwall. For any sailors wishing to travel further afield, we run RYA Motorboat Cruising Courses. These are available from beginner to professional skipper. For Skippers wanting a little bit more speed to their Adventure we offer RYA Powerboat Courses. These are also available from beginner doing their RYA Powerboat Level 1 Course or RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course to professional skipper Working towards their RYA Advanced Powerboat Course.

RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course
£ 295.00 – £ 780.00
RYA Powerboat Level 2 is the equivalent to your driving licence but on the water and our most popular powerboat course. It is the minimum qualification requirement needed should you choose to hire a boat or participate as a powerboat driver whilst diving, water skiing etc. No previous boating experience is required to join this course.
This is a two day intense but very valuable course during which you will be taught to handle boats at high speed and perform manoeuvres that could save lives and get you out of trouble.
All Falmouth Powerboat School courses are run in Falmouth and the surrounding areas which offer not just stunning scenery but a variety of excellent locations to refine your navigation skills on the water and even give you the opportunity to steer your way to a Cornish pasty.
