Holterman Xtreme-60, a fully customizable yacht for the long haul
The Dutch shipyard Holterman has launched the construction of a new 60-foot model, 20 meters long. Despite its sporty profile, the Xtreme-60 is designed for long-distance cruising, offering good autonomy and moderate speeds for living on board, just like at home.
A fully glazed wheelhouse
Dutch shipyard Holterman is unveiling a new 60-foot yacht in its Xtreme yachts line of flexible, multipurpose powerboats. The first Xtreme-60, 20 meters long, is already under construction and is positioned between the existing models Xtreme-54 and Xtreme-78. Its sporty lines are highlighted by a fully glazed wheelhouse with an inverted windscreen. The "Thumblehome" design of the hull brings elegance to the X-treme 60, while the three large glass surfaces of the superstructure wrap around the salon.
Launch of the boat in 2024
The construction of the hull has already been completed and work is now turning to the superstructure. Bernd Weel's design calls for complex shapes and numerous hull openings to let in natural light. In late spring, the two parts will be joined together and the boat will be taken to the Holterman shipyard in Meppel for completion. The boat will then be launched in 2024 before leaving with its owners for a cruise in Norway. It was the larger Xtreme's windows and foredeck layout options that appealed to these new owners, as well as the large interior volume.
Beautiful outdoor living spaces
The development of the Xtreme-60 came about because of the larger Xtreme-78, with its generous outdoor space. The long aft deck is designed for lounging in the sun and shade, and offers plenty of living space. Wide, deep side decks, secured by high bulwarks, lead to an elegant salon on the foredeck. A table and two sofas in matte white fabric provide an ideal place to enjoy the sunsets. The open-worked bulwarks offer a view of the water below and facilitate mooring procedures.
A flexible beach club
On the other side is a flexible beach club. When the transom is closed, a bench seat provides a sea view. The hydraulically opening hatch reveals a deep garage for storing water toys, diving gear, bikes and other equipment. The swim platform can be lowered for easier access to the sea and also serves as a lifting and storage point for a dinghy of up to 5.5 m in length.
A highly personalized interior
The interior has been designed according to the owner's wishes, offering luxurious accommodation designed by Kitty van der Kamp. The main deck is a large, open and bright space connected to the cockpit lounge. The space is divided between a lounge, a dining room and a kitchen.
Forward is the semi-divided wheelhouse, offering good visibility to all sides and aft. On this first model, the lower deck is configured with a huge master stateroom extending the full width of the boat , with plenty of storage , a desk and a dressing table. An adjoining shower room with separate sinks offers a large walk-in shower. Further forward, a cozy TV lounge lit by the hull's large windows and a zenithal skylight is a specific request of the owner.
At the front of the boat there is a double cabin with a second bathroom, which also serves as a toilet during the day.
Slow speed and autonomy for the trip
The boat's propulsion is provided by two Volvo Penta D6-300 horsepower engines offering a cruising speed of 8 or 11 knots at full speed . Combined with a 5,000-liter fuel tank, this configuration offers a range of approximately 1,100 miles. Comfort at sea and at anchor is guaranteed by a DMS stabilization system.
Design options to customize your boat
While this first model will sail in the cool waters of northern Europe, the Xtrem-60 can also be adapted for tropical sailing. It is also possible to add crew accommodation in the aft room or to transform the lower deck salon into a third cabin.

Holterman Xtreme-60 first look: Who needs a flybridge when the deck is this spacious?
- Top stories
Dutch shipyard Holterman is adding a new 60-footer to its Xtreme range of multi-purpose motoryachts…
Designed to slot between the existing Xtreme-54 and Xtreme-78, the Holterman Xtreme-60 clearly takes some key design cues from the larger boat – not least in terms of its trawler-style wheelhouse, its enormous interior volumes and its long, unbroken hull windows.
But one of the major strengths of the new boat is actually the usability of its external decks. Conceived as an owner-operated yacht by Dutch designer Bernd Weel, the long aft deck is extremely sociable, with a pair of corner dining units angled towards the big stern bench.
That backs onto a beach club that provides another aft-facing bench seat, alongside a deep lazarette and a bathing platform big enough for carrying a 5.5m tender.
If you head forward though, the stylish bow lounge looks equally impressive. It features two banks of seating around the central table, plus a large forward-facing sunpad and long bulwark cutouts for great views of the sea, even from a seated position.
In the absence of a flybridge , the main deck’s big open-plan saloon is of course the hub of the day spaces. It features a high-end galley, comfy sofas and cosy indoor dining, all framed within wraparound glazing with unobstructed access to the aft deck.
Up a small staircase forward lies the semi-partitioned wheelhouse. And down below, there is a huge owner’s cabin amidships, a bright TV lounge further forward and a sizeable guest double in the bow.

In terms of performance, the new Holterman Xtreme-60 is more about stoicism than speed. It uses a steel, Category-A displacement hull with aluminium topsides, twin Volvo Penta D6-300 engines and a 5,000l fuel tank. According to Holterman, that should deliver an 8-knot cruise, a 1,100-mile range and a steady 12-knot top end.
In short then, it might lack the pace, the fourth cabin and the fly option of the 78 but if you’re after a tough, long-legged expedition yacht with lots of space, enjoyable open-air spaces and a healthy dose of luxury, the Holterman Xtreme-60 is a great looking solution.

Holterman's New 20m Xtreme-60 to Splash in Early 2024
Yachting Journal
Dutch shipyard Holterman is adding a new 60-footer (20m) to its Xtreme range of flexible, multipurpose motoryachts. Building work is already well underway on the first Xtreme-60, which will sit comfortably between the existing Xtreme-54 and Xtreme-78 models, with their muscular lines, trawler windows and sleek profile.
Construction of the hull is already complete, with the focus now shifting to work on the superstructure. Bernd Weel’s design calls for complex shapes and many hull openings, to bring natural light pouring inside. In the late spring, the two sections will be joined, and the boat will move to Holterman’s state-of-the-art shipyard in Meppel for fit-out.
"When we arrived at Holterman with our project, we had a really good connection," said the experienced owner behind the first Xtreme-60, who is planning a maiden cruise to Norway. "Then we saw the trawler windows on the larger Xtreme, and the possibilities for the foredeck area and we loved the concept. The interior volume of the boat is also enormous."
Development work on the Xtreme-60 owes a big debt to the larger Xtreme-78, with its generous exterior space. The long aft deck is designed to offer lounging in both shade and sun, and gives plenty of room for entertaining. Wide side decks tucked behind deep, safe bulwarks run forward to a stylish foredeck lounge. A drinks table and two banks of seating in matt white Sunbrella fabric make the perfect spot for a sundowner, and there's also a large forward-facing sunpad. Cut-away bulwarks deliver a view of the shimmering water below, and facilitate mooring procedures.
A wonderfully flexible beach club lies at the other end of the boat. When the transom is closed, a deep, padded seat makes an excellent spot for contemplating the yacht’s wake. But a hydraulically operated panel also opens to reveal a deep lazarette for storing water toys, diving gear, bikes or indeed any other equipment. The bathing platform can be lowered for easier access to the sea, and doubles as a lift and storage point for a tender up to 5.5m LOA.
"The design DNA is very typical of Xtreme" said Weel. "We focused on these sculptural surfaces creating reflections and shadows. For the 60, we focused on long continuous lines that really creates length. In the hull design, there’s quite some tumblehome, which makes it very elegant. All the glass is connected and wraps around the saloon. There are only three main glass surfaces."
Full owner's interior Conceived as an owner-operated yacht, the Xtreme-60 is entirely given over to luxurious accommodation designed by Kitty van der Kamp. The main deck is a single, large open-plan saloon, with wrap-around glazing and a broad connection to the lounging and dining area on the aft deck. With a high-end galley, cosy indoor dining and comfy sofas, this is the heart of the yacht.
Up a half-staircase forward lies the semi-partitioned wheelhouse, with excellent visibility on all sides, and sightlines aft. On this first model, the lower deck is configured as a huge full-beam master cabin, with plenty of storage, a desk and a vanity table. An opulently dimensioned ensuite shower room features separate his n’ hers basins and a large walk-in shower.
Further forward is a cosy TV lounge, lit with large hull windows and a skylight overhead – a key request of this first owner. A very well-appointed guest double lies in the bow, with access to a second bathroom, which also doubles as a day head. Interior styling uses a range of natural shades and materials to create a sophisticated, contemporary feel.
"Within the Xtreme-60, there is a lot of space in the hull" explained van der Kamp. "This means there is room for two very spacious sleeping cabins and two bathrooms. The design is as open as possible, because the windows on the lower deck run from front to back. In this way you bring the outside in. And because a lot of light comes in, we opted for darker colours – greys and taupes."
Technically flexible Power is delivered by two efficient Volvo Penta D6-300hp engines, which will be capable of achieving an 8-knot cruising speed, or 11 knots full throttle. Combined with 5,000 litres of fuel tankage, this reliable setup delivers an adventurous range of around 1,100 nautical miles. Comfort at sea and at anchor is guaranteed by an advanced DMS stabilisation system.
When she is delivered in early 2024, the first Xtreme-60 will be heading north, but the boat could equally be adapted for warm water use, and there is always the option of adding crew accommodation in the transom space or transforming the lower lounge into a third cabin. As ever, with Holterman, every project is unique.
"We know that different owners will want different things from their Xtreme yacht," said Robbert Holterman. "As a small, experienced team, we can customise designs quickly and efficiently. We take the time to get to know our clients so that, by the time their dream boat is launched, they are already members of the Holterman Yachts family."

Holterman’s Xtreme-60 Pushes Boundaries in Innovative Design and Versatility
- May 8, 2023
Dutch shipyard Holterman is expanding its Xtreme range of versatile and adaptable motoryachts by introducing a new 60-footer (20m) Xtreme-60. This new model will fit perfectly between the existing Xtreme-54 and Xtreme-78 models, known for their sturdy build, trawler windows, and sleek design.
The hull construction of the first Xtreme-60 is already completed, and the focus has now shifted to the superstructure. Bernd Weel’s design includes intricate shapes and numerous hull openings that allow natural light to flood the interior. In late spring, the two sections will be joined, and the boat will be transported to Holterman’s advanced shipyard in Meppel for final fit-out.
The design and development of the new motoryacht owes a significant debt to its larger sibling, the Xtreme-78, particularly when it comes to exterior space. The long aft deck of the Xtreme-60 has been designed to provide ample lounging space, both in the shade and sun, making it perfect for entertaining guests. The wide side decks, tucked behind deep and secure bulwarks, lead forward to a stylish foredeck lounge.
The foredeck lounge boasts a drinks table and two banks of seating, upholstered in matte white Sunbrella fabric, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing sundowner. Additionally, there is a generously sized forward-facing sunpad, ideal for sunbathing while taking in the stunning views. The cut-away bulwarks offer uninterrupted views of the glistening water below and facilitate smooth mooring procedures.
At the opposite end of the yacht, a versatile beach club awaits. When the transom is closed, a cushioned seat provides an ideal spot to sit back and enjoy the view of the yacht’s wake. However, with the touch of a button, a hydraulic panel opens to reveal a spacious lazarette capable of storing water toys, diving gear, bikes, or any other equipment necessary for your adventure. The bathing platform is designed to lower, providing effortless access to the water, and it also serves as a lift and storage location for a tender of up to 5.5 meters in length. With such versatile features, the Xtreme-60 is well-equipped to handle any type of water-based activity.
The Xtreme-60 boasts luxurious accommodations crafted by the talented Kitty van der Kamp. The entire yacht has been thoughtfully designed with the owner’s comfort in mind. The main deck features a spacious and open-plan saloon with wrap-around glazing, providing a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding waters. The saloon connects seamlessly to the lounging and dining area on the aft deck, creating a spacious and inviting area for relaxation and entertainment. The yacht’s heart lies in this central area, which features a high-end galley, perfect for preparing gourmet meals, as well as a cozy indoor dining area and comfortable sofas for unwinding after a day of water activities.
Located up a half-staircase forward, the semi-partitioned wheelhouse offers excellent visibility on all sides, including clear sightlines to the aft of the yacht. On the first model, the lower deck has been configured as a spacious full-beam master cabin with ample storage, a desk, and a vanity table. The ensuite shower room boasts an opulent design with separate his and hers basins and a large walk-in shower. Moving forward, guests will find a cozy TV lounge illuminated by large hull windows and an overhead skylight, a feature requested by the first owner. A well-appointed guest double cabin is located in the bow with access to a second bathroom that doubles as a day head.
The Xtreme-60 is powered by two highly efficient Volvo Penta D6-300hp engines, capable of achieving an impressive 8-knot cruising speed or 11 knots at full throttle. With 5,000 liters of fuel tankage, this reliable setup provides an adventurous range of approximately 1,100 nautical miles. Comfort both at sea and at anchor is guaranteed by the yacht’s advanced DMS stabilization system.
Scheduled for delivery in early 2024, the first Xtreme-60 will be heading north, but this versatile vessel could just as easily be adapted for warm water use.

Optimised volume and redundancy.
The owner’s stateroom is nicely located forward on the main deck while the lower deck is home to four well-proportioned guest suites, each with its own bathroom. The crew accommodation is of a high standard and, because the owners are very hands-on, Lady Fleur only needs room for a crew of four in a captain’s and two-bunk cabin.
