An Elegant, Modern Wedding at Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in Vancouver, British Columbia

Emily Vroom (32 and an assistant investment adviser) and Darryl Gauthier (36 and an investment adviser) outfitted their yacht club wedding in a simple color scheme of white, silver and blush pink in order to let the stunning ocean views take centerstage. Looking to add a dose of modern sophistication to the day's overall look—and because she loves them so much—Emily and her bridesmaids carried contemporary bunches of white calla lilies. The bouquets did double duty later in the evening, when they were reused as centerpieces for the reception. "The room is elegant as it is, so it required few decorations," Emily says. Advice from Emily: "Every marriage has its challenges, but remember to focus on each other, especially during wedding planning. Erin & Paul’s Royal Vancouver Yacht Club Wedding

The Royal Vancouver Yacht club at Jericho served as the stage for Erin & Paul’s summer wedding. Such a great venue with the view of the water, we were even granted a light show with lightening in addition to fireworks!

A pile of great vendors came together for this one – Erin Bishop from Dreamgroup (always a treat!), Manuel Mendoza for the bride’s gown and groom’s suit and JA Coutier for the bridesmaids. The cake was made by Paul’s dad and decorated by Erin’s mom which was a great touch. Flowers done by Granville Island Florist and Decor by Colin at Upright Decor . And of course, Soulstream for the band and all photographed by Reilly & Tamara for the Blue Olive troup.

When we had done Breanne and Wayne’s Engagement Session out in Port Moody last Spring I knew they would be a great couple to work with for their wedding at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club in Kitsilano. They brought their little squishy faced baby along to both the engagement session and wedding but we also had some time for the two of them thanks to some family help! These two love teasing each other but also showed so much care and affection for every person that was at their wedding. Super down to earth and genuine people.

Such a beautiful summer day it was and I love photographing anything near the beach so the docks of the Yacht club were a gorgeous backdrop! Here’s some our favourites from the day:

Michelle & Nick – Royal Vancouver Yacht Club Wedding

As a wedding photographer in Vacouver, I’m so lucky to be part of a very close and supportive network of photographers, as well as other wedding professionals. And because of this, we’re all happy to help out and often enjoy 2nd shooting for each other. I love shooting weddings, so if it’s short notice and I’m not booked, it’s fun to get a chance to work with someone else. The main benefit for me is that since I’m not the primary shooter, I’m not as focused on the more required shots…so I just get to explore and be creative!

I shot Michelle & Nick’s wedding last year with Brad Hughs and it was a blast. The other interesting part of being a 2nd shooter is I get a rare chance to start the day with the guys! It was fun to change things up.

We started the day at the gorgeous Loden Hotel and the staff were SO accommodating. We spent the morning shooting right in the lobby & bar, studio lights and all! What a great space.

Then off to the ceremony at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club , performed by one of my favourite marriage commissioners Diane Brown .

And what reception is complete without a little ‘Thriller’ action. 🙂 What a fun day!

Royal Vancouver Yacht Club Wedding: Sarah & Mike

Oh Autumn! Sarah and Mike’s wedding on Saturday, October 18th was the absolutely perfect autumn day. And I mean perfect . You see, Fall and Winter are the two rainiest months for Vancouver (actually Spring and Summer are too, hah!) and it poured on Thursday and especially Friday. Nevertheless, the forecast all week was calling for sun on Saturday, but who believes the forecast? Turns out: it was true! I remember back when I met Sarah and Mike in May, Sarah said her plan was to say and believe, “It’s going to be pouring!” so when it came to the day she wouldn’t be disappointed. Safe to say, we were all thrilled. The sun was out, the colour of the leaves were in full force: absolutely amazing. I honestly could not think of a more beautiful setting than Stanley Park and Granville Island for the portraits we took after the ceremony.

Sarah and Mike, thank you both so much for being fantastic clients. You are so sweet and it was such a priviledge to be there as part of your day. You made me completely comfortable and I felt right at home with both of you. I hope you are both having an incredible time in Mexico right now!

I started the day with Sarah in North Vancouver at her parent’s house.

I loved the fabric of this chair with the white shoes.

How cute is her dad?! I loved how happy he was truly was on Sarah’s wedding day: shows how much he must have known she would be in good hands marrying Mike.

Off to Stanley Park with the bridal party: first of all, the men.

The girls, being supermodels, y’know. Can you get enough of that light?! It was so incredible.

Are you kidding me: this is SO a favourite. Sarah does a wonderful “model” face. :)

I just noticed how both of their blue eyes match the colors of their reception perfectly. Gorgeous!

Then it was off to Granville Island for a more urban feel.

So classic.

The reception was held at the beautiful Royal Vancouver Yacht Club . What an incredible, incredible venue. The reception had a full ocean view, including this beautiful pier and a harbor full of yachts. Some amazing light once again!

False Creek Yacht Club boasts beautiful marina views that create a unique backdrop for wedding celebrations in downtown Vancouver. Say “I do” in the award-winning clubhouse located on the top floor of the building, and experience the stunning vistas of Granville Island, False Creek, and the brilliant sunsets over English Bay.

Facilities and capacity

The clubhouse features a lovely lounge (where a ceremony can be held), a boardroom and a wrap-around patio. Panaromic views from False Creek to English Bay can be seen through floor-to-ceiling windows in the lounge, and after your ceremony, guests can mingle and relax on the beautiful patio. A large kitchen is also available for use. The clubhouse can accommodate up to 150 guests for a reception and 90 guests for seated dindder.

Services offered

The friendly staff of False Creek Yacht Club will take care of every detail to ensure a flawless execution of your wedding celebration. Lighting and sound are provided by the venue. Couples are welcome to bring outside vendors for additional services.

Ono's Catering is the preferred catering company for False Creek Yacht Club. The team will design and create the perfect meal for your celebration and guide you through the menu selection process.

The venue offers Wi-Fi access. Complimentary parking is available for couples and their guests on the day of the event, and the washroom is handicap accessible.

We had a party here for my in-laws 40th anniversary. It is a beautiful place in a great location, with that grandness you would expect from a yacht club. They set us up in a separate room and there was a set menu. The meal started with some butternut squash soup. This was very nice. It was followed up with a Caesars salad that was just OK. The main course was salmon with veggies and rice. The salmon was overcooked, but this happens often in groups. My favorite part was the dessert, pecan pie with ice cream. Worth visiting.

*This is a review of the yacht club as a wedding locale only* What better place to feel like a princess for a day than someplace with "Royal" in the title. Oh wait, have some random kid come up to you before you walk down the aisle and tell you that you look like a princess might help too. Hubby and I were lucky enough to get married here going on a few years ago, but I've always wanted to yelp about how special this place was and made for an absolutely perfect day. I know, cliche right? But believe it or not, I'm not one of those people who dreamt about a wedding day and I didn't want to get overly involved with the details. I was the anti-Bridezilla. The person in charge of events at RVYC took care of a lot of the details since I was planning my wedding from California. I've heard about some wedding locations that have a lot of rules (no personal flowers or decorations, etc.) but the people at RVYC were very accommodating. We ended up getting married on the lawn behind the club which is perfect for a small to medium size wedding. We had to rent the chairs ourselves but that was relatively pain free. My bridesmaids and family also decorated the dining room themselves. They have several preset menus to choose from. We ended up doing a midday wedding and had a great assortment of hot and cold dishes. For a yacht club the prices were not ridiculous and at the time we actually thought it was pretty reasonable. The food was all five star. The desserts were absolutely incredible. They are also able to accommodate canapes and beverage service. No matter what the weather wants to do, the huge windows in the dining area provide a gorgeous view of the water, which is perfect for a place where it can potentially rain just about every day of the year. I come from a sailing family so I was lucky enough to be able to have a wedding here. At the time (I don't know what the rules are now) you had to be a member or closely associated to one. If you can snag it, I say by all means look at having your wedding at this yacht club.

Out of all the yacht clubs I've been to, this is definitely top 3. The clubhouse is beautiful, the location unbeatable, great service, good food, and a vibrant sailing community to mingle with. To dine here or use the club facilities, one must have a membership to the club or at a reciprocating club, so many simply can't go, but there is a way - start sailing! The Club maintains the most visited directory of sailors looking to crew for racing. Learn to sail a bit, sign up on the crew bank. Someone from the club will likely contact you asking you to crew on the recreational Wednesday night races, after which there is always a social gathering at the bar/restaurant for the sailors. If you sail on a member's boat, you'll likely be invited into the club for a drink or dinner. So, start sailing! Of course, if you like, you can always apply for membership, and knowing how to sail and having a sponsor for the club racing community won't hurt ;)

We attended a 50th birthday party at the RVYC this past weekend. We were impressed with the view, the service and the food. It was a fantastic venue and everyone one that attended had an amazing time! We also had a family dinner here a couple years ago with our children (7 & 2) and the lower level restaurant was also lovely, tasty food and very family friendly.

Came here for our work Christmas dinner party. Beautiful venue with view of the water. Nicely decorated in and out, not over done. The buffet dinner was fabulous! Good selection of seafood and the carvery had prime rib and turkey with all the fixings. The dessert table was just as long as the dinner buffet. Every dessert imaginable was available. Servers were attentive. Wonderful atmosphere.

I've been attending the Christmas buffet with my family, and coming here for special occasions since I was a baby. The food has always been great and the Club itself is gigantic and beautiful. I love the giant wooden spiral staircase. On sunny days you get an amazing view of all the boats, the ocean, and the mountains in the distance. The staff have always been warm, friendly, and attentive. The buffet this year was as great as expected. Although I felt slightly limited because I am a vegetarian and none of the hot dishes had labels, so I avoided anything that wasn't obviously a potato or something. The dessert buffet was to DIE for. I'm so glad I left room.. I piled my dessert plate high and headed back to the table. The chocolate cream pie was amazing, the cheesecake was creamy and wonderful.. one of the best I've ever had, and the eggnog creme brulee was incredible. I've been talking about it for days to anyone who will listen. The Christmas dinner buffet does have a dress code of "informal festive". Basically no jeans or athletic shoes. I was disappointed to see a few attendees ignore this. You are also not permitted to use your cellphone inside.

The view alone is worth five stars!!! We had the sushi and sashimi the toro was amazing!!! The tuna tartar also amazing. If you know a member get them to take you. If the wind is down you may even get to paddle board!

I must say, in the interest of full disclosure that I am not generally a fan of clubs unless they are professional ones. I have been to yacht clubs like this one where guests treated the staff as if they worked exclusively to satisfy their needs (demands?). From my experience here as a guest I have been impressed with the down-to-earth, caring staff and members who didn't seem to be there merely in order to be seen. The food at lunch is tasty. The club sandwich was so big that half each was more than enough. I really liked the random, home made look of the turkey instead of that bleached-white chicken or turkey in razor thin slices that is often used. The lobster bisque was tasty with juicy, not mushy pieces of seafood. The dessert choices could be more creative but that's a minor quibble. If you are lucky enough to be here on a clear day, the view is fantastic and it's a great place to dream. And maybe drink Moet et Chandon as the people sitting next to us were.

Every year the False Creek Yacht Club welcomes dozens of members to host private functions. Our lounge and  club boasts some of the most spectacular water views in the City of Vancouver and can be the perfect backdrop to your daytime or evening event.

With ample room for dining and entertaining, False Creek Yacht Club is one of the premier venues in the Lower Mainland of BC. 

Because we are a private members club, we have a limited number of events we can host each year to the general public.  If you are not a member of the Club, we would be pleased to consider your event with a minimum of 60 attendees.  Rental facilities in our clubhouse include our bar, dance floor, spacious dining lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a gorgeous, outdoor wrap-around patio.

The configuration of the dining lounge is flexible and accessible to persons with disabilities. When you have more than 35 attendees, daytime or evening, we’ll open our kitchen and bar for you with pleasure.

Fully licensed bar equipped with professional bartenders and tables & chairs for up to 100 guests which can be augmented or replaced by ceremony-type seating. Guests are welcome to bring outside vendors for additional services including décor, music, setup, and catering.

Our caterer and staff are standing by to assist as needed to create the perfect meal for your celebration. They’ll get creative and work with you to develop your perfect menu and theme for a memorable event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Full payment is due the day before the event.

To save the event date selected by the renter, a non-refundable security deposit of 50% of venue rental cost must be paid. The amount is due upon signing this agreement. We require a credit card be held on file in case of damages. Cancellations that occur 6 months or less in advance of the event, 100% of the rental fees will be charged.

50% of the rental rate is due upon signing the rental agreement. Payment may be made by cash, cheque or credit card. Credit card payments may be processed over the phone. The following occurrences may result in the additional charges and a restriction against future rental of facilities:

• The event continued past 1:00AM.
• There is any damage or loss to the building, surrounding area, and/or equipment.
• The cleaning was not done to the level required or expected.
• The event was found to permit underage drinking and/or drinking without the proper licenses or against False Creek Yacht Club’s policies.
• Failure to comply with the City of Vancouver’s noise restriction bylaws and/ beyond the tolerance of surrounding residents o Insufficient removal of personal belongings, decorations, and garbage (Additional charges may apply for cleaning).

Venue renters may bring outside wine to the event. The bar charges $25 per bottle opened. Every time a bottle is opened, the cork will be recorded. The bartenders will add that to your tab and is payable at the end of the event. It is subject to GST and 18% gratuity. Bottles of wine not used must be removed at the event end time. We are not responsible for lost or stolen goods.

An 18% gratuity is automatically charged to all drink menu items.

The bartender’s primary duty is to pour drinks for guests; if time permits, they bus tables for FCYC bar glassware. They provide assistance to bring garbage to the BFI blue container located on the ground level, but they do not collect garbage at any time. Catering staff usually help out to bus tables. Bartenders are on shift 1 hour prior to guests arriving unless specifically requested otherwise. They stay until the bar closes and is the last person to leave. They are not permitted to work over 10 hours without prior notice and overtime charges will apply if they are requested to.

Please arrange delivery dates and times ahead of time. There is an elevator and hand cart that can be used for deliveries. The Club can be opened by the Marina Attendants between 9AM – 5PM on weekends (604-648-2628). Weekday delivery can be coordinated at the office.

No. The priority of this venue is for the Club’s members. The rental cost only covers the booking of the day. Setup time can start at 9:00am on the day of the event.

The Club’s furniture can be arranged as requested on a floor plan. Without confirmation, a $200 setup fee will apply. Rental furniture setup and table settings are not included in the rental.

Yes, basic linen is provided. Specialized linen is subject to additional charges.

No. Any plates or cutlery must be rented through your catering company or Rental Company. Bar glassware is provided for serving alcoholic drinks ordered from the bartending staff. Champagne flutes and wine glasses used for table setting are not covered in the rental cost.

The bartenders are your on-site staff members for your event. If you would like additional staffing, separate charges will apply.

The venue must be left in the same condition that it was found in. The renter is responsible for clearing all tables of dishes, linens, and items that is not property of False Creek Yacht Club. The staff on-site at the event will provide garbage bags and will assist in taking down the garbage to the BFI container for proper disposal. Any broken items should be brought to the attention of the bartenders and must be cleaned up immediately. Decorations must be removed and any personal items remaining on the premises after the designated booking time will result in the loss of the damage deposit. The cleaning company will wash the floors, vacuum, clean bathrooms, and wipe down tables after the event. The use of the rental space and furniture is at the risk of the renter. Any legal infractions are the sole responsibility of the renter for the committed rental time. Renter is solely responsible for the conduct and welfare of all persons accompanying the renter.
