The best place - nothing fancy - BYOB and food - BBQ with your own grill - wonderful sunsets - see the moon rise above the water on the Long Island sound - always a breeze somewhere on the island

Echo Bay Yacht Club

Enhance your stay in the broughton archipelago, the echo bay yacht club is not your traditional yacht club, it is much better….

We are a loose association of likeminded Pacific Northwest Mariners that share a love for the Broughton Archipelago. We are a non-pretentious group that chooses to spend some of our valuable time cruising in this special place with the most wonderful of hosts and foundational members Tove and Pierre of Pierre’s at Echo Bay. We fly our burgees with a unique pride that stems from knowing this place in all its splendor. We invite you to join our “little club” and enhance your time in this special place. All are welcome, no sponsors, no secret handshakes, no arduous commitments – just a simple application… then its Welcome Aboard (fees of course).

We congregate annually with Tove and Pierre at their wonderful resort. Our four day time together is marked with many activities including a pot luck Appetizer social to reaffirm friendships and welcome new members, a two pronged fun fishing derby with both adult and youth classes, a “Ladies Tea” better described as wonderful brunch with those that choose not to fish that day, we incorporate themed participation in the scheduled dinners of Pierre’s at Echo Bay Resort, we often bring in “local” celebrities to present to us their perspective on our little corner of paradise.

We culminate our visit with the Commodores Dinner crowning the youth and adult Derby winners their due. The membership will meet along the way addressing important things like our new Bridge, dates for next year, a winter meeting in Seattle at the Boat Show.

Our time together is also celebrated with taking the local sites in kayaks and dinghy’s, a visit to Billy Proctors Museum and crab races.

So, we look forward to welcoming you into Echo Bay Yacht Club at this year’s August meet.

EBYC Application Form

Dates for the 2018 summer fishing derby meeting are august 12-15..

The theme for the week is the 70’s! ABBA will also be our theme for the duration of EBYC Fishing Derby with prizes for best dressed and more for all members who wish to participate!

August 12: 5:00 Appetizer night and Fishing Derby rules and buy-in August 13: Fishing Derby commences. Prime Rib Dinner and Status of fish caught August 14: Fishing Derby continues, Ladies Tea, Potluck dinner at 6 with a derby day recap. August 15: Derby goes until noon. General meeting TBD in the afternoon and Fish and Chip dinner at 6. Derby awards.

The Ladies Tea has been set for Tuesday, August 14. The Theme is ABBA, which means it’s time to break out your go-go boots, boas, bell bottoms and polyester. Sandra Andersen and Cathy Severns are sponsoring Ladies Tea. More details to follow and with a theme from the 70’s it will be fun.

Junior Sailing

Port Sailing partners with Echo Bay Yacht Club of New Rochelle and Harlem Yacht Club of City Island to provide high-quality sailing education and racing programs for ages 8 – 16. Membership is not required. All coaches have an average of ten years of sailing experience and five years of teaching experience. All are certified small boat sailing instructors by the US Sailing Association. Every year we run four, two-week sessions beginning in late June. For additional information, enquire within each program as details vary.

Partial refunds after June 1st, after, a booking fee of $500 will be applied 

Adventure Sailing // New Rochelle

The Adventure Sailing program provides kids a relaxed environment to learn and have a great time on the water. Kids have the opportunity to sail all types of boats including c420's, o'Pen Bics, Optis, and 23-foot Sonars. Activities also include boating safety, aids to navigation, and knot-tying. Children will be grouped by experience and age.

Adventure Sailing // City Island

Our number one program in New Rochelle is now offered on City Island! Adventure Sailing provides kids with a relaxed environment to learn and have a great time on the water. Kids have the opportunity to sail all types of boats. Activities also include boating safety, aids to navigation, and knot-tying. Children will be grouped by age and experience.

Two weeks: $1035

Optimist 1 // New Rochelle

The Optimist 1 program provides younger kids with the perfect intro to the world of sailing, designed for those who have never sailed before to learn all the necessary skills to skipper their boat.  The Optimist is the largest sailboat class in the world where all of the best sailors first learned. Optimist 1 leads into the next level, Optimist 2.

EBYC Race Team

Port Sailing School partners with Echo Bay Yacht Club to race with all other clubs on the Long Island Sound. The Laser and Feva race team is the strongest group of sailors that we have. They compete in local regattas with clubs from near and far, with the largest being Larchmont Race Week. Click "Apply" to contact us for more application info.

Optimist 2 // New Rochelle

Our Optimist 2 program is brand-new for 2024! This group is designed for children who have sailing experience on Optis. This program will teach children the basics of racing and if desired, children have the opportunity to participate in Green Fleet events designed to focus on sportsmanship and learning to race. 

Little Skippers // New Rochelle

Little Skippers is our half-day program for young campers who may not enjoy a full day of sailing. This program runs from 9:00 – 12:00. Students will learn the basics of sailing while having a great time with their friends. If desired, parents can choose to switch their children to a full-day program. Our goal is to pass on the love of sailing to a new generation.

Counselor In Training (CIT)

The CIT program has been redesigned for 2024. Now more than ever, CITs will be involved in teaching young children how to sail. Prior sailing experience is mandatory. This is a great gateway to a future position teaching sailing at camps, yacht clubs, and sailing schools. Port Sailing School does not guarantee future employment.

About the event

Boats to EBYC leave Dock A at the New Rochelle Marina.   Parking behind Patsy's restaurant, take the far stairs down to the Marina.  Learn about the club and membership opportunities.  Parents can learn more about the summer Junior Sailing Program.  Light refreshments to be served.
