Meet ‘Home,’ the Sleek 164-Foot Superyacht That Starred in ‘Below Deck’

The 164-footer was not only the backdrop for the reality series but also has hybrid propulsion and a "50 shades of white" interior., julia zaltzman, julia zaltzman's most recent stories.

Superyacht Home by Heesen

The 164-foot motor yacht Home was Heesen’s first hybrid yacht when it delivered in 2017. It was also the first yacht to combine hybrid propulsion with a Fast Displacement Hull Shape (FDHF), which is proven to outperform conventional hull forms at all speeds. Built in lightweight aluminum, Home delivers 48 percent more fuel efficiency than other yachts of the same size.

Another perk of the hybrid propulsion package is reduced noise and vibration. Sensory expert Barry Smith, founder of the Centre for the Study of the Senses, discovered that the enjoyment of fine dining and wine while cruising in electric mode is significantly enhanced.

“Our research has shown that the brain’s processing of taste is affected by noise, which reduces the tongue’s ability to detect salt, sweet and sour,” says Smith. “The beauty of Home is the ability to run at a sound of around 46 decibels—the sound level of softly falling rain—enabling those on board to enjoy food and drink with no diminution of taste.”

Home began as a speculation build by the shipyard, before the American owner stepped in to the project. The initial interior was not to his liking, so he engaged Italian designer Cristiano Gatto to rework the design. He mandated simplicity, rather than minimalism. He also requested decor inspired by his residences, reflecting their contemporary Ibiza style. One perfect example: The slinky metal chaise lounge in the main salon by Italian designer Franco Poli.

Here are 10 facts about one of the world’s first hybrid yachts.

Star of the Med

name of below deck yacht

Home ’s fortune took a sharp turn in 2022 when it became the star of the seventh season of Below Deck Mediterranean . Filmed in Malta, the reality series followed its crew over an eight-week charter season, with Captain Sandy Yawn at the helm. Unlike most yachts on Below Deck, Home retained its real name on screen. It was the first diesel-electric motor yacht to appear on the show, and in typical style, the producers added a dancing pole to the sundeck to spice up the onboard antics.

50 Shades of White

name of below deck yacht

Home takes the trend for neutral interiors to a whole new level. Alongside a color palette of black and gray with pops of deep red, the yacht features 50 shades of white, from off-white to ivory. The original owner mandated an interior that gave him a “home away from home”—hence the yacht’s name. Low-slung sofas and bespoke loose furniture create a relaxed and welcoming beach club ambience. The vessel’s teak flooring and full-height glass windows blur the distinction between inside and out.

Party Lounge

name of below deck yacht

One of Heesen’s signature areas is an upper-deck sky lounge. Home ’s casual bean bags, daybeds, and stark-white bar with LED strip lighting provide a natural extension to the alfresco dining terrace. When the doors to the aft deck are shut and the furniture removed, a mirror ball and a smoke machine are added turning the area into a dedicated party room for nighttime use.

A Dreamier Shade of Pale

name of below deck yacht

Full-height windows in the full-beam, main deck owner’s suite bounce natural light off the paler-than-pale color scheme. The off-white bed, rug, walls, and ceiling are offset with a sky-blue bed throw. There is a dressing room, an en suite with shower and a private office. There’s also a full-beam VIP cabin on the lower deck, as well as two double cabins and two twin cabins to accommodate 12 guests, including families.

Moody Sundeck

name of below deck yacht

Home ’s sundeck is the hub of the boat. There are sun lounges forward with privacy glass safety screens to shelter guests from sea spray and wind. Beneath the hardtop bimini is a large sit-up bar and lounge area, which also doubles as an outdoor dining area. The bar lights up in soft pastel shades at night to bring the party atmosphere. Aft is a Jacuzzi, while a projector and a screen set-up transform the deck into an outdoor cinema.

On the Nose

name of below deck yacht

The yacht is easily spotted on the horizon, thanks to its distinctive plumb bow. The vertical front increases Home ’s waterline length, helping it to slice through waves and lift in rougher water. It guarantees a smoother and faster ride for guests, as well as creating more room on the interior for crew accommodations. For a more immersive journey, a telescopic seat on the foredeck rises from the bow for 360-degree views.

Sea Terrace

name of below deck yacht

A central staircase on the main deck aft leads down to an oversized swim platform that doubles as a sea-level sun lounge. With plenty of room for daybeds and sunrise yoga sessions, it’s the perfect waterside hang out.

The Athletic Club

name of below deck yacht

The lower-deck gym is a full-beam, air-conditioned space for guests to sweat it out. It’s kitted out with a range of equipment, including a workout bench, Techno Gym dumbbells, an exercise bike, and a rowing machine. When guests are done with their workout, they’re just a few steps from the sea for the ultimate plunge to cool off.

The Electric Package

name of below deck yacht

The twin 805 hp MTU engines (smaller than those typically fitted on a yacht of this size) can be operated in four different cruising modes: hybrid (with noise levels in the owner’s stateroom measuring as low as 46 decibels), economic, cruising (consuming as little as 12 gallons per hour at 9 knots), and boost, which pushes the boat to a top speed of 16.8 knots.

Fast, Efficient Hull

name of below deck yacht

At the time of launch, Home was the first yacht to combine the super efficiency of an FDHF hull, designed by Van Oosenan Naval Architects, with hybrid propulsion. The combination was celebrated with a RINA green award presented by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Below Deck Yachts

Yacht with Below Deck logo

If you’ve never seen the show, it follows the crew of a luxury yacht during peak “charter season.” The original Below Deck, for example, showed off the glitz and glamour of the Caribbean, especially around St. Thomas, the British Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas. The Mediterranean spin-off, on the other hand, highlights European hotspots, including Italy, Spain and Croatia.

The show is undeniably a ton of fun. From the drama in the crew quarters, to the incredible beaches, the show provides an entertaining look behind the curtain.

Yet, the chartered superyachts are the real stars of the show. Each season, Below Deck features a truly stunning super yacht. All of them measure over 150 feet and are decked out in opulent features, staterooms and amenities. And here’s something you might not know: The majority of the Below Deck yachts are available for charter!

Below Deck Charter Yachts

Through five seasons, Below Deck has featured some of the most magnificent super yachts in the world. Some of the yachts have changed ownership since the show, been renamed, or have undergone a refitting. Yet, most look like they did from the show.

But beyond the name and maybe a few changes to the interior, there aren’t many differences. All of the water toys, Jacuzzis and stunning outdoor dining areas are what you’ll find on the yachts available for charter! So which charter yachts are available?

Here’s a more detailed look at the yachts featured on the original Below Deck:

Honor – Season 1

Lumiere yacht

Honor (which is now LUMIERE) kicked off the first season, and she put on a dazzling display. The yacht, originally built by Benetti in 1999, is one of the largest yachts ever featured on the show, and it was actually booked for a five-week charter for filming.

HONOR benefited from the new-found fame of the show. She sold after it aired for nearly $15 million, and the new owners completely refit her interiors and renamed the boat. Today, LUMIERE is a masterpiece of nautical engineering.

She features luxurious accommodations for up to 12 guests and an abundance of deck space, including a sprawling sun deck. The yacht also features a wide array of water toys (the slide was a struggle for the crew all season!).

Ohana – Season 2

Yacht Rhino

Season 2 took the crew on a tour of the British Virgin Islands and featured some familiar faces. Captain Lee, Chef Ben, and Bosun Eddie were back, much to the pleasure of fans. Yet, the yacht was completely different.

OHANA (real name is RHINO) was featured on the second season, a stunning 154-footer, with beautiful decks, a horseshoe outdoor bar, and a stunning outdoor sun deck. After the show aired in 2014, Ohana underwent an extensive retrofit.

She now features an updated interior with a decidedly modern, airy vibe, as well as new hardware, including a state-of-the-art stabilization system.

Eros – Season 3

Yacht Mustang Sally

EROS took centerstage in Season 3, and the 161-foot yacht, originally built for the founder of Tim Hortons, was one of the most luxurious featured on the show. The beautiful tri-deck, featured a stately saloon, a sky lounge Jacuzzi, and sleek exterior styling.

EROS – which was sold prior to the third season – has since been renamed and was also remodeled. She’s now known as Mustang Sally, and unfortunately, this is one of the few Below Deck charter yachts that’s not available for charter.

Valor – Seasons 4 & 5

name of below deck yacht

The stately VALOR was a fan favorite in Season 4 and 5. Built in 1990 by Dutch-based Feadship, the 154-foot VALOR featured a sprawling aft deck, perfect for sunset dinners and afternoon lounges. Plus, the ship – when featured on the show – had a range of water toys, including dual jet skis and a sleek, boutique hotel-inspired interior.

Like Mustang Sally, VALOR – which is now known as simply BG – isn’t available for charter. Yet, fans will always remember all the drama that took place on board.

Below Deck Mediterranean Yachts

Below Deck Mediterranean premiered in 2016, and through three seasons, the show has featured some of the Med’s best yachts. All of the yachts from the Mediterranean spin-off are available for charter, exactly how you see them on the show.

Ionian Princess – Season 1

Yacht Ionian Princess

Season 1 of Below Deck Mediterranean launched with a bang, featuring one of the strongest premieres for the franchise. Although there was plenty of drama throughout the season as the crew traveled around Greece, the beauty of IONIAN PRINCESS couldn’t be missed. The ship, which was originally built in the U.S. in 2005, featured a sleek, streamlined tri-deck design and gorgeous interiors.

The sun deck – where guests partied all season long – is one of the yacht’s star attractions, featuring a Jacuzzi with world-class views. Her interior, though, is one of the most stunning, featuring a chic design. The yacht also includes six cabins with accommodations for up to 12 guests.

Sirocco – Season 2

Sirocco yacht

Season 2 took the crew to Croatia, aboard SIROCCO. The Dutch-built yacht originally launched in 2006, and thanks to its unique two-tone, third-deck exterior, she was remembered for her striking exterior. All of the yacht’s features made great TV. From her incredible sun deck, to the African chic interior, and all of the many water toys, SIROCCO’s impressive design and amenities stood out.

Today, she’s available for charter throughout the Mediterranean. A few unique features include a sun deck gym, an alfresco party deck, a theatre, and a wide array of water toys.

Talisman Maiton – Season 3

Talisman

Named for an island in Thailand, TAILSMAN MAITON is a stunning tri-deck that cruises the pristine waters of Italy and all of the Mediterranean. The largest to ever be featured on the show, TAILSMAN is truly incredible.

The yacht accommodates 12 guests, in 6 beautifully appointed rooms. There’s a master suite, as well as 1 VIP stateroom, and four smaller cabins. The yacht was built in 2006, but most recently refit in 2016 with a timeless Art Deco aesthetic. The yacht also features a sundeck spa pool with a beautiful bar, a full-service gym, and an observation deck with panoramic views.

How Long Are the Below Deck Charters?

Here’s a little-known secret about Below Deck: The “charter season” on the show is just a few weeks. In fact, the yachts are actually booked for about six weeks, and their regular crews are sent home. In other words, the charters on Below Deck are actually a charter within a charter!

Each of the Below Deck charters last just a few days, and each episode features new charter guests.

Below Deck Yacht Rental Costs

Hiring a yacht from Below Deck isn’t cheap. The majority cost in the neighborhood of $150,000 per week. Yet, that charter rate doesn’t include expenses, including fuel, dockage fees, and taxes.

Yet, for that price, you’ll get a truly world-class experience. The crews of each of these yachts provide first-class service and all of the boats are fully loaded with amenities. There’s nothing quite like it in the world. And by hiring one of these superyachts, you’ll also have bragging rights for chartering a yacht featured on a TV show!

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Daisy Kelliher claps back at troll over Colin MacRae romance

Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4

It’s been over a year since Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans watched Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae’s romance go up in flames.

The two friends took things to a romantic level while filming Season 4 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers watched them speak their truth in the explosive Season 4 finale.

In true reality TV fashion, fans immediately began taking sides and that hasn’t subsided at all.

The other day, Daisy took on a troll for coming at her over what went down with Colin.

During a recent Instagram Q&A session, one critic didn’t have a question for Daisy but rather a comment for her.

“You really did Colin wrong and you’re crazy when you talked about him flirting with chef!” read the question.

The remark didn’t sit well with Daisy, who hit back via a video.

“You are crazy. You were not there. You literally saw a fraction of what happened, and you also saw what producers wanted you to see. So yeah, and it was all that two years ago move on, we’ve all moved on. You need to move on. It’s really not a big deal,” she expressed.

Daisy Kelliher IG Story

Daisy and Colin were reunited last year at BravoCon, along with Captain Glenn Shepard. They did some brief interviews together and appeared on the Below Deck panel.

Colin and Daisy were very cordial, admitting that they don’t really speak to each other anymore, but there was no ill will.

We know that Daisy filmed Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 with Gary King last summer. However, Colin was reportedly not seen in leaked photos. This makes sense since he was sailing his catamaran all over while cameras were rolling on Parsifal III.

Where do Daisy Kelliher and Colin MacRae stand today?

The Below Deck Sailing Yacht stars admitted during BravoCon that they would work together again. Colin and Daisy agreed they could be professional and put aside their personal feelings.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck (@belowdeckbravo)

Since we know Colin isn’t in Season 5, we must wonder where they stand today. Daisy previously shared they don’t speak as their lives are completely different.

It’s not much of an update, but as Daisy said in her IG Story, they have both moved on, and so should fans.

In other Daisy news, she and Below Deck’s Fraser Olender are teaming up for a special event, and you can read all about it here.

Be sure to keep checking back with Monsters and Critics for Below Deck Sailing Yacht updates.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently on hiatus on Bravo. Seasons 1-4 are streaming on Peacock.

Captain Glenn on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 return and the Bayesian 'freak accident'

Captain Glenn Shephard has been a familiar face throughout all four seasons of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, where he has commanded Parsifal III.

From dealing with the yacht's unpredictable challenges and managing onboard love triangles, to enjoying oversized crackers in the galley, the Bravo star has made the 177-foot vessel his second home for more than 15 years.

Usually catering to demanding guests as they charter through Greece, Spain, and Italy, it seems fitting that the 63-year-old chatted with us from the comfort of his own boat, Avalon, in Croatia.

Season 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht has been one of the most anticipated in the show's history. Viewers have been eagerly awaiting its release after photos confirmed filming took place last summer.

Initially slated for a February debut, fans have speculated that the latest season’s release has been delayed following allegations of sexual misconduct against first mate Gary King, made by a production member just days after filming wrapped. King has vehemently denied the accusations.

Despite the controversy, the Montreal native reassured fans that the new season is on its way. However, he remains unsure of exactly when viewers will see him alongside engineer Colin Macrae and chief stew Daisy Kelliher back on their screens.

He told The Standard: “They announced it at BravoCon in November. But then it didn’t air in Spring or Summer. I think it’s coming soon, but I don’t know exactly when. The network decides that. I get endless questions on social media about it, but all I can say is, 'It’s coming soon'.

“We just have to be patient.”

name of below deck yacht

Though the delay is frustrating, it appears both Shephard and fans will have to wait a bit longer for the next season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. In the meantime, UK fans can catch him at the Southampton International Boat Show 2024 later this month. The event, the largest of its kind in the UK, returns for its 55th year at Mayflower Park from 13th to 22nd September 2024.

Speaking about his involvement, he said: "It's pretty cool. I'm really excited."

The seasoned captain will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, host a meet-and-greet, and take part in a Q&A session. And he assured us that he’s ready for all questions, even tough ones regarding the recent Bayesian tragedy, which claimed the lives of British entrepreneur Mike Lynch , his daughter Hannah, and four others when their luxury yacht sank off Sicily.

Boat enthusiasts have been eager to hear Shephard’s perspective on the tragic sinking of Bayesian , especially given his experience with Parsifal III, a superyacht from the same manufacturer. Although that’s where the two vessels similarities end, with Parsifal boasting two masts, not one. It also doesn't have a lifting keel, meaning stability is always at its maximum onboard.

Speaking of the tragedy, Shephard added: “I know there's going to be questions, and I'm happy to address them, but I'm not going to speculate. All I can say is, my heart goes out to the family and loved ones of the people that perish. It's a horrible tragedy, and I'll also say it's definitely a freak accident. You know anyone thinking about going out on a boat and worried that's going to happen - that doesn't happen and I couldn't believe that it could happen.

“We're going to have to take steps to make sure it never happens again, obviously. But no one thought that that could happen. We're all blown away - people in the industry, naval architects - it was a freak incident. That's all I can say.”

Glenn stressed that the Marine Accident Investigation Branch will thoroughly examine the situation, avoiding “guesswork and conspiracy theories” amid the growing social media speculation. He also underlined the importance of safety onboard and reassured viewers that such freak accidents are uncommon.

“Safety is critical,” he said. “It's the most important thing at all times. And we're always keeping an eye on the weather, obviously, but that what happened was a very localised, I think was a very localised event.

“It probably came and gone in a matter of minutes. It's not a hurricane. It's not a storm that's lasting all night. It's something that blows through. I don't know I wasn't there, but that's what I think. And so you have to take all the precautions to be ready for anything, you know, and that's I think we will all learn from this.”

With his sailing knowledge sure to be challenged this weekend, Shephard can usually rely on the camaraderie of his fellow Below Deck captains to riff off of.

Since the debut of Below Deck Sailing Yacht in 2020, he has formed close bonds with Captain Sandy Yawn and Captain Lee Rosbach , whom he hopes will “take to the high seas again” after missing season 12 due to ill health.

name of below deck yacht

However, Shephard's colleagues have had their share of drama. It all started when Yawn stepped in for Rosbach during Season 11 after he had taken ill. Their feud reached fever pitch when he publicly criticised her leadership and her decision to fire stew Camille Lamb without telling him. As a result, Yawn cemented their fallout by not inviting Rosbach to her wedding in May.

Despite the drama, Shephard has stayed neutral and hopes for reconciliation. He shared: “I always like to bring people together, but I don’t know the full story. There’s talk, and it seems they’ve confirmed they’re not the best of friends. But life’s too short for that.

“When we were all together on stage at BravoCon, they seemed fine. But personalities are tricky — especially in the yachting world, where square pegs don’t always fit into round holes. Strong personalities can mean conflict, and resolving that is a massive skill in any industry."

Looking ahead, the captain is contemplating his future with the show after five seasons. For now, fans can rest assured that Captain Glenn isn’t ready to retire from the captain’s chair just yet. He’s aiming to strike a balance between his work and personal enjoyment, signalling a move towards a more leisurely future.

“I’ll probably continue doing it as long as they keep asking me back. I love it. But because of my age, it’s time for me to stop and smell the roses a bit. My sailing days for work aren’t over, but I’m not going to do it full-time anymore. I’d love to do more seasons of the show.”

55m Trinity superyacht Purpose will feature on season 9 of Below Deck

Mustique: 55m Trinity makes a return for season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean in Greece

Season nine of hit reality TV Show Below Deck Mediterranean will return to screens on 3 June 2024 with Captain Sandy Yawn at the helm, marking her eighth consecutive season. According to TV network Bravo, the reality show will be based in the Greek city of Athens and the superyacht crew will cruise on the 54.9-metre Trinity motor yacht Purpose  - a yacht that was formerly known as Mustique.

The yacht was called Mustique throughout the filming of the show, and only changed her name to Purpose in January 2024, shortly after the yacht was listed for sale for $19,000,000. She underwent a substantial refit last year, with her formerly white hull repainted sky blue and her interior undergoing substantial changes, too.

Who are the cast in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9?

Chief stew Aesha Scott (who originally worked with Captain Sandy on seasons four and five of Below Deck Mediterranean ) will return along with Elena Dubaich, who stepped in during season seven when Kyle Viljoen got injured. Chef Johnathan Shillingford, bosun Iain Maclean, deckhands Joe Bradley, Nathan Gallagher, and Gael Cameron, and stew Bri Muller, complete the crew.

A look inside the Below Deck superyacht

Purpose was built by Trinity Yachts in the USA in 2006 and recently underwent a refit in 2023, which saw the completion of a new interior and a comprehensive upgrade of all operational systems. The yacht for charter is currently managed by Hill Robinson and is available throughout various stages of her world tour across the Mediterranean Sea, Scandinavia, Greenland and Canada.

Purpose accommodates 12 guests across six cabins, encompassing a master suite on the main deck and a VIP, three doubles and a twin on the lower deck. Her interior is characterised by a traditional yachting style with dark wood panelling and light upholstery featuring oceanic patterns and blue accents.

She boasts a range of social spaces, including the main saloon lounge with its baby grand piano, the formal dining room and upper deck lounge. Her standout feature includes a spacious sundeck, complete with a Jacuzzi, sun loungers and bar counter with stools – an area where charter guests can enjoy the space as an al fresco gym or open-air cinema when night falls.

Her charter credentials are heightened by a huge range of water toys, as well as an inflatable pool and beach club pontoon.

Equipped with at-anchor stabilisers and accompanied by a nine-metre Intrepid tender, the charter yacht has a top speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,000nm at her economical cruising speed.

How much does it cost to charter Mustique from Below Deck?

For summer 2024, Purpose (ex Mustique ) is chartering with Hill Robinson for a rate of €310,000 per week during high season.

Below Deck EP admits sometimes casting misses are made: 'Some people freak out'

Executive producer Nadine Rajabi recently spoke to Melissa Rivers about "the problem" with "what is happening in all of reality now."

Below Deck is one of the splashiest, most drama-filled franchises in the Bravo -verse. But even there a dud or two sometimes makes it through the casting process.

"That has happened so many times," said Nadine Rajabi, an executive producer of the mothership series Below Deck as well as spinoff series Below Deck Mediterranean and Below Deck Down Under . Speaking with Melissa Rivers on her Group Text podcast, Rajabi detailed meeting potential cast members who were "so funny" and had ideal "work hard, play hard" personalities during interviews, only for them to "get on the boat" and "just freeze because of the cameras."

Rajabi continued, "Some people freak out because they're like, 'Oh my gosh, what did I sign up for? How is this going to affect my life?' And some people are just, I mean, they're just silent. And I'm like, 'What happened? You were so funny and outgoing.'"

Fred Jagueneau/Bravo

Adding that at the end of the day, "There's absolutely nothing you could do," because unlike other reality series, Below Deck operates as a workplace within a workplace, which means "you cannot fire them," because once they're cast, "then they're in the care of the captain."

The Below Deck franchise is one of Bravo's most expansive reality series, with four spinoffs including Mediterranean, Down Under, Sailing Yacht, and Adventure counting a combined 27 seasons reaching nearly 500 episodes. Rajabi is the showrunner on Mediterranean , the most successful of all the Below Deck spinoffs, so has played a critical role in casting many of the show's breakout stars, like chef Ben Robinson and Captain Sandy Yawn .

"You meet somebody like two times on a Skype, maybe three times on a Skype at most, maybe one time some of the people. Some people do so well we just do one Skype with them and that's it. Some people we talk to a couple of times because you want to make sure," she said. "I always say to them, be yourself, because if you try to be something that you're not, the camera is going to sniff it from a mile away. The camera never lies." But Rajabi's sage advice, she says, is too often ignored.

The unavoidability of new cast members falling flat once the cameras start rolling is only one fire Below Deck producers are frequently called upon to put out. The franchise has also weathered its share of cast member firings for inappropriate behavior, accusations of sexual misconduct among the cast and crew, and even theft on the part of guests.

Rajabi says that while Bravo has "a whole department that does all the checks," you can't always "know when they're lying on their CVs." She continues that "that's when you run into these seasons that kind of become toxic - if somebody's trying to be something that they're not, or trying to start something. It's just like, 'Why are they doing this?'" Sign up for  Entertainment Weekly's  free daily newsletter  to get breaking TV news, exclusive first looks, recaps, reviews, interviews with your favorite stars, and more.

Bravo has entered an unprecedented new era of scandal and legal embattlement, with multiple lawsuits from former Housewives cast members like Brandi Glanville and Leah McSweeney, which include specific allegations against the executive producer of the franchise and face of the network, Andy Cohen .

Below Deck hasn't seen the same kind of network-property in-fighting, but Rajabi does see issues creeping into the reality television format at large. "I think it's lost its innocence," she says of the franchise. "Back then," at the show's inception in 2013, "it was truly yachties just doing a YOLO thing. Maybe they did another season, and then they go back to their boats."

But now, "they want to come be reality stars. And I think that's the problem of what is happening in all of reality right now."

From Captain Lee to Chief Stew Kate, the characters of the Below Deck franchise have caught viewers hook, line and sinker over the past few years.

We’ve had Chef Leon’s endless seasons of beef cheeks, yacht crashes, staff falling overboard, firings, hirings and some very impressive cash tips.

While most real-life “yachties” maintain that the dramas shown on Below Deck does not happen on their yachts, it sure does make for good TV.

Below Deck series finished its 11th season this year, but fans can now tune in to the chaos of Below Deck Mediterranean, which is currently being streamed on Bravo.

So where are all our favourite characters these days?

Here’s what the chefs, stewardesses and deckhands did after their stint at sea.

Captain Lee

name of below deck yacht

While the rest of his crew were often embroiled in bitter spats and romantic feuds, Captain Lee served as the wise voice of reason.

Known for his no-nonsense approach, he was a staple of the Below Deck family across 10 seasons before his departure due to mobility issues following surgery.

Speaking to the Standard , Captain Lee said: “I miss the traveling. I miss the challenges. And there’s certainly no lack of challenges on board, each one unique and different. So, yeah, I do miss it.”

Since leaving Below Deck, the veteran captain has remained in the entertainment world. He’s gone on to front a true crime series, Deadly Waters With Captain Lee, and a pop culture podcast called Salty with Captain Lee.

However, he may still be open to returning to the show should the producers approach him about it.

Boasting a cheeky sense of humor and a distinct British accent, Chef Ben Robinson knew how to cook up a storm during his seasons of Below Deck. He left the show in 2016 but continued to appear on Below Deck Med in a handful of episodes.

Alongside his television stints, Robinson has stuck to what he knows best: cooking. With almost 1 million Instagram followers, he shares cooking videos on social media as he plates up delicious recipes for diners around the world.

According to Us Weekly, he also specialises in weight loss, addiction support and cancer care. Last year he confirmed that he had proposed to his girlfriend of three years, Kiara Cabral.

Kate Chastain

Fiery chief stewardess Kate Chastain spent six seasons on the show before confirming her departure to pursue new projects. She also remained in the entertainment world, initially going on to host a Bravo show called Chat Room and appearing on other talk shows. More recently, she has appeared on The Traitors US season one and two.

But her days of working on a yacht may be over. “These days I prefer being a guest on a yacht,” she wrote on social media this summer.

In 2023, Chastain’s son Sullivan was born and she has shared lots of doting pictures of her family life on social media.

Eddie Lucas

Deckhand-turned-bosun Eddie Lucas initially graced our screens for three eventful seasons before returning for another stint in seasons eight and nine. After the show, he remained at sea and finally gained his captain’s licence as he’d always dreamed he would. These days he operates a tug boat in the US.

“I’m the captain now,” he wrote in 2022.

“After 10 years of hard work, I’m proud to announce I am now captain of a harbor tug in Baltimore Harbor. I am working with a great crew, on a great tug, and I’m excited for 30 more years of harder work. Big thank you to my family, both on and off the water, I wouldn’t be here today without you.”

Ashton Pienaar

Ashton Pienaar was working as a deckhand on Below Deck when he almost died in season six after his foot got caught in a tow line, sending him overboard. He was dragged into the water and saved by the cameraman during the hairy moment, which left the entire crew shaken.

Pienaar now works as a health and fitness coach and has published a memoir called Knots, Lines, and Life, which is about his life at sea.

Hannah Ferrier

Australian chief stewardess Hannah Ferrier is one of the most memorable characters from Below Deck Mediterrenean.

She was forced to leave the show after violating maritime law for holding valium without a prescription, as well as a weed pen.

According to her social media, she is “now helping people realise their dreams of working on yachts” and hosts a podcast called Dear Reality You’re Effed.

In 2020, she gave birth to a daughter, Ava Grace Roberts.

Raquel 'Rocky' Dakota

Rocky was one of the wilder crew members to grace our screens, known for her impressive diving skills, mermaid tail and on-screen romance with Eddie.

“After the show, I went on a big blow-out vacation trip, with no rules and no regulations! I linked up with my hot model girlfriends in Paris and just crushed Europe,” she said after leaving the show.

According to Screen Rant, Rocky stepped back from yachting and television and went on to share many social media posts about her dreamy surfer lifestyle.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been one of the most long-awaited in franchise history, but the show may not return despite previous reports due to Gary King’s poor behavior . The Below Deck franchise has several shows that follow yachties in their lives working aboard luxurious vessels as they take Captain’s orders and serve charter guests. There’s always a layer of drama beneath the surface. From crew to crew, different dynamics become prevalent and create all sorts of issues, from romantic problems to interpersonal squabbles. Below Deck Sailing Yacht has become one of the most interesting Below Deck shows.

Although Below Deck Sailing Yacht has several seasons under its belt, the show has been struggling since its last season. With its last season, Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 , having come out well over a year ago, many have been wondering where the next season of the series is. Unfortunately, the Parsifal III’s Gary has made some questionable choices in the past. With serious allegations of sexual misconduct coming out after the last season of the series, could be the reason the show is delayed or canceled. After some false hope, could Below Deck Sailing Yacht be gone forever ?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Logo Was Featured In A Bravo Promo

The show was considered dead.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 was considered dead by many fans of the franchise, but there was a bit of hope. When the logo of the series was featured on Bravo, it seemed the already-filmed fifth season could be surfacing soon . In a promo revealing what shows would be coming to the network this fall, Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s logo was prominently featured alongside shows previously confirmed to be coming back by the network. Although there was no formal confirmation from the network about the show, many took the promo as a clear indicator it would be returning.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

While Below Deck Sailing Yacht is one of the more popular series in the franchise, things have been particularly difficult to discuss after Bravo chose to mostly ignore Gary’s sexual misconduct allegations. Many believed that they would just quietly cancel the series rather than address the issues , releasing themselves from the responsibility of dealing with Gary’s behavior . With the promo featuring the Below Deck Sailing Yacht logo, many were shocked to see that the series would likely be returning even after facing such an enormous scandal.

Some Have Noticed The Logo Has Been Removed

It may have been added in error.

While the logo for Below Deck Sailing Yacht was originally in the promo about what was coming to Bravo this fall, some viewers who have seen the promo run since noticed that it’s been removed. Now, a version of the promo without a Below Deck Sailing Yacht logo entirely has been airing on the network, confusing viewers. Many are wondering if the original promo was a mistake, and Below Deck Sailing Yacht isn’t returning at all , while others are assuming it could just mean there’s another delay with the next season of the series.

Could Below Deck Sailing Yacht Be Over?

Gary’s actions changed the trajectory of the series.

Some BDSY viewers are convinced that the series will still be returning at an indeterminate time, but others are certain that Gary’s actions changed the trajectory of the series and it’s now come to an end . While Gary has vehemently denied the allegations against him, some Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers have shared that they believe the victim and could see Gary committing some terrible acts. While it’s possible the promo did indicate the return of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , it seems more likely that Gary’s behavior has pushed the show off course, causing it to drift out to sea.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht: Official date, cast members and destination revealed

By Editorial Team   20 December 2019

After exclusively breaking the news about the brand new 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' series earlier this year, YachtCharterFleet can now unveil more details about Bravo's latest addition to the Below Deck franchise.

Set to hit our screens on February 3, 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' will follow a new crew of yachties as they set sail around the coastlines of Greece .

This is the first series in Below Deck history which features a luxury sailing yacht, with the 180ft sailing yacht Parsifal III playing the starring role.

The new series joins the original Below Deck, which premiered in 2013, and Below Deck Mediterranean, which premiered in 2016.

Promising even more action on the high seas, a new trailer gives us an insight into what we can expect from the show's first ever season.

Get ready for a new Below Deck yacht with a new crew on board (and Chef Adam)! ⛵🌬️ The SERIES PREMIERE of #BelowDeckSailing sets sail February 3! https://bravo.ly/BDSYFB Publiée par Bravo sur  Mercredi 18 décembre 2019

What's different about the new series?

name of below deck yacht

This is the first ever time Below Deck has branched away from motor yachts, and the sailing vessel component of the new series is expected to inject even more drama to the show.

This is partly due to the fact that the design of luxury sailing yachts leads to far more confined crew areas than we are used to seeing on the original Below Deck.

Although the 180ft Parsfill III is the 59th largest sailing yacht ever build, her interior volumes are much smaller than a motor yacht of the equivalent length. Motor yachts are typically wider, and have more decks- Parsifal III has just three slim decks.

Sailing yachts also heel (lean) from side to side while under sail, creating plenty of problems for the interior team as you can see in the trailer above.

name of below deck yacht

Sailing yachts generally feature smaller galleys, tiny stew stations and cramped crew quarters which are in closer proximity to the guests’ living areas, making it more challenging for the crew to deliver their signature silver service.

Sailing yachts also heel (lean) from side to side while under sail, creating plenty of problems for the interior team, as you can see in the trailer above.

In addition, we can expect to see the deck crew placed in a far more demanding role, with sailing yachts requiring accuracy and skills to manoeuvre safely.

Furthermore, plenty of deck duties take place in the midst of guest areas, so the pressure will be on as the sailors struggle to keep their cool in front of their charter guests.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Cast: New crew and a familiar face

name of below deck yacht

The crew is helmed by the yacht's full-time captain Glenn Shepherd, a keen sailor with 10 years of experience on board Parsifal III. This is unusual for Below Deck, as the full-time crew are usually replaced with a temporary cast during filming.

Long-time Below Deck fans will spot a familar face in the crew; chef Adam Gliick, who made his debut appearance in Below Deck Mediterranean season 2 and is returning for the first season of the new Sailing Yacht series.

name of below deck yacht

There is also a couple onboard, which is common in yachting, but has never been seen before on Below Deck. Ciara Duggan and Paget Berry also work full-time on Parsifal III, but the pair has never worked in the same department before. Berry works as the yacht's first mate, while Duggan will be stepping in as deckhand.

The interior crew is headed up by chief stewardess Jenna MacGillivray. She will need to have a firm hold on her crew and an even firmer hold on her interior, as unsecured items will wreak havoc when the yacht catches wind and heels (leans). She is joined by second stewardess Madison Stalker and third stew Georgia Grobler.

Where was Below Deck Sailing Yacht filmed?

name of below deck yacht

Filming for the new series took place around the Greek island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea. The yacht's homeport for the series was Corfu Yacht Harbour; this is where we can expect to catch our first glimpse of the charter guests as they embark and disembark the yacht.

When will Below Deck Sailing Yacht premiere?

The new Sailing Yacht series premieres Monday, February 3rd at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo TV.

name of below deck yacht

How much does it cost to rent the Below Deck Sailing Yacht?

Parsifal III charters from $195,000 per week plus expenses. This does not include the price of food, drinks, the cost to dock, or fuel costs associated with water toys.
