Csail

Has anyone got one and any input welcomed.

Ooops... my post may be irrelevant. The one I know is a CC and looks totally different than the straight 38.... One of the nearby boats is a Harmony 38 center cockpit. Looks like a proper sea caravan with a large aft cabin and large fore cabin. High freeboard would give nice windage too.... Seem well built. Shallow keel and short mast indicate a sedate cruiser. Only goes out when weather is totally benign; = twice a year. Austrian built and they have no access to the sea... says a lot doesn't it? GL

I dont think you guys are talking about the same harmony.... I think Csail is asking about the Group Poncin yachts built in La Rochelle..... Company was started by the guy who restarted Dufour in the late 90's.... I think they went bust last year...(??) I looked at a earlyish 34 and it left me a bit cold...I thought the interiro was not very nice, with countertops without fiddles... and a stark appearance overall... under winched... nasty looking hull/deck join..... the inboard genoa sheets looked both too short and too inboard to work effectivley..... There were some nice ideas like the toerails, bowsprit... but overall dissapointing. I think in the end they tried to spruce up the interior... but they didnt seem to sell well and as a result I think they will be difficult to shift, as they are not really modern in their style... and I dont think as functional as the big boys (JenBenBav.) Frankly, I wouldnt. But if its cheap enough and you like it....

Bav34

I did a test sail on a Harmony 38 when they first came out. The one I tried was built by Poncin and distributor was based at Hamble Point Marina. IIRC it had 2 cabins and a aft storage locker/ could be quarter berth or workshop. At that time circa 2002? It was a fast cruiser and had done very well in the RTIR. Suggest you look up results. Fairly sure it was an aft cockpit. As I had a Dufour 38 at the time that had been project managed by Poncin and was far better sailing boat that our previous Dufour 36 I was interested but the layout of the boat we test sailed was not suitable for charter market. I was impressed with the way it sailed. I think the confusion is coming in because Portway yacht distributors sold Dufour yachts and a range of CC yachts built in Austria that were called Harmony. I do not believe this range had anything to do with Poncin. I looked at various models at boat shows as I had bought 2 new Dufours from Portway. These Harmony yachts were a good value CC cruising boat. Hope this helps

I don't care if you think that it might be a 'marina caravan'. You don't own it. Plus you have not seen one. We like ours, it sails well and looks good. We have plenty of space and a sensible interior, which is why my daughter was sailing on it aged 3 months and still loves it now. My son has his own cabin and all family happy to go sailing almost every weekend April to October. Spoent all of summer school hols sailing. Can many families say that? Caravan? Don't care what you think! Many cross channel trips BTW. Lots of sailing even in rough weather. You don't mention what yacht you own? I would not think of rubbishing someone elses boat Pete Click to expand...

We had a wonderful day with Fran on his boat. He was very patient, helpful and kind. Perfect day!

Fran was a lovely skipper and well informed and gave us great lunch recommendations on Formentera. This boat is a bit slow and an small but great if only a 2 persons as much more affordable.

We had such an amazing time with Fran. I would highly recommend a trip with him!

Muchisimas gracias Fran! We were 6 people and Fran's boat was perfect for a Formentera day trip. He was very professional but also very pleasant to have on the boat with us, very easy to coordinate and communicate with, his boat is very well taken care of, and he helped coordinate with the Restaurant to get us on land. Great value for your money compared to other options we quoted!

We spent a day of sailing with Fran and visited two spots in Formentera which is a fabulous location. He is a calm guy, who has patience to his customers, and do his best to make up the day for them. The sailboat looks very nice and comfy for a smaller group kike ours with 5 persons. His English is good, so communication is not an issue, but he is not pushing for chitchat if you are not into it. We had fun during the day, would recommend to hire him and his boat! Thanks Fran!

Harmony 42 (2005-2009)

The Harmony 42 is a French production yacht that garnered attention for its innovative features and affordability. Designed by Olivier Poncin, the founder of Harmony Yachts , and built between 2005 and 2009, this sailing boat is a product of meticulous engineering and efficient production methods. The Harmony 42 is a versatile vessel, suitable for both cruising and racing, and offered a range of customisation options for potential buyers.

Performance and Handling:

When it comes to performance, the Harmony 42 doesn’t disappoint. The boat is equipped with a Volvo Penta engine, which can be upgraded from 40hp to 55hp as part of the optional Comfort Pack. This pack also includes a fully-battened mainsail, an extra battery, and a battery charger, among other features. The Harmony 42 is designed for easy and safe handling, with a well-geared and weighted steering system. It performs exceptionally well in varying wind conditions, making it a reliable choice for both novice and experienced sailors.

Interior and Amenities

The Harmony 42 offers a spacious and comfortable interior layout, featuring three cabins, a navigation area, and a large bathroom. The galley is designed for convenience, with a straight-line arrangement that makes meal preparation and serving a breeze. One of the standout features is the 200-litre fridge, which is both huge and cleverly designed for easy access to its contents. The Comfort Pack also added insect screens on the windows, enhancing the overall experience onboard.

Design & Build

Build structure, techniques & materials.

The Harmony 42 had a unique design theme that combines a straight-stemmed hull with medium displacement. This makes it heavier than some of its competitors, which is advantageous for a cruiser. The boat offered three types of keels: a fin/bulb in iron, the same in lead, or a shallow-draught tandem keel. The rigging is also noteworthy; it features long spreaders and good mast support, making it simple, strong, and efficient. The hull construction incorporates a foam-core and Kevlar reinforcement, adding to its durability.

Layup used vacuum infusion in closed moulds.

Specific/Unique Features of the Harmony 42

  • Straight stem
  • Large sheltered cockpit
  • Large fridge

Specs and Layouts

The Harmony 42 came in a single layout version:

Two keel options were offered, a standard longer fin and bulb and a shorter tandem shallow keel. The boat offered a comprehensive list of optional upgrades, allowing buyers to customise it according to their preferences. From sophisticated entertainment systems to advanced electronics

Resale Values

There is currently (Aug 2023) 1 used boat listing for a Harmony 42 on Yachtworld.com, Boats.com, BandofBoats.com and BoatTrader.com with a price ranging from €59,500

Those boats with heavy charter use are at the lower end of the scale; those with very little use and a high specification are able to achieve higher prices due to their better condition and history.

Depreciation Curve

A 2008 model would have cost around €299,000 with all factory fitted options.  This sum, allowing for inflation would now be worth €430,857 or USD $460,847.

BUC Value gives an average valuation for a 2008 model in fair condition for its age as USD $87,600.

A 2008 model on the market today is listed at €59,500.

Depending on the specification of the vessel (the number of factory fitted options and any subsequent upgrades) these figures would suggest the depreciation on a 2008 model of approximately 81% over the last 15 years (Spend adjusted for inflation cf. BUC Value).

Best Crimpers and Strippers for Fixing Marine Electrical Connectors

We like going one size over what is often recommended for smaller boats. The advantages are a.Less stretch. Nylon can be too stretchy, but polyester not stretchy enough. One size over can be a Goldilocks answer. b.Better wear resistance. Because we like using short chain when hand-hauling, we cover the first 10 feet with a webbing chafe guard. This is very cut resistant, because unlike the rope inside, it is floating and not under tension. c. Better grip. ⅜-in. is pretty hard to grab with the wind is up. ½-in. fits our hands better. Boat Test: The Last Sabre 34 Mark II

Roger hewsons racer-cruiser gets high marks for performance..

harmony 34 yacht review

In 1985, after nearly a decade of building its popular Sabre 34, Sabre Yachts significantly revamped the design. The resulting boat-beamier, roomier, faster, and more powerful than the original-is usually referred to as the Sabre 34 Mark II. Despite distinct differences between the two boats, the family resemblance is still obvious. The Mark II, like its predecessor, still hews the performance-cruising line that the South Casco, Maine builder established with the introduction of its very first boat, the Sabre 28, in 1971.

As with all the Sabre models launched before the company ran into financial trouble in the early 1990s, the Mark II was designed by company founder Roger Hewson, a transplanted Canadian engineer who raced International 14s and has been described as a born tinkerer.

Hewsons penchant for lively boats, combined with the detail-oriented Maine craftsmanship, is a chief reason why used Sabres remain so popular among split-personality sailors who enjoy PHRF racing as much as a leisurely summer cruise-something that can’t be said of many boats of the same vintage. Another element that has led to the lasting value of the boat is the strong manufacturer support it enjoyed during its production run. In nearly all of our surveys taken during the mid-1980s through the late 1990s, owners reported exceptional customer service from Sabre dealers and the manufacturer. Even today, the owner of a 25-year-old Sabre will find an active number of owners associations-mostly East Coast-to turn to.

Faced with significant debt problems in 1992, Sabre underwent a major reorganization, and by 1994, the company was revitalized under new ownership. The powerboat business that Hewson started saw a major expansion, and Sabre hired a new house designer, Jim Taylor, who brought in a new generation of sailors to sample his vision of a performance cruiser.

sabre 34

Hewson clearly listened to Sabre 34 (Mark I) owners when he went about designing the Mark II. While much of the attention went into improving creature comforts and creating more space below, and the hull and deck got much needed attention.

In plan view, there is little hint of the International Offshore Rule (IOR) tendencies toward disproportion that were evident in the Mark I. A more U-shaped, broader, flatter stern replaced the originals V-shaped, IOR-hallmark stern.

The fine bow entry is reminiscent of some Sparkman & Stephens designs from this period, as is the long bow overhang that helps keep anchors from clanging against the hull. Like Charlie Morgan, Hewson preferred a stern that followed the angle of the backstay, an eye-pleasing touch that is most apparent on paper.

The sheerline is flat and contemporary, with a low, well-proportioned cabin-top. While many Sabres sport a fashionable blue Awlgrip hull that brings out the teak toerail, a white gelcoat model will offer fewer maintenance hassles over the long run.

Underwater, the boat has a fine entry, with a U-shaped hull that resists pounding better than some faster, flatter-entry boats we see today. The aft sections are also rounder and fuller than many contemporary cruisers, but theres more than enough flat surface area for the boat to achieve double-digit surfing speeds and still be in control.

One of the universal praises for the boat is how well it handles in a breeze-even at the top end of its design limits. The bolt-on, lead-ballast fin keel has an efficient NACA profile, as does the balanced rudder.

Our test boat was a 1992 Sabre 34 Mark II. Hull number 430, the wing-keel boat was the last hull built. It is owned by Alan Pressman, a Sarasota, Fla.-based regional dealer for Sabre. In 12 to 15 knots of wind, the boat required minimal effort to steer-and sailed herself for much of the time.

The keel-stepped mast is a tall, double-spreader, masthead rig (the Mark I had only single spreaders), with a high-aspect mainsail and overlapping jib. The standard jib is a 305-square-foot genoa, which can test the standard 42C primary winches. Although you can’t expect a Sabre to eclipse a comparable J/Boat in a light-air race around the cans (see Sabre 34 in Context), it enjoys a favorable rating in most Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) associations, and will leave many of its contemporaries astern.

The 11,500-pound displacement boat came in three models: the performance-oriented fixed-keel model, which draws 6 feet; the centerboard model, which draws 4 feet with the board up and 7 feet, 8 inches board down; and the wing-keel version, which draws 4 feet, 6 inches.

Interior and Systems

The Mark II featured two interiors, one is an aft-cabin model with a private double to port. Our test boat had the traditional layout: Moving aft from the V-berth, theres a head and shower to port and a hanging locker to starboard. In the main saloon, twin settees face a fold-up dining table. The U-shaped galley is aft to port, across from the navigation station and a double pilot berth.

The boat has a 6-foot, 3-inch headroom throughout most of the interior, and all berths are 6 feet, 4 inches long, even the settees, which will make good seaberths with the addition of lee cloths. Cabin ventilation is good with two hatches and four dorade vents-seagoing essentials that seem to have been forgotten in many contemporary designs.

Although the original brochure calls for two opening ports, the boat we tested had six. Seventy-six gallons of fresh water in two tanks and a 30-gallon holding tank offer adequate range for coastal cruising, but the water and diesel (20 gallons) will likely need to be supplemented for longer cruising. Storage is adequate, and engine access-partially blocked on the portside-is rated as fair to good by most owners we surveyed.

Theres a surfeit of teak trim throughout the boat, and being stick-built-in which the furniture components are built into the hull individually rather than dropped in as a large pre-molded form, as is the norm today-there is more room for owner customization.

The original stove was a two-burner Shipmate alcohol stove; a CNG stove was optional. Since CNG is difficult to source, particularly when sailing in the islands, many owners have made the relatively straightforward conversion to propane. (Sabre ended up replacing the balky Shipmates for many owners without complaint.) Sliding cupboards offer room for plates and canned goods. The icebox is well insulated, although its placement next to the engine room means it needs to work harder than most. A fold-up cutting board adds counter space. It is a tight, but functional galley for a boat of this size.

Standard propulsion is a 27-horsepower Westerbeke (marinized Mitsubishi) with a two-blade propeller. The unprotected offset prop, which exits to port of the rudder at an angle, was cited by a few owners as a concern in areas with lots of lobster traps. Some owners mentioned that they missed the advantage of being able to use prop-wash to maneuver at low speeds.

All through-hulls are bronze and grounded to the keel. The standard electrical system included two 100-amp hour batteries, enough for modest cruising demands. Access to the engine was the number one complaint, particularly the stuffing box, which can only be reached through a cockpit locker. In general, long-time owners rated the overall ease of maintenance on the systems as fair to good.

The Sabre 34s T-shaped cockpit is better suited for daysailing than long-term cruising. There is no place to nap. Crew have enough room to recline against the cabintop, and the helmsmen has a clear view to steer from out of the fray-a positive that comes to light in PHRF racing.

Some single-handers complained that neither the jib sheet nor the mainsail is easily accessible from the helm, but added that an autopilot solved that issue.

The coamings are fairly low, good for leaving and entering the cockpit, and broad enough to sit on in the forward sections. Two catch-all bins, a tray locker (starboard), and a deep seat locker (port), as well as a deep storage area aft, offer adequate space for storing lines and fenders. A high bridgedeck and solid teak hatchboards keep the cockpit dry. There is no molded coaming for a dodger or sprayhood, but many owners have been able to add functional dodgers without too much trouble.

Winch placement is fairly conventional for its day, with halyard winches on the mast. There are two coaming-mounted primaries (Lewmar 42C) for the genoa, a secondary to starboard of the companionway (Lewmar 30C) for the outhaul, and the mainsheet winch to port of the companionway (Lewmar 16C). The jib, mainsheet, and spinnaker halyards on the mast (all Lewmar 16Cs) are served by rope clutches. The 6:1 mainsheet leads to a mid-boom traveller, in front of the cockpit, where it wont interfere with a big bimini top. Most boats have the optional self-tailing primaries; some owners have upgraded to larger primaries-not a bad idea.

Two genoa tracks-one on the rail, one inboard, recessed on the deck-allow for optimal trim on and off the wind. Chainplates are well inboard, allowing tight sheeting angles, even when the sheet is led outside the shrouds. Passage fore and aft is good with teak handholds extending just forward of the mast.

Formidable 10-inch stainless cleats handle dock lines fore and aft, although there are no dedicated mid-ship cleats for spring lines. The anchor locker offers plenty of room for extended cruising. Although our test boat came with a cast fitting to serve two anchors, this is not standard in some early models.

Most boats came equipped with Profurl furling gear, a serviceable product that is now eclipsed by much more reliable equipment. A Profurl boom-furling arrangement was also an option, but this is not something we would recommend.

sabre 34

Performance

At the end of the day, the reason to look at the Sabre 34 is two-fold: quality of construction and performance. We sailed a shoal-draft 34 in 12 to 15 knots true wind on Sarasota Bay, Fla. Most of the windward work was carried out under a partially furled jib (about 100 percent), which kept the boat moving at about 6.3 knots, when hard on the wind. The inefficient sail shape impacted tacking angles, which hovered around 53 degrees, once leeway figured into the equation.

On a beam reach, the boat trotted along at 7 knots with fingertip control, but off the wind (120 to 145 degrees), speed dropped to 5.7 knots-something an asymmetrical spinnaker would fix.

Helm response and balance was superb throughout the sail-even when we deliberately tried to impart some lee helm-and the boats high-aspect rig quickly translated heeling forces into forward acceleration. Every owner in our survey gave the boat high marks for performance.

Under power at just over 2,000 rpm, the boat cruised at 5.6 knots. Engine noise was above average. Vibration was minimal. At higher, less-fuel efficient speeds, the boat cruised at 6 knots, indicating enough reserve power to buck most tidal currents. Handling under power, as mentioned, is average, better than a full-keel boat, but less than a fin-keel boat with the prop center in front of the rudder.

The boat we sailed was an exceptional example of the Sabre 34 Mark II, and few boats will be as clean or have as many of the upgrades that wed recommend for a cruising model-propane stove, twin bow rollers, and upgraded primary winches and traveller. Nevertheless, even a stock Sabre 34 Mark II will be a cut above boats in the same category.

The downside of having a boat that boasts Maine craftsmanship is that it comes with a corresponding price tag. However, the Sabre doesn’t carry the same cache as a Morris or Hinckley, especially once you stray outside the New England and Chesapeake regions. The Sabre market outside of these regions doesn’t seem to agree with owners optimistic pricing.

We would give a well-surveyed Sabre 34 a very good to excellent rating for a couple or a small family looking for a boat that will serve them well in local club races, yet still offer the chance for summer escapes to the islands or further afield, with the proper investment in equipment. It is not without quirks, but the Sabre 34 Mk IIs many positives far outweigh its downsides.

Yacht charter in Embiez · Poncin — Harmony 34 (2006)

  ( 1 review )

Description of Christophe's sailboat

Poncin - harmony 34 | 2 cabins.

Good morning, I offer you the co-navigation rental of my sailboat on the island of Embiez. My Harmony 34 from 2006 is particularly pleasant to navigate. It is a marine sailboat which offers significant comfort, including 2 cabins and 4 beds, an equipped kitchen and a bathroom with WC. The boat is regularly maintained and approved for 6 people, but I prefer to accommodate a maximum of 4 people for coastal trips, thus guaranteeing optimal comfort during navigation. Evenings or nights at anchor are possible if the weather conditions are favorable. I mainly offer day trips or weekend trips, with a navigation program established according to your preferences and the current weather conditions. The boat is moored directly on the island of Embiez, my home port is ideally located between Marseille and the Golden Islands... It is a navigation basin to be discovered both from land and from the bridge of the boat. For more information, I invite you to contact me directly via messaging Click&Boat. See you soon !

Review of Harmony 34 Elegance

Basic specs..

The hull is made of fibreglass. Generally, a hull made of fibreglass requires only a minimum of maintenance during the sailing season.

The boat is equipped with 4+1 berths and 200.0 liter fresh water capacity.

Sailing characteristics

This section covers widely used rules of thumb to describe the sailing characteristics. Please note that even though the calculations are correct, the interpretation of the results might not be valid for extreme boats.

What is Capsize Screening Formula (CSF)?

The capsize screening value for Harmony 34 Elegance is 2.07, indicating that this boat would not be accepted to participate in ocean races.

Harmony 34 Elegance holds one CE certification:

What is Theoretical Maximum Hull Speed?

The theoretical maximal speed of a displacement boat of this length is 7.3 knots. The term "Theoretical Maximum Hull Speed" is widely used even though a boat can sail faster. The term shall be interpreted as above the theoretical speed a great additional power is necessary for a small gain in speed.

The immersion rate is defined as the weight required to sink the boat a certain level. The immersion rate for Harmony 34 Elegance is about 212 kg/cm, alternatively 1188 lbs/inch. Meaning: if you load 212 kg cargo on the boat then it will sink 1 cm. Alternatively, if you load 1188 lbs cargo on the boat it will sink 1 inch.

Sailing statistics

This section is statistical comparison with similar boats of the same category. The basis of the following statistical computations is our unique database with more than 26,000 different boat types and 350,000 data points.

Harmony 42 Review

harmony 34 yacht review

Poetry in motion

This French production yacht offers groundbreaking innovations at an affordable price.

Europe is the epicentre of production yacht building. This is where all the trends, all the innovations are introduced and tested. And the epicentre of the epicentre is France.

When I do my PhD it will be on the history of the French production yacht because the industry has never ceased to break new ground in the affordable yacht market. The French set the tempo that everyone else plays to.

One of the big-name players is Olivier Poncin. Olivier is credited with revamping the Dufour line towards the end of the 20th Century; then, early in the 21st he set up Harmony Yachts. In the process, he built a new factory that uses closed moulds, which are efficient and control emissions. And robots do a lot of the work. The result is tightly-controlled moulding, efficient production and cost savings, the latter reflected in the price of the Harmony 42. It is good value.

Design theme The design theme of the 42 is an interesting combination of features. The hull is straight-stemmed with medium displacement, heavier than some of the competition, which for a cruiser is a good thing. You have a choice of three keels, a fin/bulb in iron, the same thing in lead, or a shallow-draught tandem keel two vertical blades supporting a bulb.

The rig is interesting. The chainplates, which attach the rigging to the hull, are on the hull sides instead of inboard, so the rig gets nice long spreaders and hence good mast support. Because the shrouds run out to the hull sides the headsails cannot extend aft of the mast so they must be short-footed. This limits area and makes them easy to winch.

The diagonal shrouds "the angled ones between the spreaders" are led down to the deck for easy adjustment. So this rig reflects the best of current racing practice and is simple, strong and efficient.

Hull construction is special. The skin has a foam-core and Kevlar reinforcement in the bow and around the keel. The shell is strengthened by a moulded internal structure, which presents a Gelcoat finish to the bilge, attractive and easy to clean.

The options list includes a gennaker or, as on this boat, an asymmetric spinnaker with a sock. When the sail is hoisted it is shrouded in a long sock. To free the sail the mouth of the sock is pulled up. To douse it, the sock is pulled down, snuffing it like flame deprived of oxygen. Then you lower the head of the sail to the deck and put it away.

This is a sensible option, even for cruising because the sail's area offsets the small jib, especially when deep-reaching in light airs. And it can be handled by a small crew.

The boat shown here was fitted with the optional Comfort Pack, which costs $18,461, great value because you get a bigger Volvo Penta (55hp instead of 40hp), fully-battened mainsail with batten cars (the sail slides up and down easily), an extra battery, battery charger, insect screens on the windows and lots more. Cheap for the price.

Below deck The accommodation layout shows three cabins (two aft, the owner's cab forward) with a navigation area and a large bathroom next to the companionway. The only option is for a second, smaller bathroom (the alternative is a desk) in the main cabin forward.

The galley is a straight-line arrangement on the portside, opposite the dinette, good for serving meals but holding on in a seaway could be a problem.

The fridge is huge, 200lt, and clever, a top-loading device that carries its contents in trays so they are easy to recover. Harmony importer Kevin Brandt reckons if you crank up the thermostat the lower contents freeze.

Part of the Comfort pack option is a strong dinette table mounted on two pedestals so that when it is lowered for sleeping it is rigid. The tabletop's central stowage box touches the floor when the table is lowered, adding rigidity. There is full headroom everywhere, and opening ports for ventilation.

On deck The cockpit is arranged with the mainsail traveller on the coachroof and the primary (headsail) winches Lewmar 48s on the coachroof. With these you raise the mainsail halyard, roll out the jib then cam off the lines to free the winches so they can handle the jib sheets.

This set-up keeps the winching activity forward so guests aren't disturbed. The secondary winches, for the spinnaker, are near the helmsman.

Vertical bows are vulnerable to anchor damage, a problem which builders tackle in different ways. Harmony have a nice solution, a metal bowsprit (with two rollers), which should hold the Delta plough clear of the Gelcoat. There is a huge anchor locker and a Lewmar electric windlass.

Sailing In light, shifty air I found it easier to steer from the leeward side, where the headsail tufts are easier to see. The steering is well geared and weighted. We took no performance figures, but it doesn't matter if you have a polar diagram to refer to.

This shows the 42 will give you 6 knots hard on the breeze in 15 knots, and above that wind speed the performance builds quickly, reflecting her modest sail area.

The numbers show a sensible approach for a boat intended mainly for cruising not too much working sail, which makes her easy and safe to handle, but performance boosts from the spinnaker (downwind) and, on this boat, the 55hp diesel for when there's not enough wind.

But Kevin will race a 42, fitted with the optional racing sails (tri-radial Mylar main and jib) and presumably the optional lead keel.

The Harmony 42 is biased towards cruising but, as with almost all the mainstream builders these days, the hull is of sophisticated design and should not be slow. The rig is terrific.

This is a well-priced boat. The standard craft basic but, to my mind, not too basic is $299,000, which is great value. Most people will want more but I like the idea of a low base price and comprehensive options list from which I can make careful choices. I, for one, would not want sophisticated entertainment systems.

Malcolm, one of the owners of this boat, reckons his kids won't come sailing if there's no TV and sound system. Leave the kids behind, I say.

As well as the Comfort Pack mentioned above, you can order more electronics, TV and sound system, a PC system, and much more. On top of the Pack options there is a long list of general options, which includes the spinnaker, teak side decks, bow thruster, folding prop, heaps of stuff. Everything is fitted at the factory.

The boat as we sailed in cost $359,000.

The Harmony 42 is pitched at the charter/cruising end of the market, but Olivier Poncin has made sure the buyer can dial up a specification as sophisticated as he or she wants.

The French invented the modern production yacht 40 years ago and they continue to occupy the high ground.

You wonder where the builders and designers can go in the future as they continue to develop the product. Maybe I should write about it one day ?
