Captain Joshua Ryan Growing up as a 90´s child in the vibrant California East Bay area and Sacramento Valley region, my childhood was filled with the thrill of competitive gymnastics. However, it was during the summertime, away from the gym, that my true passion for boating and water sports blossomed. Spending countless hours at the lake and wakeboarding with my family ignited a lifelong love affair with open waters. While I may have caught the sailing bug a little later in life than some, it certainly hit me hard and fast. The enchantment of sailing captured my heart during a sailing excursion as part of a cruise in 2018. From that moment on, I sought out numerous sailing trips, including a transformative 7-day charter with Gustavo, my future husband, in the mesmerizing Angra dos Reis region of Brazil - an experience that forever holds a special place in my heart. On a bit of a whim, I visited the Fort Lauderdale boat show in October 2018, ultimately leading to the purchase of Valentina in Marina Del Ray, CA, just five months later. In pursuit of warmer waters and the allure of better and more affordable margaritas, Gustavo and I embarked on a remarkable journey down the Pacific Mexican coast, welcoming the addition of our fur baby, Linda, during our exploration of the Costa Rican volcanoes. Our adventurous spirit then propelled us to transit the Panama Canal and become captivated by the splendor of the San Blas Islands. While we were basking in the beauty of the San Blas, the world was abruptly halted by the arrival of Covid-19. For four months, we found ourselves quarantined in the lush jungles of Puerto Lindo, Panama, tied to a mooring. With perseverance and a touch of good fortune, we obtained special clearance from the coast guard, enabling us to embark on a non-stop seven-day sail to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, a destination with fewer restrictions and better tacos. As Covid-19 protocols began to ease, we resumed our journey, navigating through the waters of Florida, the Bahamas, and twice around the enchanting eastern Caribbean, including memorable stops in Los Roques, Venezuela, and the ABC Islands in 2022. Following our journey through The Thorny Path in early 2023, we decided to make the eastern Caribbean our home and share our passion for sailing by offering extraordinary charters throughout the Leeward and Windward Islands. Come embark on an unforgettable adventure with us aboard Valentina, where we combine our love for sailing, expertise in the travel and hospitality industry, and commitment to creating exceptional experiences. Whether you seek relaxation, thrilling water sports, or immersive cultural encounters, our charters promise to exceed your expectations. Join us on Valentina and discover the true meaning of luxury, freedom, and the joy of sailing in paradise. Gustavo Ryan Originally from a farm town nestled in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, I spent my formative years surrounded by rolling hills, lush forests, freshwater rivers, waterfalls, and abundant greenery. Despite being far from the ocean, my vivid imagination transformed the vast blue sky into a boundless sea of wonder. Later, as a teenager, I embarked on a new chapter by relocating to Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, where I completed high school and entered the realms of customer service and government public welfare projects for three enriching years. In 2008, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey and established an IT support service catering to small businesses within my community. This endeavor not only empowered local entrepreneurs but also fostered a sense of collaboration and growth. Eventually, in 2013, seeking new opportunities, I moved to the United States. Since my arrival in the USA, I have immersed myself in various domains, including the restaurant industry, hospitality, and customer service. Rooted in my unwavering passion for service, I take pride in my keen attention to detail, sincerity, and the Brazilian concept of ´aconchego´ - a warm and cozy atmosphere. My life changed when I met Josh, and we decided to sail the world together. We left our ordinary lives behind to explore the unknown, learning something new every day. Onboard Valentina we had found our new home, but it wasn’t a place, it was an ongoing adventure. As a Brazilian, I naturally possess the gift of gab and relish in the opportunity to connect with our guests, understand their preferences, and unveil the wonders of the Caribbean Islands that have captivated our hearts. I am also delighted to share glimpses of my culture, starting with brewing traditional Cafézinho (classic Brazilian coffee) and baking homemade Pão de Queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) using cherished recipes passed down from my vovó (grandmother). For sundowners, we serve delectable Caipirinhas in an array of delightful tropical flavors. If you´re open to learning, you might even leave with the ability to impress your friends by speaking some Portuguese or mastering a few Samba dance moves. Join us on this remarkable experience as we embrace the essence of hospitality, cultural exchange, and the pursuit of lifelong memories aboard Valentina. Together, let´s sail towards extraordinary horizons. Linda ´Special Pawjects Officer´ (onboard dog) Within one glorious and lucky day my life changed from being an orphan amongst the mountains and coffee plantations of Atenas, Costa Rica to being the most important member of my new family and sailing the world aboard Valentina. I was living in a shelter that a kind woman was running from her small home. There were 16 of us dogs, and 25 cats, which made for a very full house and never enough food! On the day I was adopted, I didn’t even have a proper name yet, but my Papai (daddy) kept calling me “Que Linda, Que Linda”, which I guess means something in Portuguese or Spanish or something… so I shortened it to Linda and now that’s my name. People often ask what kind of dog I am, and to be honest I don’t really know. I suppose I’m the spoiled kind. I hadn’t yet seen the ocean when my dads brought me home to Valentina. The dark smooth reflective flooring off the back of sugar steps looked interesting and I saw another dog there, so I went to investigate. Just as I was reaching my paw down to meet this other pup, I fell through the floor! After my dads fished me out, they explained how water works. Well, now I know better, and now I am a water aficionado. I have honed my swimming skills and beach detective prowess. I am happy to help you chase off those pesky lizards, and I always captivate onlookers with my impressive fishing talents. I have even caught a few. I love treats, nice people, kids of all ages, and all other dogs- big and small. I try to make friends with cats too, but they are a little mean and kind of scare me sometimes. I am privileged to have collected more passport stamps in my four short years on this earth than most humans do in an entire lifetime. Since leaving Costa Rica I have been everywhere with my dads on Valentina. My dads say that I was originally supposed to help with security onboard, but I just want to play and be everyone’s friend, or just take a nap. That doesn’t stop me from being effective, however. Upon seeing me onboard most local islanders think twice before approaching our floating sanctuary. This helps discourage those with less than pure intentions, and I am an excellent judge of character. I can smell intent from a mile away and I am not shy about telling my dads when something smells fishy. As we set sail to explore picturesque beaches and vibrant snorkeling spots, I am eager to share my zest for life and playful spirit with you. Join me aboard Valentina, where the allure of the sea merges with the joy of discovering hidden treasures. Let us embark on a voyage together, where the splendor of the ocean meets the warmth of companionship. Welcome aboard!

Valentina guest reviews, july/august 2024.
´Gustavo could have a career in Paris as a chef!´ Everything went marvelously well. Josh and Gustavo are a great crew - the food was also very sophisticated (Gustavo could have a career in Paris as a chef!). We really enjoyed our time ontheValentina! -David Syed & Dina Ding
´Valentina´s crew is the biggest selling point!´ The charter was last minute, and in the Grenadines, the area was recently hit by a hurricane. It was difficult to know how well it could go and how the crew could organize all that was needed for the guests. Josh was excellent in communication from the start, and all questions were answered immediately. The client had his own complications with travel, but Josh even managed to help with that by finding the most suitable route for the guests. Everything exceeded our expectations. The team was prompt, easy to work with, knowledgeable, professional, accessible, and accommodating, and more! Very professional and easygoing with plenty of clear information. Valentina´s crew is the biggest selling point! Excellent team! The client thought the charter went incredibly well and loved all of it! They particularly praised Gustavo´s food. I am full of praise for the team and look forward to meeting them again soon. -Sasha King, High Point Yachting
´I look forward to many more bookings on VALENTINA!´ Valentina and Retrosail were wonderful to work with and exceptionally communicative and completely respectful of the broker - client relationship. They were very knowledgeable and dedicated to making the booking process flawless and assuring a successful charter. VALENTINA is a beautiful yacht that is impeccably well maintained and has both great guest accommodations and a generous water-sports inventory. Details are accurate and the beautiful photos depict the show perfectly! Initially the clients chose VALENTINA because of the location that worked with flights available from their closest airport, and desire to not have an overnight on either end. They were delighted with the bonus of included flights and all the pre-charter attentiveness from Josh and Gustavo. They are so knowledgeable about flights and were amazing with flight bookings which was a wonderful bonus for the clients and me as their broker. My clients were so happy and texted during their charter to share their experience on VALENTINA. The whole family loved the yacht and Josh & Gustavo! Communication was seamless and between broker and crew the guests were very happy with all the care and attention they received! From the cute video of the suggested charter itinerary to the beautiful photographs they sent me over the week and at the end of the charter. I felt I was enjoying the charter along with my clients :) Josh and Gustavo were just delightful to work with, and I look forward to many more bookings on VALENTINA! -Karen Kelly Shea, Nicholson Yachts
´It was amazing again!´ We spent another extra ´long weekend´ aboard Valentina and it was amazing again! We started in St Martin where we enjoyed custom cocktails and deliciously creative snacks while we settled into our cabins and navigated through the lagoon. Once out we had a wonderfully easy sail to the stunningly gorgeous island of Anguilla, where we anchored and took the tender to the beach to enjoy a lovely sunset. On our return to the yacht, Gustavo made us his native Brazilian shrimp stuffed pumpkin, which was beautifully presented and delicious. The next morning, we chose to take it easy with a late breakfast and some snorkeling, they have the best toys for water fun! Then Josh brought us to visit the nearby Sandy Island by tender where we had some delicious cocktails and lunch on the beach. The rest of our trip continued in a similarly splendid fashion! Valentina is super spacious, and so are the cabins, very clean and nicely decorated. Capt. Josh and Chef Gustavo went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time! They are personable but professional, funny, and attentive. The food was just simply delicious. All of the food! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all snacks. Gustavo really has talent and the way he presents the food is stunning! The whole experience was extremely relaxing, and we had so much fun! The balance between reading a book on deck, water fun, delicious food and cocktails, and adventure was perfect. Our sail back to St Martin was equally relaxing and we reached Marigot Bay at sunset. It was one of the best sunsets we have seen so far! Our experience with Gustavo, Josh, and Linda (the doggie) was pure relaxation and the crew has a wonderful easygoing professionalism. The boat and experience were beautiful, and we can´t wait to come back! -Ana & Lio Linturn
´By far the best we have had.´ Our 11-night sailing yacht charter in St. Martin, St. Bart´s, and Anguilla was incredible! From the moment we boarded, the crew went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable. Captain Josh and Chef Gustavo were professional, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable, guiding us to gorgeous locations we would have never found without them. Valentina is beautiful, with spacious staterooms and a beautiful deck where we enjoyed gourmet meals under the stars. Chef Gustavo´s cuisine was amazing, catering to all our tastes with creativity and flair. Every day was a new adventure and the crew personalized everything to our interests, making every experience special. We have done a total of 9 charters in different parts of the world and this one was by far the best we have had. The trip exceeded all our expectations. Thanks to Josh and Gustavo for their dedication and for ensuring we had the best time possible. We can´t wait to come back and sail with Valentina again! -The Peñas
´A top vacation to remember.´ Josh and Gustavo are amazing. By the end of the week, we truly saw them as part of the family. They created amazing memories for us and this will be a top vacation to remember. It would be impossible to choose even a few things as ´best´. All the water toys, the delicious food, unique cocktails, and Linda. We felt so welcomed immediately. We were in beautiful locations each time. Our favorite stop was The Baths. The boys had a blast climbing around the rocks and through the pools. Best quote ever from my 13-year-old stepson, “I don’t want to go home tomorrow. low key. It doesn’t seem like we have been on here for 5 days. We should have done 2 weeks!” -Katie & Kevin Conard
´ I really hope we sailtogetheragain!´ Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an amazing week of hospitality, laughter, fun and food...oh the food! So many incredible memories made over the past 10 days, I’ve still got the sparkling blue waters twinkling in my minds eye. Missing out togetherness already. I really hope we sailtogetheragain! It’s grey and foggy here on land. We miss the sunshine, turquoise waters and you all, and Linda! Just watching the snowflakes fall we can’t help but reminisce about the amazing time we had aboard Valentina!! Wishing we were in sun soaked waters once again. Safe passage and thank for everything… the list isendless!! -Bryan Boyachuk and Michael Dolan
´An unforgettable experience´ Our time on Valentina was truly unforgettable, thanks to the exceptional attention and care from her crew, Capt. Josh and Chef Gustavo. They ensured our experience was not only safe and comfortable but also enriched with a fun cultural flair. Dining al fresco with the ocean view was wonderful, and we loved the upper deck flybridge and seeing the massive sails go up! Spending time on the trampoline with Linda (special paw officer) was also really special and added a unique and fun touch to our trip. Captain Josh and Gustavo were always accessible and friendly, but they also respected our need for privacy and alone time. They left space to be flexible and spontaneous while still catering to our preferences. The personalized touches and thoughtful take home memorabilia in our cabins showed a lot of attention to detail. The itinerary offered a great mix of onshore excursions and time aboard the yacht. Sailing to St. Barthes and exploring the island was a favorite part of the charter. We loved that there were so many choices for activities so that each person could choose their level of adventure and activity. I loved that there was lots of time to also relax and soak up the sun and sea. The food and drinks were fabulous. We requested a pescatarian diet and were delighted with the fresh fish and seafood, complemented by a bounty of fruits and vegetables from the local farmer´s market. Amazing snacks and cheese boards satisfied our appetite between meals. We LOVED Capt. Josh’s Passion Fruit Caipirinha! We can’t wait to take another charter on Valentina and explore more beautiful destinations in the Caribbean!! Samara & Rebecca
´I can’t wait for my next Valentina adventure.´ I had the incredible opportunity to sail aboard Valentina, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped on board, I was in awe of the sleek design and spaciousness of the vessel. The catamaran offered a level of stability that I had never experienced on a sailboat before. Valentina´s interior was nothing short of luxurious. The spacious cabins were elegantly appointed with comfortable seating, large windows that offered breathtaking views of the ocean, and all the amenities one could ask for. One of the highlights was the expansive deck. Whether I wanted to soak up the sun on the trampolines or relax in the shade under the canopy, there was a perfect spot for every mood. The crew was both knowledgeable and friendly, ensuring that every moment of the journey was enjoyable and safe. They were eager to share their expertise about sailing and the local area, enhancing the overall experience. I can’t wait for my next Valentina adventure! -Erick Cavalli
´Nothing short of exceptional.´ We had the pleasure of experiencing an unforgettable journey with Josh and Gustavo on Valentina. We can’t say nice enough things about our time with them. From start to finish, the service exceeded all expectations, making our trip to St Martin in April an absolute dream. Gustavo and Josh are an incredible team, and their attention to detail truly was amazing. Every part of our charter was expertly planned and coordinated. The yacht was beautiful (and huge), and our meals were top notch every time we sat down to eat. Some of the highlights of our trip were the guided tours they hosted through the city and villages, allowing us to explore the local scene and immerse ourselves in St. Martin’s vibrant carnival culture. Having them as knowledgeable guides enriched the experience in ways I can’t adequately express. And then there is their adorable dog, Linda. She added an extra layer of warmth to our adventure. Linda’s fun and friendly presence on the boat made every moment even more entertaining. Her company was truly a unique and heartwarming touch. Our charter with Valentina was nothing short of exceptional. We have so many unforgettable memories. I wholeheartedly recommend chartering with Josh and Gustavo on Valentina, and I can’t wait to book with them again next year. -Claudia Muniz
´A once in a lifetime adventure.´ Our recent charter experience onboard Valentina was absolutely fabulous. It began with a complete and easy to follow itinerary that guided us seamlessly throughout our journey. Information was provided on how to pack, and what we were about to experience was all detailed in our package, including how to get to and from airports, hotels, taxi’s and then on to the boat. Once on the water it was obvious that the captain and crew had a lot of experience sailing and entertaining guests. The food was delicious, the places we went were breathtaking, and the islands we visited captivating. Meals were presented elegantly and featured custom dishes some with fish caught from the locals that morning. Other nights barbequing off the back of the boat were equally as amazing with the smell driving our appetites to new levels. The boat was beautifully decorated with plenty of room on all 3 levels for guests to be together as well as areas to be alone. When we weren’t sailing or visiting a local island we were in the water floating on a party island watching the sunset, snorkeling around the reefs, swimming alongside turtles and stingrays, paddleboarding or tubing in the Atlantic. There were lots of things to do! This was truly a once in a lifetime adventure. We had a wonderful trip and an experience that will last a lifetime. -John Nitzberg & Keri Lee
´A beautiful dream...´ We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to you both. We are waking up from a beautiful dream, filled with endless beauty. Every minute spent with you was nothing short of incredible. It felt like a magical journey, where we experienced personal growth, learned from one another, and discovered new customs and cultures. The food was delicious and became a central part of our amazing experience. We enjoyed new foods and styles that we do not have the opportunity to try at home and they were all wonderful. We want to extend our deepest thanks to both of you. Without your presence and influence, we would have never been exposed to such wonders. The memories we created together will be valued forever and cherished in our hearts. Thank you, for making each day special and bringing so much joy into our lives. As we return to reality, we will continue to embrace each memory fondly and with appreciation. -Odete & Batista Grignani

Captain Joshua Ryan Growing up as a 90's child in the vibrant California East Bay area and Sacramento Valley region, my childhood was filled with the thrill of competitive gymnastics. From that moment on, I sought out numerous sailing trips, including a transformative 7-day charter with Gustavo, my future husband, in the mesmerizing Angra dos Reis region of Brazil—an experience that forever holds a special place in my heart. Gustavo Ryan Originally hailing from an untouched farm town nestled in the picturesque state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, I spent my formative years surrounded by rolling hills, lush forests, freshwater rivers, waterfalls, and abundant greenery. Despite being far from the ocean, my vivid imagination transformed the vast blue sky into a boundless sea of wonder. Later, as a teenager, I embarked on a new chapter by relocating to Brasilia, the vibrant capital of Brazil, where I completed high school and entered the realms of customer service and government public welfare projects for three enriching years. In 2008, I embarked on an entrepreneurial journey and established an IT support service catering to small businesses within my community. This endeavor not only empowered local entrepreneurs but also fostered a sense of collaboration and growth. Eventually, in 2013, with an unwavering thirst for fresh opportunities and thrilling escapades, I bid farewell to Brazil and set my sights on the United States. Since my arrival in the USA, I have immersed myself in various domains, including the restaurant industry, hospitality, and customer service. Rooted in my unwavering passion for service, I take pride in my keen attention to detail, sincerity, and the Brazilian concept of 'aconchego'—a warm and cozy atmosphere. My life took an extraordinary turn when destiny brought Josh and me together and we embarked on an amazing sailing journey. One day we simply left the ordinary life to sail the world and experience the joy of discovering the unknown, with the faith and courage to learn something new every day. Onboard Valentina we had found our new home, but it wasn’t a place, it was a marvelous ongoing adventure. If you're open to learning, you might even leave with the ability to impress your friends by speaking some Portuguese or mastering a few Samba dance moves. Join us on this remarkable experience as we embrace the essence of hospitality, cultural exchange, and the pursuit of lifelong memories aboard Valentina. Together, let's sail towards extraordinary horizons. Linda "Special Pawjects Officer" (onboard dog) Within one glorious and lucky day my life changed from being an orphan amongst the mountains and coffee plantations of Atenas, Costa Rica to being the most important member of my new family and sailing the world aboard Valentina. I was living in a shelter that a kind woman was running from her small home. There were 16 of us dogs, and 25 cats, which made for a very full house and never enough food! On the day I was adopted I didn’t even have a proper name yet, but my Papai (daddy) kept calling me “Que Linda, Que Linda”, which I guess means something in Portuguese or Spanish or something… so I shortened it to Linda and now that’s my name.

People well-known in art, sport, film, fashion, valentina zelyaeva, model.
Valentina Zelyaeva is one of the brightest representatives of the classic Slavic beauty on the catwalk. Ralph Lauren’s future favorite model was born on October 11, 1982, in Siberian city Ulan-Ude into a military family. Pretty Valentina was the second daughter in the family – she has an older sister. From Ulan-Ude, the family moved to Nizhny Novgorod, then to St. Petersburg, and some time later to Moscow. By the way, her modeling career began in Moscow. It happened by accident. An agent, who invited her to Japan, gave Valentina “winning ticket”. At first her family thought it was just a hobby, as Zelyaeva set other goals for herself. Charming girl had worked in Japan for two years and decided to be a professional model. And in 2004 she walked for Cynthia Steffe. Her classic beauty attracted designers and Valya demonstrated clothes of such brands as Barbara Bui, Sonia Rykiel, Calvin Klein, Valentino. Later, in 2005 the number of shows, where she participated, was more than 50 per season! Among them were Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci, Valentino. Beautiful Valentina became popular. Russian model has appeared on the cover of Spanish, Chinese, Greek, and Mexican editions of Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar. In addition, Valentina has been featured in print advertisements for Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren. Moreover, she was invited to be a model for the legendary erotic calendar Pirelli, where another Russian model Eugenia Volodina was shot together with Valentina. The photographer was Patrick Demarchelier. You know, in 2007, Zelyaeva took the 10th place in the list of the highest paid models according to Forbes. Now Valentina is the face of the American designer Ralph Lauren’s fashion house. In advertising of perfume Romance by Ralph Lauren Valentina co-starred with her fiance Luis Borges. “A couple in love is the best advertising” – decided Ralph Lauren, when saw them together. On the controversial issue of banning underweight models from Milan Fashion Week, Zelyaeva said, “I think it’s discrimination. We are skinny, this is our work. There are lots of overweight people working in offices, but I’m not going to say, ‘This girl is fat, she can’t work in an office’.” Now the model lives in New York City, in the prestigious Manhattan. One of her best friends is another Russian top model Natasha Poly . “I usually start my day with a glass of warm water with fresh squeezed lemon juice. For breakfast, I drink a glass of juice. Mostly fruits, vegetables and sometimes fish are on my daily menu. Actually, I do not eat dairy products, except the yogurt and cheese”. “If you are looking for a “super food” that can be used as a moisturizer, hair conditioner, lip balm, natural antibiotic for gum disease and be also edible, you must know – it exists! This is coconut oil”. Her official site: valentinazelyaeva.ru
