Billionaire Clive Palmer has bought a $40million superyacht patriotically named 'Australia'.

The Queensland based mining tycoon has moored the 56m vessel in the Brisbane River with the international crew currently undergoing two weeks quarantine.

The yacht is an upgrade from his previous 35m Sunseeker $8million runabout, the Nancy Jean.

Mr Palmer bought the superyacht (pictured) previously named Bash in December for about $40million

Italian company Benetti created his new yacht in 2012, which has been previously named Bash and Ulysses.

Mr Palmer made the purchase in December after the 12 guest and 12 crew capacity vessel had been on the market since 2019.

The yacht includes two sundecks, an outdoor and indoor bar, a jacuzzi, a VIP suite with bridge deck views, and an owner's suite complete with an office, walk-in wardrobe, and private bathroom.

Mr Palmer - also the chairman of his United Australia Party - enjoys entertaining on his yachts along the Brisbane River, Gold Coast and Hamilton Island.

He's been splurging recently buying several luxury canal-front home on the Gold Coast and a $20million Sovereign Island mega-mansion.

As well as his mining businesses he owns a number of luxury golfing resorts along the Queensland Coast.

He is worth about $13billion, according the the Australian Financial Review.

His plans for the next federal election have also taken another step as he called for candidates to stand for his United Australia Party.

Mr Palmer says he has a significant war chest for his next tilt at Canberra, and claims his campaign will outspend the two major parties.

'I am encouraging our members to take the next step in creating a new era in Australian history by nominating to become an endorsed United Australia Party candidate for the 2022 Federal Election,' he said in a statement on Friday.

The UAP is calling for nominations for representatives in all states and territories to run for positions in the House of Representatives and the Senate.

'With a strong field of candidates and our tens of thousands of members behind us, we will do our very best to win the next Federal Election,' Mr Palmer said.

An inexhaustible source of adventure, Australia is the quintessential superyacht destination. Overflowing with iconic destinations that bask in the country’s infectious laid-back style, it is no wonder Australia is an enduring favourite for sport, adventure and natural wonders.

With an eclectic mix of unique experiences, there are memories to be made in Australia that simply cannot be found anywhere else. Escape to a country that in one moment will leave you in awe at its untouched natural beauty, and the next throw you into the very heart of the some of the world’s most exhilarating events. Beaches are more than a spectacular blend of sand and sea in this colourful country; they’re a lifestyle and inhabit every piece of Australia’s coastal character, from the boho fashion of the locals to the delicious seafood cuisine served in waterfront restaurants.

Australia boasts an all-year-round cruising calendar, outstanding tourism experiences and world-renowned refit and maintenance facilities that welcome the global superyacht fleet. For those willing to indulge their inner hedonist, Australia is the ultimate superyacht playground.

Unique experiences, all-year-round

Summer and Winter cruising seasons afford Australia an irresistible outdoor spirit that lasts 365 days a year – rather fortunate given the abundance of experiences that await…

A country surrounded by water, Australia is a superyacht haven. Ranging from unspoilt, secluded stretches of glowing white sands to towel-strewn golden paradises and rough surfing havens, beach-lovers will never be disappointed here. Diversity reigns supreme in this huge island nation, where a cruising itinerary can encompass an amazing range of sights not found anywhere else in the world.

From the stunning coral reefs of Queensland, to the spectacular waterways of New South Wales and the crocodile-filled waterholes of the Northern Territory, Australia is a truly unique yachting experience. The kaleidoscopic colours of the Great Barrier Reef are the pinnacle of any diver’s fantasy. From Port Douglas down to Bundaberg stretches 300,000 square kilometres of coral cays, brimming with marine treasures and exquisite sea life. There is simply no better destination for water-based activities.

Not all of the adventure is concentrated at sea. Step inland and discover Australia’s diverse flora and fauna, along with a rich Aboriginal culture. Stop off to play with kangaroos, koalas and wombats or sample fine wines at one of Australia’s exemplary vineyards. The rugged beauty of The Kimberley and Tropical North Queensland presents the opportunity to learn something new. Immerse yourself in 50,000-year-old Aboriginal rock art, brush up on your bush tucker skills or get an awe-inspiring perspective of it all from the sky.

For those who can’t stay too long away from the hustle and bustle of a city, world-class marina facilities in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne can take you right back into the action. Sydney is perfect for a long weekend of luxury comforts, fine dining, and high-end shopping. New Year’s Eve onboard a superyacht with the backdrop of Sydney’s Opera House and Harbour Bridge is certainly one for every owner’s bucket list. Head down to Melbourne, the events capital, for some of the world’s best events. From the Harbour, you are a short tender cruise from the major sporting events held throughout the year, including the Grand Prix, Melbourne Cup and Australian Open. Alternatively, a short walk down the newly renovated dockside will bring you to the Marvel Stadium, where leading artists flock to perform.

Indulge in infinite luxury

No matter where in the country your itinerary may take you, Australia’s highlife is never far away.

Premium superyacht marinas scattered across the islands lead into luxurious five-star resorts, leaving your yacht in good care while you delve into an authentic barefoot island retreat. Ideal for groups carrying a wide demographic, the Whitsunday Islands offer everything from chic beach glamour to high-octane water sports.

Should you wish to venture into Australia’s richly diverse regions, the Luxury Lodges of Australia will welcome you in sumptuous style. A collection of the finest lodges and camps around Australia, Luxury Lodges offers over 250 individual experiences and activities that connect guests to Australia’s most breath-taking locations, unlocking their curiosity and adventure-seeking spirit. The standards of comfort and service in Australia’s high-end heritage sites are parallel to that of a stay onboard one of the finest superyachts. Whether overlooking the Ningaloo Reef on Australia’s West Coast, staying in the world-renowned Barossa Valley wine region in Southern Australia or dining underneath the iconic Ayers Rock in the World Heritage listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, the Lodges deliver a truly special experience.

If you prefer not to stray too far from the natural playground of the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns and the Whitsunday Islands offer a selection of high-end luxury resorts. Surrounded by a bewitching blend of sublime landscapes, intriguing marine life and infinitely perfect anchorages, the tropical coast marinas offer something for every superyacht party. Superyacht owners have enthused that being able to explore the coastal towns without the need for a security detail has added a special touch to their Australian exploits.

World-class superyacht facilities

Nowhere else in the world can a superyacht sit so detached and isolated yet still be within a short cruise from premier, state-of-the-art shipyard facilities. Australia has a thriving refit and maintenance industry that has benefitted recently from significant investment to cater to larger vessels, meaning no project is too complex.

All along the East Coast there is an array of shipyards that constantly makes sure the South Pacific superyacht fleet is well serviced and pristine. The capabilities available are not to be understated. In Cairns, the world’s largest Mobile Boat Hoist at BSE Maritime Solutions gives the area significant pulling, and lifting, power. The City can accommodate superyachts of up to 140m in length, while highly experienced agents take great care in providing everything needed for a seamless transition from or to life at sea. Cairns itself provides the perfect setting for a superyacht homeport, situated between the Wet Tropics Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, two World Heritage listed natural wonders.

Queensland’s vibrant South East region boasts a similarly impressive offering. The well-established facilities in Brisbane and the Gold Coast have given the green light to significant investments as they prepare for an influx of visiting superyachts. Rivergate Marina & Shipyard has its own prominent international reputation, having completed over 250 superyacht projects since opening in 2006. Rivergate’s positioning on the Brisbane River provides easy access to both the bustling city and the immaculate cruising grounds of Australia and the South Pacific.

The Australia Marine Complex in Henderson, Western Australia is home to Echo Yachts and Silver Yachts, both multi-award-winning superyacht builders with glowing international reputations. The delivery of 84m trimaran White Rabbit by Echo Yachts in 2018 earned worldwide acclaim for reimagining the possibilities of comfort and efficiency onboard a superyacht. Superyacht projects undertaken in Australia not only benefit from the thousands of specialised trades that surround each facility and the historic expertise in aluminium, but also from the significant exchange rate advantage of the Australian Dollar.

New possibilities

With the intimacy of a small island and the might of a first world country, Australia is the South Pacific superyacht hub with a perfect balance to ensure there is never a dull moment. Some of the world’s largest superyachts frequent the sanctuary of Tropical North Queensland’s marinas as a homeport and gateway to the excitement of the South Pacific islands. Hollywood star Will Smith became the first to officially charter a foreign flagged superyacht in Australia following the passage of new legislation in 2019. Since then, interest in superyacht charters has blossomed from the tropical northern areas down to the isolated splendour of Tasmania.

48m Oceanfast motor yacht Big Sky

Charter yacht of the week: 48m Big Sky, a legendary superyacht in the Australian charter fleet

Each week, we place a spotlight on the world’s finest superyachts for charter . This week, BOAT heads to the other side of the world to see the 48-metre Oceanfast motor yacht Big Sky in Australia...

Having been sold in July 2021, Big Sky is a relatively new addition to the charter fleet – and an exciting one at that. At 48-metres, Big Sky represents proper Australian building, having been constructed at Oceanfast , which was responsible for some of the most well-known yachts of the 1980s and 90s.

Jon Bannenberg was passionate about making Oceanfast a success, perhaps inspired by the shipyard’s approach to water jet propulsion and lightweight construction – a recipe that was well suited to the most pioneering designer of this time. Today, Oceanfast yachts including Never Say Never , Antipodean and Lady Arraya continue to illustrate this mesmerising time in Bannenberg’s career, pushing boundaries further than they have ever gone before.

A great reflection of the shipyard's build standard is Big Sky , which was one of the final yachts built at Oceanfast before the shipyard closed its doors for good over 10 years ago. Its pedigree, however, lives on in the form of a special fleet of superyacht – of which Big Sky is the latest.

Key Features

LOA: 48m Builder : Oceanfast Year: 2010 Guests : 12 Cruising : Sydney Harbour, Whitsundays

Designed and built by Oceanfast in 2010, the  48-metre has returned home for her late charter offerings, cruising around Sydney Harbour and the Whitsundays in Australia. Her presence here is interesting, as Big Sky is undoubtedly among one of the finest superyachts available for charter around here. With her well-proportioned, gleaming white hull, it’s not difficult to see why.

Defined by huge windows in the hull, the four-deck superyacht was created to draw the outside in, but the yacht also has a huge amount of exterior space for those who want to soak up the Australian rays. Stepping into the main saloon, the indoor space is bright and neutral, with natural light flooding its way through the windows. This is also where the main interior dining area is, although much of the dining on board will be done al fresco. Pops of colour make their way throughout the yacht via purple, pink and red soft furnishings.

A recent refit focused on the update of Big Sky 's interior spaces, restoring the yacht to her former glory. This included refreshed furniture and new pieces added into the mix. Lounge areas on board are extensive, and guests will find a large sky lounge for relaxing in after dinner.

Out on deck, Big Sky has a large Jacuzzi, which is surrounded by a huge sunbed bar and a U-shaped lounge. Take the staircase all the way down to the vast swim platform where the fun really begins.

Life on board Big Sky

Big Sky provides spacious accommodation for 11 guests in five well-appointed guest suites including a master suite on the main deck, plus three double VIP cabins and one twin guest cabin on the lower deck, featuring contemporary styling throughout. All cabins, of course, have en suite bathrooms.

Big Sky ’s well-stocked toybox is among some of the best on board yachts for charter worldwide. She is set up for several activities on and off the shore, ensuring there is never a dull moment on board. A fleet of Jet Skis, e-foil boards, SeaBobs, and a Flyboard, combined with gear for fishing, snorkelling, wake surfing, water-skiing and kneeboarding will keep guests of all ages entertained. Big Sky also has several child-friendly inflatables, such as a Jungle Joe floating climbing structure and waterslide, as well as a floating Jet Ski dock and blow-up paddleboards.

A beach party set up with assorted games, including a volleyball net, will also help charter guests stretch their sea legs on sandy shores. For further entertainment on board, there’s a top deck Jacuzzi surrounded by sun pads and a bar.

10.36-metre Nortech 340 Sport Centre Console tender 4.8-metre Brig 480 Tender with 100 HP engine Two Yamaha FX Waverunners Inflatable waterslide Jungle Joe inflatable climbing pyramid Dive compressor Diving and snorkeling equipment Lift electric foil boards Wake boards Katana Wakesurf Kneeboard Water-skis Seabobs Blackfin paddleboards Glass-bottom kayaks Space Hopper inflatable jet-ski dock Towable toys Rave Water Boggan Banana Lunar towable chariot “Fiesta Island” tube Fishing equipment Beach games

Where will Big Sky be cruising?

Big Sky is available for charter with The Superyacht People with a weekly rate from $190,000. She will be cruising around Australia's Sydney Harbour, the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef. However, the yacht does have some big and exciting plans for more destinations in the South Pacific.

Making a difference 🔬 The Great Reef Census is back! Ocean Alliance is proud to once again partner with @citizensgbr for The Great Reef Census 5 - mobilising superyachts to support key marine conservation efforts. Citizens of the Reef has been at the forefront of harnessing people-power and technology to conserve the planet`s most important ecosystems, coral reefs. These reefs are the foundation of our ocean`s health. Without them, superyachts would be a mere mode of transport rather than a gateway to adventure. The Great Reef Census one of the world`s largest citizen-led marine science initiatives, expanding survey coverage of the precious Great Barrier Reef. We are thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with the Great Reef Census under our commitment to Yachting for Purpose. The Census provides a unique opportunity for superyachts to play a crucial role in these efforts. We were honoured to work alongside Citizens of the Reef and M/Y BELUGA as the 34.7m expedition yacht became the first superyacht to participate in the Great Reef Census. The yacht subsequently won Yacht of the Year in Boat International`s 2021 Ocean Awards. This effort, across a 200km journey from Lizard Island to Port Douglas, promoted public awareness and involvement in marine conservation, highlighting the potential for luxury yachts to contribute to important scientific research. With this year`s Census being billed the most important yet, we`re encouraging the yacht community to get on board with this epic conservation initiative that provides vital data on where marine managers and scientists can have the most impact on the Reef. Find out more at greatreefcensus.org/marine -- #superyachts #charter #marineresearch #greatreefcensus #citizensofthereef #greatbarrierreef #conservation

THE NEW BENETEAU FIRST 30 - EFFORTLESS JOY OF PLANING FOR EVERYONE

2 people are rescued from a disabled yacht off the Australian coast

Two people have been rescued unharmed Tuesday after spending a night aboard a disabled yacht in the heavy seas off the Australian coast

SYDNEY -- Two people were rescued unharmed Tuesday after spending a night aboard a disabled yacht in heavy seas off the Australian coast.

The 60-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were rescued at 7:30 a.m. from their 19-meter (62-foot) yacht, which was abandoned 300 kilometers (185 miles) east of the New South Wales state coast, Police Chief Inspector Anthony Brazzill said. The pair were expected to reach Sydney aboard a police boat Tuesday night.

The pair had activated their emergency beacon around 1 p.m. Monday, about 185 kilometers (115 miles) east of the New South Wales coastal town of Nowra, police said.

The yacht, “Spirit of Mateship,” had experienced a mechanical failure, lost a rudder, was taking water and was drifting east away from the shore, Brazzill said. With an ocean swell of 5 to 6 meters (16 to 20 feet) and winds of up 110 kilometers (70 miles) per hour, he said, conditions were considered too dangerous to attempt a rescue in the dark.

An air force C-130 Hercules transport plane flew to the yacht and made radio contact with the two people onboard. A police boat and an Australian navy warship reached the yacht early Tuesday.

Brazzill said a winching rescue by military helicopter was considered, but ruled out as too dangerous because of the sea conditions.

The pair were rescued in a small craft launched from the police boat, he said.

Superyacht Sinking Doc Set For ITV & More

Eight international broadcasters are funding The Sinking Of A Superyacht: How Safe Is Your Voyage?  after Silverlinings Rights brought them together. The one-off doc from Emporium Productions explores the events that led to the tragic sinking of the superyacht Bayesian, which killed tech impresario Mike Lynch and six others, and what implications there may be for passengers taking a charter voyage or cruise in the future. The UK’s ITV led the funding, with TV4 (Sweden), DPG (Belgium), TV2 (Denmark), VMTV (Ireland), CNN (Portugal), HOT8 (Israel) and TVNZ (New Zealand) also investing. Discussions with further broadcasters is ongoing and the doc will deliver later this month. “Following our partnership with Silverlining on our previous fast turnaround documentary  Turbulence: How Safe Is Your Flight , which Bethan and the team helped greenlight through bringing in international funding, we are thrilled that they’ve repeated this successful approach, pulling together the financing we need in just five days for  The Sinking Of A Superyacht: How Safe Is Your Voyage? ,” said Emma Read, Founder & Managing Director, Emporium Productions.

Discovery, we’re able to continue producing new seasons of popular, high-quality series such as  Wild Assassins ,” said Shivani Verma, SVP of Sales, Asia Pacific Region for New York-based Big Media. “Thisis not only a high energy, engaging series, but its production values meet the high standards of top services around the world. We were delighted to see Season 1 perform so well throughout Asia Pacific and have every confidence that viewers will be equally excited about Season 2.”

Specialist naval divers called in to search for clues to why Bayesian superyacht sank

Italian navy specialist divers are combing the superyacht on which tycoon Mike Lynch and six others died to try to find out why it sank last month off Sicily.

An investigating magistrate has reportedly asked the Italian navy’s secretive Comsubin unit to search for clues as to what happened , so he can check them against statements given by the crew.

Sicilian magistrates are investigating the yacht’s captain, a British yacht engineer and another British crew member over their role in the sinking of the Bayesian in a storm off Sicily last month.

Neither Mike Lynch nor his daughter, Hannah, survived

Fifteen people, including Mr Lynch’s wife, survived the sinking, and other vessels nearby stayed afloat.

Mr Lynch died alongside  his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, the boat’s chef and four others who were on board the British-flagged yacht, celebrating his acquittal after a decade-long legal battle.

About six divers from the Comsubin unit are combing the 180ft superyacht for electronic equipment, including data storage and CCTV footage, according to The Times .

They are also checking whether doors or hatches were left open, a source close to the investigation told the paper.

Sources close to New Zealander James Cutfield, 51, the captain, told the Italian newspaper  Corriere Della Sera  that is living through the darkest days of his life.

A large-scale search operation by Italy’s fire service was carried out over for five days as they retrieved the seven bodies.

Divers faced debris and furniture that blocked the narrow passageways of the sunken yacht.

But the sinking has puzzled maritime experts , who said a vessel such as the Bayesian, built by high-end yacht manufacturer Perini, should have withstood the storm.

An Italian fire service dive team return to port on the fifth day of the search (Jonathan Brady/PA)

The naval diving specialists from Comsubin, which is the Italian navy equivalent of the British Special Boat Service, have now begun work, supported by a navy minesweeper with a decompression chamber to help in deep-dive operations.

The authorities say the vessel’s owner, Revton, which is controlled by Lynch’s widow Angela Bacares, will fund the operation to raise the yacht.

Revton has employed a Genoa-based diving company, Drafinsub, to use sonar and a submersible robot to study the state of the Bayesian to plan how to raise it.

“With the robot we will video the hull to see how the yacht and its mast are positioned on the sea floor, while the sonar we have on a vessel can map the sea floor and check the position of the anchor and chain,” a Drafinsub official told The Times .

Around 18,000 litres of fuel must be syphoned out of the yacht’s tanks to avoid any spillage and make the vessel lighter to lift.

Then buoyancy balloons may be used or ties could be attached to the yacht to hoist it to the surface.

Twenty-two people were on board the Bayesian superyacht including British technology tycoon Mike Lynch, his wife and 18-year-old daughter, and Morgan Stanley International boss Jonathan Bloomer.

Details have emerged of the 22 people who were on board the superyacht that sank off the coast of Sicily.

The British-flagged vessel named Bayesian was carrying 12 passengers and 10 members of crew when it got into difficulty in the early hours of Monday.

Seven bodies have now been recovered. The other 15 people on board were rescued.

Here's what we know about those who were on the yacht.

British technology tycoon Mike Lynch was among the original six people missing. On Thursday, divers confirmed his body had been recovered.

Raised in Ilford, east London by Irish parents, the 59-year-old made millions with the software company Autonomy he set up in 1996.

He had an estimated net worth of £852m, according to the 2023 Sunday Times Rich List, and is believed to have owned the yacht.

Off the back of Automomy's global success, Mr Lynch was given the roles of science adviser to former prime minister David Cameron and non-executive director of the BBC.

The Cambridge maths and sciences graduate sold the firm for £8.64bn to US giant Hewlett Packard (HP) in 2011.

Dubbed the "British Bill Gates", Mr Lynch has been in the headlines in recent months over a high-profile fraud case related to the sale of Autonomy to HP in 2011.

HP accused him of deliberately overstating the value of the company before it was acquired by the American technology firm. Mr Lynch denied any wrongdoing.

In June, a US jury cleared him of all charges .

Hannah Lynch

Mr Lynch's 18-year-old daughter Hannah Lynch was also on board. A body believed to be that of the teenager was recovered on Friday from the yacht wreckage.

She had been on holiday with her parents, having secured a place to study English at the University of Oxford, according to reports.

Her former school, Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith, west London, said they were "incredibly shocked by the news that Hannah and her father are among those missing in this tragic accident" when the yacht first sank.

Angela Bacares

Mr Lynch's wife Angela Bacares was on board the yacht and was rescued.

The 57-year-old said she and Mr Lynch were awoken by the boat "tilting" at 4am - half an hour before it sank.

Jonathan Bloomer

Jonathan Bloomer, the chairman of investment bank Morgan Stanley International, was confirmed dead on Thursday.

According to the Financial Times, Mr Bloomer appeared as a defence witness for Mr Lynch during his US criminal trial and the pair were good friends. He also chaired Autonomy's audit committee.

The 70-year-old was the chief executive of UK-Hong Kong insurer Prudential until he was ousted by the board in 2005.

He was also chairman of the insurance provider Hiscox.

Judy Bloomer

Mr Bloomer's wife Judy was on the yacht trip with her husband. Divers confirmed they found her body on Thursday.

Mrs Bloomer was a former board member at The Eve Appeal charity, which focuses on gynaecological cancers.

The charity described her as a "brilliant champion for women's health and medical research... an incredible supporter, committee member, and trustee of our charity for over 20 years".

He was Canadian-Antiguan and part of the crew of the Bayesian.

His body was the first to be recovered from the wreckage.

Chris Morvillo

US lawyer Chris Morvillo was among those divers found dead on Thursday.

The father-of-two worked on Mr Lynch's US fraud trial and was a partner of law firm Clifford Chance's US branch.

Mr Morvillo was assistant attorney for the Southern District of New York between 1995 and 2005 and worked on the terrorist investigation into the 9/11 attacks.

In a recent LinkedIn post, he thanked the legal team that helped win Mr Lynch's trial.

Signing off the post, he said: "And, finally, a huge thank you to my patient and incredible wife, Neda Morvillo, and my two strong, brilliant, and beautiful daughters, Sabrina Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo.

"None of this would have been possible without your love and support. I am so glad to be home. And they all lived happily ever after…."

Neda Morvillo

Mr Morvillo's wife Neda died in the disaster alongside her husband.

The 57-year-old had a luxury jewellery brand, which she ran under her maiden name Neda Nassiri.

Ayla Ronald, a senior associate at Clifford Chance, survived the yacht disaster, the law firm confirmed.

The 36-year-old worked alongside Chris Morvillo in helping defend Mike Lynch in court.

Clifford Chance said in a statement: "Our utmost priority is providing support to the family as well as our colleague Ayla Ronald, who together with her partner, thankfully survived the incident."

She is originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, but lives in London, her father told local media there.

He said she was left "very shaken" but "she and her partner are alive".

Charlotte Golunski

Charlotte Golunski

Charlotte Golunski was on board the yacht and was rescued along with her one-year-old daughter, Sofia.

She spoke to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, confirming she survived the yacht sinking and told how she kept her daughter alive after she was rescued.

"I held her afloat with all my strength, my arms stretched upwards to keep her from drowning," she said.

"It was all dark. In the water I couldn't keep my eyes open. I screamed for help but all I could hear around me was the screams of others."

The 35-year-old is a partner at one of Mr Lynch's firms - Invoke Capital - and has worked there since 2012, according to her LinkedIn profile.

She also worked at Hewlett Packard, which acquired Autonomy in 2011, for 11 months.

Before that, she studied history at the University of Oxford.

The 51-year-old captain of the yacht spoke to Italian newspaper La Repubblica after he was rescued.

She was pictured going ashore in Porticello on Monday morning and is from South Africa.

Her mother Heidi told Sky News said she was "beyond relieved that my daughter's life was spared by the grace of God".

"It doesn't make it any easier living with the heartache of those who have lost their lives [or are] missing. My very deepest condolences to the chef's family as they formed a great friendship," she said.
