My husband and I are the new owners of a Jeanneau 53 that was listed by Ancasta Barcelona. Starting in April 2025, we plan to sail 7 months out of the year in The Mediterranean and work 5 months here in The Netherlands. A hybrid sabbatical for a few years so to say.The boat was owned by Australians who we never met. Not something we’re used to here in The Netherlands. When we put our Dehler 39SQ up for sale last September, we met the interested parties during viewings (at their request) and we took them for short trial sails. By checking in with me daily and by sending through pictures and video's, he kept us informed on the progress. Last week I hopped over to Greece to go over all the jobs done by Kostas and his team. I had no comments so we made the last payment the day I got back.The seller in Australia isn't able to handover the boat to us so Kostas also took the time to explain all the electronics/equipment to me in detail which I video recorded for later "direction for use" references.We are waiting on some final paperwork after which we hope to launch the boat early August ready for new sailing adventures starting next year. We were looking for our next boat and had decided on a three-cabin flybridge. Ancasta Chichester was advertising a 1999 Princess 460 which looked like it could fit the bill, so we made an appointment to view. A long drive from our home in Essex to Chichester Marina to view the boat proved very fruitful, and after a fault-free sea trial and positive survey, we are now the proud owners of that vessel! We have recently purchased Dentino II from Sam Peters. We initially contacted him through the website asking for more details, photos and videos about the boat. After several months of looking and two failed surveys, I have just completed the purchase of my first boat, a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795. As a newcomer to boating I have to admit my first impression of boat brokers was pretty poor (compared to other industries I deal with) - descriptions were definitely on the optimistic side, boats were untidy, dirty and generally poorly presented. No excuses, just very poor sales and I would be careful who to list my boat with in the future. Then I came across Ancasta (Leo Walters) who shone bright like a beacon. The description of the boat was accurate, minor faults highlighted and extra pictures provided on request. Communications with Ancasta have been excellent, the boat was very well presented for inspection and after sales Ancasta remained interested to ensure my experience was positive. I wouldn't hesitate going to Ancasta for another purchase and if you are thinking of selling a boat, consider using Ancasta, you will get better service and value for money than many other brokers out there. And as a buying customer I would feel confident buying through them so you would be more likely to sell to me!

Internally she is in nice condition, with good upholstery and Mikuni blown air heating. In the present ownership for 14 years, she is for sale now only because of a bereavement.

at £75,000 is a fast, elegant and highly seaworthy cruiser designed by Rob Humphreys and Ed Dubois, built by the quality French manufacturer Henri Wauquiez. Although she has seven berths, she is ideal for two couples, as she has separate heads by the fore and aft cabins. This 1988 example has the optional shallow draught lead bulb keel and an excellent inventory including a silenced diesel genset. Ashore in Hampshire.

Mischief 111 is a ‘yonne’ class bermudan cutter-rigged sloop designed by dr. t. harrison butler in the early 1930s and built by a. w. clemens in old portsmouth, hampshire during 1935. the yacht had several owners over the early years until she was laid-up in a field near worcester for over twenty years until boatbuilder roy aldworth discovered her through the harrison butler association. having previously rebuilt an earlier harrison butler yacht, he couldn’t resist the challenge. thus began a six year thorough rebuild of mischief 111 which, on completion, resulted in the yacht being awarded the 2012 classic boat magazine’s restoration of the year. in 2014, mischief 111 was put up for sale. the current owner saw her and made an offer and, ten years later, he and his wife have enjoyed their ownership of this very special yacht and have not spared any expense in preserving her immaculate condition. mischief iii has a flawless survey conducted in march 2024 and is in mint condition throughout. she has received a spring cosmetic refit each year., looking for something specific.

Shark spotted swimming near tourist ship
The operator of a replica pirate ship has spoken of his surprise after spotting a shark in the water off the coast of Scarborough.
Peter Williams caught the porbeagle shark on camera swimming close to the Hispaniola Pirate Ship as it left the harbour on Tuesday.
Porbeagle sharks are regular visitors to the UK coast and can grow up to 11ft (3.5m) long. According to the Wildlife Trusts, they are one of the closest living relatives of the great white shark and are regularly mistaken for their infamous cousins.
Mr Williams, a former fisherman, said while the number of shark and dolphin sightings were on the rise it was rare to see one so close to the ship, adding "You'd never have seen them 20 years ago."

A crewman collapsed after a fire broke out on a fishing boat in Newlyn Harbour. Emergency services were called to the blaze at around 11.10pm last night (Tuesday, September 10).
The Penlee RNLI Lifeboat crew rushed to the scene as one crewman onboard the 25 metre-long boat managed to escape the fire. However, other members of the crew remained onboard and the lifeboat crew began extinguishing the flames with water hoses.
Firefighters from Penzance , St Just, Hayle and St Ives then arrived at the scene and used further hoses to tackle the fire. Two fireman got onboard the ship with breathing apparatus to search for the remaining crew.
The crewman that had escaped the boat then collapsed and required immediate medical attention. He was administered oxygen until paramedics arrived at the scene.
Thankfully, no one else was found onboard the boat and the fire was eventually extinguished. The lifeboat crews left the scene at around 12.40am this morning (September 11).
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Five appliances from Penzance, St Just, Hayle and St Ives attended a boat fire in Newlyn . The boat measured 25 metres and was well alight on crews arrival.
"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus with a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Once casualty suffering smoke inhalation was left in the care of Ambulance crew.
"Lifeboat, coastguard and police also attended the scene to assist with the incident."

From Captain Lee to Chief Stew Kate, the characters of the Below Deck franchise have caught viewers hook, line and sinker over the past few years.
We’ve had Chef Leon’s endless seasons of beef cheeks, yacht crashes, staff falling overboard, firings, hirings and some very impressive cash tips.
While most real-life “yachties” maintain that the dramas shown on Below Deck does not happen on their yachts, it sure does make for good TV.
Below Deck series finished its 11th season this year, but fans can now tune in to the chaos of Below Deck Mediterranean, which is currently being streamed on Bravo.
So where are all our favourite characters these days?
Here’s what the chefs, stewardesses and deckhands did after their stint at sea.
Captain Lee
While the rest of his crew were often embroiled in bitter spats and romantic feuds, Captain Lee served as the wise voice of reason.
Known for his no-nonsense approach, he was a staple of the Below Deck family across 10 seasons before his departure due to mobility issues following surgery.
Speaking to the Standard , Captain Lee said: “I miss the traveling. I miss the challenges. And there’s certainly no lack of challenges on board, each one unique and different. So, yeah, I do miss it.”
Since leaving Below Deck, the veteran captain has remained in the entertainment world. He’s gone on to front a true crime series, Deadly Waters With Captain Lee, and a pop culture podcast called Salty with Captain Lee.
However, he may still be open to returning to the show should the producers approach him about it.
Boasting a cheeky sense of humor and a distinct British accent, Chef Ben Robinson knew how to cook up a storm during his seasons of Below Deck. He left the show in 2016 but continued to appear on Below Deck Med in a handful of episodes.

Alongside his television stints, Robinson has stuck to what he knows best: cooking. With almost 1 million Instagram followers, he shares cooking videos on social media as he plates up delicious recipes for diners around the world.
According to Us Weekly, he also specialises in weight loss, addiction support and cancer care. Last year he confirmed that he had proposed to his girlfriend of three years, Kiara Cabral.
Kate Chastain
Fiery chief stewardess Kate Chastain spent six seasons on the show before confirming her departure to pursue new projects. She also remained in the entertainment world, initially going on to host a Bravo show called Chat Room and appearing on other talk shows. More recently, she has appeared on The Traitors US season one and two.
But her days of working on a yacht may be over. “These days I prefer being a guest on a yacht,” she wrote on social media this summer.
In 2023, Chastain’s son Sullivan was born and she has shared lots of doting pictures of her family life on social media.
Eddie Lucas
Deckhand-turned-bosun Eddie Lucas initially graced our screens for three eventful seasons before returning for another stint in seasons eight and nine. After the show, he remained at sea and finally gained his captain’s licence as he’d always dreamed he would. These days he operates a tug boat in the US.
“I’m the captain now,” he wrote in 2022.
“After 10 years of hard work, I’m proud to announce I am now captain of a harbor tug in Baltimore Harbor. I am working with a great crew, on a great tug, and I’m excited for 30 more years of harder work. Big thank you to my family, both on and off the water, I wouldn’t be here today without you.”
Ashton Pienaar
Ashton Pienaar was working as a deckhand on Below Deck when he almost died in season six after his foot got caught in a tow line, sending him overboard. He was dragged into the water and saved by the cameraman during the hairy moment, which left the entire crew shaken.
Pienaar now works as a health and fitness coach and has published a memoir called Knots, Lines, and Life, which is about his life at sea.
Hannah Ferrier
Australian chief stewardess Hannah Ferrier is one of the most memorable characters from Below Deck Mediterrenean.
She was forced to leave the show after violating maritime law for holding valium without a prescription, as well as a weed pen.
According to her social media, she is “now helping people realise their dreams of working on yachts” and hosts a podcast called Dear Reality You’re Effed.
In 2020, she gave birth to a daughter, Ava Grace Roberts.
Raquel 'Rocky' Dakota
Rocky was one of the wilder crew members to grace our screens, known for her impressive diving skills, mermaid tail and on-screen romance with Eddie.
“After the show, I went on a big blow-out vacation trip, with no rules and no regulations! I linked up with my hot model girlfriends in Paris and just crushed Europe,” she said after leaving the show.
According to Screen Rant, Rocky stepped back from yachting and television and went on to share many social media posts about her dreamy surfer lifestyle.

New Government Should Guarantee Safe Routes, Humane Policies

Last week, the United Kingdom home secretary convened a summit with ministers, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement bodies to discuss small boat crossings, focused on stopping “smuggling gangs.” This followed the deaths of at least 12 people, including a pregnant woman and six children, attempting to reach the UK by boat, in what is believed to be one of the deadliest incidents in the English Channel this decade.
Around 70 people were reportedly on board the flimsy and overcrowded dinghy, which capsized near the French coast. French authorities said that many who died appeared to be from Eritrea, whose nationals, including schoolchildren , continue to flee serious human rights violations and widespread repression at home as well as conflicts in the region.
The UK government called it a “horrifying and deeply tragic incident,” but then doubled down on dismantling “smuggling gangs” and bolstering border security and said there are no plans to expand safe pathways to the UK. France responded , as Human Rights Watch has documented in the past , by deploying riot police and machines to clear the encampment near Calais, where the people who died at sea were said to have been staying, and forcing some of those remaining in the camps onto buses to the north-east of France.
The new UK government’s focus on law enforcement and border security will not prevent deaths at sea. There is little evidence that restrictive and harmful deterrence policies are effective and may encourage people to attempt ever more dangerous crossings from more hidden points along the French coast.
Instead, the UK and France should ensure robust cooperation on search and rescue for people in distress at sea. As many organisations have consistently called for, the UK government should urgently open more safe routes, including allowing people to claim asylum at the UK’s border in France and ensuring reunification with family members in the UK. This should not impact the right of people to seek asylum in the UK through irregular means and migrants should not be penalised for doing so, as guaranteed by the 1951 Refugee Convention, to which the UK is party.
This is a key moment for the new Labour government to develop humane asylum and border policies, including by repealing the Nationality and Borders Act and Illegal Migration Act, prioritising search and rescue, and opening safe pathways to save lives.
