The only rules were that they couldn’t pick one of their own and they had to be luxury superyachts over 30 metres. With the votes counted, we can now reveal our definitive rundown of the most beautiful yachts in the world.

James Roy, managing director of BMT Nigel Gee believes her to be one of the most beautiful superyachts in the world and writes:

“One of the earlier breed of superyachts Limitless is in my opinion from a period when the volume of superstructures were not over imposing producing a well balanced yacht. These proportions coupled with the sheer line and well matched angles of bow profile and rake of superstructure ends all work together.”

8. Alfa Nero

“When we first saw Alfa Nero we were impressed by her smooth exterior lines,” say Mareid Moosbrugger and Georg Decker of Egg and Dart Design. “The superstructure is sleek and elegant without any angular or hard corners. We consider her to be one of the most beautiful yachts afloat today, and we can easily understand why our colleagues agree.

“Walking around her at the 2007 Monaco Yacht Show , we felt the three-dimensional use of space was harmonious with the elements, and there was a true balance between the inside and outside areas of the yacht, with the exterior spaces maintaining a close connection with the natural environment of the sea and sky.

“The decks are open and airy, yet there is a feeling of being safely cocooned, and the superb aft deck in particular maintains a feeling of being at one with the ocean, which is emphasised by the huge pool. The yacht impressed us as a gentle giant: on the one hand huge, voluminous and technically advanced; on the other, stylish, glossy and surprisingly cosy.

“The beautiful interior features a timeless but modern design with elements of Art Deco, and everywhere you can see that the smallest details have been attended to. This yacht is a perfect combination of design, functionality and vision, and offers a unique ambience.”

Designer Reymond Langton says: “At the time of her creation, she was the largest yacht that we had signed and would be the largest the yard had built. The client is a very experienced yacht owner and for him to have put his trust in us when we had nothing of our own in the water at the time was a massive vote of confidence.

“He allowed us to be a little experimental with the design – this was the first large yacht with a plumb bow. It was fantastic to have landed another contract where we were able to design the exterior and interior as it gave us much more control over the whole project, and gave us the scope to really harmonise the spaces.

“It also allowed us to work hand in hand together, which we thoroughly enjoy and believe delivers the best results for the client. We think she stands out because she has a very striking profile that is easily recognisable from a distance.

“She has a lot of presence on the water due to her powerful lines. Anyone who has been on board will tell you that the high-volume interior feels incredibly luxurious.”

6. Carinthia VII

The Austrian supermarket heiress Heidi Horten replaced Carinthia VI (see below) with this very secret yacht rumoured to run at 26 knots. Voting her as his most beautiful yacht, Rupert Mann of Rainsford Mann Design said, “97m is a good length for a designer to work with, as it gives an opportunity to design longitudinally not vertically and therefore create an elegant yacht which appears low and sleek.

“What makes the design of Carinthia VII so successful is the enhancement of this due to the pure and elegant sheer line that draws your eye from the bow to stern so effortlessly. The clever trick of dropping the sheer line one deck down aft, gives it a dynamic and purposeful bow shape forward, as if carving its path with consummate ease.

The horizontal lines of the super structure are equally uncomplicated, in this instance resisting the addition of unnecessary detail such as fashion plates that often complicate a design. Ultimately I think the strength of the design manifests through its simplicity. It is the most successful of designs, which can be called a ‘timeless classic’.

“A design that will be successful in every genre modern or classic and in every decade, that even 7 years later still is relevant and pleasing to the eye. I would suspect it is this timeless styling and the sheer simplicity, coupled with the poise and balance of the whole composition, that is so appealing to so many of us.”

5. Maltese Falcon

The designer Ken Freivoch, responsible for the way this beautiful yacht looks says, “We are delighted that our fellow designers should have included Maltese Falcon within their shortlist. She was designed without any attempt to be ostentatious or to conform to a set style – it was very much a case of “form follows function”, albeit with very careful attention to essential design principles, balanced proportions and uncluttered and purposeful shapes totally derived from the function they are designed to perform.

The yacht is significant in her innovative sailing system, and our studio took this as a clue to develop the design around such technology, with every effort to develop beautiful and unique solutions aimed at highlighting her unique rig. I can only surmise that a reason why she may have been selected by designers is that she is not a “trendy” design, but the result of going back to first principles, coming out with original and unique solutions, and achieve continuity of concept through from the external styling to the interior design.

A case in point would be the design of the “spider” feature at the aft deck – originally the result of a last minute request from the naval architects to achieve optimum separation between the bearings at the mizzen mast, the announcement from Gerry Dijkstra came something like: “Hey Ken, if we had to place the top bearing for the aft mast 1m above the deck, in the middle of the aft deck – would that be a problem?

“Can you come up with a way to do this, which Tom will not object to? We took this as a clue to design an elegant and purposeful set of arches or buttresses to shore up the bearing in question, and at the same time underline what a unique “machine” the Falcon is – express such function very much along the lines of a watchmaker showing the inner workings of a beautifully crafted watch. Maltese Falcon was a great challenge, exactly the type of challenge that our design team relishes.

For us, the thrill, the excitement and the ultimate satisfaction is to come up with totally unique, “out-of-the-box” solutions, and achieve a design which the owner can feel was truly conceived and executed in response to his brief, to his preferences and to the very specific requirements set out for the project.”

Espen Oenio was at the time of the design working with Martin Francis and describes the commissioning owner – Mexican media magnate Emilio Azcarraga – as a wonderfully charismatic man. He remembers one meeting in particular early on in the project.

They were at the time sitting on board the owner’s then yacht Lady Azteca (now Achilles ), when he laid out what was to become the mission statement for the whole design process. He told the design team: “I am a very private man. I never spend time in port, I am always cruising. But when I do go into port, I want my presence to be felt through my boat.”

James Roy of BMT Nigel Gee is one designer who voted for Enigma . “It was not until I set eyes on her in the flesh at Cowes Week in 1999 that I really came to appreciate her beauty,” he says.

“The reverse sheer, the sweeping aft deck and those iconic windows – they all meld together to produce a yacht that visually works to perfection and is thoroughly striking even today, 18 years after her launch. It’s very different from anything else that is around.”

Theo Werner of Werner Yacht Design is equally enthusiastic. “When the design of this yacht was first published, I was stunned,” he says. “And when the first photographs appeared in the magazines, I was even more stunned.

“She introduced a new way of thinking that even surpassed the designs of Bannenberg, who I admire very much. Eco included many aspects that are foreign to other ships and yachts, yet Martin Francis managed to combine these with everything that make a ship pretty, such as sleekness, the suggestion of a low freeboard a small superstructure.”

She was subsequently sold to Larry Ellison and is now owned by the British businessman Aidan Barclay and his brother.

3. Endeavour

“Endeavour is one of my favourite yachts for a number of reasons,” Ed Dubois told SuperYacht World . “Firstly, she is a J Class yacht – one of only a few ever built. This class epitomised the very peak of yacht design before World War II and remains still, in technical terms, a class apart. These yachts were extreme in every way and demanded technology that was then in its infancy.

“They were superb yachts to sail upwind, but they were also fast reaching and downwind. They demanded a very high level of sailing skill, and indeed a high level of boatbuilding skill.

“ Endeavour , I believe, is the most beautiful of all the Js built. Her purity of line is exquisite and I think the shape of the sheer is slightly better than any of the others including Velsheda (by the same designer).

“Charles Nicholson designed Endeavour in 1933 and she was used to challenge for the America’s Cup in 1934. It was universally acknowledged that she was faster than the defender Rainbow , and she won the first two races, but better sailing by the Americans allowed them to win overall.

“She has captured the imagination of so many people including, happily, Elizabeth Meyer, who acquired the yacht in the seventies and rebuilt her almost from scratch.

“I believe there is some original plate still present but the hull was rebuilt in the UK and then taken to Royal Huisman Shipyard to be fitted out. The interior, by John Munford, is beautiful – obviously not what was fitted originally when she was a pure racing yacht, but Munford created something that is entirely fitting.

“Endeavour is not a practical yacht to own. She can only be sailed in reasonable conditions, she requires a large crew to race her, most of whom by necessity must sleep ashore, and maintaining a yacht of this type, particularly with regard to sails, rigging, etc is not inexpensive. However, for sheer sailing performance, romantic appeal and beauty I believe she is second to none.”

Year: 1934 – LOA: 39.6m – Builder: Camper & Nicholson – Exterior: C & N – Interior: C & N

Designer Tim Heywood says: “When a client gives you carte blanche to create a design, it is a blessing and a curse, if you do not rise to the challenge, you will not gain the approval of your client or, eventually, the respect of your peers.

“ Pelorus was a great project for us and we are extremely pleased with the end result, as was the client. I was able to develop the internal general arrangement plan, the external global styling themes and the practical engineering details to a level I had not achieved before.

The organic curves & forms of the superstructure are echoed in the lines of the hull, tying the two forms together, to produce a harmony that is easy on the eye, was quite unique at the time and, hopefully, will not date.

“The belt line that runs forward from the stern and sweeps down towards the anchor pocket, is inspired by the armour plating of the light cruiser HMS Belfast , which still lives just up stream from our old London studio.

“If I succeeded in creating a yacht that is thought of as attractive, by my brothers in arms of the design world, I am very pleased. Informed comments from professional, talented designers and client, means more than from any other source, especially if they are not negative!

“My partner, Vanessa, came up with our project name, we always give a name to our yachts, rather than a sterile number, and the client liked the name so much that he confirmed Pelorus as the yacht’s eventual name. The yacht has changed hands, but we are very pleased to see that she has retained her original name.”

1. Carinthia VI

Dickie Bannenburg of Bannenburg Designs say: “Famously, and perhaps notoriously, Carinthia VI owes her existence to the fact that her elder sibling Carinthia V survived for only a few months before ending her days several fathoms down in Greek waters.

:The unfortunate captain struggled ashore to find a phone to have an awkward phone conversation with Helmut Horten, his Owner. Mr Horten rang my father up almost the following day and told him to start work on her replacement which has now become, in an often over used phrase, a yachting icon.

“She certainly wasn’t an icon when she appeared out of the Lürssen shed for the first time. With dramatic superstructure on a slim frigate-based hull, grilles and that distinctive blue windshield forward of the wheelhouse, my father’s design scared the pants off people and the perception of him hardened amongst conventional designers and naval architects as a dangerous radical. But now her pared down lines and slender masculinity scream good taste, restraint and a sense of suave style that is rarely seen these days.

“Certainly her interior was purposeful, code for slightly austere, and by today’s standards there was not much interior volume for lavish living, not least due to the presence of three mighty MTU diesels. There are no swoops, no complicated fashion plates and absolutely no ability to walk down steps at the transom to a nice bathing platform.

“But all the better for it. Life on board was, I understand, conducted with a certain Austrian precision and Carinthia ’s elegant and taut exterior, with deep blue paintwork and her gold coachwork stripe cut an unmistakeable dash in the harbours of the Cote d’Azur as she still does today.

“My father was very proud of her. Of course I’m even more proud that his design of almost forty years ago has such an enduring impact.”

In 1954, Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis took Christina O, a former Canadian naval frigate, and turned her into a playground for the rich and famous . John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and many more have since set sail on the Christina O.

The Dilbar:

  • said to be one of the world’s largest boats at 360-feet long and 50-feet high.
  • was built in 2008 and owned by Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov.

With swimming pools, a helipad and enormous multi-layered decks that can host 20 people on each , the Dilbar is the one luxury yacht for Usmanov to cruise around his many private islands. The Al Said houses a concert hall big enough to accommodate a 50-piece orchestra — that’s how big we’re talking. This huge luxury yacht can host up to 70 guests and a crew of 154.

The Al Said:

  • was built by Lürssen Yachts in 2008 .
  • is owned by Qaboos Bin Said Al Said, the Sultan of Orman.
  • can move at up to 22 knots and at the time of her launch was considered the world’s most powerful superyacht.

6. Luxury Motor Yacht A (Market price: $323 million)

Motor Yacht A :

  • is 390-feet-long.
  • is one of the most unusual-looking luxury yachts on the list, but the Russian billionaire, Andrey Melnichenko, certainly likes this style.
  • it’s got a helicopter pad, three pools (one with a glass bottom that sits over the disco hall), a silver-plated staircase and a 30-foot speedboat.

The interior of Motor Yacht A covers:

  • over 24,000 square feet;
  • the master suite a whopping 2,583; and
  • houses a disco hall and six guest suites that can be converted into four large staterooms thanks to the yacht’s moving walls.

But, believe it or not, Motor Yacht A wasn’t quite lavish enough for the Russian billionaire, so he upgraded to something even more enormous, which you’ll discover below. If you’re already a billionaire, you need to own the top of the tops in terms of yachts.

  • has been owned by the Sheikh of Dubai since 2006, but was originally commissioned 10 years earlier as the Golden Star by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei.

Guests aboard the Dubai will find:

  • several jacuzzis.

The decadent interior is full of mosaics and bold colors, while the spacious deck areas create a large social area and lounge, and numerous VIP and guest suites. Here we are. The latest and greatest edition to the superyacht world. Not to be confused with Motor Yacht A, Sailing Yacht A is something of an upgrade for Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko .

Considered the world’s largest sailing yacht :

  • at 468 feet in length and with ship masts nearing 300-feet high.
  • has eight floors and an underwater observation room.
  • can hold a crew of 54 attending just 20 guests.
  • can also reach a maximum speed of 24 miles per hour, even with a steel hull and a teak-finish deck. It’s one serious yacht.

3. Top 3 of the world’s most luxurious yachts: Azzam (Market price: $650 million)

  • is another superyacht creation by the people of Lürssen Yachts , who claimed it was “the most complex and challenging yacht that has ever been built.”
  • at $650 million and 590-feet long, the Azzam is said to be the largest private yacht in the world.
  • can reach speeds of up to 30 knots and boasts incredibly luxurious interiors designed by French interior decorator Christophe Leoni.

This yacht design has got to be one of the most absurd and unnecessary luxury items we’ve ever seen. But, hey — it’s not our $1.1 billion. As you might have guessed, Streets of Monaco is a floating replica of the city of Monaco. In the picture above you can certainly recognise the capital of the Monegasse.

  • was designed by Yacht Island Design of Derbyshire County in England, and is still waiting to be funded by a billionaire owner.
  • at 500-foot superyacht features the famous Monte Carlo Casino and racetrack, as well as Hotel de Paris, Cafe de Paris, La Rascasse and the Loews Hotel.
  • hosts just seven guest suites onboard, all with private reception rooms, bathrooms, dressing rooms and balconies.

That’s right — the yacht of yet another Russian billionaire. Roman Abramovich is the proud owner of the Eclipse, which was created by Blohm and Voss of Hamburg and measures 536-feet in length.

What the yacht Eclipse has to offer:

  • 70 crew members;
  • two swimming pools;
  • a mini-submarine;
  • several jacuzzis;

Created by a Turkish shipyard named Sirena Yachts, the Sirena 64 yacht is a chic long-range cruising vessel that measures in at 68 feet or 20 meters. Obviously, this isn’t the largest yacht in the world, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, as some customers are simply looking for smaller, more nimble, and lighter yachts for their cruising needs.

The interior layout sketched out by Spadolini Design Studio includes several large living spaces, including the bow with its luxe Jacuzzi, and the flybridge area. As far as accommodations are concerned, Sirena 64 offers two en-suite staterooms for guests, while the owners benefit from their own 258-square-feet master suite, which is complemented by a full-beam bathroom. There’s also an optional cabin for 2 crew members on board, which means that eight people can be accommodated on board this vessel at any given time.

Light and airy, the yacht boasts high-quality light-colored fabrics and furnishings, as well as dark wood floors and ceilings for a touch of contrast. The lower decks benefit from LED illumination, which complements the natural lighting provided by the windows. The flybridge measures 410 square feet, and it was designed with entertainment in mind. There’s also a teak swim platform at sea level, a private dining area, and several sunbeds.

Sirena 64 further benefits from a semi-displacement GRP hull and a pair of CAT C12.9 engines that enable a top speed of 27 knots. The yacht is priced at about $1.6 million, which is definitely not an overwhelming sum in the yachting world.

19. Arcadia Yachts Sherpa.

While fully solar-powered vessels are still a bit far into the future at the time of writing, we’re happy to report that forward-thinking companies such as Arcadia Yachts are taking steps in the right direction. What we have here is the Arcadia Yachts Sherpa, which measures 55-feet in length and is available in various configurations that are designed to suit its owner’s needs to the letter.

The name “Sherpa” is related to the Nepalese people that inhabit the most mountainous region of the Himalayas, and it is a fitting, graceful name if you ask us. The vessel’s versatility is proven by two superstructure configurations, one of which includes an open deck perfectly suited for cargo transport, while the other offers a saloon deck. No matter the choice, Sherpa’s lower deck can include one, two, or three cabins, but we should also mention the galley, bridge, and dining area.

Yes, Arcadia Yachts has decided to implement solar panels into its new creation, panels that harness the power of the sun to animate all of the vessel’s onboard systems. The panels are built-in directly into the superstructure, by the way. Thanks to a selection of lightweight materials, the yacht can reach a respectable cruising speed of 20 knots, while the top speed sits at 25 knots.

The Arcadia Yachts Sherpa is the proud winner of two awards at World Yachts Trophies, namely “Most innovative yacht from 50 to 80 feet” , and “ Boat of the Year in the motor yacht category.”

18. Sanlorenzo SL96 Special Edition Superyacht.

Built specifically for the Chinese market by the renowned Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo, the Sanlorenzo SL96 superyacht is in a league of its own when it comes to comfort, spaciousness, and lavishness. This contemporary masterpiece measures 96 feet in length and was designed by the CEO of Sanlorenzo China Holding himself, Traugott Kaminski.

Flaunting 3 decks in total, the Sanlorenzo SL96 offers a high degree of privacy for its fortunate owners, and that’s because the Chinese prefer to use their superyachts for business endeavors or formal entertaining opportunities. Therefore, the yacht was designed in such a way that it would allow the crewmembers to go about their business without disturbing the owners and their guests in any way.

Speaking of the crew members, it’s worth noting that their accommodations can be found at the front part of the lower deck, and they include 2 cabins for up to 4 members. These cabins feature their own showers and ensuite toilets, which means that the crew would always look respectable and would be ready to provide irreproachable service as needed. As with many other Sanlorenzo superyachts, the SL96 is highly customizable and built specifically according to its owner’s preference. For this particular vessel, Traugott Kaminski designed vast open spaces that are flooded with natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.

The Mangusta Oceano 42 measures 141 feet in length, or just about 42 meters, and its unique three-deck design was envisioned by Maurizio Balducci.

Boasting a full-aluminum displacement, which is a first for this particular company, this yacht is as elegant as it is imposing, and since it is powered by a pair of MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines, it can reach a cruising speed of 11 knots while offering a generous range of 5,000 nm. The top speed is 15 knots, by the way.

All that aside, it’s time to have a look at some of its most important features, including the social U-shape area, the open sunbathing deck space, and the bar. There’s also a beach club and a bridge deck that comes with its own private breakfast area and wind-free zone, which offers perfect opportunities for relaxation. The foredeck is an open space that comprises an infinity pool and a series of large sun pads.

Accommodation-wise, there are two double cabins and two twin cabins for guests, while the owner benefits from his own lavish cabin. For the crew, the Mangusta Oceano 42 offers three twin cabins, and there’s also a separate cabin reserved for the captain.

16. Aria.S Superyacht.

Representing the very first vessel from Arcadia Yachts’ 100 series, the Aria.S superyacht is as luxurious as it is eco-friendly. Usually, yachts need to use up a lot of fuel in order to be able to ensure the comfort of their passengers, to say nothing of the speeds they need to achieve in order to reach their destinations in a timely manner. However, Aria.S actually includes a series of photovoltaic cells on top of its superstructure, which ensures a total output of 5 kW – plenty of power for all of the vessel’s electrical systems and equipment.

The modern and sleek shape of the yacht’s body was sketched out by Arcadia Yachts in collaboration with Francesco Guida Design and the National Physical Laboratory Of England. When it comes to amenities, we should mention the Skydeck with its Arcadia Wheel, and the L-shaped lounging area that offers perfect opportunities for relaxation and fun. The low-profile interior design complemented by sliding doors give off a functional, minimalistic vibe, while the main decor elements include shades of red and gray.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to present more vessels such as this in the near future, as we believe that eco-friendliness should eventually find its way to some of the world’s most important industries, whether we’re talking about yacht building, motorcycles, cars, and even aircraft.

15. Invictus 280SX Yacht.

The highly appreciated SX series from Invictus Yachts has just received a new member. We’re talking about the Invictus 280SX, of course, a beautiful vessel equipped with contemporary technologies and classic comforts. Designed with performance and leisure in mind, the 280SX measures in at  8.70 meters, which is just a bit over 28 feet. Its impressive performance comes courtesy of a 350-horsepower engine, which is able to deliver a top speed of 38 knots. However, while cruising at 21 knots, this little yacht will offer a perfect balance between speed and range.

The back of the vessel houses a swimming platform, while the front area includes a generously-sized cockpit. We say generously-sized because it is large enough for up to six people, which is quite impressive considering the overall length of the boat. At the console area, the owner is treated to an L-shaped sofa, while an auxiliary C-shaped sofa covers the bow.

While the standard configuration should prove adequate for most clients, you can always customize the Invictus 280SX according to your own tastes and preferences.

14. Invictus 370GT Yacht.

We’ve covered quite a few massive yachts here on Luxefeed. However, it’s time to take a closer look at a smaller vessel, but one that’s impressive nonetheless. We’ll give credit where credit is due: Invictus 370GT impressed us with its clean design, outstanding performance, and stylish interiors, but we were most impressed by its ability to meet multiple roles.

To clarify, this yacht saw the limelight for the first time in 2016 at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Even though it works just fine as a luxury vessel for casual cruising, Invictus 370GT can also fill the role of a chase boat or tender for a larger yacht.

Invictus 370GT bears the signature touch of Anna Fendi. As such, it features unique design motifs inspired by leather goods and customized travel cases. Since we’re on the topic of interiors, the owner’s cabin is of particular interest. That’s because this particular space actually resembles a classic travel case. Bespoke tableware and a mirrored forward bulkhead with nickel elements somehow remind us of another one of Fendi’s projects, the Villa Laetitia hotel.

Exterior highlights comprise a reverse bow, ivory caulking, teak decks, and a stunningly beautiful sculpted hull.

13. Q30 Electric Yacht.

What makes the Q30 electric yacht stand out? Most modern-day yachts boast imposing designs that mirror their impressive performance capabilities. However, when it comes to eco-friendliness, they’re not exactly the greenest of the bunch. It’s true that the world’s top yacht makers have equipped their latest creations with eco-friendly features, which help minimize their impact on the environment. Still, nothing truly compares to an actual electric yacht.

The good people over at Q Yachts are introducing their Q30 electric yacht, which boasts complete independence from fossil fuels. It is a sleek, simple-looking vessel with a crisp white design that will still turn a few heads whenever it makes an appearance.

The Q30 features an Ocean Volt system, which is basically an electric motor capable of delivering 20kW of continuous power. The motor is 100% emission-free, and it is incredibly quiet. This improves the owner’s comfort while also making sure that the local fauna remains undisturbed. The motor gets its juice from a 30kWh lithium battery pack, which can be upgraded to a 60kWh pack upon request.

The Q30 electric yacht measures 9.3 meters, and it can reach a top speed of 15 knots. However, its cruising speed is somewhere at around 9 knots. At this speed, the overall range reaches 42 or 80nm depending on the battery pack.

12. Damen SeaXplorer 77 Superyacht.

Superyachts are designed to be impressive from the ground up, whether we’re talking about their exteriors or their interiors. And while it’s true that it’s probably hard to find a dull superyacht in the world, some of them are undoubtedly more amazing than others. The 77-meter Damen SeaXplorer77 is a great example, as everything about it just screams “extravagance.”

It bears the brand of a Dutch shipyard that’s well-known for its quality vessels. The SeaXplorer77 belongs to an anonymous buyer, but one thing is obvious: the client wanted it to be as large as possible. He definitely got his wish from what we see, as this vessel can house not one but two helicopters.

As its name suggests, the Damen SeaXplorer77 is perfect for braving the world’s most unwelcoming waters. It excels in remote areas, and since incorporates two helidecks and two hangars, it provides access to these areas with ease. Rose Damen, commercial director of yachting for the Dutch company, explained:

“It not only has a fully certified helideck for safe landings, but it also has a standby surface for a backup helicopter. Both helicopters can fit in the below-deck hangar, so they’re protected from the elements.”

Just in case you’re curious, these two helicopters will be Airbus ACH125 models. Other noteworthy highlights comprise a dive and submersible center, jet skis, snowmobiles, and a separate ski room. When it comes to accommodations, the vessel is large enough for 12 guests and a crew of 25. It’s not particularly slow either, as it can reach a very respectable cruising speed of 14.5 knots.

11. Riva 110’ Dolcevita Yacht.

Those of you who are familiar with the Ferretti Group will undoubtedly appreciate Riva, one of the group’s brands and one of the world’s best yacht makers. Riva recently launched a very special vessel at the Yacht Club de Monaco. It is one of its larger yachts, and it bears the name Riva 100′ Dolcevita. A lovely title, wouldn’t you agree?

When it comes to power, we’re looking at two MTU 12V 2000 M96L engines. This powertrain ensures enough juice for a top speed of 24 knots. However, if the range is truly important to you, a cruising speed of 22 knots will ensure the best of both worlds when it comes to speed and fuel efficiency.

The unique design of the Riva 110’ Dolcevita is the hard work of the engineering department of the Ferretti Group alongside Officina Italiana Design and the Strategic Product Committee. Inside, there’s enough room for 20 guests, as well as a plethora of high-end conveniences.

Alberto Galassi, CEO of the Ferretti Group, had a few words to say about this splendid 33-meter masterpiece:

“For the largest Riva ship, we have chosen the name of a time that is still endowed with sparkle and charm. The Dolcevita is a truly Italian style indication, the happy combination where good construction and the good life come together. Cruising on this amazing 33-meter yacht is an aesthetic and emotional experience.”

10. Benetti Air Yacht (Benetti Queen M).

One of the most iconic yachts to grace the world’s seas, the Benetti Queen M, has received a complete refit in 2013. The yacht in question was launched back in 1998, and even then, it set new standards in the world of luxury on seas. Measuring in at 50 meters, the superyacht also received a brand new name, which signifies new beginnings and a breath of fresh air. The Benetti Air is now a contemporary charter yacht, which means that you could take it out for a spin provided you had the cash for it. Small enough to brave the waters of bays and anchorages, Benetti Air is also large enough to host large groups in lavish conditions.

The yacht’s improvements include a complete exterior revamp, as well as redesigned interiors. The nautically inspired main saloon is just one of the most noteworthy highlights, but we should also mention the welcoming and luxurious cabins and the full-beam private apartment located on the upper deck. Not everybody can afford a lavish superyacht, that’s true. But maybe, just maybe, not everybody needs one. If you’re more of a watersport fan, you’ll definitely be better off with a sleek and powerful motor yacht. In comes the Wajer 55 S, a dashing vessel created by Dutch shipyard Wajer Yachts.

Powered by a trio of 435-hp Volvo Penta IPS600 engines, this boat’s top speed surpasses 40 knots, which is enough to impress even the most demanding enthusiast. Power aside, the Wajer 55 S is equipped with a plethora of amenities, which is quite impressive for its size. Its outdoor galley, for example, includes a grill, an icemaker, and a refrigerator. Therefore, you’ll definitely be able to enjoy the view and relax after you’ve put those engines through their paces.

Well, it’s a comfortable experience, that’s for sure. That’s all thanks to a set of forward-facing Stidd captain’s seats and a pair of useful Garmin touchscreens. When it comes to finishes, we should mention the hardtop roof, which comes with a set of removable panels. Once removed, the extra space enhances the lounging area, but the panels can also serve as protection from the sun if the need arises.

Overall, the Wajer 55 S motor yacht ticks all the right boxes when it comes to performance and comfort. It’s hard to imagine anyone finding a serious flaw in this particular vessel, and that says a lot!

8. Sunseeker 76 yacht.

We’ve featured our fair share of Sunseeker yachts here at Luxefeed. There’s a good reason for that too. The British yacht builder is one of the most respected in the world, and we definitely enjoy presenting their newest creations, as they’re always in trend when it comes to design and practicality. Sure, a yacht needs to be luxurious, but it also needs to be quick and comfortable.

The Sunseeker 76 yacht ticks all the right boxes, and even though it measures just 76 feet in length, it’s definitely large enough to make you feel like royalty. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more impressive foredeck social area on a 76-foot yacht. Moreover, the back of the flybridge could house a hot tub with ease, but these are just a few of the vessel’s main highlights. This yacht boasts an open-plan main deck, as well as wenge hardwood flooring and silver-oak interior woodwork. Then there’s the chef’s galley, the two large lounging areas, 360-degree windows, and a modern helm station that meets the most demanding requirements when it comes to equipment and performance.

Speaking of performance, the vessel is powered by a pair of 1,550-hp MAN engines that ensure a respectable top speed of 32 knots and a range of 400 nautical miles. 7. Azimut 55 Yacht.

It’s true that it’s not the largest yacht in the world, but Azimut 55 is arguably one of the most impressive vessels of 2018 at the time of writing. That’s because it offers a fantastic mix of high speeds, maneuverability, and lavishness. This small yacht is scheduled to make a debut at Boot Dusseldorf this year.

With a rather large and spacious flybridge, the vessel offers a secondary living area at its rear, which is sheltered from prying eyes. However, the main deck was designed specifically for social activities, which is why it includes a sun lounging area in the bow. Shading is provided by a large bimini top, while the backrest is versatile enough to serve as both a sun lounger and a chaise longue.

Azimut 55 was put together using high-end materials, that’s for sure. These include grey zebrawood and dark oak, bronze, and steel, while a glossy black lacquer adds a final touch of luxuriousness. The main accommodations are located on the lower deck. That’s where we’ll find two double cabins at the bow, as well as a full-beam owner’s cabin with rectangular windows. Performance-wise, Azimut 55 is powered by 800 hp MAN engines, which guarantee a top speed of 31 knots.

6. Elements Motor Yacht.

The living standard for ordinary people nowadays rivals with that of the old Kings. However, the luxury world is constantly evolving, and with it, so is the yachting industry. Nothing spells lavishness quite like an expensive and imposing superyacht. The Elements Motor Yacht is a step ahead of the competition, and you’re about to find out exactly why.

First of all, this vessel measures 262 feet in length, which is about 80 meters. It’s not the largest yacht on the seas by any measure, but it’s large enough to make its owner feel like royalty. Its unique architecture was envisioned by Alfa Marine, and its interior layout is spacious enough for up to 24 guests and a crew of 19. Sketched out by Cristiano Gatto, the interiors are clad with expensive materials such as fine leathers, plush linens, and the finest woods.

The Elements Motor Yacht is animated by a pair of MTU 16V 4000 M63L diesel engines. The engines ensure a top speed of 18 knots, while a pair of stabilizers make sure that everything stays on your plate while the yacht is anchored. Onboard, the owner and his guests will enjoy access to a plethora of conveniences. These include a spa pool, a beach club, a hammam, a cinema, and an elevator that connects the four decks.

5. Dynamiq GTT 115 Superyacht.

Some time ago, we told you about the GTT 115 hybrid yacht project. You know, the one that was designed by Design Studio Studio F. A. Porsche and built by Dynamiq. Well, it looks like this monumental vessel has finally hit the waves, and we’re proud to present the very first official images of it.

As you can see, the yacht meets and surpasses the most excessive requirements in terms of luxury and lavishness. The fine choice of materials for the interior is definitely something that we’d expect from Dynamiq, especially given the Porsche collaboration. Measuring in at 35 meters in length, the GTT 115 will be a part of a limited edition of just 7 units. Therefore, yachting enthusiasts from all over the world will be racing to get their hands on one of these vessels.

It’s definitely worth noting that this particular model includes features that were never seen before in the yachting world. These include the first superyacht on the market infused with the design spirit of Studio F. A. Porsche, the first to blend a top speed of 21 knots speed with Transat range, and the first yacht equipped with two engine rooms in this size category. Moreover, this is the first yacht that can be configured and ordered completely online.

Speaking of which, if you’re interested in owning one, you should know that there’s only one place where you can configure it. Fortunately, all you have to do is visit Dynamiq’s official configurator for the GTT 115. Powered by a duo of MAN diesel engines, the yacht boasts 3,250 horsepower, but we should also mention the 20.8 kW electric motors. These motors might not seem like much, but they can enable a top speed of 6 knots alone, while the diesel engines ensure a 21-knot speed.

Priced at €12,5 million, the Porsche-designed GTT 115 hybrid yacht by Dynamiq is definitely intimidating, but it’s also worth every penny.

4. Gio Chi Thè Superyacht by Codecasa.

The Italian shipyard Codecasa has been around since 1825, but after it unveiled its Vintage Series about six years ago, it started on a true path to greatness. As the years passed, so did the shipyard’s renown, especially since its experts strived to design and create purely exceptional, classic-looking vessels that are as gorgeous as they are expensive.

Codecasa’s Gio Chi Thè Superyacht represents the pinnacle of years of research and development, as it offers an ideal combination of contemporary technologies, an elegant layout, and a traditional look. Some of its most impressive highlights include spacious outdoor areas that provide ideal opportunities for relaxation and entertainment, particularly the sun deck. This area comes with its own Jacuzzi and built-in sun pads, while the Portuguese deck is perfect for socialization and fun.

As far as accommodations are concerned, we’re looking at two double bed cabins and two twin cabins that were outfitted with modern amenities and colorful decor elements that help create a warm, welcoming ambiance. The master suite comes with its own private office, and it distinguishes itself from the other cabins with a luxurious flair.

Power-wise, the Gio Chi Thè superyacht boasts a pair of Caterpillar 3512C that ensure a  top speed of 16.5 knots as far as light displacement conditions are met. The generous cruising range of 4,000 nautical miles can be achieved at 11 knots, though, which is still respectable for a 43-meter (141-foot) vessel.

3. Eco-Friendly Arcadia 85S Yacht.

If you’re looking for a luxurious and eco-friendly yacht, you should definitely check out some of Arcadia Yachts’ offerings. Our suggestion for the day is represented by the Arcadia 85S yacht, which offers a perfect mix of comfort, sleek looks, and eco-friendly technologies.

Keep in mind that we’re not talking about electric propulsion here, as the 85S is powered by two 730-hp MAN diesel engines. Since we’re on the subject, the engines ensure a top speed of 18 knots, while a 12 knot cruising speed is enough to guarantee a range of 850 nautical miles.

Set to be unveiled during the 2017 edition of the Cannes Yacht Festival, this new Arcadia masterpiece is a clear improvement when compared to the original 85 models. Accommodations include a lavish 345-square-feet master suite, a VIP double cabin at the bow, and two twin cabins. There’s also enough space for a two-person jet ski and a 14-foot tender, but we should definitely mention the sky deck, the open-plan saloon, the small winter garden, and the exceptional dining area.

So where’s the eco-friendliness coming from? Well, that part is taken care of by the 400 square feet of electric solar panels, a high-end set of lithium batteries, and a few skylights. The solar panels offer a power output of 3.5 kilowatts, which ensure plenty of juice for the yacht’s systems, including the water pumps, refrigerators, and audio/video equipment.

2. Sanlorenzo SX88 Yacht.

What makes a yacht perfect anyway? Most of them are luxurious and comfortable, and modern ones are able to traverse the oceans without a care in the world, which means that yacht builders need to get creative when they design and build these exquisite vessels nowadays.

Today, we’re going to focus on a fantastic 27-meter motor yacht named Sanlorenzo SX88, which was unveiled for the first time in September during the 2017 Cannes Yachting Festival. Boasting a GRP hull and a carbon fiber superstructure, the vessel comes with exquisite interiors envisioned by an Italian designer named Piero Lissoni. Naturally, the buyer has the final word when it comes to decorations and materials, which means that each Sanlorenzo SX88 is quite unique in its own way. As for the exterior, it was sketched out by Officina Italiana Design, and it involves a semi-displacement hull created with performance in mind.

The best part is that this vessel was built to have very little impact on the environment. Keep in mind that it can reach a top speed of 23 knots, but precise details about the powertrain are vague at the time of writing. Described as a “Copernican revolution,” this masterpiece blends the most important elements of an explorer yacht and a flybridge yacht into a very promising package.

1. Heesen Maia Yacht.

Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts has created a truly monumental superyacht dubbed Maia – a name inspired by a shining star in the Taurus constellation. The vessel in question measures 50 meters or 164 feet in length, and it boasts a full displacement design that will soon amaze yacht lovers from all over the world. The project is still in construction, but its exterior layout envisioned by Clifford Den is almost complete, while the interiors sketched out by Reymond Langton will surely be something to write home about.

Up to ten guests will find exquisite accommodations onboard the Maia, all thanks to its five lavish staterooms, including a sumptuous master suite that’s packed with high-end amenities. The main highlights onboard comprise a beach club with a sauna and a bar, and plenty of space for tenders, just in case the guests are feeling adventurous.

The Heesen Maia yacht is powered by a pair of MTU engines, which ensure a range of 3,800 nm at 12 knots. Often a gateway to Antarctica, Patagonia possesses an unspoilt beauty. Dramatically dubbed Russia’s ‘Land of Ice and Fire,’ the Kamchatka Peninsula lies in eastern Russia and stretches over 740 miles. With glaciers, geysers, snow and over 300 volcanoes, Kamchatka’s landscape is like nowhere else on earth. There is plenty of wildlife to spot, including the Kamchatka brown bear. Start your charter in the peninsula’s capital city, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, which is surrounded by three snow-capped volcanoes. From the pen of the legendary  Ed Dubois , Valquest has a sleek look, helped by its low profile deckhouse.

The all-aluminium sailing yacht has a modern interior, with stunning white leather and mahogany throughout the 40.8-metre (133.7ft) ship.

She was delivered in 2009 by the Dutch yard Bloemsma van Breemen, which also built Lionheart, the first J-Class with an aluminium hull.

One of the few sporty composite sailing superyachts currently on the market, Bliss is a yacht designed to serve two masters – those who have a passion to cruise the world and those who love the thrill of racing.

She was launched in 2010 by Yachting Developments, New Zealand, which was responsible for the refit of the America’s Cup J-Class, Endeavour and for restoring Sir Peter Blake’s first yacht – Bandit.

Another beauty from the design boards of Dubois Naval Architects, Bliss has a characteristic sleek exterior.

The 36.8-metre (120.7ft) Bliss can take up to 10 guests in three cabins.

Shenandoah of Sark – £13.68 million

A must for the true sailing connoisseur, Shenandoah of Sark has to be one of the most unique and desirable yachts in the world.

This classic 1902 three-masted gaff rigged schooner has a rich history and was built to be the ultimate retirement luxury by one of the richest bankers in America, Charles Fahnestock.

She is a true tribute to the bygone age of sail and epitomises beauty, grace, elegance and speed.

The 55-metre (180ft) ship was last refitted in 2009, with traditional and contemporary interior styling by the late Italian architect Gae Aulenti , who was responsible for the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, and Bureau Veritas.

Wood lined rooms, glass skylights and port holes and a wood and brass onboard library certainly add to the ambience on board: think the golden age of yachting.

Shenandoah can accommodate an intimate gathering of up to 10 people, with a luxurious master cabin, along with three double cabins and two additional pullmans.

Endeavour – £15.97 million

A rare chance to own a piece of America’s Cup history , and a yacht often attributed for the resurgence of the J-Class.

When she challenged for the Auld Mug in 1934, Endeavour was one of the most advanced ships of the day.

Built by Camper and Nicholson, the yacht’s owner, Thomas Sopwith utilised his aviation design expertise on her rig and winches, as well as giving her a steel hull and mast.

Although the America’s Cup challenge was unsuccessful, the 39.56-metre (130 ft) Endeavour still made her mark in the racing circuit and won the hearts of many.

Sadly, a series of owners mistreated her and she was left a complete wreck, abandoned in the Solent until she was bought by Elizabeth Meyer in 1984.

Endeavour was completed rebuilt by the Royal Huisman Shipyard in 1989 before undergoing an extensive refit in 2010/11 by Yachting Developments, New Zealand, which included a new deck structure and deck layout and a new rig and sails.

This stunning  yacht can sleep up to eight guests in a master suite, two doubles with en suite facilities and a twin cabin with bunk beds.

Marie – £25.61 million

With her distinct red and black hull, Marie certainly stands out from the crowd.

Reminiscent of a pirate ship (she even has miniature canons on board), there is nothing brusque about her stunning open-plan golden interior.

Large skylights provide plenty of natural light and the high gloss anigre finish gives a warm feel throughout.

This 55-metre (180ft) ketch even has a Steinway baby grand piano – for anyone wanting to relive the luxurious and decadent Great Gatsby lifestyle.

Marie has many elegant design features like the private aft owner’s cockpit and the Art Deco inspired skylight above the oval dining table.

Marie was penned by Dutchman Andre Hoek, who designed the winner of the 2017 America’s Cup Superyacht Yacht Regatta in Bermuda, Lionheart .

Sybaris – £80.29 million

Sleek and sculptured, Sybaris  is the sixth largest private yacht in the world, and everything about her is elegant and impressive.

Launched last year, she was designed by the creators of the iconic Maltese Falcon, Perini Navi, along with the expertise of the award winning designed Philippe Briand.

Her size and scale amaze: Sybaris is powered by 3,000sq m of sail. She also has two Rondal custom produced carbon masts, a retractable keel, and a new captive winch system.

Down below, it is easy to see why she won last year’s Monaco Yacht Show ‘s best interior award.

The Miami-based PH Design has created a spacious and luxurious open plan living space, with a focused use of titanium throughout the yacht.

The lustrous alloy was used for handholds, rails and other fittings. Specialist craftsmen from the F1 world were brought in to help with the construction.

Bespoke furniture and bleached oak joinery gives it a contemporary style, and 12 guests can be comfortably accommodated the six guest cabins. The full-beam owner’s suite includes two bathrooms a dressing area, walk-in wardrobe, an office and lounge.

Outside, a broad, well-protected deck affords private dining and lounging, with a unique 60-foot flybridge offering incredible views under sail.

The 70-meter (230ft)  Sybaris is currently for sale, lying in the Monaco area.

Eos – £116.45 million

A former holder of the largest private sailing yacht in the world title, the custom sail yacht Eos was build by the world famous Lürssen shipyard.

The 92.9 metre (304.89ft) Bermuda rigged schooner belongs to billionaire media mogul Barry Diller and his fashion designer wife, Diane von Fürstenberg.

She was delivered in 2006 and underwent a refit in 2013 following a fire on board.

Eos’ interior has been designed by François Catroux, named by Vanity Fair as the “Über-Rich’s Favorite Interior Designer”.

Known for his symmetrical design, Catroux previously penned the interior design for another Lürssen superyacht – the 316-foot Limitless.

Eos has a clean and contemporary interior, with a use of neutral tones and wood.

She can take up to 16 guests and 21 crew and features a displacement aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Eos has plenty of toys and tenders to keep guests entertained at sea.

Maltese Falcon  – £116.45-£232 million

Chartered by the likes of Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman, the iconic Maltese Falcon has to be one of the most photographed and best known yachts of all time.

The 88-metre (288.7ft) Perini Navi yacht is famed for its revolutionary sailing system – the Falcon Rig – which delivers exceptional performance and speed.

The square rigged DynaRig sail plan is automated. Three self-standing and rotating masts accommodate 15 sails for a total sail area of 2,400sq m. These are controlled by a touch of a button on the ship’s bridge.

Although purists might argue the Maltese Falcon is not a true sailing superyacht, most agree that she is stunning to behold.

Original built for the American capitalist Tom Perkins (he would only ever say that she cost more than $150 million, but less than $300 million), the Maltese Falcon was later sold for $100 million to one of the richest women in the world, billionaire hedge fund founder Elena Ambrosiadou.

Today, she is available for charter, taking up to 12 guests for the most luxurious holiday of their lives: think Jacuzzis, an al fresco cinema, spa, gym, spacious saloon and a crew of 17 to deliver your every want and need.

Sailing Yacht A – £360 million

Sailing Yacht A is the world’s most expensive privately owned sailing superyacht.

Again, while many argue that she is not a true sailing yacht, her size certainly makes her impressive.

The leviathan is a staggering 143-metres (469 ft) long, and has three distinctive mast which are some of the tallest and most highly loaded freestanding composite structures in the world.

Each mast can sustain 90 knots of wind.

The three sails were created in 2016 at Doyle Sailmakers in Salem, Massachusetts, and the tallest mast – 91 metres – even has a small room inside.

Built for the Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko, the sail-assisted superyacht has been designed by Frenchman Philippe Starck, who was behind Melnichenko’s previous superyacht, Motor Yacht A, and Steve Jobs’ superyacht, Venus.

This advanced superyacht has a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and state-of-the-art navigation systems.

The interior is kept a closely guarded secret, although it is believed that Sailing Yacht A has eight floors.

Much has been made of its unique 93-square-foot curved glass observation pod in the vessel’s hull.

Sailing Yacht A was built at Nobiskrug’s shipyard at Kiel, Germany, and features teak, and a steel hull and steel superstructure with high-tech composite fashion plates that can be formed into any shape or size.

Inside, Sailing Yacht can luxuriously accommodate up to 20 guests and a crew of 54.

Top Ten Most Beautiful Classic Yachts.

The biggest. The fastest. The most expensive. That’s all child’s play when it comes to boating. Get the numbers. Put ’em in a table. And then it’s Excel’s job to do the rest. Depressingly, you’d be surprised how much of modern yacht design is ruled by those cruel, simple masters. Ever notice how many boats try merely to be really big, really fast and really pricey? It’s a lot. It’s too many.

But beauty? Pure luxuriant pleasure that somehow emanates out of hulls and sails and engines? Oh boy, that’s trickier stuff. What makes that boat more beautiful than this one? Why do we love rowing up to or stepping on this craft of that? We’ve gotten lucky that people we respect tell us our boats have a bit of prettiness about them. But for pure absolute excellence in yacht design, we go to the same benchmarks as everybody else. And just stand back and wonder. “How did they do it. What great fricken’ boat!”

Here then, is our current list of Top Ten Most Beautiful Classic Yachts from suggestions from our clients, colleagues, and our own notes. We crib from these ideas all the time. And we know you do too. But please let us know how you feel. We left out many a classic yacht.

Designer: Bruce King

Year launched: 2003

Builder: Royal Huisman

Designer Bruce King has been a major influence on us and the entire Spirit of Tradition community. King deserves credit for pioneering the blending of classic yacht design with modern style and amenities. When word spread that we were making this top ten list, Maria Cattiva , the roughly 130-foot long sloop, popped to the top of that list among our clients and colleagues. We get why. She perfectly combines a gracefully sweeping sheer with an elliptical-shaped transom, with just the right heft throughout the hull. She’s a balanced, open platform for ideal sailing hardware, rig and fittings, yet she has restrained deck structures and minimal clutter. Maria Cattiva could have easily deteriorated into a busy bee of mess in the wrong hands. There’s a lot going on on this boat. But King and his design team did the near impossible: They created a complex, muscular yacht that distills down to a delicate elegance that’s almost … fragile.

Designer: William Fife III

Year Built: 1914

Yard: Fife & Sons

Some boats are classics because they just … are. Moonbeam IV is one of yachting’s greats. First built after the First World War, she was the fourth boat designed by William Fife III for Charles Plumptre Johnson, the son of the physician to Queen Victoria. That’s classic pedigree. She makes this list as the reference for much of Fife’s designs. And many conversations we have about design. We understand why:  Moonbeam IV is thin and easily driven through the water, yet stout enough to carry a stormcloud of sail. In person, it’s almost a miracle she stays upright. Moonbeam also exudes a pure, relaxed luxury that balances speed with grace. She features a full dining room table on deck, yet still is a consistent winner on the classic yacht racing circuit. Many are equally in love with this classic beauty. The otherwise incorrigible French sailing superstar Eric Tabarly once wrote that Moonbeam IV was, “The most beautiful yacht ever built.” He is correct. 

Designer: William Reed/ Cäsar Pinnau

Year Built: 1948

Yard: Smith Dock Company

Christina O. started life as the HMCS Stormont , a Canadian anti-sub frigate that saw stout duty in the North Atlantic and the WWII invasions of Normandy. But in 1947, Greek magnate Aristotle Onassis bought her off the scrap heap and retained legendary designer Casar Pinnau to begin a ground-up refit. Decks, sheer, and amenities were all reworked. A pool was added, as were subtle pastels and finishes. This once-warship is now the single-most interesting private yacht conversion afloat. Christina O . presents a daring blend of utilitarian world of war with a unique vision of peace and harmony. Each of the hull lines reinforce or deny the mass of the decks above or below. Christina O. ’s beauty starts with the grit and girth of business-like strength, yet is melded with subtle womanly figure. Her flowing stern is probably the best treatment of open, common space in a ship of this scale. If there’s more elegant smoke stack anywhere on earth, please let us know.

Yard: Lurssen

Power yachts are exciting — runabouts, express cruisers and mammoth uber-yachts alike. It’s just like cars for us: We always want to know, “What’s she got under the hood?” In the case of the 280-foot Pacific , there is not one, but two, roughly 5700-horsepower diesel generators wired to drive twin propellers that also power the gym, spa, elevator, helicopter pad, movie theater, tender garage, Jacuzzi, underwater lights, and, in a new feature, at-anchor stabilizers that keep the boat level even in rough water. The art with Pacific is how underdone all that power is for a superyacht this complex. Unlike the other floating bloat-fests of similarly fitted out mega-boats, Pacific stands out by standing for less . Much less. Note how designer German Frers reduces the density of the overall deck superstructure by keeping it low relative to the hull mass. Frers then suppresses that volume even more by using lyrical horizontal decks, each following its own sheer from stem to stern. This cool interplay of horizontal masses is made even frostier with her ice-blue finish. Pacific is both streamlined and aggressive, depending on your mood. She is an ocean of pure power and performance shrouded in the secret grace of how technology enables a modern yacht.

Yard: Pendennis

We have a thing for Rebecca . And we know you do too: See how her profile, ample beam and full head of sail drive her low through the water? She is kinetic homage to turn-of-the-century sailing clipper ships blast reaching, fully loaded at the peak of the Age of Sail. Designer German Frers echos this classic past with a simple deck house and open classic layout. Richard Henry Dana Jr, author of the 1840 sailing memoir Two Years Before the Mast , would feel perfectly comfortable in Rebecca . And her sense of pure sailing power is softened by unheard of amounts of open, undefined deck space. W ith the right provisions, this girl can surf the world’s winds, stopping only for love and fresh water. A bit of controversy surrounds this boat. Rumor has it t he stem profile was famously (or infamously) designed by her owner. Is it beauty? Or a mistake? True love always makes you ask why.

Year Launched: 2008

Yard: Wally

Saudade is the essence of elegant yachting cool. S he’s not just clean, spare, and sleek, she represents all things modern in yacht design: Aridly reduced lines, ruthlessly open deck layouts, and a sheer that’s so close to dead flat that it vibrates; and n ote how the deck house is sunk in, like a breaking wave, into the sea of its wooden deck. This boat is a direct rejection of the lyrical, sweeping design themes that dominate most craft we like. Yet somehow Saudade features a  beauty built of the simplest of forms. While the traditional standards of sweep and sheer we hold dear may not be present, if you look long enough, the distilled version of what it means to be a beautiful boat emerges before you. The question Saudade asks  is, “What still is beautiful, when everything else has been removed?” You can spend a lifetime answering that one.

Yard: Astilleros

What would the designer’s designer, Argentine genius German Frers, design in a boat for himself and his family? The 73-foot sloop Heroina is the answer. Not too fancy and built quickly with recycled parts, she reflects the mind of a great and ambitious architect who seeks comfort and ease of use. She’s the floating checklist for a modern classic yacht: gobs of relaxed, open-deck volume; large, easy-to-handle wheel; and just enough mass in the boat’s hull to allow for reasonable-sized cabins and state rooms, all without a raised deck house and its attendant complexity. Heroina is a true performer that can be handled by amateurs. She’s sleek and beautiful. Even better, she is done on a sensible budget. That’s design at its classic purest. 

Designer: Arthur Holgate

Year Built: 1984

Do we really to need to explain? Behold this three-masted schooner with looks straight out of the War of 1812, but made in 1984. O f p ure plate steel.  Meaning the sweeping shape and voluptuous form is an engineering and construction tour-de-force.  she is 213 feet long and 30 feet wide, probably the largest classic sailing boat built since the 1930’s. There is so much room on her, in fact, that you can get lost below among the nearly 30 crew and guests that can fit on her. (Note to self: take breadcrumbs.) It’s all here: two deck houses, port decks, advanced venting systems. Adix just goes on and on. She’s the Spirit of Tradition on steroids.

Designer: Yachting Developments

Here’s our sleeper pick from master French designer Phillippe Briand. Usually Briande works in a stark, hyper-modernist idiom bordering on floating brutalism. Lovely, but not our thing. But with Bristolian II , Briand balances a classic race car vibe with traditional yacht influences. And that, we love. The story here is the design brief called for a boat built to a 1950’s Maserati road speedster idiom. The helm stations and cabins are straight out of post-war European road-race designs. Bristolian II is, in a word, “crisp.” Or “croustillant” if you are speaking French.

what would happen if you dropped A Chevy Big Block 496, 400 HP gas engine into A 1950’s muscle car-inspired hull. all made from a single log of Mahogany? Enough wood and spirit to look awesome at 60 miles an hour on the water and 85 miles an hour when getting towed down the highway on its trailer. We love how Don Don balances its just-under-30-foot length with a hefty 8’8” beam that frames and blends its classic heritage and modern dimensions. Just count the ideas designer Michel Berryer blends into this tiny package: a sense of running at blistering speed; the sweeping, art-deco flowing line; AND the luxury details in leather and stainless steel of classic cars. Where’s the wheel? Why, on the left side. Like in a car. Face it: If you’d known as a teenager you could have showed up to the prom in Don Don, you never would have bothered to learn to drive. This Don would have made all your dreams come true.

The Ten Most Amazing Superyacht Interiors

You'll be hard-pushed to find a superyacht with ugly interiors but then again, pinpointing which are the best is a challenging feat in itself. In the world of superyacht interiors, luxury is in abundance and we can really appreciate how designers maximise space and comfort in space-restricted vessels. 

From neutral colour palates to bold, opulent interiors, designers have had their fun over the years creating home-from-homes too beautiful to comprehend. Let's take a closer look at some of the more jaw-dropping yacht interiors that are sure to pique your interest. 

Cristina Gherardi Design carved out a space for everything when penning Savannah . From the cosy home office to the luxurious onboard gym, guest rooms enjoy vast open spaces and tall ceilings while a grand spiral staircase draws each level together. One of our favourite features on board the Feadship superyacht Savannah is the semi-submerged viewing lounge, providing views both above and below water.

Motor Yacht A

One of the world's most famous yachts, Motor Yacht A is the pinnacle of opulence. The 119 metre Blohm + Voss motor yacht is bright and airy on the inside the with light, neutral colours throughout. We're particularly keen on the bedroom Jacuzzi in the owner's suite and the deluxe day beds in the outdoor lounging area.

White Rabbit 

The grand central staircase on 84 metre White Rabbit greets you on arrival, leading guests to a central lobby that splits into two lounges. The interiors boast comfort from the soft carpeting throughout to the raised, squash beds and wrap-around sofas. We're not sure anyone could find a corner on White Rabbit that isn't luxuriously comfortable. Better still, the yacht has a grand circular bar on the main deck and professional-grade home cinema on board.

The winter garden onboard the 106 metre Lürssen superyacht is one to rival the best on land. It's a tranquil orangery complete with water features, marble floors and plenty of indoor plants. Much like the rest of the yacht, it's classy and well-considered, a favourite of ours at BOAT International .

Grand, circular ceiling accents feature heavily in MySky , bringing every social space into one focal point and ultimately bringing everyone seated in each together. The interiors were penned by SilverYachts, creating a contemporary, homely space.

Dragon is like your perfect holiday home, tastefully decorated with sea-inspired materials, designed to make you feel right at home on the water. The 80 metre Palumbo superyacht takes advantage of the pools of natural light, using natural woods to complement the neutral colour palette. It's refined simplicity and we love it.

Which yacht is the best for bluewater boating? This question generates even more debate among sailors than questions about what’s the coolest yacht , or the best for racing. Whereas racing designs are measured against each other, cruising sailors get very limited opportunities to experience different yachts in real oceangoing conditions, so what is the best bluewater sailboat?

Here, we bring you our top choices from decades of designs and launches. Over the years, the Yachting World team has sailed these boats, tested them or judged them for European Yacht of the Year awards, and we have sifted through the many to curate a selection that we believe should be on your wishlist.

Making the right choice may come down to how you foresee your yacht being used after it has crossed an ocean or completed a passage: will you be living at anchor or cruising along the coast? If so, your guiding requirements will be space, cabin size, ease of launching a tender and anchoring closer to shore, and whether it can comfortably accommodate non-expert-sailor guests.

All of these considerations have generated the inexorable rise of the bluewater catamaran – monohulls can’t easily compete on these points. We have a full separate feature on the best bluewater multihulls of all time and here we mostly focus on monohulls. The only exceptions to that rule are two multihulls which made it into our best bluewater sailboats of 2022 list.

As so much of making the right choice is selecting the right boat for the venture in mind, we have separated out our edit into categories: best for comfort; for families; for performance; and for expedition or high latitudes sailing .

Best bluewater sailboats of 2022

The new flagship Allures 51.9, for example, is a no-nonsense adventure cruising design built and finished to a high standard. It retains Allures’ niche of using aluminium hulls with glassfibre decks and superstructures, which, the yard maintains, gives the optimum combination of least maintenance and less weight higher up. Priorities for this design were a full beam aft cabin and a spacious, long cockpit. Both are excellent, with the latter, at 6m long, offering formidable social, sailing and aft deck zones.

It likes some breeze to come to life on the wheel, but I appreciate that it’s designed to take up to five tonnes payload. And I like the ease with which you can change gears using the furling headsails and the positioning of the powerful Andersen winches inboard. The arch is standard and comes with a textile sprayhood or hard bimini.

Below decks you’ll find abundant headroom and natural light, a deep U-shape galley and cavernous stowage. For those who like the layout of the Amel 50 but would prefer aluminium or shoal draught, look no further.

Allures 51.9 price: €766,000

The Ovni 370 is another cunning new aluminum centreboard offering, a true deck saloon cruiser for two. The designers say the biggest challenge was to create a Category A ocean going yacht at this size with a lifting keel, hence the hull had to be very stable.

Enjoyable to helm, it has a practical, deep cockpit behind a large sprayhood, which can link to the bimini on the arch. Many of its most appealing features lie in the bright, light, contemporary, clever, voluminous interior, which has good stowage and tankage allocation. There’s also a practical navstation, a large workroom and a vast separate shower. I particularly like the convertible saloom, which can double as a large secure daybed or pilot berth.

Potentially the least expensive Category A lift keel boat available, the Ovni will get you dreaming of remote places again.

Ovni 370 price: €282,080

There’s no shortage of spirit in the Windelo 50. We gave this a sustainability award after it’s founders spent two years researching environmentally-friendly composite materials, developing an eco-composite of basalt fibre and recycled PET foam so it could build boats that halve the environmental impact of standard glassfibre yachts.

The Windelo 50 is an intriguing package – from the styling, modular interior and novel layout to the solar field on the roof and the standard electric propulsion, it is completely fresh.

Windelo 50 price: €795,000

Best bluewater sailboat of 2022 – Outremer 55

I would argue that this is the most successful new production yacht on the market. Well over 50 have already sold (an equipped model typically costs €1.6m) – and I can understand why. After all, were money no object, I had this design earmarked as the new yacht I would most likely choose for a world trip.

Indeed 55 number one Sanya, was fully equipped for a family’s world cruise, and left during our stay for the Grand Large Odyssey tour. Whereas we sailed Magic Kili, which was tricked up with performance options, including foam-cored deckheads and supports, carbon crossbeam and bulkheads, and synthetic rigging.

At rest, these are enticing space ships. Taking one out to sea is another matter though. These are speed machines with the size, scale and loads to be rightly weary of. Last month Nikki Henderson wrote a feature for us about how to manage a new breed of performance cruising cats just like this and how she coaches new owners. I could not think of wiser money spent for those who do not have ample multihull sailing experience.

Under sail, the most fun was obviously reserved for the reaching leg under asymmetric, where we clocked between 11-16 knots in 15-16 knots wind. But it was the stability and of those sustained low teen speeds which really hit home  – passagemaking where you really cover miles.

Key features include the swing helms, which give you views from outboard, over the coachroof or from a protected position in the cockpit through the coachroof windows, and the vast island in the galley, which is key to an open plan main living area. It helps provide cavernous stowage and acts as the heart of the entertaining space as it would in a modern home. As Danish judge Morten Brandt-Rasmussen comments: “Apart from being the TGV of ocean passages the boat offers the most spacious, open and best integration of the cockpit and salon areas in the market.”

Outremer has done a top job in packing in the creature comforts, stowage space and payload capacity, while keeping it light enough to eat miles. Although a lot to absorb and handle, the 55 offers a formidable blend of speed and luxury cruising.

Outremer 55 price: €1.35m

Best bluewater sailboats for comfort

This is the successor to the legendary Super Maramu, a ketch design that for several decades defined easy downwind handling and fostered a cult following for the French yard. Nearly a decade old, the Amel 55 is the bridge between those world-girdling stalwarts and Amel’s more recent and totally re-imagined sloop designs, the Amel 50 and 60.

The 55 boasts all the serious features Amel aficionados loved and valued: a skeg-hung rudder, solidly built hull, watertight bulkheads, solid guardrails and rampart bulwarks. And, most noticeable, the solid doghouse in which the helmsman sits in perfect shelter at the wheel.

This is a design to live on comfortably for long periods and the list of standard features just goes on and on: passarelle; proper sea berths with lee cloths; electric furling main and genoa; and a multitude of practical items that go right down to a dishwasher and crockery.

There’s no getting around the fact these designs do look rather dated now, and through the development of easier sail handling systems the ketch rig has fallen out of fashion, but the Amel is nothing short of a phenomenon, and if you’ve never even peeked on board one, you really have missed a treat.

Contest 50CS

A centre cockpit cruiser with true longevity, the Contest 50CS was launched by Conyplex back in 2003 and is still being built by the family-owned Dutch company, now in updated and restyled form.

With a fully balanced rudder, large wheel and modern underwater sections, the Contest 50CS is a surprisingly good performer for a boat that has a dry weight of 17.5 tonnes. Many were fitted with in-mast furling, which clearly curtails that performance, but even without, this boat is set up for a small crew.

Electric winches and mainsheet traveller are all easy to reach from the helm. On our test of the Contest 50CS, we saw for ourselves how two people can gybe downwind under spinnaker without undue drama. Upwind, a 105% genoa is so easy to tack it flatters even the weediest crewmember.

Down below, the finish level of the joinery work is up there among the best and the interior is full of clever touches, again updated and modernised since the early models. Never the cheapest bluewater sailing yacht around, the Contest 50CS has remained in demand as a brokerage buy. She is a reassuringly sure-footed, easily handled, very well built yacht that for all those reasons has stood the test of time.

This is a yacht that would be well capable of helping you extend your cruising grounds, almost without realising it.

Hallberg-Rassy 48 Mk II

For many, the Swedish Hallberg-Rassy yard makes the quintessential bluewater cruiser for couples. With their distinctive blue cove line, these designs are famous for their seakindly behaviour, solid-as-a-rock build and beautifully finished, traditional interiors.

To some eyes, Hallberg-Rassys aren’t quite cool enough, but it’s been company owner Magnus Rassy’s confidence in the formula and belief in incremental ‘step-by-step’ evolution that has been such an exceptional guarantor of reliable quality, reputation and resale value.

The centre cockpit Hallberg-Rassy 48 epitomises the concept of comfort at sea and, like all the Frers-designed Hallberg-Rassys since the 1990s, is surprisingly fleet upwind as well as steady downwind. The 48 is perfectly able to be handled by a couple (as we found a few years back in the Pacific), and could with no great effort crack out 200-mile days.

The Hallberg-Rassy 48 was launched nearly a decade ago, but the Mk II from 2014 is our pick, updated with a more modern profile, larger windows and hull portlights that flood the saloon and aft cabin with light. With a large chart table, secure linear galley, heaps of stowage and space for bluewater extras such as machinery and gear, this yacht pretty much ticks all the boxes.

Discovery 55

First launched in 2000, the Discovery 55 has stood the test of time. Designed by Ron Holland, it hit a sweet spot in size that appealed to couples and families with world girdling plans.

Elegantly styled and well balanced, the 55 is also a practical design, with a deep and secure cockpit, comfortable seating, a self-tacking jib, dedicated stowage for the liferaft , a decent sugar scoop transom that’s useful for swimming or dinghy access, and very comfortable accommodation below. In short, it is a design that has been well thought out by those who’ve been there, got the bruises, stubbed their toes and vowed to change things in the future if they ever got the chance.

Throughout the accommodation there are plenty of examples of good detailing, from the proliferation of handholds and grabrails, to deep sinks in the galley offering immediate stowage when under way and the stand up/sit down showers. Stowage is good, too, with plenty of sensibly sized lockers in easily accessible positions.

The Discovery 55 has practical ideas and nifty details aplenty. She’s not, and never was, a breakthrough in modern luxury cruising but she is pretty, comfortable to sail and live on, and well mannered.

You can’t get much more Cornish than a Rustler. The hulls of this Stephen Jones design are hand-moulded and fitted out in Falmouth – and few are more ruggedly built than this traditional, up-for-anything offshore cruiser.

She boasts an encapsulated lead keel, eliminating keel bolts and creating a sump for generous fuel and water tankage, while a chunky skeg protects the rudder. She is designed for good directional stability and load carrying ability. These are all features that lend this yacht confidence as it shoulders aside the rough stuff.

Most of those built have had a cutter rig, a flexible arrangement that makes sense for long passages in all sea and weather conditions. Down below, the galley and saloon berths are comfortable and sensible for living in port and at sea, with joinery that Rustler’s builders are rightly proud of.

As modern yachts have got wider, higher and fatter, the Rustler 42 is an exception. This is an exceptionally well-mannered seagoing yacht in the traditional vein, with elegant lines and pleasing overhangs, yet also surprisingly powerful. And although now over 20 years old, timeless looks and qualities mean this design makes her look ever more like a perennial, a modern classic.

The definitive crossover size, the point at which a yacht can be handled by a couple but is just large enough to have a professional skipper and be chartered, sits at around the 60ft mark. At 58ft 8in, the Oyster 575 fitted perfectly into this growing market when launched in 2010. It went on to be one of the most popular models from the yard, and is only now being superseded by the newer Rob Humphreys-designed Oyster 565 (just launched this spring).

Built in various configurations with either a deep keel, shoal draught keel or centreboard with twin rudders, owners could trade off better performance against easy access to shallower coves and anchorages. The deep-bodied hull, also by Rob Humphreys, is known for its easy motion at sea.

Some of the Oyster 575’s best features include its hallmark coachroof windows style and centre cockpit – almost everyone will know at first glance this is an Oyster – and superb interior finish. If she has a flaw, it is arguably the high cockpit, but the flip side is the galley headroom and passageway berth to the large aft stateroom.

This design also has a host of practical features for long-distance cruising, such as high guardrails, dedicated liferaft stowage, a vast lazarette for swallowing sails, tender, fenders etc, and a penthouse engine room.

Privilege Serie 5

A true luxury catamaran which, fully fitted out, will top €1m, this deserves to be seen alongside the likes of the Oyster 575, Gunfleet 58 and Hallberg-Rassy 55. It boasts a large cockpit and living area, and a light and spacious saloon with an emphasis on indoor-outdoor living, masses of refrigeration and a big galley.

Standout features are finish quality and solid build in a yacht designed to take a high payload, a secure walkaround deck and all-round views from the helm station. The new Privilege 510 that will replace this launches in February 2020.

Gunfleet 43

It was with this Tony Castro design that Richard Matthews, founder of Oyster Yachts, launched a brand new rival brand in 2012, the smallest of a range stretching to the flagship Gunfleet 74. The combination of short overhangs and centre cockpit at this size do make the Gunfleet 43 look modern if a little boxy, but time and subsequent design trends have been kind to her lines, and the build quality is excellent. The saloon, galley and aft cabin space is exceptional on a yacht of this size.

Conceived as a belt-and-braces cruiser, the Kraken 50 launched last year. Its unique points lie underwater in the guise of a full skeg-hung rudder and so-called ‘Zero Keel’, an encapsulated long keel with lead ballast.

Kraken Yachts is the brainchild of British businessman and highly experienced cruiser Dick Beaumont, who is adamant that safety should be foremost in cruising yacht design and build. “There is no such thing as ‘one yacht for all purposes’… You cannot have the best of all worlds, whatever the salesman tells you,” he says.

Best bluewater yachts for performance

The Frers-designed Swan 54 may not be the newest hull shape but heralded Swan’s latest generation of displacement bluewater cruisers when launched four years ago. With raked stem, deep V hull form, lower freeboard and slight curve to the topsides she has a more timeless aesthetic than many modern slab-sided high volume yachts, and with that a seakindly motion in waves. If you plan to cover many miles to weather, this is probably the yacht you want to be on.

Besides Swan’s superlative build quality, the 54 brings many true bluewater features, including a dedicated sail locker. There’s also a cockpit locker that functions as a utility cabin, with potential to hold your generator and washing machine, or be a workshop space.

The sloping transom opens out to reveal a 2.5m bathing platform, and although the cabins are not huge there is copious stowage space. Down below the top-notch oak joinery is well thought through with deep fiddles, and there is a substantial nav station. But the Swan 54 wins for handling above all, with well laid-out sail controls that can be easily managed between a couple, while offering real sailing enjoyment to the helmsman.

The Performance Cruiser winner at the 2019 European Yacht of the Year awards, the Arcona 435 is all about the sailing experience. She has genuine potential as a cruiser-racer, but her strengths are as an enjoyable cruiser rather than a full-blown liveaboard bluewater boat.

Build quality is excellent, there is the option of a carbon hull and deck, and elegant lines and a plumb bow give the Arcona 435 good looks as well as excellent performance in light airs. Besides slick sail handling systems, there are well thought-out features for cruising, such as ample built-in rope bins and an optional semi-closed stern with stowage and swim platform.

If you want the space and stability of a cat but still prioritise sailing performance, Outremer has built a reputation on building catamarans with true bluewater characteristics that have cruised the planet for the past 30 years.

Lighter and slimmer-hulled than most cruising cats, the Outremer 51 is all about sailing at faster speeds, more easily. The lower volume hulls and higher bridgedeck make for a better motion in waves, while owners report that being able to maintain a decent pace even under reduced canvas makes for stress-free passages. Deep daggerboards also give good upwind performance.

With bucket seats and tiller steering options, the Outremer 51 rewards sailors who want to spend time steering, while they’re famously well set up for handling with one person on deck. The compromise comes with the interior space – even with a relatively minimalist style, there is less cabin space and stowage volume than on the bulkier cats, but the Outremer 51 still packs in plenty of practical features.

The Xc45 was the first cruising yacht X-Yachts ever built, and designed to give the same X-Yachts sailing experience for sailors who’d spent years racing 30/40-footer X- and IMX designs, but in a cruising package.

Launched over 10 years ago, the Xc45 has been revisited a few times to increase the stowage and modernise some of the styling, but the key features remain the same, including substantial tanks set low for a low centre of gravity, and X-Yachts’ trademark steel keel grid structure. She has fairly traditional styling and layout, matched with solid build quality.

A soft bilge and V-shaped hull gives a kindly motion in waves, and the cockpit is secure, if narrow by modern standards.

For sailors who don’t mind exchanging a few creature comforts for downwind planing performance, the Pogo 50 offers double-digit surfing speeds for exhilarating tradewind sailing. There’s an open transom, tiller steering and no backstay or runners. The Pogo 50 also has a swing keel, to nose into shallow anchorages.

Seawinds are relatively unknown in Europe, but these bluewater cats are very popular in Australia. As would be expected from a Reichel-Pugh design, this 52-footer combines striking good looks and high performance, with fine entry bows and comparatively low freeboard. Rudders are foam cored lifting designs in cassettes, which offer straightforward access in case of repairs, while daggerboards are housed under the deck.

Best bluewater sailboats for families

It’s unsurprising that, for many families, it’s a catamaran that meets their requirements best of increased space – both living space and separate cabins for privacy-seeking teenagers, additional crew or visiting family – as well as stable and predictable handling.

Undoubtedly one of the biggest success stories has been the Lagoon 450, which, together with boats like the Fountaine Pajot 44, helped drive up the popularity of catamaran cruising by making it affordable and accessible. They have sold in huge numbers – over 1,000 Lagoon 450s have been built since its launch in 2010.

The VPLP-designed 450 was originally launched with a flybridge with a near central helming position and upper level lounging areas (450F). The later ‘sport top’ option (450S) offered a starboard helm station and lower boom (and hence lower centre of gravity for reduced pitching). The 450S also gained a hull chine to create additional volume above the waterline. The Lagoon features forward lounging and aft cockpit areas for additional outdoor living space.

Besides being a big hit among charter operators, Lagoons have proven themselves over thousands of bluewater miles – there were seven Lagoon 450s in last year’s ARC alone. In what remains a competitive sector of the market, Lagoon has recently launched a new 46, with a larger self-tacking jib and mast moved aft, and more lounging areas.

Fountaine Pajot Helia 44

The FP Helia 44 is lighter, lower volume, and has a lower freeboard than the Lagoon, weighing in at 10.8 tonnes unloaded (compared to 15 for the 450). The helm station is on a mezzanine level two steps up from the bridgedeck, with a bench seat behind. A later ‘Evolution’ version was designed for liveaboard cruisers, featuring beefed up dinghy davits and an improved saloon space.

Available in three or four cabin layouts, the Helia 44 was also popular with charter owners as well as families. The new 45 promises additional volume, and an optional hydraulically lowered ‘beach club’ swim platform.

The French RM 1370 might be less well known than the big brand names, but offers something a little bit different for anyone who wants a relatively voluminous cruising yacht. Designed by Marc Lombard, and beautifully built from plywood/epoxy, the RM is stiff and responsive, and sails superbly.

The RM yachts have a more individual look – in part down to the painted finish, which encourages many owners to personalise their yachts, but also thanks to their distinctive lines with reverse sheer and dreadnought bow. The cockpit is well laid out with the primary winches inboard for a secure trimming position. The interior is light, airy and modern, although the open transom won’t appeal to everyone.

For those wanting a monohull, the Hanse 575 hits a similar sweet spot to the popular multis, maximising accommodation for a realistic price, yet with responsive performance.

The Hanse offers a vast amount of living space thanks to the ‘loft design’ concept of having all the living areas on a single level, which gives a real feeling of spaciousness with no raised saloon or steps to accommodation. The trade-off for such lofty head height is a substantial freeboard – it towers above the pontoon, while, below, a stepladder is provided to reach some hatches.

Galley options include drawer fridge-freezers, microwave and coffee machine, and the full size nav station can double up as an office or study space.

But while the Hanse 575 is a seriously large boat, its popularity is also down to the fact that it is genuinely able to be handled by a couple. It was innovative in its deck layout: with a self-tacking jib and mainsheet winches immediately to hand next to the helm, one person could both steer and trim.

Direct steering gives a feeling of control and some tangible sailing fun, while the waterline length makes for rapid passage times. In 2016 the German yard launched the newer Hanse 588 model, having already sold 175 of the 575s in just four years.

Jeanneau 54

Jeanneau leads the way among production builders for versatile all-rounder yachts that balance sail performance and handling, ergonomics, liveaboard functionality and good looks. The Jeanneau 54 , part of the range designed by Philippe Briand with interior by Andrew Winch, melds the best of the larger and smaller models and is available in a vast array of layout options from two cabins/two heads right up to five cabins and three heads.

We’ve tested the Jeanneau 54 in a gale and very light winds, and it acquitted itself handsomely in both extremes. The primary and mainsheet winches are to hand next to the wheel, and the cockpit is spacious, protected and child-friendly. An electric folding swim and sun deck makes for quick fun in the water.

Nautitech Open 46

This was the first Nautitech catamaran to be built under the ownership of Bavaria, designed with an open-plan bridgedeck and cockpit for free-flowing living space. But with good pace for eating up bluewater miles, and aft twin helms rather than a flybridge, the Nautitech Open 46 also appeals to monohull sailors who prefer a more direct sailing experience.

Made by Robertson and Caine, who produce catamarans under a dual identity as both Leopard and the Sunsail/Moorings charter cats, the Leopard 45 is set to be another big seller. Reflecting its charter DNA, the Leopard 45 is voluminous, with stepped hulls for reduced waterline, and a separate forward cockpit.

Built in South Africa, they are robustly tested off the Cape and constructed ruggedly enough to handle heavy weather sailing as well as the demands of chartering.

If space is king then three hulls might be even better than two. The Neel 51 is rare as a cruising trimaran with enough space for proper liveaboard sailing. The galley and saloon are in the large central hull, together with an owner’s cabin on one level for a unique sensation of living above the water. Guest or family cabins lie in the outer hulls for privacy and there is a cavernous full height engine room under the cabin sole.

Performance is notably higher than an equivalent cruising cat, particularly in light winds, with a single rudder giving a truly direct feel in the helm, although manoeuvring a 50ft trimaran may daunt many sailors.

A brilliant new model from Beneteau, this Finot Conq design has a modern stepped hull, which offers exhilarating and confidence-inspiring handling in big breezes, and slippery performance in lighter winds.

The Beneteau Oceanis 46.1 was the standout performer at this year’s European Yacht of the Year awards, and, in replacing the popular Oceanis 45, looks set to be another bestseller. Interior space is well used with a double island berth in the forepeak. An additional inboard unit creates a secure galley area, but tank capacity is moderate for long periods aboard.

Bestevaer 56.

All of the yachts in our ‘expedition’ category are aluminium-hulled designs suitable for high latitude sailing, and all are exceptional yachts. But the Bestevaer 56 is a spectacular amount of boat to take on a true adventure. Each Bestevaer is a near-custom build with plenty of bespoke options for owners to customise the layout and where they fall on the scale of rugged off-grid adventurer to 4×4-style luxury fit out.

The Bestevaer range began when renowned naval architect Gerard Dijkstra chose to design his own personal yacht for liveaboard adventure cruising, a 53-footer. The concept drew plenty of interest from bluewater sailors wanting to make longer expeditions and Bestevaers are now available in a range of sizes, with the 56-footer proving a popular mid-range length.

The well-known Bestevaer 56 Tranquilo  (pictured above) has a deep, secure cockpit, voluminous tanks (700lt water and over 1,100lt fuel) and a lifting keel plus water ballast, with classically styled teak clad decks and pilot house. Other owners have opted for functional bare aluminium hull and deck, some choose a doghouse and others a pilothouse.

The Boreal 52 also offers Land Rover-esque practicality, with utilitarian bare aluminium hulls and a distinctive double-level doghouse/coachroof arrangement for added protection in all weathers. The cockpit is clean and uncluttered, thanks to the mainsheet position on top of the doghouse, although for visibility in close manoeuvring the helmsman will want to step up onto the aft deck.

Twin daggerboards, a lifting centreboard and long skeg on which she can settle make this a true go-anywhere expedition yacht. The metres of chain required for adventurous anchoring is stowed in a special locker by the mast to keep the weight central. Down below has been thought through with equally practical touches, including plenty of bracing points and lighting that switches on to red light first to protect your night vision.

Garcia Exploration 45

The Garcia Exploration 45 comes with real experience behind her – she was created in association with Jimmy Cornell, based on his many hundreds of thousands of miles of bluewater cruising, to go anywhere from high latitudes to the tropics.

Arguably less of a looker than the Bestevaer, the Garcia Exploration 45 features a rounded aluminium hull, centreboard with deep skeg and twin daggerboards. The considerable anchor chain weight has again been brought aft, this time via a special conduit to a watertight locker in front of the centreboard.

This is a yacht designed to be lived on for extended periods with ample storage, and panoramic portlights to give a near 360° view of whichever extraordinary landscape you are exploring. Safety features include a watertight companionway door to keep extreme weather out and through-hull fittings placed above the waterline. When former Vendée Globe skipper Pete Goss went cruising , this was the boat he chose to do it in.

There is considerable skepticism about the existence of the “History Supreme.” Many experts in the yachting industry consider it more of a myth or a marketing stunt than an actual yacht. There are no credible photographs or evidence proving its existence, and it is not mentioned in any reputable superyacht listings.

In contrast, yachts like “REV Ocean,” “Dilbar,” and “Serene” have well-known owners, documented histories, and their specifications and photos are publicly available.

Therefore, it is likely that the “History Supreme” is not a real yacht but rather a fictional story created to claim the title of the most expensive yacht in the world.

The only thing I think of when I see such extravagant luxury and the extreme amount of materialistic items these individuals purchase is: imagine if the super rich actually did something constructive with their loot. I don’t know … clean up the environment; fix everything mankind has done to this sick planet so there’s something left for our kids, grandkids to enjoy; feed the homeless; pour money into the education systems; rid the world of poverty etc. What a legacy! But, nope, instead they’ll still spend 150,000$ on a dress they might wear once, $30 M on a house they don’t even live in … all just to feed their ego. It’s unreal and so sad.

Our hearts know it is intolerable to live in a world where wealth inequality has been able to reach such heights. Capitalism says you are paid what your worth, but it’s not true. You are paid what you have the power to negotiate. No one making $50 million dollars a year is worth 1000 times more than the every day salary of $50,000/yr. But we don’t have to tolerate rising wealth inequality in a rivalrous dynamics led world. Stormwater run off doesn’t need to wipe out salamanders because it doesnt need to be toxic. The story we tell about the metaphysical reasons that we are here are directing the game that we’re playing. That game being one where we dismiss, disregard, or don’t know of the externalities of our choices. That game being one of rivalrous dynamics, modeled after the rest of the animal kingdom, and a game that we seemingly needed in order to become something unique, powerful and beautiful in the world. I believe the time has come for our deep adaptation to become something that we’ve never been. It’s time we play a different game, under a different story, with different answers than are pervasive today as to ‘What the human is here to do? We do not get to choose if we have answers for questions like ‘Why are we here?’ or ‘What is the human?’ When we havent asked these questions, in the absence of the sacred (for what else is the nature of these things?), culture injects answers that we often unconsciously adopt. One question I think would be excellent to begin with is ‘Do I want to consciously or unconsciously adopt answers to the deepest philosophical and metaphysical questions?’

For each yacht we see in this article, several thousand people down the supply chain that built it, operate it, and maintain it – have jobs. Houses, cars, retirement accounts. They pay their local taxes for police and fire, they go on vacations… Do you seriously think the world will be a better place we ban wealth? geeze. Its been tried a few times… well… the excuse to confiscate it that is… no one is happy when everyone is forced to be equally poor.

That has been studied and absolutely incorrect. The less economic disparity, the happier the population. I hope you are capable of understanding that someday.

I honestly can’t imagine a clearer sign that somebody has too much money, then luxurious super yacht. On the other hand, it isn’t all gold what shines. Hi, if you all permit me to add another comment to this article after reading all yours, other than 2-4 of you looking at this article in a negative way, the majority are between envy and looking forward to step in the owners shoes. Very common to human being throughout their evolution to acquire, and those who have been looked at as the privileged, while the rest would be part of feeding that machine or work for it and for reasons beyond this permitted space. My 2 cents in the whole discussion is from several point of view, we pride ourselves that we are at point of history where freedom of expression, action and knowledge never been so high, maybe few parts of homo sapiens history like Greece where we can say matching if not more (factoring 2500 years of delay), I have no comments on anybody’s behavior, but 1st rule in life is modesty of acquisition and accumulation to fulfill our need and our security (both are fulfilled in this day and age and if not because again human intentional decision not to help others of their kind which other animal species doesn’t behave as same) , most of who I see and read about who shop beyond their need in life and fill their closet to the point that these closets are apartment sizes while these goods are hardly used several times if not left with their tags. Not walking the (saving the planet road) but to think of how much small shirt need of water to produce or any of that, I can’t but see that there is strong schizophrenia in behaviour and thinking, that we carry on criticizing to protect this precious suffocating planet and at the same time falling prey to these kind of behaviour. And as Yuval Noah Harari said, we have abundance of wealth to fulfil everybody’s need, it is still our beasty behaviour to deny other human being from coming to equal level because we want to have 24 carat golden faucet and marble bath tub shipped from Italy to our big houses, (beasty and not animal, animal act in accordance with their needs and not wasting, as much as they are part of the Ecosystem plus other aspect that you can research on regarding struggle or violent behaviour differences between human and other animal species in general). I would end with the Mahatma Ghandi when he said (this planet can fulfill everybody’s need but can’t fulfill their greed). It’s funny how so many of you are like “Well they could spend that on less fortunate people or those in need.” They already probably are, and then they’re rewarding themselves for helping those people. Money is a unit of measure rendered to you based on the amount of people you serv; and most of you have money problems because you only serve one person: YOUR BOSS. Stop making excuses and start putting in hard work for your dreams and goals in life. Yeah, it’ll take time but the time will pass ANYWAY.

Easy for you to say. You have people working for you most likely, where as the rest of us cannot afford to pay the bills because cost of living is so high it’s ridiculous. We live in a world where a family of four with an income of $30,000 a year is considered below the poverty line. Just think about that for a moment, realize what that means. 50 years ago $30,000 a year was enough for a family of four to buy a decent 3 bedroom house with garage on a 1 acre plot, live comfortably, pay for their kids to go to college, go on family vacations, camping trips, eat healthy, and afford healthcare without breaking the bank. Now that same $30,000 isn’t enough to buy a trailer, or pay for college. You can barely afford basic health insurance, deductibles are stupidly high and most insurance companies expect you to pay the deductible up front first before they’ll pick up the rest of the bill, and most families these days just don’t have that kind of money available anymore. 50 years ago, sure, but nowadays, no. The “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps.” nonsense is a blatant cop-out by those who possess the means to do so. Try living on $9.00/hour 40 hr/week and $7.75/hour 38 hours/week on average working two full time jobs where your paychecks barely cross $300.00 and that’s if you get paid any overtime, your weekly income is at best $550.00 after taxes leaving you to care for a family of four on $2,200.00 to maybe $2,400.00 a month. Your monthly groundline/internet phone bill is $80 on average, no cable tv, maybe stream Netflix or Hulu plus not both for about $15 a month, (there’s your “luxury” hardee har har), used car payment to a cheesy used car dealership of a $100.00/month plus car insurance at $80/month. $600.00/month rent on a 3 bedroom apartment, utilities NOT included, so that’s another $100.00 out the window. A food bill that averages close to $250/week to feed everybody, with maybe one dining out trip for the family to Denny’s or something once a month for about maybe $60 including tip, and that’s if you save some extra cash on a couple of your grocery shopping trips. Health insurance bill is $800.00/month and your deductible is like $2,000.00. Gas for the car when gas is hovering around $2.50/gallon and the car is an old retired 2002 Crown Victoria with over 200,000 miles on the odometer and needs work and parts you can’t afford. LIVE ON THAT for a couple years and then you can tell me your story about “Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.” when you have to live like that. Where can you save money for college? When both spouses work full time just to make ends meet, no time for the kids. No family time. No vacations. When the most luxurious thing you own is a used video game console you bought from the local pawn shop for $60 and that was a Christmas gift for the kids to share. Man you rich people are so out of touch with the rest of humanity it makes us all sick. And don’t try to bullshit me with some asinine excuse that you’re not so well off, because we all know that’s a lie.

Like he actually works for a living,… don’t make me laugh. Your considerations of our plight is about as fake and empty as that cheap smile you wear on your face while people like you get $1.5 trillion dollars in tax cuts, just so you can go and buy back stocks. Then just to make yourselves look profitable you close down factories and shift even more jobs over seas to 3rd world countries where you can have 12 year old girls and boys working 16/hour a day shifts making cheap products on the backs of legalized slave labor. Eventually, your $4.5 billion dollar boats will mean nothing, your $6 billion dollar palace estates will mean nothing as this artificial financial bubble you’ve inflated for yourselves will pop and it will be you who have the farthest to fall and you will only have yourselves and your own damn greed to blame.

Haha @Angry_Peasant, holy smokes you just hit my nail square on the head. Sad, sad thing nowadays. However, you was being slightly tight on those numbers. $350 (used car) $150 (insurance 4 car) $750 health insurance deductible paid upfront, $650 RENT for a rough house in a NOT SO PLEASANT area (meaning I dont have weekly murders but there is plenty of “friendly corner salesmen if you catch my drift”, $300 weekly food bill UNLESS we fall behind in our rent/bills which happens at Christmas or if we decide to treat our kids to 2 days at Kings Island as a “vacation ” bcuz they earn it by getting A’s n B’s in school and it crushes parents to hear your 4 kids ask if they can do something fun this summer. And we fall behind trust me that $300 food bill goes down to $150ish (lots of spaghetti n ramen noodles, cereal, hamburgers hotdogs etc. Utility bills are more like $250 if prices dont go up from greedy companies. Oh yea, I work 60+ hrs a week and my wife does too. I also have major bone n muscle disorders but cant get treated bcuz I cannot be off work that long to recover. And lets not forget clothes and school supplies. But Im living the dream, just not sure whos dream it is. I am lucky tho. Bcuz I work Maintenance for a Catholic School/church my kids get private schooling. Otherwise, it would be $8500 a child. Luckily its only $3000 for one child in high school and my other 3 in elementary are still free. But maybe with fingers crossed they will get the chance to live their own dreams and not those of someone who spends 1 billion buck-o-roos on a boat bcuz they feel like they earned by giving $10,000 to some charity once a year.

OMG! Number 3.! A replica of a city on water! That’s quite visionary. They even made the plan and know how much it costs. In other words it’s not just an idea, It’s doable.

For me luxury is comfort. A vehicle easy to get in and out of, easy to use, quiet, a suspension somewhere between sports and wallow.

What can I say.. but to gaze at this beautiful toys.. I hail everyone who contributes in building this boats.. I don’t have to envy or condemn any rich man who can afford it.. for me, watching and reading articles like this serve as a motivation for me to work hard and right so that I could buy and own one someday and when I do.. In reply to Nigel, Although I sympathize with his comments, it does seem to me that by buying one of these luxury boats, the money that otherwise would have been sitting in some vault somewhere is being put to use. Yes the owner has a big new plaything, but think of all the thousands of people that earned incomes to support their families designing, building, stocking and managing these ships. Literally tens of thousands of peoples income for years (and of course all the people that took care of these people – grocers, barbers, teachers, plumbers, etc. etc.) earned incomes because these ships came into existence.

I’m sure there are many better ways to help people, by giving away the wealth, but spending it on luxury items doesn’t make it disappear – it goes deeply into the economy.

About the ships themselves – they are awesome and beautiful in their own right.

If we add up the cost of the yachts in the article, it comes out to well over 7 billion dollars. The buyers could have just left their money sitting in a bank. THAT would have been savage. But by choosing to spend it on these yachts, they handed that 7 billion dollars over to the tens of thousands of people who designed, engineered, built, maintained, and maybe even took the pics seen in the ad. Rich people buying what they choose is what employs everybody else. How much payroll tax did the jobs involved with creating these yachts generate? Local govts can pay their fire dept and police. The kids can have their public parks – and let’s not leave out the money anyone involved may have choze to give to charity as well. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Yacht buyer, Lear Jet owner, Mansion dweller… your money spent is our money earned.

One of the joys of a city like Paris is simply taking in the smells and sights of the city by exploring its streets. The city is home to some very famous and iconic streets, complete with elegant architecture and fashionable storefront decorations.

Take a stroll down Rue Saint-Dominique for a picture-perfect view of the Eiffel Tower and visit some high-end boutiques, meander down the infamous Avenue des Champs-Élysées for stunning views of the Arc de Triomphe, or saunter up Rue Saint-Rustique, the oldest street in Montmarte, to transport yourself back in time for a vintage look at the city. The old street of Rue Chanoinesse will deliver some of the prettiest floral-decorated cafe and shop fronts, while Boulevard Saint-Germain shows off historical monuments and coffee stops famous for its past intellectual patrons such as Simone de Beauvoir . One of the most photographed streets in Paris is Rue Crémieux, lined with uniform pastel-coloured shuttered houses decorated with various potted plants – don’t leave without visiting this peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.

Trocadéro/Eiffel Tower

Yes, it is a cliché, but it is hard to ignore one of the most iconic structures in the world, let alone just in Paris. The Eiffel Tower can be spotted from many places around the city, but one of the best views of the famous landmark is from Trocadéro, which lies directly opposite the tower, just across the Seine. Starting near the “moderne” style Palais de Chaillot, take in the tremendous site of the Eiffel Tower before wandering through Trocadéro’s extravagant gardens that also encompass museums, sculptures and gardens. After absorbing all 1083 feet of this historical monument, cross over to the tower itself if you are seeking some panoramic Parisian views. Despite not being able to see much of the tower itself while you are actually on it, going up the stairs or taking the lift to various floors will show off the Paris landscape right from the heart of the city.

Palais Garnier

Paris is packed with architectural gems, but one that has earned its place as a behemouth of a building is the Palais Garnier. Named after the French architect Charles Garnier, who designed and built it at the behest of Emperor Napoleon III, the construction is characterised by elegant structures, majestic decor and golden opulence. Designed in the Baroque and Renaissance styles, the palace was the primary theatre of the Paris Opera and frequented by the most elite members of Paris society after its completion in 1875. It became an important symbol of Paris, in line with the Notre Dame or Sacré-Cœur, partly due to being used as inspiration for The Phantom of the Opera. Inside, discover a world of affluence and abundance, from busts of opera legends to delicately painted ceiling frescos.

Parc Monceau

This 17th-century public park offers a green and quiet sanctuary in the city. While not in the same structured style as a traditional French garden, Parc Monceau offers a more relaxed experience, with curved walkways and statues from various origins dotted amongst the foliage. Some of the park’s most notable architectural features include a Roman colonnade and a small bridge modelled on the Rialto Bridge in Venice . Tucked away near private mansions, haute couture house offices and luxury boutiques, this park delivers a real sense of elegance and serenity.

Sunset on the Seine

Several postponed swimming events during the Paris Olympics mean the quality of the River Seine is up for some debate, but when the sun sets over the city, this body of water serves as a sparkling backdrop. Stroll along the waterfront to enjoy classic Parisian architecture, past the Les Invalides, where Napoleon’s tomb lies, and the Palais de Tokyo as you walk from Quai Saint Bernard all the way to L’île aux Cygnes on this walking route , which takes just over 90 minutes. If your feet are weary from pounding pavements all day, opt for a sightseeing cruise along this famous stretch of water.

While the Sacré-Coeur and the Eiffel Tower serve up some monumental views of the Parisian skyline, there are several other excellent opportunities to experience how remarkable Paris is from up high. Take a trip to the Montparnasse Observatory or the building’s rooftop deck to spot the city’s landmarks from a birdseye view. A self-guided tour ticket around the iconic Arc de Triomphe’s interior rooms also grants you access to an exceptional viewing platform. Over the past decade, seeing and being seen in restaurants has become a trend in itself, with certain spots reaching downright cult status. From the chic uniforms worn by the staff designed by the most cutting-edge brands to sleek interiors and tableware featured in top fashion magazines, dining has become a new frontier in the world of fashion.

In fact, it’s not uncommon on social media, to see models posing in front of dishes at their favorite haunts. For instance, we've seen pop icon Dua Lipa dining at MICHELIN-Starred chef Hélène Darroze’s Marsan . Fittingly, chef Jean Imbert, and social media sensation, who has long catered to luxury fashion houses, recently took over the kitchen at the Paris palace hotel the Plaza Athénée , following in the footsteps of none other than Alain Ducasse, who’s restaurant empire has earnt him the status of most MICHELIN-Starred chef in the world (21 stars, in case you’re wondering). Television shows about food and restaurants are also upping the momentum. For instance, in the hit series The Bear , chef Carmy Berzatto ’s signature white tee comes from the German label Merz b. Schwanen (priced at a cool $105 a piece). At first glance, this fusion of food and fashion may seem surprising but upon deeper reflection, it makes perfect sense. Both fashion and gastronomy are platforms for boundless creativity and artistic vision that evolve with the seasons. Let the show begin!

Helmed by Bertrand Grébaut, one of the youngest chefs in France to received a MICHELIN star, this establishment has become a symbol of the new wave of Parisian dining, where cool meets culinary indulgence. Tucked on buzzy Rue de Charonne in Paris 11th, this one-star gem is all about Danish-style minimal design - think big loft-like windows, timber tables, and exposed metal beams. Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and even former French President François Hollande have been spotted among its clientele. But you've to be quick to nab a table here: bookings must be made exactly three weeks in advance to secure one of the few coveted spots at this restaurant.

Formerly of Frenchie in London and an alumnus of the three-star Paris restaurant George V alongside head chef Christian Le Squer, as well as Saturne with Sven Chartier, Franco-Israeli chef Matan Zaken has also spent time as a private chef for major fashion houses—a likely source of his flair for presentation. Hidden beneath a vaulted cellar facing the Palais Royal is his striking 20-seat communal table. On the menu? Creative dishes that draw on a diverse array of influences, from Japan to the Middle East, with techniques ranging from slow-cooking and binchotan grilling to fermentation and brining.

From a managerial standpoint alone, Datil's nothing short of revolutionary. There’s no head chef or sous-chef here—just a winning team of five female chefs working together as equals. Hatched in late September 2023, the latest venture by Manon Fleury and her co-chefs checks all the right boxes for the times: inclusion, plant-based cuisine, and eco-responsibility. Before opening her own space—defined by minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired decor—Fleury, one of France’s rising culinary stars, built an impressive résumé of high-end experiences and residencies. The vibe is laid-back, fueled by a powerhouse team.

Featured in the cult Netflix series Emily in Paris , the ultra-chic Cheval Blanc Paris continues to draw a crowd of beautiful people. And its Japanese dining gem brings together three culinary heavyweights: chef Takuya Watanabe, Arnaud Donckele , and head pastry Maxime Frédéric. Each sushi is crafted right in front of the diner, an impressive display of haute cuisine. The decor and service, perfectly in tune with the meal, elevate the experience with an emphasis on silence and the purity of materials.

LAVA - Cuisine & Vin

Blending the chef’s passion for volcanoes with the sommelier’s love for wine, Lava is one of the hottest dining spots in Paris right now. Le Cheval d'Or

In the laid-back Jourdain neighborhood perched up on a gentle hill in western Paris, a brand new team led by Crislaine Medina, the former sommelier of popular Parisian restaurant Rigmarole, is reviving this establishment in its unchanged decor. What’s on the menu? An eclectic Asian cuisine reimagined through a French lens—or perhaps the other way around! Delight in dishes like “barbujuan” ravioli with sweet chili sauce, tofu and shiitake tortellini, and orange-stuffed duck, each offering a delectable experience.

No wonder this spot is popular with a young and trendy crowd. Chef Amandine Chaignot’s neo-bistro celebrates market-fresh ingredients, spontaneity, and creativity. This philosophy is reflected in her unique menu: diners select only the main course (meat, fish, or vegetarian), while the rest of the meal is left to the chef’s discretion. On Wednesdays, the menu is exclusively vegetarian, and Sundays embrace a family-style bourgeois spirit centered around chicken.

Inspired by the oyster bars of the East Coast of the United States, this offshoot of Septime  gets its name from a popular cocktail in Quebec—a sort of Bloody Mary enhanced with clam juice and a must-try here. The venue exudes bistronomic appeal, featuring a trendy decor and a concise menu that highlights seafood and vegetables with delightful international influences. Note that reservations aren’t an option: it’s first come, first served.

Overlooking the gardens of the Louvre, Loulou is inside the Musée des Arts Décoratifs jusy next door and offers an enchanting setting. In the kitchen, chefs Benoît Dargère and Zouhair Bouhlal reinvent Mediterranean classics with meticulous ingredient selection. Whether on the terrace or in the elegant dining room, the service is as exquisite as the dishes (daily risotto, veal piccata al limone with sage, grilled octopus with aioli...). It’s cozy, refined, and utterly delicious.
