Minimum booking 2 nights - Saldanha Bay Yacht House is a self-catering holiday home on the beachfront about 20 meters from the water in the Parkersdorp area of Saldanha Bay, Western Cape, South Africa. The house has 4 bedrooms with open-plan bathing facilities in each bedroom. The main bedroom has a bath, shower, basin and toilet, the other remaining bedrooms have only a shower, basin and toilet. There is a guest toilet too. The kitchen, dining room and living room are open-plan, designed for perfect sea views. The tv room and 4th bedroom, as well as inside barbeque, are on the upper level, only reachable by a flight of stairs.

There is an outside cottage for rent only, sleeping 4 guests, 2 privately with a shared bath, basin and toilet, ideal for families with smaller kids. The laundry forms part of the cottage, with a washer and dryer if needed.

My home is a comfortable, informal and stylish space. The interior of the home has bagged brickwork contrasted with smooth white screeded floors giving it a chic coastal touch. The house is in the quiet suburb of Myburgh Park and is very close to the Yacht Club and North Gate of the Nature Reserve as well as Shark Bay ⛱️ beach. It is a 5 minute drive to the local shops, beach and restaurant area and about 8kms to the Laguna Mall (Woolworths etc) and Mykonos Casino and restaurant area.

Situation & Directions Saldanha Bay Yacht Club is situated on Saldanha Bay, adjacent to the Saldanha Bay harbour. From Cape Town, head up the west coast road (R27), going past Langebaan. At the Saldanha Bay turn-off, turn left. At the intersection with the Vredenburg / Saldanha Bay main road (R399), turn left. Follow this road through the Saldanha Bay town. At the intersection with Saldanha Road, take the slip road left to the the yacht club.

Description Saldanha Bay Yacht Club is very much a family Club where the members enjoy spending time socialising. There is racing once a month, with different classes of keelboats participating.

I enjoyed the relaxed pace of Saldanha. I enjoyed spending time at the lodge studying and relaxing when we could. The catering was really good and the service of the staff Bradely Francke and Sandra Swart was outstanding. I would definitely stay there again when given the chance.

Nothing - except for Blue Bay lodge restaurant which was refreshingly nice.

The view. the small town and nice people. The beaches are clean . The policemen on duty. On the beach, on the street, they are always visible.

The beach is our favorite as my granddaughter, age 2, just love the sea and sand.

Situated to the South West of Cape Town and home to a large fleet of fishing vessels and water sport enthusiasts. Saldanha Bay is the largest, natural harbour in South Africa which consists of a spectacular, never-ending coastline.

A breakwater built in the late 1970’s extends over 1.5km long and joins the mainland with Marcus Island. Jacobsbaai, another breathtaking bay, mere kilometers north of Saldanha Bay is often referred to as "Namaqualand by the sea" due to its substantial blossoming of flora in the during the Spring months. The bay and its islands can be intimately explored by way of a boating trip or fishing excursion. With these majestic shorelines, it comes as no surprise to learn that Southern Right Wales pay homage to Saldanha Bay during the late winter.

Other things to see in Saldanha Bay include the French Huguenot Memorial, Doc's Cave, the Breakwater and Cummings Grave. With its multitude of peninsulas, sandy bays, pristine beaches and an abundance of seafood, crayfish, fish, mussels and abalone, Saldanha Bay is one calendar event that needs to be attended.

About Guest Houses

For a more down to earth experience there are guest houses. Less expensive than hotels, they offer a more homey environment, as well as more privacy. Converted from a private house it’s a much gentler environment and for those with furry friends, there are also pet friendly options. Sarasota County suffers storm surge flooding in wake of Hurricane Helene

SARASOTA, Fla. - Hurricane Helene flooded streets, downed powerlines, and left debris strewn around Sarasota County . 

Teams were assessing the damage on Friday, especially in the hard-hit areas of the barrier islands.

Storm Surge

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, the storm surge from Hurricane Helene caused infrastructure damage to areas around the county, such as Casey Key Road, Midnight Pass, Manasota Beach, and the Caspersen area.

Drone video showed the damage Helene did to St. Armands Circle and Lido Key. Both Level A evacuation zones experienced significant flooding and storm surge.

Water rescues

The Urban Search and Rescue Task Force, Task Force 4, is assisting with rescue efforts on the barrier islands.

First responders rescued citizens and a dog from flooding on Siesta Key.

SCSO is closing the North and South Siesta Key Bridges to anyone who is not a resident or business owner. You will be asked to show ID to be allowed on the island. 

As rescue missions and safety assessments continue, those who are not residents or business owners need to stay away from Siesta Key.

Venice Police have been conducting high water rescues all morning. Officials are asking people to avoid coastal roadways so crews can continue to respond.
