The Balance of

Design & technology, a new way of yachting.

In the design and development of AQUA, our team derived inspiration from owners’ lifestyles, the fluid versatility of water and cutting-edge technology, combining all of this in a 112m superyacht with truly innovative features.

On board, the interrelated requirement for privacy and space has been addressed with an extraordinarily large owner’s pavilion. To accentuate the link with the water, much thought has been devoted to making the ocean as accessible and visible as possible.

At the lower decks, the usual parameters for propulsion, range and speed have been translated into a complete hydrogen-electric system, whose physical dimensions and operational characteristics reinforce a comprehensively innovative superyacht experience.

Sander J. Sinot

Aqua-inspired evolution.

At Sinot, our highly talented designers offer more than just a design style. We always integrate all aspects of design into a newbuild: this means acknowledging key questions such as ‘why build a yacht in the first place?’ and ‘how can we ensure that you will enjoy your investment and enrich your sense of freedom?’

Aqua is focused on an environmentally sensitive subject: yacht propulsion and the choice of fuel. Propulsion systems have become highly optimized over the past few years: diesel-electric combinations in many configurations and setups have grown in popularity, with the goal of increasing efficiency and ultimately reducing emissions. To take this discussion into an entirely new realm we have initiated AQUA, our new yacht concept, using a hydrogen-electric system capable of catering for all onboard energy needs.

Exterior design

Surge of energy.

The flowing exterior lines of AQUA are inspired by ocean swells – the surge of energy induced by winds and currents, boosted by the gravitational forces that control the ocean’s tides.

Those fluid, free-flowing lines accentuate the freedom of life on the water and blend into their environment in complete harmony with nature. AQUA is configured with a with a five-deck set up, utilizing forward interior space through the high sheer line which subtly descends from bow to aft.

The yacht has been designed to provide those on board with the closest possible proximity to the water. The aft deck features a unique and innovative series of platforms cascading down towards the sea, while a large swim platform allows all AQUA passengers to enjoy the optimal experience of accessing the water at sea level.

Circular indulgence

The indoor health & wellness center is a water-world of serenity, where the reflecting waves of the water feature complement the onboard environment with their soft, vibrating motion. Entering this world feels like a subtle spiritual transition; from the relaxed openness of the main lounge to the healing atmosphere of this AQUA-typical spa.

The experience is heightened by passing through the sensational circular tunnel which contains the steps leading from the main lounge on the beach deck to this ‘mare tranquillum’ in the lower deck. The fullness of the experience is further underlined by the moon-shaped portals surrounding the central lobby, which leads to the gymnasium and massage room.

Massage & Gym

Hydro workout.

AQUA contains an exclusive hydro massage room, where passengers can revel in massages administered by soothing, pressurized water jets. Hydro massage therapy is extremely relaxing and is purported to help alleviate sports injuries as well as muscle and soft tissue ailments. Invented by the Romans, hydro massage remains one of the most popular, wellbeing-enhancing massage techniques.

The gymnasium provides a sensational experience with its massive, gym-wide hatch which opens to reveal the ocean’s surface at water level, creating the perception of exercising and relaxing on an island in the sea. A yoga space and workout floor, complete with cycling apparatus and weightlifting dumbbells for a total body workout, are arranged side by side. This allows all gym users to enjoy the magnificent views and close proximity to the water, while being protected by the strengthened panoramic glass window.

Beauty Salon

Focus on what matters.

The experience is heightened by passing through the sensational circular tunnel which contains the steps leading from the main lounge on the beach deck to this ‘mare tranquillum’ in the lower deck. The fullness of the experience is further underlined by the moon-shaped portals surrounding the central lobby, which lead to the gymnasium and massage room.

Central Staircase

Connecting skies and water.

Situated at AQUA’s core, the spectacular circular staircase is one of the yacht’s defining features, winding down from the top deck to the lower deck. The elegant staircase floats naturally in place around a cylindrical void.

A spectacular art piece is located at the bottom, suggesting the endless ocean depths as a reflection of the eternal skies suspended over the top skylight. The intriguing, finely crafted detailing of the wood balustrade seems to defy gravity and catches elegant reflections produced by the wave structure of the artwork at the bottom floor. Backlit crafted glass inserts in the steps accentuate the motif of flowing water, trickling down from the bridge deck.

A true spectacle manifests itself at the lowest level, facing aft, where two massive liquified hydrogen tanks reveal their hexagonal textured surface structure behind a giant façade of strengthened glass.

Owner’s Pavilion

Openness and freedom.

The spectacular, extremely spacious and beam-wide owner’s pavilion, occupying the front half of the upper deck, offers an abundance of privacy. The pavilion is arranged in a vast open-plan area of interlinked spaces, divided by finely crafted wooden screens providing intimacy and subdued lighting. Both at the starboard and port sides, floor-to-ceiling band windows supply an incredible impression of openness and freedom.

The ceiling, at a height that varies from an ample 280cm to an impressive 380cm at the large central skylight, is supported by an intricately crafted wooden structure. Below this, and depending on each owner’s preferences and hobbies, the vast owner’s pavilion can be filled with art, musical instruments or other objects of desire, in an informal setting of ultimate comfort, light and luxury.

Owners Bathroom

Symmetrical harmony.

AQUA’s large master bathroom is accessed directly from the bedroom section in the owner’s pavilion. The striking symmetry, balancing his-and-hers vanity and shower units, creates a composition of refined and considered proportions. Every detail of the bathroom reflects a sense of scale and skilled workmanship. Shapes and materials interact and combine to create an elementary yet luxurious atmosphere.

The use of premium surface finishes, such as the pitch-black, highly reflective precious marble floor, accentuates the timelessness of the interior. The sense of harmony is reinforced by amazing views over the ocean; scenery that can be enjoyed from the showers and the free-standing bathtub alike.

Embracing Tranquility

Located on AQUA’s beach deck, close to the waterline, the spacious and naturally outfitted VIP state rooms stand out by virtue of their spacious design and highly elaborate furniture. The rooms are specifically designed to offer guests the best possible environment in which to enjoy their time on board, cleverly combining optimal use of space with perfect ocean views through the giant band windows.

The VIP cabin and other state rooms are focused on openness, luxury and comfort, providing a maximum sense of freedom in a highly detailed minimalist Japanese beach-style setting. Textured silk carpets, fully customized furniture pieces in sustainable woods and the use of multiple textures in wall and ceiling paneling all create an atmosphere of ultimate hospitality and natural tranquility.

Beach Deck Lounge

Fluid hospitality.

AQUA’s beach deck lounge is a sensational constellation of interlocking spaces, and as such represents the nexus of onboard hospitality. Its inner section supplies a secluded fine dining setting, for 14 guests, providing an elevated platform for additional privacy with its surrounding, hand-crafted wooden screens.

Towards the aft deck, a comfortable, custom-designed circular settee is ideal for hosting informal chats while enjoying the seascape view through the floor-to-ceiling glass façades.

The circular setting can also be rotated to transform it into a home cinema. To the aft deck, where the infinity pool cascading to sea level begins, sets of highly comfortable lounge chairs are grouped together, accommodating the best views of the ocean and providing an unlimited indoors-outdoors experience.

Outdoor Lounge

World of relaxation.

The majority of time on board AQUA is spent outside, both during the day and the evening in good weather. As a consequence, providing comfort and privacy is vital for maximizing quality time outside, whether this involves dining, partying, relaxing or enjoying poolside drinks at sunset – or just letting one’s mind roam freely over endless seascapes.

The relaxing lounge setting makes this deck incomparably conducive to spending memorable times with family and friends. The inside and outside of this vast space can be connected by opening the curved, sliding, floor-to-ceiling glass doors, enabling intimate alfresco dining or extensive sunbathing in absolute privacy. The deck furniture has been completely custom-made by the finest craftsmen, and is upholstered in soft fabrics with colorful throw pillows and piping details.

Upperdeck loung

Unwind and recharge.

AQUA’s upper deck lounge, adjacent to the owner’s pavilion, is where hospitality, socializing and interaction with the marine environment intertwine. With its full glass façades and open exterior decks, the ever-changing views will never cease to astonish. The relaxed lounge setting and extensive al fresco dining facilities create a deck which is tailor-made for spending treasured times with family and friends.

For more private dining, a secluded setting can be created, connecting to the lounge with the use of the sliding shoji grid screens. All furniture pieces are custom-designed and combine ultimate comfort with fine detailing and rich fabrics. Natural materials and a balanced application of grids and wood structures define the spaces in well-proportioned sections. Everything contributes towards a harmonious ambience in which the owner, family and friends can truly experience the ocean in all its magnificence and unwind from the tensions of daily life.

Upper Deck Aft

Invite the light.

At AQUA, the natural connection between the inside and outside space is a particularly appealing aspect of the superyacht’s design concept. In addition to al fresco dining and lounging, an outdoor cinema can be created in which the best audiovisual media can be savored in an awe-inspiring setting above the seas.

Gel fueled fire bowls contribute towards an intimate feel while allowing passengers to still experience the great outdoors in all its beauty. One could easily forget where the interior ends and the outside begins, as both cease to feel like separate spaces: freedom, relaxation and comfort are constant factors throughout, heightening the overall experience.

Wheel House

Technology at your fingertips.

AQUA’s wheelhouse, located under the bubble hood-shaped roof on the bridge deck, is designed as a cockpit with a 360° view all around, creating both a great working environment and a spectacular space in which the owner and guests can enjoy the operation of the yacht. The wheelhouse is equipped with state-of-the art systems and head-up display technology. Designed to meet all nautical requirements and fulfil additional demands in decades to come, the wheelhouse can work at the captain’s ease or perform under pressure as and when required.

Views worth a thousand words

The AQUA room provides the last word in relaxation, in which the owner can enjoy music, enjoy the scenery and enjoy life. This observatory is located at the bow, at the far end of the owner’s pavilion, and offers a top-of-the-world feeling and endless views from the best position on board. The space is unique by design and function, and the spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows eliminate all borders between the viewers and the seascape, offering an incredible outlook for those on the floating daybed.

The World's First Hydrogen-Powered Superyacht Has a $644 Million Price Tag

mega yacht aqua

Superyachts seemed to be among the last modes of (luxe) transportation to bend toward the growing consumer demand for eco-friendly engine designs. But if news from last week’s Monaco Yacht Show served as a bellwether, the industry meant to cater to the wealthiest among us made a progressive splash with the unveiling of Aqua, the world's first hydrogen-powered superyacht.

Designed by the Dutch firm Sinot Yacht & Architecture Design, Aqua is a nearly 400-foot-long vessel that's run entirely by a renewable energy source. "Water is the eternal fuel of life, the life-sustaining force that makes planet Earth habitable," says Sander Sinot, founder of the firm that bears his name. "Water is soft, yet at the same time it cuts through hard rocks." It was this appreciation of water that helped the firm find balance between the natural world and the technological. The propulsion system is made up of two 28-ton vacuumed tanks that each contain liquified hydrogen which are stored at -423 degrees Fahrenheit. Along with being eco-friendly, hydrogen-based energy means for a quieter experience aboard the ship in comparison to traditional engines. That said, there will be backup diesel generators handy should the captain ever need them.

The infinity pool aboard AQUA.

There was much confusion on Monday if there was already a buyer who had paid the hefty $644 million price tag. Reports spread throughout the internet that billionaire Bill Gates had purchased the superyacht, rumors that proved to be false. Yet readers couldn't be blamed for believing such reports, as images show Aqua to include its own infinity pool, helipad, spa, and gym—amenities meant to attract billionaires such as Gates.

An aerial view of the superyacht shows how close passengers can get to the water, as well as the cascading design of the infinity pool.

Sinot and his team designed the vessel to safely bring passengers as close to the water as possible. "Water is relaxation; it makes us calmer and more creative," Sinot comments. "We wanted to provide those on board with the closest possible proximity to the water. The aft deck features an innovative series of platforms cascading down towards the sea, while a large swim platform allows all passengers to enjoy the optimal experience of accessing the water at sea level."

Hydrogen super yacht Aqua inspired by the ocean

Aqua hydrogen super yacht by Sinot Yacht Design & Architecture. The debut, albeit with a scale model, was made at the recent Monaco Yacht Show, where the mega yachts are not lacking. This is a 112-metre project with a futuristic design and even more forward-facing propulsion. The entire yacht is supported by fuel cells powered by liquid hydrogen. A system that, after having received great attention in the first decade of the 2000s, seemed to have been definitively shelved. But with Aqua it is back in vogue.

Breathed by the sea

The external appearance of the megayacht is inspired by the environment in which it is located: the ocean. Aqua’s design run in a single line. From the stern they rise gently towards the top of the superstructure, which houses a 360-degree panoramic capsule where is placed the wheelhouse. Then they meet in the bow area. In this zone there is a spectacular room with glass walls where guests can admire the sea like never before.

Most convivial areas are located in the forward area of the ship. The outdoor areas are located aft, where the sections are larger and more voluminous and culminate when the yacht is lowered aft towards the beach club. In addition, always at the rear end, a large staircase divided in two by a large swimming pool with waterfall, offers an incredible glimpse in all circumstances.

Inside, the ceiling heights vary between 2.8 and 3.8 meters, limiting the feeling of closure to the maximum, to prolong the feeling of living outdoors even indoors. In addition, full-height windows on the walls at the height of the main hall keep guests in constant visual contact with the surrounding environment.

The owner’s apartment is also enriched by a private spa. While the couple staying in the VIP suite, located at mid-ship, is offered the opportunity to enjoy every hour of natural light thanks to the large transparent wall. The design studio that developed the Aqua concept also thought of the style and chose a particular minimalist Japanese style for this environment. With health and wellness at the heart of the project, Aqua also offers its own whirlpool room, yoga area and a large training area at water level.

Liquid hydrogen and fuel cells

Powered by hydrogen, the naval architecture and engineering aspects of Aqua were developed by Lateral Naval Architects. The system works with liquefied hydrogen which is converted into electricity and distributed on the ship to be used by the propulsion system and services for guests and for navigation needs. An energy management system stores electricity in large batteries to ensure that needs are always met. A configuration, which required the team of designers and engineers five months of development.

The performance of Aqua – hydrogen super yacht

In terms of performance, the range is expected to be 3,750 miles while the maximum speed is around 17 knots using the fuel cells PEM (Proton Excange Membrane) as a source of energy to operate an axle with two counter-rotating propellers and two twin engines Voith Scheider, already widely used on tugs and ferries for the maneuverability they provide. “Reliability and safety are essential in our world,” added Sinot. “That’s why we emphasize that we have implemented proven technology in a new container.

Sinot-112-metre-superyacht-concept

Inside 112m Hydrogen-Electric Superyacht Concept Aqua

Sinot Yacht Architecture and Design 's 112 metre hydrogen-electric yacht concept Aqua was designed for "a discerning, forward-looking owner".

Extensively developed over a period of five months, Aqua was created in collaboration with Lateral Naval Architects , which developed the yacht’s hydrogen technology and naval architecture.

Fusing ground breaking technology with cutting edge design, Aqua features a hydrogen-electric system. The hydrogen propulsion package is based on the use of liquified hydrogen, which is stored at -253C degrees in two 28 ton vacuum isolated tanks.

The hydrogen is converted into electrical energy by proton exchange membrane fuel cells, with the generated energy powering the propulsion, auxiliary systems and hotel services. Water is the only by product of the system, which also sees large batteries buffer the generated electricity. The result is a top speed of 17 knots, cruising speed of 10-12 knots and range of 3750 nautical miles.

Speaking about the concept, designer Sander Sinot said: “For development of Aqua we took inspiration from the lifestyle of a discerning, forward-looking owner, the fluid versatility of water and cutting-edge technology to combine this in a 112 metre superyacht with truly innovative features."

"Our challenge was to implement fully operational liquid hydrogen and fuel cells in a true superyacht that is not only groundbreaking in technology, but also in design and aesthetics."

The interior meanwhile has been designed around providing as much privacy and space as possible. Accommodation is for a total of 14 people and 31 crew. The full 15.4 metre beam owner’s “pavilion” occupies the front half of the upper deck.

Key features of the owner's pavilion include an open plan layout divided by wooden screens, floor to ceiling windows on the port and starboard sides, a large central skylight and crafted wooden structure. The apartment also include a large bathroom, dressing room and spa.

Other interior features include the Aqua room, which is located at the bow at the far end of the owner’s pavilion for far reaching ocean views and a “top-of-the-world” feeling.

Aqua also features an indoor health and wellness centre with a hydro massage room, yoga space and workout floor.

A circular staircase sits at the core of the yacht, linking all five decks. Described as “a true spectacle”, the staircase bypasses the two hexagonal liquified hydrogen tanks, which sit behind a screen of strengthened glass.

The exterior meanwhile has been inspired by “ocean swells”, and features a curved top deck, integrated bow observatory, glass band windows and a raised front profile.

It is called Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design Aqua, and it is the concept of a liquid hydrogen-powered mega-yacht whose design made its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show 2019. But that’s not all: this impressive private vessel is destined to become a reality soon.

Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design Aqua

Nothing missing onboard: able to emit only H2O , the Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design Aqua measures 112 meters in length and is characterized by a five-deck architecture along which are arranged the rooms for its 14 guests and 31 staff members , in addition to a yoga room, a gym, a wellness centre and a swimming pool with outdoor waterfall.

Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design Aqua

17 Knots and 6,000 Miles of range : powered by a hydrogen system (which is stored at -253° C in two 28-ton vacuum tanks) that pumps it to a fuel cell to convert its energy potential into electricity. The Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design Aqua should be able to promise 17 knots of top speed and 6,000 km of autonomy .

Mighty multi million dollar yacht: Aqua by Sinot Yacht Architecture

If you've ever wondered what a multi million dollar yacht looks like, wonder no more. Aqua, by mega-yacht designers Sinot Yacht Architecture is more sybaritic seaborne residence than one of the world's most-forward looking multi-million dollar yachts. Because when it comes to landmark nautical designs , this is way ahead of the curve. And curves, specifically sea-inspired curves, are what Aqua’s sinuous external nautical design is all about. As Sinot themselves put it: “to accentuate the link with the water, much thought has been devoted to making the ocean as accessible and visible as possible". Rough translation: as you recline with a favourite cocktail on one of your custom yacht's many bespoke sofas, the ocean will feel like your personal playground.

Most innovative of all is what's under the curvaceous external skin of this million dollar yacht . While you might not think of the lifestyle afforded by multi million dollar yachts - remembering that there are 100 million dollar yachts available for the average billionaire too - as being particularly planet friendly, propulsion on this particular piece of forward-looking nautical design involves nothing so messy as fossil-fuel power. Instead Aqua is powered by clean liquid hydrogen. As designer Sander Sinot says of his creation, "Our challenge was to implement fully operational liquid hydrogen and fuel cells in a true superyacht that is not only groundbreaking in technology, but also in design and aesthetics."

mega yacht aqua

So take a stroll in the beyond-luxury interior this multi million dollar yacht offers. At 112 m, there's plenty of space for 14 guests and - to make sure this is a truly unique custom yacht experience - 31 staff. Start the day with a swim before taking an artisanal espresso in the upper deck lounge, just adjacent to the owner's pavilion, a space large enough to be impressive in your Mailbu mansion, let alone on a multi million dollar yacht. Recline in the Aqua room, high in the bow with views that are well worth the price of this million dollar yacht alone. From dining in the outdoor lounge to joining the captain in the hi-tech wheelhouse, there's much to explore. Or take one of Aqua's own tenders for a shore excursion, just to recall what life off a multi million dollar yacht feels like. Remember to leave time back on your custom yacht for an hour in the spa or another dip in the infinity pool .

mega yacht aqua

For the moment, we regret to say, Aqua is just a concept. A fully engineered concept of a sustainably-powered multi million dollar yacht, but a concept nevertheless. So if you're in the market for a multi-million dollar yacht like no other, Sinot are the yacht designers who are - even now - awaiting your call. Perhaps you'll make it your main - or only residence - circling the globe and inviting selected friends on board, while your multi million dollar yacht produces nothing more polluting than fresh water. We're looking forward to that sunset vodka martini already.

Mega yacht AQUA was designed to be powered by liquid hydrogen stored in the 28 tonne vacuum-sealed tanks with a temperature of -253C/423F. While the water would only be the byproduct of hydrogen and oxygen, the yacht’s two one-megawatt motors and propellors are to be powered through the fuel cells, allowing a top speed of 17 knots. With a cruising speed of 10-12 knots, her expected range is 3,750nm.

The innovative technology used in the construction of the vessel will allow guests to enjoy the warmth even while relaxing and entertaining on decks, thanks to the gel-fuelled fire bowls. This innovative approach will allow not having to burn wood or coals, attributing to the yacht eco-friendly status.

Bill Gates Yacht: Everything You Want To Know

Ian Fortey

In 2020 the yachting world was abuzz with news that Bill Gates had bought as stunning and advanced yacht known as Project Aqua. The massive, 370-foot concept yacht was revealed in 2019 at the Monaco Yacht Show and news soon followed that billionaire Bill Gates, once the richest man in the world and the founder of Microsoft, had commissioned the construction of his own hydrogen-powered Aqua. But that never actually happened and, in fact, as near as anyone can tell for real, Bill Gates doesn’t own a yacht at all.

So where did the story come from? What’s the deal with the Aqua? And hasn’t Bill Gates been pictured on a yacht before? Let’s get some answers.

How Much Did the Aqua Yacht Cost at the Monaco Yacht Show?

mega yacht aqua

According to the stories online, Bill Gates paid $600 million for the hydrogen powered yacht. But that’s not true at all. According to the yacht makers, the Dutch company Sinot, the price tag is $645 million but no one bought it after it was revealed at the Monaco Yacht Show, and that includes Bill Gates. It’s expensive but definitely not the most expensive in the world.

How Fast is the Aqua Yacht?

mega yacht aqua

Aqua is a unique yacht in the yachting world which is why it garnered so much attention in the first place. It’s the first mega yacht that runs on a fully operational liquid hydrogen and fuel cell system that features two hydrogen engines that can produce 1,341 horsepower. The top speed is 17 knots and  the Aqua has a cruising speed of 12 knots. The total range is 3,750 nautical miles. The liquid hydrogen is stored in two 28-ton vacuum sealed tanks where it can be held at -253 degrees C. The only exhaust is water.

What Does the Interior of  the Aqua Yacht Look Like?

mega yacht aqua

The Aqua has 7 suites meant to house up to 14 guests at any given time. Two of those suites are larger VIP cabins. The ceilings throughout are 9 feet and stretch as high as 12.5 feet elsewhere thanks to the luxury Sinot yacht architecture. The vessel has room for a crew of 31 as well. The beach deck lounge aboard the boat alone looks like a luxury hotel space.

The Aqua features a bow observation room which is surrounded by windows to give a panoramic view of the ocean which has been described as the “ultimate superyacht owners lounge.” In addition, there’s a movie theater on the upper deck. It also includes a wellness center with a hydro massage room. You can also do some yoga in a workout space. There’s a fully equipped gym, a beauty salon, and even a hairdresser.

mega yacht aqua

Up on the main deck there’s a luxury swimming pool that even includes a waterfall. One of the yacht’s defining features is the spiral staircase that covers all five decks and is covered by a skylight. On the way up it also offers a view of the interior of the hydrogen fuel tanks so you can see just what 56 tons of ultra cold liquid hydrogen looks like as you move between decks.

The tender garage has an array of toys such as jet skis while the main deck features a beach club with a dining area designed for all 14 guests and a lounge that converts into the cinema space.

What Yacht Has Bill Gates Actually Been On?

mega yacht aqua

Bill Gates does seem to like yachts, just not enough to spend his money owning one, and that’s fair. Yachts cost millions to maintain every year. No one got rich spending millions to maintain a boat.

That said, Bill Gates has not only vacationed on yachts – he spent his 66th birthday on one – he also got married on a yacht.

In 2021, Gates made the news when he celebrated his 66th on board a luxury yacht called the Lana alongside Jeff Bezos. He spent $2 million to charter the yacht for a week and flew 50 guests out to celebrate with him.

The Lana is a 351 foot yacht with room for 12 guests and a cruising speed of 12 knots with a max speed of 18 knots. The master suite is 1,184 square feet. The room features his and hers walk-in dressing rooms and a private terrace.

Elsewhere on board you’ll find a piano in the lounge area as well as a full gym for working out. There’s both a sauna and a well-appointed spa as well. On deck you can head to the beach club or take a dip in the pool.

There are three tenders in the garage alongside a bunch of toys including various jetskis, a seabob, wakeboards, WindSurfers, fishing equipment, scuba diving equipment and more.

Back in 2014, Gates rented an even more expensive yacht, the $5 million per week Serene, to go on a vacation with his family. The Serene, once owned by  Russian vodka magnate Yuri Shelfer before being purchased by the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, clocked in at a massive 450 feet making it one of the world’s biggest and even had its own on board submarine

The Serene features 7 decks, a saltwater pool, a climbing wall, a surprisingly large library, health spa, outdoor cinema and a nightclub. This is all spread across 48,000 square feet.

It’s also been confirmed that Gates met his wife Melinda on a yacht owned by Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, all the way back in 1994.

Why Do People Think Bill Gates Owns the Aqua?

mega yacht aqua

It’s easy to see why people may have thought Gates owned the Aqua when you consider a handful of factors. First, as mentioned, we have lots of evidence that Bill Gates really does enjoy luxury yachts. The extremely high price tag was something that only a few people in the world are going to be able to afford and Gates, who doesn’t own a yacht, seems like a likely candidate for those reasons.

In addition, Gates has spent several years now as a climate activist and has supported a number of green technologies. A yacht that runs on hydrogen seems like something he would support as well. So, with no real evidence, the circumstantial evidence was enough to easily convince people. Once it’s presented as fact on the internet, and it was in many articles and videos, few people had reason to question it.

The Bottom Line

The mega yacht known as the Aqua has a price tag of $645 million and it runs on clan burning hydrogen fuel. The only byproduct of its operation is water, making it a very environmentally friendly yacht. It made waves, so to speak, when it debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2019. Rumors soon began to spread that billionaire and known climate activist Bill Gates had ordered one for $600 million. However, despite many videos and articles that refer to him as the owner, the truth is no one bought the Aqua at the yacht show and, as of 2023, Bill Gates does not own a yacht at all. He is know to charter extremely luxurious yachts for vacations and parties, such as the Lana and the Serene, but he does not own any just now.

Bill Gates bought super yacht Aqua

Bill Gates bought super yacht Aqua

Bill Gates just purchased a $650 million environmental-friendly super yacht Aqua

Bill Gates , the second wealthiest man of the world after Jeff Bezos , has apparently bought the most fashionable super yacht which is totally driven by liquid hydrogen. Gates frequently shares his fortune accompanying ecosystem responsive enterprise in addition to establishments occupied for better world health.

Jeff Bezos, the 4th richest person in the world, has also a new boat under cosntruction. You can find news about it here:  Jeff Bezos is constructing a 127-meter sailing yacht at Oceanco

Bill Gates, who is the founder of Microsoft , is a routine superyacht traveler but has not formerly purchased his own yacht and has chosen to charter during summer voyages around the Mediterranean.

He is now participating seriously in a totally environmental friendly superyacht in the faiths that many other entrepreneurs track his indication.

This fresh yacht was firstly seen at the Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht was built by a Dutch firm Sinot Yacht Design .

Dutch design company Sinot is occupied in a boat which completely run by hydrogen, in the sense that its single emission will be water. It is expected to work at a maximum speed of 17 knots, with maximum range of 3,750 nautical miles.

The construction period of the yacht Aqua will be under supervision of Lateral Naval Architects. The length of the yacht Aqua is 112 meters and be motorized by liquid hydrogen delivering electrical energy to the fuel cells.

"For improvement of Aqua we grabbed creativeness from the life of a selective, open-minded owner, the liquid adaptability of water and front-line expertise, to joint this in a 112-meter superyacht with really pioneering characters," creator Sander Sinot reported.

"Our task was to apply entirely effective fluid hydrogen and power units in a real mega yacht that is not only revolutionary in expertise but also in project and overlooking," the prime designer, Sander Sinot, told in a media announcement.

The huge yacht Aqua combined with five decks and is able to accommodate up to 14 guests and 31 crew. The project has been stimulated by the ocean and Aqua’s curved outside shapes flow from the stern thru a 360-degree watching shell.

Aqua has 4 guest cabins, 2 VIP cabins and 1 owner suite. In order carry 31 crew, the yacht moreover has 14 double personnel rooms, 2 officer cabins and 1 captain's quarter.

Moreover, round stairway is one of the yacht’s major characters, curving down from the highest deck to the lower deck. The key architectural attraction of the staircase is at its lowest flat where two enormous watery hydrogen containers can be perceived in their hexagonal rough exterior.

Aqua also has an interior health and wellness facility including a gym, a jacuzzi room, and a yoga studio.

On top of being innovative, the boat is also very comfortable, with an infinity pool, heliport, spa, and indoor pool. The design of the yacht took over 6 months to realize and display a high-tech project. However, notwithstanding that the gossips of a Gates’ property, the Aqua is still just a model. The yacht is unlikely to be on the sea before 2024.

Spanning some six decks, Inspire can comfortably accommodate 22 guests and 52 crew. The top deck is dedicated entirely to the owner and offers nearly 3,000 square feet of living space. The private oasis includes a giant primary suite, a lavish en suite with a full-beam vanity, two dressing rooms, a glass-enclosed lounge with a winter garden, and an outdoor terrace that is perfect for morning yoga. Friends and family sleep below, with eight spacious guest cabins on the main deck and two upscale VIP suites on the beach deck. The VIPs are both fitted with fold-out balconies, so guests too can partake in yoga.

At the heart of the interior lies an elegant lobby with a sculptural staircase that leads to all levels. The lobby doubles as a gathering space for the nearby theatre, which houses a stage, a full-beam screen, and seats for up to 40 guests.

One deck up lies a circular restaurant that can satiate the owner and their guests at any given moment. The tables can be arranged for intimate gatherings or large soirees alike. The exterior deck on this level is outfitted for alfresco dining, with loungers surrounding an oculus that affords spectacular views of all below.

Heading back downstairs, guests will find an epic beach deck with a fully equipped wellness center, a beach lounge, and a swim platform. The real pièce de résistance of this deck is the otherworldly “blue-hole swimming pool.” Surrounded by rugged rock formations, this glass-bottomed wonder provides breathtaking vistas of the ocean.

Another highlight is the Nemo lounge on the lower deck. Located approximately 16 feet below the water’s edge, the observation room allows seafarers to fully appreciate marine wonders without getting their hair wet.

“The marine environment has always inspired mankind; by its visual splendor of surging waves and endless skies, as well as its sense of wonder, tales of exploration, and legendary voyages,” designer Sander Sinot said in a statement. “Inspire builds on that legacy by providing unprecedented openness between the inside and out, vast exterior decks, and features such as a blue hole swimming pool and submersible Nemo room.”

Sinot says Inspire is “ready to be built,” the team just needs to land a buyer.
