Ultimate 23/35 Tranquility

Ultimate 23/35 - Tranquility

Fully set up for comfortable cruising, Tranquility is reluctantly offered for sale at the very reasonable price of $14,500. 

Ultimate yachts are renowned for their sea-worthiness , and the Ultimate 23 comes with a 445 kg lead skeg maintaining stability.

Built circa 1990, the fibreglass hull and deck are in fair to good condition, with a few scratches to the gelcoat on the hull and some wear signs on the deck, but the boat is in good seaworthy condition. Originally built for racing, Tranquility was first registered in Port Fairy (hence the PF35 registration number) and s he is still a fast boat !

Tranquility comes with a full set of Hooper sails, including a loose-footed main, a kevlar genoa, #2, #3 & #4 headsails and spinnaker. Headsails can be furled from the cockpit.

Currently set up for cruising, Tranquility has a pop-top allowing for standing headroom in the cabin. The pop-top has a fully weather proof cover with zip opening windows and entry, all with fly mesh.  

A custom made awning straddles the boom and attaches to the footrail outside the lifelines, providing shelter over the pop-top and cockpit in wet or hot conditions.

Inside the cabin is sleeping for two adults in the V-berth and one in a quarter berth. the second quarter-berth currently houses an Engel fridge/freezer running on 240v or 12v power.

The deep-cycle marine battery is charged via a 12 amp charger or a 120w Primus solar blanket and solar management controller. 

The cabin is fitted out with a chart table, comfortable seating for four adults, sink, two-burner metho stove, and plenty of cupboards and other storage. A hand pump draws water from a 45 L bladder, which is filled through a fitting on the deck. A porta-loo sits discretely under the companionway step. 

Mast is raised with a gin-pole setup and can be done single-handed.

Safety equipment: Icom VHF marine radio with DSC; GME EPIRB; Life-ring with drogue; safety grab bag with current flares, torch, etc; numerous life jackets and PFDs, two fire extinguishers and fire blanket.

A 7 kg plough anchor fits onto a bow roller for easy anchoring and retrieval, with a second sand anchor stowed in the large cockpit hatch which also houses mooring lines, five fenders/bumbers and spare fuel, sheets, gear and fittings.

Motor is a 4-stroke 9.8 hp Evinrude, purchased in 2018. Serviced annually.

Registered until July 2025, Tranquility sits on a dual-axle Mackay trailer with electric over hydraulic disc brakes, serviced annually by Trailer Repair Centre in Braeside. The trailer is fitted with a 12v Powerwinch 912 winch for effortless retrieval. Trailer is registered until April 2025.

Ultimate 23/30 Woodwind

Ultimate 23/30 - Woodwind

An excellent vessel that has been well maintained over the 25 years that the current owners have enjoyed this boat.  Features a “sugar scoop” stern, as new sails, as new 9.9HP Mariner 4 stroke outboard motor and many extras, together with a tandem trailer in good condition.

With a cream hull and blue decals, Woodwind includes many features for easy and relaxed cruising, including: walk-in/walk-out stern (sugar scoop), Forestay furler, stainless steel large plough anchor/bow (includes chain), " Fluke" anchor/ stern, 2 as-new self-tailing winches, new mast board light, new (in box ) GX700 Marine radio VHF with Pretuned  antenna (in cover), fuel line / twin tank setup, twin 12 volt battery setup, large water bladder in v-berth, electric water over stainless steel mini sink, four berth setup with cushions / curtains, folding timber table, icebox beneath steps to cabin. (works very well), stern s/s weber-style heat-bead kettle, simple mast raising mechanism, pop-top cover with insect mesh screens. (fully enclosable), fully enclosable boom tent (mast to stern).

As new Peter Green sails: full genoa on furler, jib, storm jib, spinnaker, fully battened mainsail with loose Foot, 2 spinnaker poles ( 1 x light goosewing and 1 x heavy duty).

The dual axle tilting trailer is in very good condition, with new bearings, springs & shackles, power winch, override brakes/new lines, good tyres and 2 removable tail light boards.

All work on Woodwind has been carried out by the Ericksons of Paynesville including installation of the sugar scoop stern, s/s centre-board cable , s/s pushpit fittings, motor serviced by Blue Water Marine.

Ultimate 18 Sails and Equipment

Genoas: Two Genoas in good second hand condition. Both made by North Sails. One has a bolt rope in the luff for a furler, the other has hanks to clip onto the fore-stay.  Price: $250 each.

Working Jibs: One is made by Hood Sailmakers. It has never been used but shows discoloration from years in storage. Hanks on the luff, Price $200.

The other is made by Peter Green and is still quite serviceable but has been well used. Hanks on the luff, Price $100.

Mainsail: 3 Batons, 2 reefs, made by Peter Green. Well used but still serviceable. Price $100.

Spinnakers: Two spinnakers, both made by Peter Green, both blue and yellow in colour, both in very good condition. One is the traditional "full" shape with lightweight cloth. Price $250.

The other is a "reacher" suitable for stronger winds. It has a "flatter" shape and is made from slightly stronger (heavier) material.  Price $200.

Forestay for Ultimate 18: New with fittings at each end. $40.

Plough Anchor: 15 lbs. (almost 7KG) galvanised - in good condition. $50.

VHF Radio: "ICOM" handheld 2-way VHF radio with separate charger. $120.

Ultimate 18S / 109 Jolly Frog

Ultimate 18S / 109 - Jolly Frog  *** Sold

This is a rare opportunity to acquire an outstanding and unique swing keel Ultimate 18 !

"Jolly Frog" and her trailer have been meticulously maintained and are in excellent condition inside, outside & underneath.

Very comfortably set up for cruising , “Jolly Frog” has cruised extensively across Vic, NSW & SA.

She also has an extraordinary race record having won 12 State Championships and many other racing events.

The swing keel Ultimate design has huge advantages. When the keel is up the cabin is clear (photo) and provides a seat for cooking etc.   The bulk of the keel weight is where it should be, as low as possible and in the event of touching bottom the keel fairly harmlessly folds backwards.  The disadvantage is the open slot and large keel cavity which can cause significant drag.

However - unlike most swing keel boats, “Jolly Frog” has an ingenious and unique flap system that completely covers the keel slot and cavity when sailing, thus eliminating drag.

Sails included: Main  sail with either leech battens or through batten, Head sails : 2 x No 1 Genoas , No 2 Jib, No 3 Storm Jib and  2 x Spinnakers.

Instruments: Speedo and depth meter, 2 radios: VHF and AM/FM with disc player.

Keel: Fibreglass coated with polyurethane finish.

Rudder: Hand crafted, laminated , fibreglass coated.

Motor is a recent model Mariner 5HP outboard (just been serviced) with stand / trolley.

Numerous other extras including pop-top & cover, solar panel, 4 speaker sound system,  brand new electric trailer winch with remote control, trailer with new rims and tyres, mast resheeting, built in ice box and more, which can be detailed on enquiry.

Ultimate 23/28 - Summer Wine          *** Sold  ***

An excellent example of this type of trailer sailer which features a  "sugar scoop" stern, flat floor inside and pop top ensuring easy access, with good internal space and headroom. It is a white hull with red and blue striping and has been previously anti-fouled. Summer Wine comes well setup for cruising or racing, with a full set of sails from Peter Green Sails in very good condition, includ ing a main sail, Jib Furler with No.1 jib and spinnaker , plus t wo Hutton self-tailing two speed winches , t wo main anchors and a small supplementary anchor.

The Yamaha 8hp outboard is in excellent condition, the trailer is registered and comes with an electric winch.

It has a sleeping capacity of 6: the forward v-berth has custom springs under foam cushions, the two aft berths have foam cushions and the galley table can be converted to an additional three quarter double bed with foam cushions.

Other features include a one year old 100 amp deep cycle battery, 85 watt solar panel, fridge, 27 mhz radio, VHF handheld radio, compass, sail timer wifi instrument, powered auto steering, AM/FM radio cd player with two internal speakers and one outside speaker, porta potti, gas mate stove, w indow curtains, e xtra storage shelving, b oom cover and cockpit cover.
