The 61m Explorer Superyacht Voyager (ex-Absinthe) Is Ready For Charter

The 61m motor yacht Voyager has recently been signed for charter with Thierry Voisin . She will be located in West Mediterranean around the Riviera, Corsica, and Sardinia.

Voyager (ex Absinthe) was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and launched in 1973. She was refitted in 2002 in Florida and then at Alied Shipyard in Vancouver, Canada (2003-2005).

Superyacht Voyager has nine comfortable staterooms and cabins: an Owner’s suite with king size bed and living area, 2 VIP king size staterooms, 2 VIP queen size staterooms, 2 Queen size Junior suites, a Twin cabin, and a Single cabin format. Her upper deck features a sky lounge which has panoramic views. Voyager has accommodation for 12 guests and 19 crew members.

Equipped with everything for an ideal cruise, Voyager offers a bright and modern interior. The full beam owner’s suite is finished in dark mahogany; two queen-sized cabins features bright wood paneling and have en-suite bathrooms with showers.

Superyacht Voyager will be available for €160000 in the height of summer with a drop to €150000 in the low point of the season.

Claude-Alain Bugnon was the first clandestine distiller to receive legal status from the Swiss government in 2005. Interestingly, though, this particular absinthe was inspired by an American absinthe that was produced by P. Dempsey & Company in the early 20th century before the ban in 1912.

In keeping with the style, it has a distinctively yellow “feuille morte” hue. The flavours are full-bodied and offer a citrus sweet herbaceousness that is extended by creamy honey suckle. If you’re looking for a rich and unique yet authentic experience, it’s one that’s certainly worth your attention.

2. A. Junod Clear Absinthe [France]

A creation from the famous Emile Pernot distillery, this particular absinthe is named after Auguste Junod, a famous distiller and pioneer aviator of the Belle Epoque. Today, Junod continues to travel and his absinthe has toured a number of film festivals including Cannes and the Academy Awards.

Eight botanicals are macerated to produce its distillate so it’s surprisingly herbaceous for clear absinthe. Furthermore, it features a beautiful label by the Colombian artist, Randy Mora.

3. Artemisia-Bugnon La Clandestine [Switzerland]

Although we highly rate his Butterfly absinthe, it’s not actually his flagship label. In fact, it’s a refreshing yet mellow flagship concoction that is truly aptly named since he has been producing absinthe since 2000!

Indeed, during the ban, most absinthe was clear so that it wasn’t as easy for authorities to recognise. This clear absinthe is delivered in a distinctive blue bottle in reference to the Bleue  he used to produce. Additionally, the name Charlotte on the bottle pays homage to the woman who created the recipe in 1935.

4. Jade Esprit Edouard Absinthe [France]

Esprit Edouard is a carefully reproduced replica of the historical absinthe by Edouard Pernod based on perfectly-preserved bottles that were discovered a century later. Edouard Pernod was one of the most popular absinthes during the Belle Epoque so it’s a significant production!

From what we hear, it isn’t an exact copy of the original. However, it delivers a rich character with an aromatic complexity of spices and green anise.

Kübler is a family-owned absinthe distiller from the Val-de-Travers region that was revived immediately following the ban. It was first launched in 1863 by J. Fritz Kübler and is operated today by his great-grandson, Yves, under the Altamar Brands portfolio.

Yves Kübler played a pivotal role in campaigning for the repeal of the absinthe ban. Once it was lifted domestically, he went on to collaborate with the U.S. authorities to have absinthe products reintroduced into the American market.

The original Kübler absinthe is a clear spirit and is produced only from locally sourced wormwood. It turns a milky white colour when louched and offers a clean and fresh palate with anise-forward notes in its profile.

6. Two James Nain Rouge Absinthe [USA]

Two James is a craft distiller located in Corktown, Detroit. It recently released its own absinthe call “Nain Rouge”, which means “Red Dwarf”. With a name like that, perhaps we’re expected to see holograms, anthropomorphic cats, and service mechanoids instead of a green fairy?

It is produced using a genuine 19th-century French recipe from 100 pounds of botanicals. Two James seeks to offer unparalleled depth and complexity with its creation, which is one of our preferred US-made absinthes.

7. Young & Yonder Absinthe [USA]

• Region: Sonoma County, California

Based in the heart of California’s Sonoma County, Healdsburg distiller Young & Yonder produces a wide variety of unique spirits. Its absinthe has a distinctive “feuille morte” brown colour and is made in limited 50-gallon batches with over 75 pounds of botanicals.

Its use of tangy lemongrass, ginger, and eucalyptus results in a bracing and refreshing absinthe with distinctive notes of spices. As it’s macerated again after distillation, the botanicals have a robust and complex presence.

8. Copper & Kings Absinthe Blanche [USA]

• Region: Louisville, Kentucky

Unlike most of its Kentucky-based peers, Copper & Kings is a craft distiller that specialises in brandy and other more niche spirits. Its absinthe is produced using a traditional method with Vendôme copper stills and a double-distillation process.

Non-chilled filtered, it features a rich and authentic flavour profile with generous use of wormwood, sweet fennel, and liquorice. Also worth sampling is the Copper & Kings barrel-aged absinthe. Although it’s far from traditional, the ageing process offers an entirely new absinthe experience.

Creatively named Mansinthe, Marilyn Manson’s absinthe is also distributed at 66.6% ABV. Does that make this the tipple of the beast? Whatever your thoughts of the musician, the absinthe that bears his name is an excellent specimen.

Indeed, Marilyn Manson had been very fond of absinthe ever since sixth album, “Eat Me, Drink Me”. In fact, Johnny Deep introduced him to the drink in 2000.

Therefore, he teamed up with Matter Luginbühl to produce his own product, which is strikingly labelled with his artwork “When I Get Old I Would Like a Drink”. It was released in 2007 and delivers a surprisingly earthy flavour, which evokes liquorice over aniseed.

10. Tempus Fugit Vieux Pontarlier Absinthe [France]

Imported to the USA by Tempus Fugit, this absinthe is likely produced by Emile Pernot, which is the brand best associated with the “Vieux Pontarlier” name. If so, this historical concoction has received dozens of awards since it was revived in 2008.

In fact, a great number of absinthes available in the USA have been imported by Tempus Fugit. Indeed, it was created shortly after the reintroduction of absinthe in the US market and one of its founders was even a pioneer in redeveloping the Vieux Pontarlier style.

Pontarlier is the French capital of absinthe Môtiers is in Switzerland. It is also arguably its own style of absinthe. Vieux Pontarlier features a slightly yellowed jade hue that louches with thick clouds and a clean surface. Meanwhile, its aromas are generous with anise with a light presence of spices and a creamy herbal edge.

Where To Buy Absinthe In The USA

Some modern brands of absinthe are cheaply manufactured through a cold mix process, which simply consists of blending artificial colouring and flavouring in alcohol. As absinthe has no legal definition outside of Switzerland, this inferior product is frequently marketed alongside authentic absinthe.

Therefore, great care must be taken in ensuring that the absinthe you buy is genuine. Additionally, real absinthe with levels of thujone above 10mg/l cannot be sold in stores in the USA.

However, it can legally be imported for personal use. Therefore, you can use reliable online retailers that operate out of Europe to purchase this type of absinthe. One website that we would recommend is absinthes.com .

The history of absinthe is long and rich, and contains just enough mythology and controversy to keep things interesting. The Green Fairy, as it was once known, is typically a high-proof spirit that is flavored with botanicals, the most prominent of which are anise, fennel, and Artemisia absinthium— more commonly known as wormwood. While its roots can be traced back to Switzerland, absinthe was hugely popular in France in the early 20th century. Noted writers and artists were famously fans of this sweet, potent, licorice-flavored drink, including Hemingway , Rimbaud, and Baudelaire.

Absinthe gained a reputation as having dangerous hallucinogenic and psychoactive properties, although that has since been disproven (the likely culprit was just drinking way too much). Still, absinthe made with wormwood was banned in the U.S. from 1912 until 2007—officials cited the presence of the chemical thujone, which occurs naturally in wormwood, as being unsafe (current TTB guidelines allow up to 10ppm of thujone in absinthe).

Today, there are many different absinthe brands to try, including ones based on old French recipes and more modern versions produced by American craft distilleries. Here are the seven best absinthes to buy now.

Tamworth Garden Sugar Plum Fairy

Tamworth Distilling has made a name for itself over the years by releasing some very odd spirits, most notably whiskeys flavored with green crab, beaver sac oil, and venison. More recently the distillery released a new absinthe, and of course it also has a unique twist. This 100-proof spirit is flavored with wormwood and the usual botanical suspects, but it’s also blended with plum distillate and pine syrup to turn it into something unlike any other absinthe you’ve tried.

St. George Absinthe Verte

St. George Spirits is a Bay Area craft distillery that has been around for over 40 years. It’s best known for making gin and single malt whiskey, but the team there has also come up with an excellent absinthe. Absinthe Verte was first released in 2007, and is made by infusing brandy with wormwood, anise, and fennel, distilling it, and then adding a range of botanicals to give it color and even more flavor.

Absinthe Vieux Pontarlier

This is a French absinthe that is rooted in history but modernized for today’s drinker. Wormwood and other botanicals are steeped in a base spirit made from Chardonnay grapes that was distilled in alembic copper stills in Pontarlier, France. The mission of Tempus Fugit, the brand behind this absinthe, is to produce spirits similar to those used in pre-Prohibition cocktails, and in that they’ve succeeded. Try this in a Sazerac , Death in the Afternoon , or any other drink you can think of.

Lucid Absinthe

Lucid, which is imported by Oregon’s Hood River Distillers, was the first absinthe made with wormwood to be legally available in the U.S. after the ban was lifted in 2007. It’s distilled in France in old copper stills at the Combier Distillery, and there is no flavor or color added. Founder Ted Breaux also created the Jade portfolio of absinthes, including one made from two different kinds of wormwood and another that was reverse-engineered from a 1901 recipe.

This classic French absinthe is is made using a recipe that has been around for over a century, and at 110 proof it’s strong but not overpowering. The production of the spirit has been modernized in recent years, but the absinthe itself remains a stalwart in the category that works just as well sipped with some water and sugar or used in any cocktail.

Leopold Bros. Absinthe Verte

Leopold Bros. is a Colorado distillery that makes some excellent whiskey, but it also has a well-regarded absinthe in its expansive portfolio. Absinthe Verte is made from a Pisco base spirit imported from Chile. A range of botanicals are added to this grape distillate, including wormwood, anise, and fennel. Its pale green color is the natural result of steeping lemon balm and hyssop in the spirit, and it’s bottled at a bracing 130 proof.

Kübler Absinthe comes from Switzerland, where it is made by fourth-generation master distiller Yves Kübler. The recipe for this expression dates back to the mid-1800s, and it contains nine botanicals including wormwood. According to the brand, Yves Kübler was instrumental in lifting the ban on absinthe—first in Switzerland and then in the U.S.—making this the first Swiss absinthe to be available here as of 2007.

What is absinthe?

The 41.8m/137'2" motor yacht 'Asante' (ex. Botti) was built by Custom Line in Italy at their La Spezia shipyard. Her interior is styled by Italian designer design house Zuccon and she was delivered to her owner in July 2020. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Zuccon and she was last refitted in 2024.

Guest Accommodation

Asante has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising four VIP cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

Her features include beach club, deck jacuzzi, WiFi and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she benefits from a semi-displacement hull to provide exceptional seakeeping and impressive speeds. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32 ACERT) 12-cylinder 1,622hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 11 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 3,200 nautical miles from her 37,000 litre fuel tanks at 11 knots. Her water tanks store around 4,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) C ✠ HULL ● MACH classification society rules.

The St. Petersburg Motor Classic Show is held in beautiful South Straub Park along the waterfront in downtown St. Petersburg. The show, in its 23nd year, is organized by the St Petersburg Yacht Club, with a dedicated show committee and volunteers from both Club members and interested members of the public.

The show, which is free to the for spectators, is open to both Club Members and non-members, and features a carefully curated selection of 300+ vehicles from the 1880’s through today. There is something for every motoring taste, from antiques and classics through modern exotics, and even boats or motorcycles.

There are 25 classes covering every era of motoring, each judged by a “People’s Choice” metric. Additionally, a Best of Show is awarded.

The St. Petersburg Motor Classic is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization that supports and donates proceeds from the event to local charities, to assist them in their amazing efforts.
