Notes. The ALOHA 8.5 is an updated version of the ALOHA 28, introduced in 1983. The main difference between the 2 boats is the installation of 5 opening port lights down each side of the vessel, and the addition of more brightwork, including a trim piece running horizontally above the port lights. Rig dimensions also varied.

The Aloha 8.5 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fibreglass, with wood trim.It has a masthead sloop rig, a raked stem, a plumb transom, a transom-hung rudder, with a partial skeg, controlled by a tiller and a fixed fin keel.It displaces 6,750 lb (3,062 kg) and carries 2,750 lb (1,247 kg) of ballast. [1] [2]The boat has a draft of 4.30 ft (1.31 m) with the standard keel.

Review of Aloha 8.5
The Aloha 8.5 is equipped with a fin keel. The fin keel is the most common keel and provides splendid manoeuvrability. The downside is that it has less directional stability than a long keel. The boat can enter even shallow marinas as the draft is just about 1.31 - 1.41 meter (4.30 - 4.60 ft) dependent on the load.

jonnohb. •. We have an Aloha 8.2/27 which is a similar boat with some differences. The 8.5 is a masthead rig and stern hung rudder. The Aloha boats were made with a good fit and finish from what I've seen. Very happy with ours, we sailed about 300nm on Lake Ontario last year.
