Airstream launched its first motorhome in 1979, a unit that pretty much mimicked the classic riveted aluminum body of its trailers. The Land Yacht, however, rolled out in 1989 and came with laminated fiberglass construction; a look that was much more traditional Class A. For 2004, it's available in four floorplans from 26 to 33 feet in length.

I did buy in 2004 based on condition of a then 10 year old coach, a diesel pusher 35 foot Land Yacht. Nothing is cheap to fix on old RV's, so buy the best condition you can find. A really nice Winnebago beats a used up Airstream, but with condition equal, the Airstream was much better quality when new in my opinion.

A friend is looking at this rig - 37k miles, looks about as good as any 15 year old rig possibly can. Its clean in and out and the interior doesn't show noticeable wear in the pics.
