The latest collaboration between humphreys yacht design and our in-house design studio, the new 495 50 foot sailing yacht is an evolution of five decades of iconic oyster design cues..

Her clean hull lines and wide beam aft are the foundation for the outstanding space and capabilities of the Oyster 495. She incorporates many of our big yacht features in a compact 50 foot yacht. Instantly recognisable as an Oyster, the Oyster 495 features our pioneering deck saloon, protected cockpit and helm stations, wraparound and forward-opening saloon windows. Flush decks, signature triple vertical seascape windows, foredeck skyscape windows, a powerful plumb bow and extended bowsprit complete the look.

We were the first boat builder to create a truly ergonomically designed cockpit and helm positions, with sprayhood and optional bimini for additional protection. Details like the cockpit table, with optional built-in refrigerated drinks locker, that comfortably seats up to eight people, is just one of the many triumphs of Oyster design thinking.

The Oyster 495 consistently delivers powerful, responsive and rewarding performance in safety and comfort.

Nine knots is her happy place and her well-balanced, stable wide-beamed hull form gives you confidence to keep the sails up in almost any conditions. Twin rudders make her light and agile on the helm, offering fingertip control even in the most boisterous seas. Measuring more than 860 square feet (80 square meters), Galma's cockpit features comfortable sofas, sunbeds, and informal dining that can be configured according to need. Clean of any sailing controls, the space is unencumbered to assure guests can enjoy time on board without interruption, whether at anchor or underway.

All sailing related controls are concentrated on the aft portion of the yacht. Additionally, Galda sports a flush deck all the way aft to the sunbeds. Equipped with hidden fridges amid the posh sofas, guests can choose whatever they'd like without the need to call on crew.

A Low Profile

The sleek Wally trademark is a low profile presented from the side, looking for all practical purposes like a completely flush deck with barely a hint of coach roof bumping the line. "The cockpit is deep, but you don't see this from outside the boat. It helps to conceal the coachroof, giving the impression of a flush-decked yacht. In reality, the Wallywind110 has all the benefits of a raised saloon without any of the aesthetic drawbacks,"explained Wally founder and chief designer Luca Bassani.

The foredeck lounge and Wally's famous sternside terrace-on-the-sea are important brand features. Intended as a social center right on the water, guests are encouraged to lounge, chat, or observe more active water sport pursuits.

The Priority Of Comfort

Bright, spacious interiors with light furnishings and woods and dark accents present a chic interior ... [+] gathering space in the raised deck saloon of the Wallywind110, debuting at the Monaco Yacht Show 2024.

While the interior configuration of the lower deck is up to the owner, most are quite happy with the space to play with allowed by the raised deck saloon design. Four large guest cabins are served by accommodations for three crew. An optional bar, office, or TV room can also be included.

The raised saloon is the center of activity on the yacht, endowed by lots of natural light from hull lights, windows, and skylights. To starboard, Galma's dining table seats eight. To port, deeply upholstered sofas welcome conversation, cocktails, and social gatherings.

Working with Studio Santa Maria Magnolfi, the Wally design team, headed by Bassani, chose light woods and pale upholstery, with contemporary accents in carbon fiber to echo the informal welcome, concurrently hinting at the speed, ease of handling, and relaxed environment on board.

Performance and Potential

Wallywind 110 Galda is a fine example of the hybrid qualities built into Wally Yachts, dovetailing ... [+] comfort and leisure with high-performance sailing and racing.

Designed and engineered to perform at the top of her game, Galma is the capable combination of speed and easy handling. Twin rudders combine with the hull design for a high degree of responsiveness.

A standard 15-foot (4.5-meter) keel with a lifting option works with a 6835 square foot (635 square meter) upwind sail plan, yielding tremendous power. Carefully controlled with an option for a square top mainsail with an increased downwind spread of 13,950 square feet (1,296 square meters) provides fast racing or passage times.

"The wallywind 110 is ideal for an experienced owner of motoryachts and is now willing to make the jump to over 100 foot sustainable sailing yachts, in order to get the extra comforts of four guest cabins and three crew cabins," says Bassani. The most likely owner, Bassani explains, is in their 40s or 50s, with a family who enjoys cruising throughout the summer, but also finds participation in a few regattas a year with friends to be enjoyable.

Sailing yachts like Mike Lynch's are 'unsinkable bodies', CEO of boat manufacturing firm says

Bayesian superyacht which sank off Italy is an "unsinkable" vessel, Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, said.

Vessels like Mike Lynch's stricken superyacht are "unsinkable", according to the chief executive of the firm which makes and sells them.

Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, told Sky News there are no flaws with the design and construction of the Bayesian superyacht which capsized in a storm off the coast of Porticello, Sicily, on Monday.

Five bodies were found by divers on Wednesday - taking the number of confirmed dead to six.

The Italian Sea Group also owns the firm that built British tech tycoon Mr Lynch's Bayesian, and Mr Costantino said the vessels "are the safest in the most absolute sense".

"Being the manufacturer of Perini [boats], I know very well how the boats have always been designed and built," he said.

"And as Perini is a sailing ship... sailing ships are renowned to be the safest ever."

He said their structure and keel made them "unsinkable bodies".

Mr Costantino said news of the sinking "put me in a state of sadness on one side and of disbelief on the other".

"This incident sounds like an unbelievable story, both technically and as a fact," he said.

It is understood Italian prosecutors investigating the incident are continuing to hold interviews with the survivors.

On Tuesday they questioned the captain for more than two hours to help reconstruct what happened and provide useful technical details.

Four British inspectors are also in Porticello and have begun a preliminary assessment of events.

It is understood they will look at all relevant aspects of the incident, including the design, stability, and operation of the vessel. They will also examine the effects of the weather conditions experienced.

Twenty-two people were on board the vessel, 15 of whom were rescued - including Briton Charlotte Golunski and her one-year-old daughter Sofia.

Divers will resume efforts on Thursday morning to bring ashore a body they found earlier. One more person remains missing.

Gary, who’s been working with Captain Glenn Shephard aboard Parsifal III since Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2, has a difficult reputation in the franchise for his playboy ways. After his behavior during the last charter season, Gary had some serious allegations lodged against him.

Gary’s behavior between the last charter and Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 came out to be abysmal, leaving viewers struggling to decide if they want to watch the upcoming season. When sexual misconduct allegations came out about Gary, alleging that he was sexually inappropriate and physically rough with a Below Deck franchise makeup artist, viewers were horrified. Although Gary’s behavior wasn’t surprising in some ways, many wondered if the spin-off would move forward. In the trailer for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, Daisy appears to be yelling at Gary to figure things out in his own time, but to help her in their work aboard Parsifal III, potentially humbling him.

The United States Coast Guard has rescued a man and his dog as Hurricane Helene fast approached them when his boat became disabled and started taking on water 25 miles out to sea, officials said.

The sailor and his dog were on a 36-foot sailboat on Thursday when the boat started taking on water, leaving the man and his canine stranded in the ocean approximately 25 miles off of Sanibel Island with no help or support nearby, according to a statement from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater released early Friday morning.

“Coast Guard crews responded to the boater’s distress call and rushed to the man’s location, approximately 25 miles offshore from Sanibel Island near Fort Myers,” authorities said. “A successful rescue attempt was made and the unidentified sailor and his dog were saved and brought back to land.”

Officials have not disclosed why the man was out to sea while small craft advisories and hurricane warnings had already been issued in the area as Hurricane Helene was expected to make landfall.

Hurricane Helene has officially made landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida as a major Category 4 storm with 140 mph winds late Thursday night, with the storm touching down near Perry, Florida, just east of the mouth of the Aucilla River.

Hurricane Helene marks the first Category 4 hurricane to make landfall in Florida's Big Bend Region since at least 1859.

Just after Hurricane Helene made landfall over Florida, the number of customers without power crossed the 1 million mark and outages have extended into neighboring Southern states with over 46,000 customers without power in Georgia and over 12,400 customers without power in North Carolina, according to powerouttages.us.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp confirmed that two people were killed during Hurricane Helene's passage into Georgia overnight, bringing the storm's total death toll to three.

Kemp said he and his family were "saddened to learn of the loss of two lives in Wheeler County this evening. As we join their families in mourning their deaths, we urge all Georgians to brace for further impact from Helene, remain vigilant and pray for all those affected."

Earlier, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a press conference late Thursday that one person was killed on the I-4 highway near Tampa when a sign fell on a car.

Daisy Kelliher  will soon be returning to the screen when Season 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht premieres on Monday, October 7, but it's been a while since viewers last caught up with her.

Ahead of the Season 5 premiere, Daisy chatted exclusively with The Daily Dish  about the latest in her world — from her dating life  to  her egg freezing journey .

When asked what she's been up to, Daisy admitted, "Not much."

"God, what have I been doing? That's a scary question. I have not progressed in life at all," she teased before laughing. "I have not bought a house, I haven't gotten a new job, I've done nothing — quite brilliant! But a lot of traveling, you know. A lot of fun stuff. And, yeah, mainly traveling."

Daisy has been a mainstay on board Parsifal III for years now, but she still takes chief stew positions here and there. 

"I'll temp when I can, but it's hard because temping is so last minute, so I'm usually not that last minute," the London-based stew said. "But yeah, if I ever get a chance to get on a boat, I definitely take that still."

"No, never dating anyone," Daisy told The Daily Dish about the latest in her personal life. "It lasts a hot minute and then explodes in my face."

In early September, Daisy began the process of freezing her eggs for the second time. She shared why she wanted to publicize the egg retrieval while speaking to The Daily Dish .

"I have obviously reached an age where I'm still single, and, you know, science has allowed us to have options, and one of those is egg freezing. I'm not trying to have a baby, I'm not guaranteeing that I'm going to use these or anything like that — I never actually wanted children 'til I was older, anyway — but it's nice to be able to have these as a backup plan," she explained. "And it's not guaranteed, but they're there to use if I wish."

Daisy froze her eggs for the first time in November 2023, and she confirmed that three viable eggs were retrieved the second time around. She detailed the ups and downs of the entire process on social media.

"I just thought it was important to share my story, because I'd done a cycle previously, and I just had so many people asking questions and looking for information, so I saw an opportunity to be able to share something that was informative, Like, it's it's easy to share your life and be like, 'Oh, I'm on this amazing beach and I'm drinking this great drink,' or 'I've got this great beauty product,' but, it's nice when you're able to share something actually really informative and comforting to lots of other people," Daisy continued. "So yeah, I saw the opportunity, and I'm an open book. I did reality TV for four years. So I was like, why not share this?"
