Angelina Yacht Charter Trogir, Croatia - Marina Trogir (SCT)

Located in Central Dalmatia, Trogir sits on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea. In Trogir, one of Dalmatia's oldest villages, tourists are taken back in time. Trogir's ancient town center, the very heart of Trogir, constitutes an islet lying between the mainland and the island of Ciovo. On it is the UNESCO-protected old town center located.

Shipbuilding and tourism represent vital economic activities in the area. An essential part of the local economy is shipbuilding and tourist attractions. The goal of the Service Center Trogir (SCT) is to become the best marina in the region by providing the best service for all types of vessels. After the project is completed, first-class Marina Trogir (5 Anchors) will offer maintenance and repair services for all kinds of yachts of all sizes. The marina will include 256 slots for vessels between 12 and 25 meters in length and 30 berths for mega yachts between 25 and 120 meters in length when the development is finished.

We have a base in Trogir for the most outstanding all-around service, which has high-quality standards. SCT Marina, Trogir, is where Angelina Yacht Charter bases their charter vessels since it is a perfect starting place for Croatian sailing holidays. Particularly to well-known islands such as Brac, Vis, and Hvar.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

Yacht charter passengers have access to many parking places with 24-hour security. The weekly rate is €90.00/car . There will be huge queues, especially on weekends, due to the volume of passengers and the severely crowded road going up to the mainland connection. In contrast, since the opening of the new bridge, the situation has become considerably calmer. The old boatyard grounds the SCT Marina in Trogir now house our Trogir Charter facility, which is next to ACI Marina. There is much room between the jetties, making docking and disembarking simpler. The restrooms are still brand new and immaculate. Cafes and fine dining establishments may be found around the marina area. SCT Marina Trogir is a short walk over the bridge from Trogir's historic core; guests will be able to wander there in less than ten minutes. There are several excellent restaurants in Trogir and several tourist attractions. Trogir's shopping options are top-notch, and so are the city's public transportation options. Supermarkets, for example, may be found on the mainland. There's also a huge fruit and vegetable market immediately before the bridge to the old town.

Trogir boat and yacht fueling station

The western end of the marina has a gas station near the jetty.

What is the best way to get to SCT Marina Trogir?

Transportation, whether by land (car, bus, taxi), sea (ferry), or air (planes), will deliver you to our location. Whether you're using a bus or driving yourself, Croatia's roadways are quick, modern, and recently constructed. Its coastlines are accessible all year round by ferry from Italy. Numerous nearby international airports provide connections to major European cities during the summer months. It's still a short distance from SCT Marina Trogir to Split's airport.

There is no way to open the bridge that connects Trogir's historic Old Town with its port. As a result, only vessels with a maximum height of 2.60 meters can pass beneath the bridge. Red and green buoys indicate the easterly direction for sailors. This channel has a water depth of 4.50 meters.

6-day Sailing Itinerary from Trogir

This itinerary takes in the best parts of the sailing area near Trogir. In total, it comes in at 112 nM for the week, and is a great outline for your own voyage. You can easily do more or less sailing than this itinerary, and there’s lots of anchorages and bays that you’ll sail past which might warrant a stop-off for lunch or a quick swim.

Trogir - 6 day sailing itinerary

The longest day on this itinerary is over 30 nM (if you visit the blue cave at Bisevo), but most days are 13 – 18 nM, which should mean about 4-5 hours of sailing a day, with ample time for stopping en-route, to explore the start or end point, or do the shopping. On average, you can expect to be making at least 4-5 knots in a charter yacht or catamaran.

Milna

The first day is fairly straight forward as you’ll follow all the other yachts South-west away from Trogir, either beating into the prevailing wind or reasonably close-hauled. Once you’re out of the Splitski channel, you can point the bow to South-east, and the island on the nose of the boat in the distance is where you’ll be spending the night.

Milna is a great port of call for the first night - it’s a charming little town, full of historic buildings, including a bell-tower which dates from when Milna was part of the Venetian empire (this marina used to be called ‘the bay of a thousand ships’ when they used to do ship-building here), and holds a trove of paintings by Venetian masters.

Paklinski Otoki

If you have time on your side, there’s an unnamed bay on the near side of south of Hvar island which you can stop at as you sail by – unbelievably, it is not connected to any roads, and looks like a sleepy little bay, but there’s two bars there (which also serve food), and it’s an optimal place to test the anchor and have a bit to eat.

Paklinski Otoci is one of our favourite bays in the whole of the Mediterranean, and it really is a sailors paradise. Pick up a mooring buoy for the night (get there early in peak season) and the whole bay is surrounded by bars and restaurants service everything from local dishes with local beer to lobster and champagne cocktails. There’s a special atmosphere amongst all the sailors, and this is one of the few experiences you can only have if you have your own yacht – enjoy it!

Vis

From Paklinski Otoci, you’re reaching across the wind to bear South-west towards the isle of Vis. If you made a late start, you can go to Vis directly (it’s only about 10 nM). More intrepid adventurers will stick with the itinerary, as we’re headed to the ethereal blue cave of Bisevo, where a trick of the light makes the water in a cave (which you can swim in) a crazy neon blue colour. It’s a magical place to go, and thoroughly recommended.

If you decide to go to Bisevo, the cave is probably easiest seen in two groups, with someone remaining on board your yacht at all times, so that you can just mill around the area instead of having to anchor up or find somewhere to moor. Thesedays access is only via the dedicated tour boats, and you need to buy tickets on land and wait your turn.  Then head back and switch over. Don’t forget to take some photos.

From Bisevo, head North-east to follow the South side of Vis right the way back around to Vis (or stopping at Rukovac if the wind allows). Vis itself has a long and bloody history, having been inhabited since 4BC by the ancient Greeks (and there are still ruins from this time), followed by the Romans, Venetians, Ottomans, the Austrians, the French, and even the British (who have a war cemetery here). The island is also notable for being the inhabited island which is furthest from mainland Croatia, and for it’s own species of palm trees (which are rare in this part of the world).

Hvar

When you were talking to friends about coming to Croatia, Hvar might well have been one of the towns that they will have heard of – that’s because it had something of a reputation for being a hedonistic resort a few years back, but don’t worry, things have calmed down a bit since then. Hvar is now known as much for its lively nightlife as it is for being something of a foodie capital, with fine dining restaurants a plenty – some with just four or eight seats who promise a gastronomic experience.

The high point of trip to Hvar – both metaphorically and literally – is the view from Hvar castle. It’s situated a fair trek up at the top of the hill, but is well worth getting sweated up for. From here, you can find a wonderful panorama of the clear blue sea, the surrounding islands, all complemented by other holidaymakers’ yachts and catamarans.

Maslinica

Maslinica is the only port on the western side of the isle of Solta, nestled amongst pine forests and sandy beaches. Originally founded as a holiday home for a rich family, the island kept getting attacked by pirates so the owners built both a church and a castle here, to help protect them one way or another.

Nowadays, Maslinica is a tourist town, and has won awards for being the best tourist destination in the Mediterranean with less than 1,000 inhabitants. It is most famous for its honey, schnapps, and for making the tastiest wine in Croatia.

Trogir

There is only two places to get fuel in Trogir, and it gets mad busy on a Friday afternoon, so either head there early or be prepared to wait in line for an hour or so whilst you watch the organised chaos and jostle for position before filling up and heading for home.

If you haven’t had time to explore Trogir properly, then now is also a good time to do it – it has a great old town with atmospheric narrow streets and a great range of waterfront bars and restaurants. There’s also a nightclub, if you want to celebrate getting the ship back safely with some heavy beats.

Someone will be along to inspect the boat before you check-out, and then you’ll be stepping off it for one last time, hopefully with a heart full of the beautiful Croatian islands, new or renewed friendships, a smile on your face, and with a sense of tranquility that can only come from sun, sea and sailing for a week.

Sailing Conditions

Croatia Sailing - Wind Conditions

During summer, winds are traditionally between Force 3 and Force 6, and are oddly reliable - in that you can expect winds from 9am to mid-day, then there’s a short break (where local sailors say the winds go to have their lunch), before resurging in earnest from about 2-6pm.

The winds are in-part powered by the sun - the sun warms the land, so air is pulled off the sea, so the prevailing winds are towards the land, and the hotter the sun is the stronger the wind.

Sailing out of season is a bit less predictable, as there’s no such thing as a prevailing wind – they can come down from the mountains to the North, or arrive with tropical storms from the South. Rest assured that most weather systems pass within a few days.

Trogir - Average Temperature

Trogir has been a major port town for centuries – even the Romans bought ships in and out of this bay – so it is not surprising that there are numerous marinas in the area.

There are three which are principally used for holiday charters, which means that on Sunday morning and on Friday evening there can be a lot of traffic in the water, as the boats come and go. - the ACI Marina is just across the water from the UNESCO world heritage Old Town is the better established, further along the coast there is the SCT marina, and a little further still out from the town, the Baotic marina is more modern and includes a swimming pool and very elegant bar/restaurant amongst its facilities. All offer wifi and the usual in-marina facilities, and are within easy walking distance to historic old town.

If you're staying in the area before or after your charter, we can recommend these places that are close to the marina: Hotel Trogir or Domus Maritima .

Marina Baotic isn't technically in Trogir (it's listed as being in Seget Donji), but it's only a short walk from Trogir, and is also connected by a water taxi.

ACI Marina Trogir has 170 moorings with electricity and water connections and 35 dry moorings. In Trogir, just 10 minutes from Split airport, our 1 st and largest base is found. The town of Trogir is a destination worth visiting no matter if you have a yacht charter starting from here, or if you are sailing by. If you take a short 10-minute walk from the old town you will end up in Marina Trogir, our home. Our marina is the latest addition in the old town and is part of a renewal of the old shipyard in town. In the marina you will find our office as well as most of our fleet.

The Venetians brought prosperity and growth to the city while the Saracens almost completely destroyed the city. Trogir became a UNESCO World Heritage site for its beautiful Venetian architecture.

That’s why we would only recommend more experienced sailors to come here during the winter months.

What type of boat is best for sailing in Trogir?

Have you already decided on the type of boat holiday you would like to experience in Trogir? If you haven’t done so already, you should definitely have a think about it before deciding on the type of boat you would like to charter in Trogir. Charter a catamaran or motorboat if you want to explore the stunning coastline and the islands and a sailboat if you want to make use of the fantastic wind conditions.

Rent a catamaran in Trogir

Pros of renting a catamaran in Trogir

Charter a catamaran in Trogir if you like to find out what the most beautiful beaches in Croatia look like in reality. You might have already seen some stunning pictures, but nothing beats the real deal. Catamarans have a shallow draft, which makes them perfect for sailing in shallow waters.

A catamaran rental in Trogir is a great choice for anyone who likes to have options. Don’t settle for just a sailboat or a motorboat, choose a catamaran. They come with a motor as well as a sail and you can decide whether you want to sail with the wind or drive with the engine. It is also great to have a plan B to fall back on. The wind might suddenly stop blowing while you're sailing with your sail, but that doesn’t mean that you should get stuck in the middle of the sea. You can simply revert back to using the engine to reach your next destination.

Rent a catamaran in Trogir if you want to enjoy more space! This is one of the main criteria why people decide on renting a catamaran. Standing on two hulls allows for more space on board. This means bigger bedrooms and more space on deck. The two hulls give catamarans more stability as well. This means that they feel less shaky when the wind picks up.

If you decide to hire a captain in addition to your bareboat catamaran charter in Trogir , you will be pleased to know that catamarans will give you more privacy than other types of boats as the steering wheel is located on top of the galley.

Cons of renting a catamaran in Trogir

You are probably very excited about all the extra space on board a catamaran charter in Trogir , but keep in mind that this also means that it is more difficult to find a spot for mooring in the marinas and that you might have to pay extra for all the extra space you’d be hogging.

Charter a catamaran in Trogir

Rent a sailboat in Trogir

Pros of renting a sailboat in Trogir

Rent a sailboat in Trogir if you want to sail with the power of the wind. There is nothing more powerful than feeling this connection with mother nature that you can only feel when you’re completely and utterly at her mercy. Are you ready for this experience? The wind conditions in this part of Dalmatia are fantastic, making it also the perfect place for novice sailors.

Charter a sailboat in Trogir if you care about the environment. As you rely completely on the wind to move your boat most of the time, you won’t use the small engine that it is equipped with - only for docking when the tides and winds are not ideal.

Cons of renting a sailboat in Trogir

If the wind suddenly stops blowing, you might get stuck in the middle of the sea and have to wait patiently for the wind to pick up again. A lot of the more modern sailboats do have an engine, but they are not really made for longer distances. So you might keep it for emergencies.

A big advantage of a motorboat rental in Trogir is the fact that motorboats have a shallow draft. This makes them the ideal boats for sailing in shallow waters and perfect for exploring the most beautiful beaches of Dalmatia.

Cons of renting a motorboat in Trogir

However, chartering a motorboat in Trogir might end up one of the most expensive options when it comes to a boat vacation. As motorboats need petrol to run, you need to pay for all the petrol you’re using on your vacation. So don’t be surprised by a big bill at the end of your trip.

Charter a luxury yacht in Trogir

Charter a luxury yacht in Trogir if you want to experience the most relaxing holiday you can get - and have the necessary cash, of course. You can always find basic amenities like a fridge, freezer, stove and coffee machine on board a luxurious yacht and most even have a SUP and snorkelling gear as well for some extra fun. There are even some incredibly luxurious yachts with a jacuzzi on deck.

What kind of boat licence do you need when renting a boat in Trogir?

Anyone who plans on renting a boat in Trogir needs to be in possession of a valid boat licence as well as a VHF radio licence. This is required by the Croatian authorities to keep Croatian waters safe. If you don’t have a valid boat licence just yet, but plan on getting one, you can always take a test via the Administration of Maritime and Port Authority authorities . Once you’ve passed the test, you can obtain your boat licence and rent a boat in Trogir or anywhere else in Croatia.

Sailing routes in Trogir

Discover Trogir and the Dalmatian coast as well as the magnificent islands in the surrounding area. Solta, Brac and Korcula are just three of the islands you have to visit on your trip to the Dalmatian coast. If you get a chance, make sure to plan a day trip to Split as well. The magical historical centre is going to blow you away!

Day 1 - Sail from Trogir to Milna : Before heading to the island of Brac and the lovely town of Milna , make sure that you get your history fix in Trogir. Admire beautiful Venetian architecture, explore historical sites like Kamerlengo Castle or Cipiko Palace . Upon arrival in Milna you should head out to explore the lovely beaches surrounding the town, including Osibova Bay, Beach Rt Bijaka and Hana Beach . The unique rock formations give those beaches a magical look and feel. Milna is also known for its fantastic diving opportunities.

Day 2 - Sail from Milna to Stari Grad : Your next stop is Stari Grad on the island of Hvar, a town that is most commonly known as the oldest town in Croatia. The Fortress of Petar Hektorović is just one of them. Also famous for its vineyards and olive groves, you should take a wine tour to learn more about the processes of making the wine and, of course, get a taste of these delicious local wines. Surrounded by pine trees it is also a fantastic place to take a break from sailing for a couple of hours.

Day 3 - Sail from Stari Grad to Hvar / Palmižana : Before sailing to Palmižana on the tiny island of Sveti Klement , you should take a few hours to explore Hvar town . The Venetian empire also ruled over this part of Croatia for a few centuries which gives the town its lovely Venetian look and feel. You should arrive in Palmižana right in time for the sunset. It is a truly magical experience you wouldn’t want to miss. Peak of Razor Shrubs on the southside of the island is a scenic place with beautiful rocks surrounded by turquoise waters.

Day 4 - Sail from Hvar to Vis : The island of Vis is home to some of the most stunning beaches. Mala Pritišćina , a very small public beach in the midst of a small rocky bay, is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. Stiniva Beach is a beautiful beach located in a small picturesque cove. Hike up Mount Hum to experience a magnificent sunrise or sunset and to enjoy the fantastic views overlooking the Adriatic sea. Tito’s Cave is an interesting historical site you wouldn’t want to miss as a history nerd.

Day 5 - Sail from Vis to Komiža : Make your way to Komiža , still on the island of Vis. Known as the filming location of the second Mamma Mia film, the town has become a popular tourist destination. Uvala Mlin is one of the sites where the movie was filmed. Rent a bunch of quads for an adrenaline filled adventure. Not far from Komiža is Perna beach , a wonderful pebble beach surrounded by turquoise waters. You can easily access the beach with your Trogir boat rental .

Day 6 - Sail from Komiža to Maslinica (Šolta) : Your next destination is Maslinica on the island of Šolta . This sleepy little town is perfect for anyone who simply wants to rewind, but doesn’t appreciate being in a completely secluded area. The harbour itself is a stunning site that every visitor ultimately has to see upon arrival.

Day 7 - Sail from Maslinica (Šolta) to Trogir : The last day of your sailing adventure in Trogir has arrived, so it is inevitable that you have to return to the town where everything started. Before you take your boat back to the charter, you should stop by Kava Beach or Seget Vranjica Beach for a quick dip in the Adriatic. After all, you’re going back to reality and might not get a chance to swim in the sea anytime soon.
