Time Owned: more than 12 months. I have had my Yachtboy 400 since 2003; bought refurbished from Universal Radio for $99.00. I have used this radio at home and camping, with internal and external antennas, on MW, FM and SW bands; this radio has been great. It performs well beyond the expectations of a $99.00 radio.

Whatever Happened to Shortwave Radio?
Magne said he believes it was the BBC World Service that speeded shortwave's decline in North America. In 2001, then-BBC World Service Director Mark Byford decided that local AM/FM rebroadcasting, satellite radio and the emerging Internet made it possible to stop shortwave broadcasts to North America. (Byford is now BBC deputy director general.)

Firth is uncovering and digitizing these recordings as time allows. We are grateful for this recording of Radio Moscow, which Firth recorded in 1968.
